  1. I am using Evernote version 5.4.3 . A while ago (perhaps before some upgrades), whenever I copied and pasted a text from the web onto a note, the web address would get automatically pasted underneath the text. This no longer happens. Now I have to go back to the web page and manually copy and paste the URL onto Evernote. How do I get this feature?
  2. Hi, I'm hoping that you can help with a problem I'm really stuck on, given I'm a premium user. Im using applescript to automate some tasks, (importing a bunch of files from a tree of directories) and it is working well. However, I need to determine if, as I'm about to upload an additional file, if I've already uploaded it before, within a specific notebook. I'd like to do this based upon having set the "source url" for each note to the location I originally attached the file from. So, as I'm creating a note, with a file attachment, I've set the source url to its path on my Mac. The problem comes when I use the "fine notes" commend with both notebook and sure url as the search string. Both are variables, which are set depending upon the notebook I'm working in, and the file I want to upload in a note (or don't want to if already present). I'm having trouble getting the search syntax right. I've need successful earlier in the script, searching for notes within a notebook, and having specific tags. However the syntax for the source url search is eluding me... too many quotes and slashes for nested quotes. its very sensitive to spaces etc. for example to fine a specifically tagged note within a notebook I used the follow, and it works well.... set searchTag to "Attachment_Index_Note" set matches to find notes "notebook:\"" & EVnotebook & "\" tag:\"Attachment_Index_Note\"" if matches = {} then # no such note...else # found the note ...end if Now to my questions... I want to do a similar search, but to see if a note in a notebook (in a variable, as above) with a specific source url (in a variable unlike above) exists. For example, I've tried... set SNotes to {} tell application "Evernote" set SNotes to find notes "notebook:\"" & EVnotebook & "\" source URL: \"" & new_attachment_path & "\"" #<<<---- The Problem Part - syntax end tell # BYPASS STORED FILE Feature if SNotes is equal to {} then # no such file ... #can make the file. end if Can anyone help with this?
  3. Here's what went into last night's release. - Nancy New Features Easy Access to Source URL - For articles and notes that were clipped from the web, you will now have easy access to the source URL in the upper right hand corner of the note. Bug Fixes (Forum Reported) Chrome Crash - Chrome browser is crashing on Chromebook & Windows - For the past 1-2 weeks we saw an issue with the Chrome browser in which on load or immediately after, the browser would crash with an "Aw Snap!" message. We asked users to either revert back to the old client or switch to Firefox, Safari, or IE. This workaround is no longer needed. Please feel free to use Chrome again. Dutch Tooltips for "Insert Link" says "Insert Line" - Thanks to our user reports we continue to fix translation and locale related issues. In our most recent fix, we updated the tooltips for the Dutch language. Please continue to flag any incorrect translations you may see. Known Issues Editing in Windows 10 Edge Browser - Unable to format text - We currently do not officially support the Edge browser on Windows 10 yet. However, we recently found and issue with text formatting where if you highlight text and try to format it, the text gets unhighlighted. We will fix this issue shortly for our Windows 10 customers. However, we recommend that our customers use one of our supported browsers for the best Evernote Web experience. If you are using Edge, please feel free to report any issues you may see.
  4. In the previous version of Evernote for Windows, a URL entered in Note Info would display as an active link next to the title. In the new Evernote Web Beta, the URL does not display. As I record a lot of links as notes, how do I get the URL to display again?
  5. I'm enjoying the note beta, but an occasionally frustraded by the inability to see the source URL for a note. (This would seem to be a particularly salient feature in version of evernote that is being access through a browser.) I was very happy, therefore, when I saw an "i" in a circle on a note today, clicked it, and was able to see URL as well as other information about the note. Now, though, I'm doubting my sanity as this feature seems to have disappeared without a trace.
  6. When I click on the URL for a note, I want to be taken directly to that note within Evernote and not go to Evernote.com if the URL links to a note within Evernote. This used to be the default behavior in Evernote for Windows but changed. How can I get the old default behavior back? Using Evernote 5.3.1.3363 on Windows 7 SP3. Thanks in advance for any response.
