  1. Web clipper seems to have stopped working. Using OS X Yosemite. With both Chrome and Safari, it just keeps "syncing" and nothing more happens.
  2. Problem Details: Notes clipped from web using the Chrome extension web-clipper appears like this when I open it the first time. After about 30 sec, everything goes normal. And it will not appear again until I quit and start Evernote. This is just an example. In fact, every note I clipped behaves like this, and when one of them appears normal, the others become normal too. This phenomenon can be easily replayed by just restarting Evernote. I don't know whether this is caused by Evernote Web-clipper or Evernote itself, but I decided to post it here. HW & SW information: Evernote version: 5.6.4.4632(272632) Public Platform: Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 Chrome version: 37.0.2062.124 m Evernote Web-Clipper version: 6.2.6 (5e9ac9e/1.1.0.926) Actually this problem has been shown quite a long time, but no updates ever solve it.
  3. All the sudden, the folder selection option in Evernote Web Clippet completely disappeared! See attached screen shot. Under folder options for web clipper, I can select "Smart Filing" "Use Last Folder" or "Always Start In". Changing these settings does nothing. All three of them still result in zero folder selection option. I can't use web clipper anymore! I have no idea where my notes are being filed... writing down keywords so I can search for the later in Evernote desktop or Web is actually waaay too much trouble. I've had to resort to old-fashioned bookmarks. Arrgh... What's wrong?
  4. The Evernote community should ring in on features that could improve the reading experience for articles, reports, and other long reads. I use Evernote to save articles, especially long articles, that I want to read later. So when I am in transit, going to bed, or just in the mood for a good read, I can find the articles that I saved for later reading. The offline notebooks included in the Premium account was one of the main features that convinced me to subscribe. I usually use Clearly or Web Clipper to save articles to my "Unread" notebook, and then I switch them to "Read" or another notebook after I've finished reading. There are a few small changes that I would suggest to improve the reading experience, especially on mobile devices: Night Mode: I'd love the opportunity to switch to reading on a dark background. Bookmarks: It's often difficult for me to pick up where I left off. I would use a quick bookmark feature a lot. Read/Unread?: Using notebooks for read and unread has worked well for me. One could also use tags. Is there another way to flag a note as read/unread? Should there be? That's all. I'd love to hear from other people about how they use Evernote for reading and also give suggestions for improvements. * Thank you to the developers for the great work that you all do. I love love love Evernote.
  5. Hi, does anyone have this problem? I'm on W7-64, current version of chrome PC. When I clip segment of an article and save to Evernote, the material is so small I can not read it. I did the following: Copy and paste the content into EvernoteYou can copy and paste most of the contents of a website right into Evernote. Open a webpage inside your browser Press and hold somewhere on the content to show the text selection options Drag the selection up or down to select the portion of the page you want to copy Let go and select Copy Switch over to Evernote and start a new note Tap and hold in the text editor area, then select Paste All the content from your selection will appear inside the new not and this is what I got:http://www.evernote.com/l/AQf29fDIAZdBRaXAhUg_FeG-7sRbaiA6fSs/ Why did it not maintain the same size font as in the article? Thank you for your help
  6. I use web clipper for chrome; Evernote 5.5.1, Chrome with Mac 10.9.4. When I go to clip an article it flashes on the full menu of options that I used to use to select "clip article" - but it then instantly defaults to a box with the name of the article. The only option it gives me is cancel. HOW DO I GET THE MENU BACK?? I've tried this repeatedly on different articles - no menu. I'm no longer able to clip articles. An example of this was when I was trying to clip: http://iveybusinessjournal.com/topics/the-workplace/the-millennials-a-new-generation-of-employees-a-new-set-of-engagement-policies#.VBXueC5dVZ0 It will do a screen shot - but will no longer let me clip the article. This has happened repeatedly - over the past two weeks -- before it was fantastic.
  7. I get so off task that I find myself a zillion places away from my initial issue. I am probably the only one in the Universe who does that - Drat Pinterest. I was working on my iPhone with EN, (my shorthand for Evernote) and it said that there was an app for web clippings direct to Evernote. Naturally, I wandered away and now I can't remember the name nor can I find it here. At one time, I remember right clicking on something on the Net and it would let me send something directly to EN. I don't find that any more. Perhaps I was imagining/dreaming? BTW, I wish I could figure out how to get back to something on my iPhone - And, I wish I could find EN Notebooks/Notes easier. Traversing EN for my reading is not easy. I seem to have very few options showing. A tip for that would be nice. Anyone have any thoughts? I will say thank you if you can help. . . . Geeze - How can I upload to My Media (icon on middle of top row.) Pat
  8. Hi, when I clip a page using evernote web clipper on Chrome, I can't change it's selection (using UP, DOWN arrow keys). And when I make mouse click somewhere on web page (after pressing up/down keys) - a part of the page is selected (different from proposes selection). OS: Windows 7 64-bit Chrome version: 18.0.1025.151 (up to date at current moment) Web clippers version: 5.2 What can be the problem ? I've tried reinstalling extension, but without success.
