  1. Hi, I know it's as designed that selecting a parent tag doesn't include notes that only have a child tag applied to it. However, I would really like this feature. I don't mind if it's a setting that should be set in the preferences or something like that, but it would make some things really a lot easier. Thanks, Tom
  2. I need to see the tags in the lists. Without this it is impossible to use. You suddenly hid them, and there the information necessary for searching and navigating, the description of the content. Earlier in the lists I could see the content type: file, schema, article, instruction. Now I can not.
  3. I would like the ability to copy all the tags from one note and paste them into another note. Here is how I imagine this functionality working: Right-click a note in the Note List. Select Copy Tags from the menu. Right-click a different note in the Note List. Select Paste Tags. Both notes now contain the same tags.
  4. Hello, I am attempting to use Evernote to organize my files and need some help. I am a pastor attempting to catalog and organize my past and future sermons. They are written documents and what I would like to do is highlight quotes, stories, statistics, etc. tag them appropriately, and have them automatically added to a master file of quotes. Is there anyway to tag and organize portions of a document without simply copying and pasting over and over? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks,
  5. Good day all. Long time Evernote user, finally seeing the light on tags vs notebooks. So I am slowly moving into tags for whats in Evernote, but my main workflow is from email corepsondance I get. That said, when I forward an email into Evernote, Im missing the last tag. For example, if I forward an email and the subject is "Super important Email #tag1 #tag2 tag3 !tomorrow" Evernote gets it, with tags Tag1, Tag2, but #tag3 shows up in the subject. What more, sometimes NONE of the tags go through. What am I doing wrong?
  6. I am currently using evernote for mac. When adding a new note, I have always been able to click on the tag icon at the top of the note and get a drop down list of my current tags. Just recently I lost the ability to use this tag icon to get a drop down list of my tags. For the life of me I cannot work out why? I am running macOS Sierra 10.12.4. It did coincide with a web clipper error too where the tags were going in backwards i.e. 'gat' instead of 'tag' but I checked the forum and reinstalled webclipper and that seemed to assist. Many thanks in advance.
  7. Hello, I am not able to add tags for shared notebooks: "Tags not supported". It does not work on Chrome (44.0.2403.125 (64-bit)) WebClipper version: 6.5.3 nor on Safari (same version). Do you have a solution for this? Thanks!
  8. I cannot add or edit tags in this version. I click on the icon and nothing happens. The notebook icon brings ujp the notebook list. Is it a unique problem for me? Fixes?

    Edit Tags

Hi Everyone, I'm trying to edit tags inside a note on the web version without success. On the Mac and Windows Version I'm able to do it, by double clicking the tag. Is there a way to edit a tag, inside the note, on the web version? (without deleting it and creating the new one) I tried on Safari and Chrome.
  10. Mac OS has a feature in Keyboard preferences that will replace a character sequence you type with a different one. I'm trying to use this to create my own "star tags" since Evernote refuses to add these to the product. For example, I've set the feature to replace "3 star" (without the space) with "★★★". This works when editing a note's text. But it doesn't work when adding tags, and it should.
  11. As we're helping people create workflow processes, I noticed myself and a lot of other ECCs creating groups of tags like: "Expenses - 1 Submitted" "Expenses - 2 Approved" "Expenses - 3 Paid" "Expenses - 4 Flagged" What if there were a special kind of tag that has a button allowing users to simply tap to toggle to the next tag in the list? User sets up tags in File>New Toggle Tag as an ordered list When tag shows up with note, it bears a special marker/dot/button. When user taps button on tag it automatically changes to the next tag in the toggle tag's list This would allow users to change a tag with a single tap. This would also prevent having to pull down a list of tags to put in the next or successive tags AND eliminate the need to delete the previous tag and add the new one. Simplifies workflow, agreed?
  12. Hi, I've seen that to find untagged notes, one can search using criteria: -tag:* Does anyone know if theres a similar way to find tags not assigned to any notes? Of course it is possible to navigate to tags and observe number of notes indicated behind the tag name, however I am asking about search criteria. Please share your ideas. Cheers. Naz.
  13. I would love to use tags in the Evernote Desktop app more often, but use less effort in doing so. Perhaps Evernote could suggest or automatically append tags as I type the note, and I can approve them as they appear, or after I have written the note.
  14. Hello! Am I the only one who am bothered that we can't search for tags or notebooks in the Evernote extension clipper in iOS? I'm sure I'm not the only one using Evernote that have an extensive tags collections in combination with a lot of notebooks. This means that every time I want to add something I try to clip from say Safari, I need to scroll all the way to find the right tag, which most of the time can't be done easily. Especially when I'm on the run. I can't seem to find any other thread about this issue, so hope this reach the right people and that it can become included in the roadmap. I don't know how it's about you, but this literally makes me NOT want to use the the clipper function most of the time, and with that less use of Evernote... I mean other apps does this excellently. Example: Day One journaling app So why not Evernote? Please fix this.
