  2. I am learned about Evernote in March 2012 while searching for productivity tools that can be used by all my devices. I love the idea of streamlining my efforts. I'm working on how best to apply it to my high school science classes. I teach Oceanography & Earth Science. The school where I teach is adopting an 1:1 model this semester by leasing iPads for our students and for us with textbooks loaded on them. I have chosen Evernote paired with a Flipped Classroom technique to deliver content to my students. As far as I know, I am the only teacher at my school choosing to Flip my Classroom. I am a bit overwhelmed with options/choices. Recently, I saw LiveBinder. If you are using Evernote is there a need for LiverBinder? Do they work hand-in-hand? Or would it just complicate things overmuch? Since this is a pilot for me, I want it simple for me to maintain and simple for my students to learn how to use. I do see some features of LiveNote that would be nice such as the way it is visually in tabs within a binder. Can someone please clarify this for me? I love the idea of Evernote as a productivity tool and I've downloaded all of the Apps. I know it will be a transition for my kids (and me!) and parents. LiveBinder has a visual component that I feel will be comforting for all involved in the transition, including my administrators. Help?
  3. Hi, new here and I want to use EN for lesson plans when I student teach. I want to make lesson plans and attach my reflection to each lesson plan without altering the original plan. So I am wondering if I can attach a note with my reflection to my lesson plan note and if so how? Thanks! Jen
  4. I have had some success using Evernote for a university-level history course. I would like to add an electronic discussion board for students to post and comment on each other's posts. Is there a way to do that within Evernote? Has anyone figured out how to add a gradebook to Evernote that allows students to see only their own grades? Thanks for suggestions!

  6. Hola, To achieve innovation in education, is Evernote only a tool? I mean, what improvements are achieved with Evernote that can not get with other innovations? I see a PBL learning like an innovation, and I think Evernote is just a tool, not an innovation in teaching, right? What do you think?

  8. Like a lot of people, I use Evernote to collect material from the intertubes and use it in later composition. One big role is in preparing teaching material. Among Evernote's many great features, the combination of these three is invaluable When I clip something into Evernote from the web, including an image, it saves the source URL. Merge notes. I think this is an underutilized feature, but I use it often. If I'm reading an article and I think several figures from the same article might be useful as a case study in a class, I'll merge notes with the different pictures. Note links. Need I say more? If I'm taking notes from the scientific literature, I don't take the notes directly in Evernote, but use a proess like this http://twitpic.com/4bsq3g, which lets me get the notes into Evernote using tools that are more suited for the purpose. The source URL is really handy when preparing presentations to make sure I can point students (or a seminar audience) to the source, as well as providing proper citation to the image source. This may be the biggest time saver for me, since I sometimes have active bursts of energy, and toss a lot of stuff into Evernote. If I were using any other system, I'd have to make note of all the URLs myself, but with Evernote it just happens. It would be very convenient to have a URL to the attachments, not just the note links. As I mention above, keeping URLs back to images clipped from the web is not ony a time saver, it prevents accidental use of unattributed images. But if I export images to my filesystem the connection between the image and the URL from which it was clipped is broken. I currently use http:// image links via Evernote Web, but if those links are really permalinks, perhaps the client applications could provide a mechanism to copy them.
  9. Evernote is a way to get organized. It is a great, free resource that allows you to easily capture information using whatever device or operating system you use. It then makes this information accessible and searchable from anywhere. Their tagline: “Remember Everything.” It is a digital notebook that allows you to take text notes, clip web pages, upload images and files, and much more. I love Evernote. I use it for everything. Lesson plans, lesson schedules, notes, web clippings, lesson resources, travel notes and much more. I can access it on any computer and from my smartphone. I can even share notes and notebooks with other people (like my students). It is an indispensable app for me. I have my notes organized by topic and I have reference notes, lesson plans, tech tips, and much more on here. What I really love, is that I can access my notes from any internet enabled computer or smartphone. I also like the ability to "clip" web sites into a note in Evernote. What's great, is that hyperlinks on the web page are kept when clipped into Evernote. You can also attach files to your notes. I have written a full review and newbie guide to Evernote for Educators.   10. I am a sports teacher from the UK and teach a theory class about the sports industry. I started using my iPad in school as I felt it was a really good tool due to the amount it could do. Evernote has become central to my sessions as it enables me to organise and share a massive amount of information. At first I used it as a research library by clipping information and sharing the notebook with my class for them to have access to specific documents. I then got the students to start submitting their coursework on Evernote, this meant that all their work could easily be stored and reviewed and created less paper in the office. I have now started to look at providing feedback to the students via their own personal notebooks, in this way they have instant access to where they are at in their learning and it opens the possibility to continue learning outside the classroom. I can mark work and students can get the feedback well before the next lesson I have with them. It will also lead to the possibility of sharing their progress with their parents. The students have really taken to this and are even starting to use their handheld devices to complete coursework! Really looking to develop this idea over the next few months, any suggestions more than welcome.

