  1. UPDATE: Awesome! I never knew this ctrl-q feature, completely solve my problem, very very very grateful --- When you're in evernote Windows, you have the ability to assign tags (Tag Note = CTRL+ALT+T). You get a list of Tags (see Attached) It would be great if this interface has the filtering feature. I have 400+ tags, each time I use this assign tags, I have to locate it in a bunch of tags, too painful and waste time. If you also support this feature, please bump or vote for it.
  2. The Benefit of Using Tags Over the last year or so there has been a lot of discussion about the benefit of using Tags in Evernote. Some users have completely quit using Tags, claiming they see no benefit. While I have given a number of examples before, a real world example just occured with me, that I would like to share with all of you. The Earnings Report for CalAmp, symbol CAMP, came out today, so I wanted to see what I had researched previously and saved in Evernote. So, I just did a quick search of "intitle:camp", thinking that should be good. But, to my surprise, I had a number of false positives. The Search returned Notes about "Boot Camp", a Mac system software, as well as Notes about camping. But when I did a search using Tags, "tag:sym.camp", I got perfect results. I had decided long ago to tag all of my Notes about the stock "CAMP" with one from my Evernote Stock Symbol list, which is Tags that all begin with "SYM." So, all I have to do is click on the Tag filter, start typing "sym." and I'm presented with my "Stock Symbol list". As I further type, adding a "ca" then Evernote autocompletes my entry to "SYM.CAMP". I hit ENTER, and I'm DONE. I now have a very accurate Search results, very easy to search for, and very easy to apply tags to the appropriate Notes. Well, this was a long story to provide you with a real-world example that literally takes seconds to use, and avoid false positives!
  3. Adding support for tagging within Penultimate as well as an option to auto tag Penultimate notes based on source notebook would improve their functionality within EN. In my workflow, I'm capturing notes in real time, most often noting a phone call. Being able to use tags from within Penultimate post fact of the conversation to properly categorize the note that was sticky even if the note was moved between EN notebooks would be welcome feature.
  4. It must have been a few months since I last used the tags function. But now when I log back in, I found all my tag groups are gone, and all tags are scattered around with no tag group whatsoever... I'm curious, this issue is never reported????? I know for sure I have my tag group before Evernote has that huge UI upgrade in iOS... after that I don't remember checking my tags...
  5. Ok, So I am new to evernote and I was searching around for ideas of how to structure my evernote. I wanted to share wihte other new people and receive comments / feedback of how others use. My goal for evernote is mainly to have a core location for my important files such as taxes and other files I store in google drive Examples of using organization in Evernote (Attached is a diagram of how I have my evernote notebacks and stacks set up example, organize by year. The bellow structure is - Stack -- notebook -- Tags _INBOX (Default Notebook) -- All emails and scanned files go here, tag as need then move to appropriate notebook _My-Files (notebook) -- All files with Tags go here if they don't go underneath financial management Notebook Stack -- (Stack) -- Collection of notebooks for taking notes IT Notes (Notebook) -- Random IT notes work related or home go here John Notebook (notebook) -- Where random notes about things will go Work Related (Stack) -- All work related Notebooks and files go here My Work Locations Wife Work Locations zFinancial Management -- Stack ( I start the stack with a "z" because I want the stack at the bottom of all the other stacks Taxes (notebook) -- W2, 1099, 1095, etc... actual tax documents saved in this notebook Expenses (notebook) -- everything below are tags - Anything with the below tag will likely be saved in Expenses Notebook YYYY --- Will tag with the year plus some of the below Receipts Utility bills Medical Receipt Loans Bank Statements Credit Cards Budget Checks Tax Deduction ** NOTE ** Because tags above exist underneath notebooks this is just an example of showing where files would moved if one of those tags are added to it TAGS <<-- What I have so far 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 Airlines Wife Backup <<-- I tag attachments with one of these tags letting me know I have the actually attachment backed up online some where such as Gdrive G-Drive G-mail Dropbox ME (my name goes here) Confirmation Number House Items Electronics Invoice-Receipts House A Expenses House B Expenses Kids Johnny Jane June Ginger Organization Notes Photos Receipts Medical Receipt Resumes Taxes Tax Deduction Travel Houses << -- Past houses we have lived in House 1 House 2 House 3 Utility Bills Websites Naming Scheme << -- Still in work Generic YYYY-MM-DD-category-company Documents tied to a person YYYY-MM-DD-Person-File_purpose/category Receipts YYYY-MM-DD-Vendorpurchasedfrom-Item TAGS Search for Notes missing tags -tag:tagname <<< this will show you all files that DONT have that tag name I am about to integrate filethis.com into the above structure but I haven't yet