  7. How to publish my blog that I wrote in Evernote on Wordpress or other blog platforms ? What is my URL?
  8. Hi, first of all, the new web client looks great! However, there is something that I'm still missing. The URL in the adressbar never changes. It is always https://www.evernote.com/Home.action. When I reload the page I don't reload the page I'm currently on is reloaded but I get redirected to the "Home" page. I would prefer it if the url would change with everything I do. So when I select all notes with the tag ABC I would expect the url to change to https://www.evernote.com/tags/ABC or something similar.
  9. Hi there, recently, I shared my notebook with my friends using "Public link url". So, I gave them link via IM in order for them to join my shared notebook. They said, they already clicked the link and joined my shared notebook. How can I edit permission and see how many people are in my shared notebook if I using "Public link url"? Thank you and I can elaborate more if you need more information.
  10. hello, i am using the evernote web beta mostly on an acer C720P chrome book, in the chrome web browser, naturally, this version of chrome - Version 37.0.2062.120 (64-bit)Platform 5978.98.1 (Official Build) stable-channel peppyFirmware Google_Peppy.4389.86.0 i really am enjoying the new interface and how nice it is to use via a web browser - may make me even give up ever using the iOS iPad & iPhone evernote apps. however... please, please, please - i am begging you here, really, please add back in the feature to do url web links in notes. it is killing me currently not to be able to do that through the beta web interface. i have searched and searched all over the interface and can find no feature to do this where it used to be simply hitting the "link" button before to add a url web link in to some text. this especially hurts in creating articles i am going to port over to wordpress for blog/article posts. would you please add this back in? by the way, i would have made this a support e-mail instead of a forum post, but i apparently cannot e-mail evernote support through the web interface unless i have a premium membership - something i can readily do from my iOS apps. so, uh, yeah - please add that functionality back in also. you know, a url web link. like this one -->> evernote. yes, i can do it here in your forums, but not in the new evernote web beta interface. really hurting me here not to have that fucntionality. please add it back in. thank you. best -- faddah wolf portland, oregon, u.s.a.
  11. I decided to go with the Beta Web version of Evernote but noticed that each note no longer has its own URL associated with it. I also noticed there's a place in "Info" for each note to "Set a URL." However, I'm not sure how that is supposed to work. What do I type into "Set a URL"? Does anyone know how to use this? I bookmark on Chrome one of my notes so I can access it quickly without having to open Evernote and then click the specific note, so it's annoying that I can no longer get a direct link. Also, whenever I open Evernote now, it defaults to creating a new note, adding another extra click I need to make each time to read my notes.
  12. Hello everyone ! I am novice windows 8.1 application developer. and now I have developed small application that can send a html e-mail from internet explorer named "web2mail". http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/app/web2mail/4cd5bc93-d2e8-4d06-a678-cea9f288fd54 as you can imagine, this application is mainly intended to snap website to evernote via html e-mail. this application works well, except the note made by this application does not have a URL attribute. if possible, I would like to add a URL information to the note automatically. so far, I can find a method to add tags in subject. but I can not find any information about the URL. Is there any way to adding a URI into the email ? I am expecting that it would be a option token just like a tag in the subject, or vender-option header in SMTP like a "x-evernote-URI: http://foo.com/bar...". Thank you. I appreciate any help,
  13. Hello! We are using evernote:/// URLs a lot to reference notes in the desktop app from our project and task management in the browser. Right now the only way we are aware of to get to that URL is to copy the URL to a note (results in http://www.evernote.com/... by default) insert that URL it into a note in the desktop appedit the resulting link to copy the evernote:/// version of it I can't believe that is the only way to get it. Am I missing something? Thanks Sandro
  14. Hello, I use Firefox 99% of the time and Chrome the other times. I have the Webclipper addon for Firefox installed. If there is a URL that I would like to put in a note, or add to my "Bookmark List" I keep in Evernote, I have to highlight the URL in the address bar, open, or click into, Evernote and add the URL to whatever note or create a new note. With the webclipper addon I can highlight whatever text and right click to bring up the context menu, and then just send the text I have highlighted to Evernote or a new note... presto done. However, I do not have a Evernote option with the right-click context menu when I highlight the URL in the address bar. Is there an easy way to just highlight the URL in the address bar and send it to Evernote, whether in a new note, or whatever? Are there any addons that might be of help, or anything that I am missing that could help do what I am wanting to do? Or am I stuck just copy, open, create new note, or find note to add too, and paste? Thanks for any help. Stephen
  15. Hello, can anyone explain why the evernote url link in iphone calendar doesn't redirect me to the proper note into my evernote iphone app? Thx.