  15. In Evernote Desktop, there is a feature that you can search directly within a certain notebook, and if you search tags, it will display tags from only within that notebook (not from other notebooks). In Evernote Web, you're limited only to the search function that displays every notebook and the tag function which also displays every notebook. It makes it hard for me to organize a single class's Unit 6 notes (tagged with Unit 6) from other classes' Unit 6 notes in Evernote Web. I think it will be a nice feature to add that search feature.
  16. At times there is a problem with my Evernote Interface (GUI). The Tags Icon is covered by a Tips Icon (resembling a light bulb). When this occurs it is impossible to use the Tags Icon. Does anyone know why this occurs?
  17. When your in evernote application in Windows. You have the ability to assign tags (Tag Note = CTRL+ALT+T). You get a list of Tags (see Attached) It would be nice, when your view tags in this screen if it showed the tags nested. For example, All the test tags in the screen shot are actually create underneath another Tag. It would be nice if your in the assign tag screen that you can choose a view to see the tags in their nested state instead of all the tags being flat.
  18. How exactly do tags work in shared notebooks? I am working collaboratively quite often with new users (Who I often make download and use Evernote). Suffice to say I am ussually doing most of the organisation of notes for them, to have some kind of order... The setting are users can: view and edit. I know I can tag notebooks any way I like... 1) Do they see/have access to my tags? Or Am I only one who can see the things I tag? 2) Can they add tags on a shared notebook? And if they add tags on my shared notebooks... Is it only for their eyes? Or do we all have the shared tags they decide to add? Thanks. Need to know this before I give advice for them on using tags to help me organise things systematically...
  19. UPDATE: Awesome! I never knew this ctrl-q feature, completely solve my problem, very very very grateful --- When you're in evernote Windows, you have the ability to assign tags (Tag Note = CTRL+ALT+T). You get a list of Tags (see Attached) It would be great if this interface has the filtering feature. I have 400+ tags, each time I use this assign tags, I have to locate it in a bunch of tags, too painful and waste time. If you also support this feature, please bump or vote for it.
  20. The Benefit of Using Tags Over the last year or so there has been a lot of discussion about the benefit of using Tags in Evernote. Some users have completely quit using Tags, claiming they see no benefit. While I have given a number of examples before, a real world example just occured with me, that I would like to share with all of you. The Earnings Report for CalAmp, symbol CAMP, came out today, so I wanted to see what I had researched previously and saved in Evernote. So, I just did a quick search of "intitle:camp", thinking that should be good. But, to my surprise, I had a number of false positives. The Search returned Notes about "Boot Camp", a Mac system software, as well as Notes about camping. But when I did a search using Tags, "tag:sym.camp", I got perfect results. I had decided long ago to tag all of my Notes about the stock "CAMP" with one from my Evernote Stock Symbol list, which is Tags that all begin with "SYM." So, all I have to do is click on the Tag filter, start typing "sym." and I'm presented with my "Stock Symbol list". As I further type, adding a "ca" then Evernote autocompletes my entry to "SYM.CAMP". I hit ENTER, and I'm DONE. I now have a very accurate Search results, very easy to search for, and very easy to apply tags to the appropriate Notes. Well, this was a long story to provide you with a real-world example that literally takes seconds to use, and avoid false positives!
  21. Adding support for tagging within Penultimate as well as an option to auto tag Penultimate notes based on source notebook would improve their functionality within EN. In my workflow, I'm capturing notes in real time, most often noting a phone call. Being able to use tags from within Penultimate post fact of the conversation to properly categorize the note that was sticky even if the note was moved between EN notebooks would be welcome feature.
  22. It must have been a few months since I last used the tags function. But now when I log back in, I found all my tag groups are gone, and all tags are scattered around with no tag group whatsoever... I'm curious, this issue is never reported????? I know for sure I have my tag group before Evernote has that huge UI upgrade in iOS... after that I don't remember checking my tags...