  6. Evernote couldn't get rid of it old cons - it has bad user interface and it works slow. So I quit Evernote after years of trying to benefit from it. I used Basic, I used Premuim for year or two - it doesn't matter. I always end up collecting a bunch of unrelated data I can't use. Sync with that evernote-award-winning Swipes didn't help. Nothing did. I quit Evernote for the bunch of reasons, here's main: speed, structure, user interface and threrefore - usability. Speed Now I use Simplenote each time I need a quick text pastebox or a quick note. 1680 plain text bits and counting. Size varies from the names to articles or the books. Search is a lightning. Launches less than in a second, works offline everywhere, syncs flawlessly. Extra options - txt in zip archive, dropbox sync. For free. Structure Workflowy is for the structure, tasks, notes and thinking process. I keep there 20.000 + and counting notes and texts. Still works faster than Evernote did. 2 seconds to launch desktop chrome app which works offline and 3-4 seconds for mobile app on the iPhone 5. Workflowy has it's cons but there's a structure can't be beaten. I outline my 20.000 notes they way they can be seen in a 600x280px window. Though I prefer 600x780px to see 30 lines of my data. Wonder what are the dimesions and the complexity of the interface needed to handle this data ocean? 600x73px. 8 buttons and a search field. I use 3 of them. Also there were 6 keyboard shortcuts I needed to remember. 2 of them was "copy" and "paste" I happen two know before. Copy and paste works for thousands of notes user can move and outline in the same time. #tags for additional organisation. Works instantly. All tags can be placed anywhere in text. Rest is done by the google drive, google keep, google docs and related services. Images? Paperless? One can shoot and save photos right into the folders on the google drive today. + You can save images for your research right from the google image search. Camscanner is the best tool to digitalize documents. Can't be beaten today. Dropbox provides save features without image fine-tuning. Png, or PDF. Dropbox Recorder app is used to record long audio - this is the only tool I'm not sure is the best on the market, I'll be thankful for better advice. Still - today I see the once revolutionary ideas in the fundament of the Evernote was neatly implemented by others. I can write, record, photo, collect, outline and never forget anything without good old elephant. The thing is Evernote is still the only tool that can do everything at once somehow. So there's a few people might be happy to stick with it. It's just not for me. Every time I've looked at the Evernote for this years I felt a strong urge to redesign it from the scratch. For now - farewell, Evernote. We're done untill I get a letter from the HQ hiring me to prototype the new everything ) PS I decided to post this here because of the continuous error {"success":"false","reason":"csrf_failure"} on the Premium to Basic transition page.
  7. I see "My Favorite Tags" with the STAR icon, but how do I see all tags?
  8. I am using the latest windows desktop version: 5.9.1.8742 and the latest android version of evernote. I use many tags with two words, for example “Europe France” and “Europe Germany”. When i try to tag a note with “France”, the tag list doesn’t show “Europe France” tag. Facing the same problem on evernote android app but on evernote website its working perfectly ! I am missing something? or the desktop and android version doesn’t support this? Please help.
  9. Can I select in the webversion notes, specifying they do contain tags A and B, but NOT C? And other kind of combinations? Thanks.
  10. Hello, In Evernote for iOS (iPad, iPhone), you could see in the preview of a note its associated tags. In Evernote 8 for iOS, this is not more available. I wonder why have they removed tags in the preview of a note. There should be an option where you could choose which elements can be seen in the preview of a note. Now you could only choose images and texts, but not tags. Best regards, Aleksandar
  11. Hi, I don't know when it started, but at some point Evernote started tagging my clips automatically based on the text in the content being clipped. I searched the forums and found how to turn this "feature" off so it wont' do it anymore, but now I'm stuck with HUNDREDS of one-word tags cluttering my tags list and would like to get rid of them. To solve the problem, I click on the icon for TAGS in the left sidebar, which brought up the whole list of tags. I then did a CTRL-A (on a PC) to select all of the tags I held down the CTRL key and clicked to de-select any tags I wanted to keep. I had to scroll to the right several times to get through the list because there were so many tags. It was pretty easy to quickly see which ones were auto-generated without reading all the tags because the auto-generated tags usually had a (1) or (2) next to them indicating how many times the tag is being used. The tags I created myself were used more than once. Once I had selected the tags I wanted to delete, I clicked the Delete key on my keyword. You could also right-click and select Delete from the context menu Hope this helps someone else who finds they have accumulated a lot of unwanted tags.
  12. When I write a notice I use tags (I hope this is the right English word) to organize them. I have a complete list of tags, that I use. How can I show this list and choose from it, when editing a notice? tx
  13. When searching for tags, Evernote is including deleted notes. If I select a deleted file, the bottom of the note says "This note is view only" and it's current location is the notebook it was last in before being deleted. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there a setting to fix this? Searching for tags is an integral part of my daily work as I'm sure for many other people as well. I also cannot delete the notes in my trash notebook. I have, on rare occasion, needed to find a deleted file. Regards, Lawrence
  14. Evernote 8.0.1 Hi. When a note is open, how can I see the tags applied to it displayed next to the notebook name? Many thanks, Marturott
  15. Hi there. Love Evernote, especially how easy and fast it is to search for notes based on tags. I'm missing some kind of tag management though. I have over 1,000 notes and a lot of tags, often entered in a hurry. I end up with multiple tags that are kind of similar. I want an easy way to reduce the number and variation of my tags. For example, I go to the Tags view, select "Email campaign", "email list", "Email lists", "Email marketing", and I want to replace all tags with one called, let's say, "Emails". Ideally I would right-click and select Merge Tags, but no such option exists. I have to do it manually, which annoys me, so I don't do it, which reduces my satisfaction in working with the tool. Thanks for considering this (or another better) idea for managing tags.