  16. I'd like to export the title, source url and associated tags from some of my notes, in order to import them into Pinboard. There are a couple of script-based solutions on the forum which produce a straight list of urls from notes, but which lose any associated tags. The most straightforward way I can think of is to export the notes as an enex xml file, and then parse this with an xslt stylesheet into an html bookmark file (such as Safari produces when exporting bookmarks) which could then be uploaded to Pinboard... if only I knew xml well enough...! I can't be the only one wanting to get tagged bookmarks out of Evernote - can anyone help me out?
  17. The problem I love to clip pages to my Evernote - it does a great job of bookmarking (i.e. capturing the url) and storing (capturing the page content, etc). But I often just have a URL, if it's a link that someone sent me, or because I'm on iOS (the mobile clipper's are terrible) The solution I'd like to post a link in the url field in a note, and have Evernote itself grab the article rather than my browser. This would be far more stable and would mean a better experience on iOS - I could just copy and paste the URL into Evernote and not worry about the browser/clipper again.
  18. I host my documents for the classes I teach at Evernote, and use the Google shortening tool available via an Alfred workflow to paste the links into emails, documents, ... the system was working just fine. Now all the Google redirects are blocked. The Google Shortened urls are no longer redirecting to Evernote, I am deleting them and replacing with Tiny urls. If anyone has a recommendation on a shortening tool please post here. I am a little suspicious of about 30 redirects to Evernote failing at once, could it be a silly pressure by Google to promote hosting at Google Docs. Has anyone else seen this,
  19. Hi, I'm curious about how to reliably generate a web link for a note. All I can find on this topic are forum entries about note-to-note links in the Evernote app. I learned a long time ago, that each of your EN notes can have a unique URL generated for it that you can access on the web. I think I encountered this just using the web interface, and saving URLs. Also, if you have EN search enabled for during web browsing, you've seen your own notes appear as google search results. If you have clicked on one of your own notes, you will see your note as web page, and also see its unique and saveable URL address. ----------------- My Question : Is there a way to just generate the URL right there in the EN app ? ----------------- I spend a decent amount of time just crafting a single EN, and would like to be able to then dump that URL into a folder on my desktop, so that I can just bring up the entire note on the web. I don't want the megs of the EN in the folder. Just the 1k URL link. It's more than a little inconvenient to have to craft a note in the EN app, and then, to capture its URL have to either open a web interface and log into EN on the web, or try to do a google search with terms unique enough to isolate just the note I am looking for. Thanks for reading. / Please advise.
  20. Hello, I'm trying to make an Apple script in filemaker to import a file (pdf) in Evernote. Here's the code generate by my Filemaker script (inspired by http://veritrope.com/code/filemaker-record-to-evernote-as-note/) : tell application "Evernote" set new_note_title to "AMAZON : Book 20130133" set notebook_name to "Import FileMaker" set new_note_text to "test note" if (not (tag named "Amazon" exists)) then make tag with properties {name:"Amazon"} end if set tag1 to tag "Amazon" --construct the note-- set note1 to create note title new_note_title from file "file://Macintosh HD/Users/seb/Documents/Import/20130133.pdf" notebook notebook_name assign tag1 to note1 end tellMy problem is around the filename. If i change the "set note1 to create…" line by it's work fine but it's not what I want to do set note1 to create note title new_note_title with text new_note_text notebook notebook_nameIf somebody have solution…
  21. When i send a note by email, links works in all my email app but gMail on iOS or on the web (Chrome on my desktop). Links in gMail website are not clickable and are not underlined . Link i talk about is something like evernote:///...