  9. Hello, My web clipper is not working. I click the button and nothing happens. I uninstalled it and reinstalled and it still won't work. Any suggestions? Thanks, J
  10. My web clipper will not allow me to use Chrome. When I first opened Chrome this morning, I received a popup that states: This version of Evernote Web Clipper is no longer compatible with Evernote Service. Please install the latest version. However, it won't go away when I click "OK" or close the dialogue box. It also doesn't resolve itself by force-closing Chrome and reopening. It basically disables my ability to use the browser, which makes me wonder how in the world I'm supposed to update the web clipper? Is there a fix for this? My productivity is suffering every minute I can't use that browser. (Attaching photo of notification) Thanks, Alan
  11. 1st, I wonder if Evernote is the right tool of the trade at all. Or what other apps can do this for me for free? Instapaper is almost perfect except it allows only 5 highlights a month(!!!) for free users. That will not cut it for me. I downloaded the Web Clipper and the Clearly add-ons to my browser but frankly, it is not intuitive how I should proceed. The ultimate goal is to read on mobile devices, Android and iOS, but I guess it should work first on the desktop/in the web equally. Finally, hello everyone!
  12. I've encountered an interesting issue when merging two web-clipped notes on Evernote for Mac. The notes were originally clipped in Safari as "simplified article", and both notes appear normal in Evernote for Mac after the clipping. However, after merging the notes, the merged note has added a huge margin on the left side of the note. The note thus "appears" as empty, but if I scroll to the right inside the note I can see the merged content. Apologies if a duplicate post, I did search the forum and haven't found anything.
  13. Hello EN community! I'm (relatively) new to Evernote, and I've been using the web clipper a lot. Sometimes, clipping and syncing a webpage takes a bit of time. When can I expect to have the webpage clipped and synced successfully? Does the webclipper do it in the background even after I've closed the clipped tab? I've done some experiments with this, but the results I've gotten are really inconsistent. Sometimes the page is saved when I exit during "clipping and syncing", other times it isn't. I'd appreciate your insights. Thanks!
  14. I'm addicted to the adjustable display options that comes with the clearly extension (for chrome). I use it all the time to relax my eyes, make highlights, and save pages to EN desktop. But (tell me if this is right because it seems weird to me) when I open a clipped webpage from within EN desktop, I have more annotation options (which are less crucial to me) but no text display options (like the adjustable "themes" in Clearly). Is that correct? It seems like I should have access to all the Clearly functions when I'm reading a clipped page within EN desktop, right? Am I just not seeing how to do it?
  15. Hi, I've been using Evernote for about a year and have really been trying to actually realize it's power the past few months. It's been great, but one of the features that's always befuddled me is that of Related Notes. Maybe I'm mis-understanding it's functionality, and correct me if I'm wrong, but it's seems like it's rarely spot on. For most things I'd probably be fine just ignoring them, but sometimes it would be a really helpful feature if it worked the way I thought it would (or, at least I understood the way it was supposed to work). For example, my wife and I have recently found out that she's pregnant and due to have our first baby next June. So, I've created a Notebook called 'Baby' and have already saved a couple articles on things like 'What to expect...' and tips for expectant Dad's. This morning I searched for ways that users are using Evernote to organize things for a pregnancy and came across this article on the Evernote blog. Which is great. But, when the web clipper (I'm on Chrome, btw) comes up it'll come up as the notebook for 'Productivity'. I can kind of understand that because I also have some clippings in that notebook from blog.evernote.com, so the fact it didn't get it the first time is fine. But, if I clip multiple articles of this same blog post it keeps coming up like that. Does it only look at the website address when trying to predict the proper notebook? I would have expected it to search through the indexed notes I have to predict a proper Notebook to start with. Also, after I clip it and I get the dialog showing it was complete with a few "Related Notes" it again shows me notes that are related to the website address, not the content of the notes. I guess this would be fine except there's already a second option there for seeing related notes only for that website. Again, this would be a very helpful feature would clipping notes related to baby/pregnancy stuff, but I don't get how this is working. On the Windows client I'm getting mixed results in that I'll get some notes that are actually related to the article I just clipped and then I'll get one that's not related at all. I guess I'm just trying to figure out how this works and if I'm using it wrong or if this is just a bug everyone seems to be experiencing. Judging from other posts I've read on here it seems like this is a feature that's not quite there yet... Thanks, Mark
  16. Hello, I created a bookmarklet to save articles from the web on Evernote. You can check it in my blog. It requires Drafts and uses Brett Terpstra's Marky the Markdownifier to grab the content from a url and convert it to Markdown. Credits shared with Brett Terpstra and Jonathon Duerig.