  23. Ok, So I am new to evernote and I was searching around for ideas of how to structure my evernote. I wanted to share wihte other new people and receive comments / feedback of how others use. My goal for evernote is mainly to have a core location for my important files such as taxes and other files I store in google drive Examples of using organization in Evernote (Attached is a diagram of how I have my evernote notebacks and stacks set up example, organize by year. The bellow structure is - Stack -- notebook -- Tags _INBOX (Default Notebook) -- All emails and scanned files go here, tag as need then move to appropriate notebook _My-Files (notebook) -- All files with Tags go here if they don't go underneath financial management Notebook Stack -- (Stack) -- Collection of notebooks for taking notes IT Notes (Notebook) -- Random IT notes work related or home go here John Notebook (notebook) -- Where random notes about things will go Work Related (Stack) -- All work related Notebooks and files go here My Work Locations Wife Work Locations zFinancial Management -- Stack ( I start the stack with a "z" because I want the stack at the bottom of all the other stacks Taxes (notebook) -- W2, 1099, 1095, etc... actual tax documents saved in this notebook Expenses (notebook) -- everything below are tags - Anything with the below tag will likely be saved in Expenses Notebook YYYY --- Will tag with the year plus some of the below Receipts Utility bills Medical Receipt Loans Bank Statements Credit Cards Budget Checks Tax Deduction ** NOTE ** Because tags above exist underneath notebooks this is just an example of showing where files would moved if one of those tags are added to it TAGS <<-- What I have so far 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 Airlines Wife Backup <<-- I tag attachments with one of these tags letting me know I have the actually attachment backed up online some where such as Gdrive G-Drive G-mail Dropbox ME (my name goes here) Confirmation Number House Items Electronics Invoice-Receipts House A Expenses House B Expenses Kids Johnny Jane June Ginger Organization Notes Photos Receipts Medical Receipt Resumes Taxes Tax Deduction Travel Houses << -- Past houses we have lived in House 1 House 2 House 3 Utility Bills Websites Naming Scheme << -- Still in work Generic YYYY-MM-DD-category-company Documents tied to a person YYYY-MM-DD-Person-File_purpose/category Receipts YYYY-MM-DD-Vendorpurchasedfrom-Item TAGS Search for Notes missing tags -tag:tagname <<< this will show you all files that DONT have that tag name I am about to integrate filethis.com into the above structure but I haven't yet
  24. Evernote couldn't get rid of it old cons - it has bad user interface and it works slow. So I quit Evernote after years of trying to benefit from it. I used Basic, I used Premuim for year or two - it doesn't matter. I always end up collecting a bunch of unrelated data I can't use. Sync with that evernote-award-winning Swipes didn't help. Nothing did. I quit Evernote for the bunch of reasons, here's main: speed, structure, user interface and threrefore - usability. Speed Now I use Simplenote each time I need a quick text pastebox or a quick note. 1680 plain text bits and counting. Size varies from the names to articles or the books. Search is a lightning. Launches less than in a second, works offline everywhere, syncs flawlessly. Extra options - txt in zip archive, dropbox sync. For free. Structure Workflowy is for the structure, tasks, notes and thinking process. I keep there 20.000 + and counting notes and texts. Still works faster than Evernote did. 2 seconds to launch desktop chrome app which works offline and 3-4 seconds for mobile app on the iPhone 5. Workflowy has it's cons but there's a structure can't be beaten. I outline my 20.000 notes they way they can be seen in a 600x280px window. Though I prefer 600x780px to see 30 lines of my data. Wonder what are the dimesions and the complexity of the interface needed to handle this data ocean? 600x73px. 8 buttons and a search field. I use 3 of them. Also there were 6 keyboard shortcuts I needed to remember. 2 of them was "copy" and "paste" I happen two know before. Copy and paste works for thousands of notes user can move and outline in the same time. #tags for additional organisation. Works instantly. All tags can be placed anywhere in text. Rest is done by the google drive, google keep, google docs and related services. Images? Paperless? One can shoot and save photos right into the folders on the google drive today. + You can save images for your research right from the google image search. Camscanner is the best tool to digitalize documents. Can't be beaten today. Dropbox provides save features without image fine-tuning. Png, or PDF. Dropbox Recorder app is used to record long audio - this is the only tool I'm not sure is the best on the market, I'll be thankful for better advice. Still - today I see the once revolutionary ideas in the fundament of the Evernote was neatly implemented by others. I can write, record, photo, collect, outline and never forget anything without good old elephant. The thing is Evernote is still the only tool that can do everything at once somehow. So there's a few people might be happy to stick with it. It's just not for me. Every time I've looked at the Evernote for this years I felt a strong urge to redesign it from the scratch. For now - farewell, Evernote. We're done untill I get a letter from the HQ hiring me to prototype the new everything ) PS I decided to post this here because of the continuous error {"success":"false","reason":"csrf_failure"} on the Premium to Basic transition page.
  25. Switchable Capitalisation and Case sensitivity when creating tag names If you type in "abc" as a tag name the system (at least on Mac app) automatically capitalises the first letter producing a tag of "Abc". If I actually want "abc" rather than "Abc" I have to edit the tag manually. If I want two tags "Abc" and "ABc" I have to fight the system. When typing in the tag name the system will automatically select whatever matches. Hence if "Abc" already exists as a tag, typing in "ABc" as a tag name is automatically changed to "Abc". To force "ABc" as an outcome requires typing in "AbBc" and then going back and deleting the "b" before pressing enter. My feature request is that it be a user preference to switch on or off case sensitivity for tags - and to be able to choose whether the first letter of a tag is automatically a capital letter.