"I will admit that until last summer I was an Evernote sceptic. The app had languished unused on my various Apple devices and it wasn't until this autumn that I began to appreciate the power of this tool. I had spent last year trying to escape the chaos of multiple paper and electronic systems by using standalone teachers' planner applications on my iPad. I stuck with Planbook for some time, finding it worked well in isolation but didn't mesh at all well with other digital resources and I found switching back and forth to my calandar frustratingly clunky. Enter Evernote. It is an online synch-able productivity tool that helps capture and store everything from webclips and images to text and audio. If you are on the road to GTD nirvana, Evernote certainly helps with the capture stage. In terms of word-processing power it is very basic indeed, but the structure of notebooks worked perfectly for the setup I was after.   15. For the last two years I've looked into many different eLearning applications and the more I look the more frustrated I became. Either they were very difficult (impossible) for me to learn or my students just could not get the hang of it and didn't want to use it. I knew there must be a solution so I kept looking. Luckily I found Evernote and it is exactly what I wanted. All I really want to do was to take course material that I have already written or plan to write in the future and put it into a format that was available to them online as well as offline and make it easy to use and even more importantly easy to edit and update without have to have a degree in computer science or having to rent a ten year old every time I want to do something. Then, along came Evernote. Within a few days I had several courses broken down and put into notebooks along with commodities charts, videos on each note, PDF files if needed. Heck everything in one notebook! Now some of the note books have about 50 note pages while others have almost 200 and some of the notebooks have about 40 videos attached so they can get quite large. My students are as excited about this as I am. I have sample courses that I can now share with the world while my paying students get shared notebooks. Simple solution. I did a little video about this and even did it in Evernote!   16. hello..I was totally happy to discover Evernote but I need some help..I'm teaching spanish and make lots of working sheets, games etc.. by myself. I don't know if it's possible to share that with all spanish teachers that I don't personally know using Evernote (like blog sharing, access via Evernote)? I started sharing it with teachers who are my friends but I think it would be really amazing if you could share your materials with anybody you want..particularly for teaching this would be great..Is that possible already? thanks!

Notebooks are great for sharing, but we didn't have any parents that wanted in on that part of the project I now use two notebooks for each class. As I co-teach two of my classes, I can share those notebooks with my co-teachers. One notebook is for artifacts The second notebook is for groups and notes

  22. Welcome to the Evernote Teaching Forum. Much of the art of teaching revolves around planning and organization. As teachers we tend to develop and accumulate a tremendous amount of paperwork. For example, as a science teacher I have binders and drawers full of notes, worksheets, labs, tests, activities, and organizers. Furthermore, most teachers tend to use a host of support material such as videos, presentations, and websites to aide in their teaching practice. Last year I began using Evernote to help manage my files. In the process of doing so I also found that Evernote’s shared folder system is an easy means by which I can share those files with my students. Evernote has, in essence, become my digital file system. As a moderator of this forum I hope to be able to help other teachers learn how to utilize Evernote’s unique attributes to make the teaching profession a bit less stressful. I will do my best to answer any questions you may have about how I use Evernote in the classroom. Of course, I also hope to glean insights into how other teachers integrate Evernote into their workflow, so please feel free to share any tips or strategies that you employ. Thanks!
  23. I have spent the last year figuring out how to use Evernote to create portfolios in both my classroom as well as throughout the school. We are a 360 student charter school with students from 3 years old (in the pre-k) to 18 (in our high school). Evernote, along with mobile and computer based technologies has allowed me to do things that I have been waiting around to do for the past 6 years. Evernote has made it possible for my students to document and share work quickly and easily, something that was impossible even 15 months ago. The marriage between smartphone/itouch technology and Evernote has transformed how students can create electronic portfolios.