  16. I have an issue with searching within nested tags. Windows client. Version 6.4.2.3788 (303788). Premium user. See my two attachments. First attachment is the search bar from when I select parent and nested tags. Second attachment is a nested tag structure within my evernote account. . When I search (while the parent and nested tags are selected), the search defaults to a general search and I get results that are not in the 9 tags that are selected. I only want to see results that are within the tags that are selected, not the keyword I search on for every note in my account. I've tried the "tag:" parameter and it does the same thing. If I select a tag that doesn't have child tags under it and search on a keyword, it only searches notes with that tag, as expected behavior. I think I found a bug searching within nested tags? Am I doing something wrong?
  17. Olá! Gostaria de ter um campo de busca na seleção de etiquetas do Web Clipper do Evernote para ios. Tenho muitas etiquetas e seira mais facil poder buscar etiquetas na hora de enviar algo para o Evernote no ios.
  18. Hi, Does anyone nows if it is possible assign specific tags for a notebook? There is anyway to let the specific tag be used only when I work with the notebook? Thanks
  19. I can see all my notes using my iPad and Iphone, however when I use my Mac, i only can see a few notes. Even the tags, I can see just a few using the Mac.
  20. I wish it were possible, while adding tags to a note, to create a new sub-tag. It is currently quite easy to create a new top-level tag simply by typing its name into the note's "Add tag..." field. What I am suggesting is to choose a delimiter (I know this is a challenge with so large a user base) such that you could type: dog:poodle. This would create a new sub-tag "poodle" under the existing tag "dog," and add the note to "poodle". Use case for this: In processing new, incoming notes, I often need to create a new sub-tag to fit new subject matter. At present I need to switch over to the tag hierarchy, find the parent tag, right-click, choose "Create Tag," and type the sub-tag name. Then I return to the note and type the sub-tag name. My suggestion could lead to the possibility of adding new subtags via the subject line of an emailed note. For me these changes would make using Evernote much smoother. Dan

    Sharing Folders

Hi, A few weeks ago I decided to introduce Evernote to my team of developers. We decided to create an Evernote account each to share interesting articles and information we find on the internet. We created 3 sharing folders with the team, but we found out that Evernote is (most of the time) not working with Safari. Some colleagues can't place articles in the sharing folders straight from the internet with the web clipper. They simply can't select the sharing folder or add tags (see print screen) to their articles they want to store in those folders. My question is how to fix that? Hopefully someone is familiar with this problem and can give me some tips or tricks to solve this problem! Thanks!
  22. It´s possible to create tags within an existing tag. What is this good for? Hot do i use it. I couldn´t find hints in the help. BTW it seems impossible to drag such a subtag that way that it becomes an normal (Level 1) Tag. It automatically gets an subtag of another tag. Even if a black line as destination appears. I guess this is a bug. I have the same problems arranging Notebooks. Thank You.
  23. In the latest update of Evernote for Android (version 7.9.7) I noticed two major bugs: Problems viewing all my tag in the search: Searching within the app with a tag (e.g., typing in the search field the first letters of the desired tag and than clicking on the auto-suggestion for completion) still works fine. But when want to I refine the current search by choosing another tag from the tag list, only a small amount of tags in random choice is displayed, i.e., not all my tags are showing up. Opening a note from the widget has become slower and has problems: Selecting a note or reminder from the widget, opens the note as before. But when I want to return to my Android homescreen by clicking the Android back button or the back button of the app, this brings me to the list view of my notes, still remaining inside the app. This different to the previous app versions and somehow annoying and time consuming. This is, however, the first part of the bug. When I subsequently click on the Android home button and I select another note from the widget, the app doesn't show me the selected note, but still brings me back to list view of my notes. I have to close the app and reopen the note again in order to see the note. This is the second part of the bug. Overall, opening a note from the widget has become noticeably slower. Is anyone facing the same problems?
  24. It is not possible to create new tags on the web clipper for articles saved in iPad or iPhone browsers from Safari to Chrome. Why? One can only use existing tags that are created with web clipper under Windows in my case. So, not being able to create tags as needed when clipping on iOS devices is a serious limitation of Evernote. Is there any effort to add this important and obvious feature into Evernote web clipper?
  25. Hi there! I've had Evernote for a couple of years now, but I really need you guys to help me out here! I'm a French student attending a business school, on a Bachelor's degree and I have had issues organising my notes in Evernote. From what I've read on the internet, it seems that using tags instead of notebooks is the better way to get organised. I am currently following a 3 year course, and I am therefore taking classes that have 3 different levels. I thought of a system of tags that would go like this: Maths Year1 Chapter Sub-Chapter Year 2 Chapter Sub-Chapter Year 3 Chapter Sub-Chapter However, Evernote won't allow me to duplicate tags (Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 throughout all the different subject). Does anyone have a piece of advice for me? Thanks in advance!