  17. Today when clipping a web page using the web clipper I was presented with an advertisement in the clipper: "Invite Friends - Get Premium." But I am already a premium subscriber, as I have been for 5 years. One of the benefits of paying for premium is that we were promised no advertisements. Now apparently evernote has gone back on that promise. Very disappointing.
  18. We here at Dolphin Browser have worked in the past to bring Evernote Web Clipping to the mobile web thru our Add-ons to our Android Browser (Google Play LInk). We are now working towards integrating Evernote Web Clipping into our iOS version of Dolphin Browser, and would like to ask the Evernote Community if there are any specific features you would like to see integrated into our solution. Any and all feedback is welcome. Thanks, Ryan Krems Dolphin Browser
  19. I've been having issues with the webclipper in FFv21 and I tried to uninstall it. The uninstall doesn't seem to have worked since it's "stuck" and still says Evernote has been removed, and never actually clears it out (even after a dozen restarts of Firefox), and there are a number of Evernote named files/folders in my FF profile that remain, so I don't think the uninstall of the addon did much of any actual removal. (see screenshot #1) I tried re-installing the addon, and it downloads OK, but fails when installing saying "Firefox can not modify the file needed" (see screenshot #2) I'm pretty savy, and would tackle manually uninstalling if I knew what files & wher to rip it out of the profile. Any help? I can post any debug logs or additional infor you want, just let me know what you need!
  20. Recently I have encountered a problem with Evernote's Chrome Web Clipper. When I clip on the clipper icon only a small white box appears and nothing else shows up. Also when I go to the options for the Web Clipper it is just blank form with no text on it (like in the screenshot below). I have tried deleting and reinstalling the extension hoping it was just a small problem with the previous installation. However, that doesn't seem to work either, I still encounter the same problem. I also have the Safari version of Web Clipper and it seems to work just as fine. I am really stuck here can anyone help me? FYI I have Google Chrome 16.0.912.41 beta and Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2
  21. Web clipper for IE seems to work very differently and shows only text links but no graphs? This is not very useful..anybody know how to get web clipper working with IE version 10?
  22. I use Evernote to get feedback from clients/friends. What i usually do is create a note write and visualize everything i made and share that note with the client and all my friends and what i get back is a text based email referring to the note. so have have to constantly switch between feedback and my note. What i would like is a more open note that will allow peoples feedback on a skitch/web clipper like way that will allow every visitor to view the open shared url and will allow him or her to leave feedback right on the page/note Is there plans to implement this is there some trunk apps that will allow this. Let me know what you think or how you work i would love to hear that.
  23. When I hit the clip button or use the shortcut that panel shows the simplified article (love that by the way) but the clipper panel collapses immediately. Is there a way to prevent that?
  24. Web Clipper should REMEMBER the tags I have previously used When I use the Chrome Web Clipper I'd love it if the Web Clipper remembered the TAGS I've used a la Diigo. The Digo Bookmarker, aka Web Highlighter for Chrome, not only suggests tags, but also REMEMBERS the prior set of tags that I used. It would be super-DUPER if Evernote not only remembered my most recent set of tags, but my second most-recent, third most-recent, etc... Obviously this applies to all Clippers...and not just to the Chrome Clipper. Anybody else on board with this?
  25. Specifically, Chrome since I have not used the web clipper on another browser, yet. When typing in tags for a clip, the auto-suggest feature is great. I would also like it to auto-complete with the top suggestion if I hit the tab or comma and accept what is typed if I hit enter. (tab would complete and go to the next field, comma would just complete) For example, using the suggestion above, if I start typing "Bat" and the top suggestion is "Batman," I want to hit the tab or comma to complete the word "Batman" (matching case) rather than hit the down-arrow then enter. However, if I want to accept "Bat" as the tag (maybe it is a new tag) I just hit enter. Right now, if I hit tab or comma in this scenario whatever is typed in becomes the tag (in this case "Bat"). To select a suggestion (even the top one) I have to hit the down-arrow then enter. Minor issue, but it's absence smacks me every time since many programs I use do this. (google search uses tab to complete the word). It would also be nice if the auto complete was not limited to start of the word but would filter tags with "bat" in the middle of the tag like "Vampire Bat" or "Combat" Of course a smart ranking of suggestions would look at context, if possible, or last used or something. As always, feature should be able to be optional. Edit: I should mention that the web app does this almost as described (using enter and tab to complete with the fist suggestion) while comma uses what is typed. That would also be fine for the web clipper.