  22. In searching for ways to batch-import from Instapaper into Evernote, I came across Daigo Tanaka's script to do just this: http://daigotanaka.org/?p=1288 The script seems to run perfectly (given the Event Log), activating Evernote and pulling the source urls, but invariably Evernote hangs and the script times out. Tanaka himself said he's no applscript expert, and I'm even less of one - does anyone know if there's something in the script that's causing the hang? Or is it simply that Evernote doesn't often play nicely with applescript? Here's the script taken from Tanaka's website: -- Basic settings set myNotebook to "Instapaper" set delayInSeconds to 1 set giveUpAfter to 30 set oldToNewOrder to true -- Function to make sure Evernote is up to makeSureEvernoteIsUp(giveUpAfter) tell application "Evernote" to activate tell application "System Events" to set processCount to the count of (processes whose name is "Evernote") set trial to 0 repeat until processCount > 0 or trial > giveUpAfter delay 1 tell application "System Events" to set processCount to the count of (processes whose name is "Evernote") set trial to trial + 1 end repeat if processCount = 0 then return false end if return true end makeSureEvernoteIsUp -- Main set prevDelimiter to AppleScript's text item delimiters set AppleScript's text item delimiters to {","} log "Making sure Evernote is up..." if makeSureEvernoteIsUp(giveUpAfter) = false then display alert "Evernote did not start :(" error number -128 end if tell application "AppleScript Editor" to activate set theFile to (choose file with prompt "Select a text file containing URLs") open for access theFile set FileContents to paragraphs of (read theFile) if oldToNewOrder then set FileContents to reverse of FileContents end if close access theFile -- Loop through the URLs set i to 1 repeat with nextLine in FileContents if length of nextLine is greater than 0 then try set myData to every text item of nextLine set {theUrl} to {item 1 of myData} log {i, theUrl} tell application "Evernote" set countMatches to count (find notes ("sourceURL:" & theUrl)) end tell if countMatches = 0 then log " Adding this article…" tell application "Evernote" create note from url theUrl notebook myNotebook end tell set trial to 0 repeat until countMatches = 1 or trial > giveUpAfter if makeSureEvernoteIsUp(giveUpAfter) = false then display alert "Evernote crashed? Please try running the script again." error number -128 end if set trial to trial + 1 delay delayInSeconds tell application "Evernote" set countMatches to count (find notes ("sourceURL:" & theUrl)) end tell end repeat if trial > giveUpAfter then log " …error adding this artile." else log " …done" end if else log " Already exists. Skipped." end if end try end if set i to i + 1 end repeat -- Finishing up set AppleScript's text item delimiters to prevDelimiter tell application "Evernote" synchronize end tell If anyone has any ideas on the script - or any other method of batch-importing from Instapaper (or any other .csv list of urls), it'd be much appreciated.
  23. Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, I've not managed to find it if it has... I started using evernote earlier this Summer, and was really pleased to find a way to store all the useful info I stumble across online. However, I started off using it as a glorified bookmark manager, clipping articles into evernote and just storing the URL. However I've changed my approach now and have started clipping the whole article. Is anyone familiar with a method I might be able to use to "reclip" all those URLs I have stored to replace the notes with their clipped content instead? I could manually visit every URL and reclip it but then I'd lose the original timestamp, and it would take ages! I did look at knocking something up with the API, but I soon realised the clipped isn't available through that route. Just wondered if anyone else has evolved their approach and needed similar functionality.
  24. In the previous version of Web Clipper, when I saved an email it came with a URL that, when clicked, opened that email in Gmail. Now it just opens Gmail, and I have to find the email myself. That's a huge inconvenience.
