  1. Hello, I'm using EN 5.5.1 (402628) Apple Store on my mac. When i type in the search box this : tag:karine tag:voiture, this should return me all notes which contain those tags but this will return me nothing. I tried too this syntax : any: tag:karine tag:voiture Any help on how to search notes with multiple tags would be appreciate.
  2. Hi, I'm sorry for my English, I translated from French to English via Google Translate... So my request is to have the opportunity to highlight a note so that we can better get used to it when working on a big project by immediately recognizing the notes that require our attention and those that seem to be not important in the 'immediate. Here is the illustration of my idea : Please, take into account, Thanks to all the Evernote team for creating such an application, I use it daily and I am very satisfied! ToniCSR
  3. I am switching from PC to Mac and am having trouble with searing in Evernote on Mac. Specifically, I heavily use the ability to search for note text within multiple tags. On Evernote for PC, this is simple -- I just use the search field above the notes list:) For some reason I am not finding this option in Evernote for Mac: Is there a setting I need to turn on? Or is this functionality accomplished in a different way on Evernote for Mac? I realize that this could possibly be done using an advanced search string, but the problem with this is that it doesn’t autocomplete the tags as you add them. Any thoughts?
  4. As of now, Evernote on the Mac will only show me my tags that begin with the word "cat" when I type that in. It won’t show me the tags I've already created for "black cat" or "siamese cat", for example. (When adding tags to a note, not when searching.) I am sure people will suggest that I make all tags follow this type of format: cat black, cat siamese, etc. I have run into problems with longer words and phrases, especially when tagging a note on my phone. Longer tags don't appear in their entirety, so sometimes you can't tell what specific tag you are adding, only that it's one of your "cat" tags, so to speak. I think there must be some name for this kind of suggested-search behavior in computerese, but I have no idea what that is.
  5. Nesting tags is a great organizational feature but it would be much more powerful if selected tag hierarchies could be added to the shortcut sidebar just as nested folders are. I know you can see them in the Tags Sidebar, but if you have thousands of tags, which I do, it's impractical. It would useful, say, to drag an "Action" tag hierarchy, with a dozen tags, to the sidebar and be able to collapse and expand it to access the individual tags. This seems so obvious, I'm wondering if it's possible and I just can't see it. Any ideas?
  6. I have been using EN for several years, and think it's great. But sometimes it ticks me off. Just now, on my iPad, I clipped a New York Times recipe into Quick Notes, with "recipe" as a tag. A few minutes later, I open EN, and can't find the damn thing! It doesn't show in Quick Notes and it doesn't come up when I type "recipe" in the search field. In the past, I have also had problems finding notes that I knew contained at least some word I was using to search with. Isn't EN now supposed to be able to search everywhere inside a note for the word that is searched by the user?
  7. What the hell, I just signed into evernote and 90% of my tags are gone from the beginning of the year, I just noticed this because I've been out of town but did Evernote do a system update or something that erased information from their servers? I'm always running into problems with your service!
  8. Another feature request in this forum suggests that Notebooks should become hierarchical. I disagree with this because tags can already be hierarchical. The problem as I see it is that Evernote doesn't encourage or allow for an easy way to view tags and their hierarchy. An example of where a tagging system works very well to me is Gmail. Gmail allows an email to exist within different tags just like Evernote. However it also offers a sidebar where you can view a tree-structure of tags (parent and child tags). Since Evernote effectively encourages the use of tags as descriptors, most of us probably have too many tags that are disorganized. This is one of the biggest weaknesses of tagging and using tags poorly. I do the same. So from that perspective, my idea may not sound appealing. However if there could be a way to have a tree view of tags in the sidebar, I believe it would encourage more careful use of tagging and allow notebooks to remain untouched.
  9. Hi Everyone, I use Evernote, Pocket and a few other services. Tags are the center of my organization and I would like to keep them consistent across programs. It would be great if I could export my tags on Evernote and then be able to import them in other services, even if this involved arrange the way that tags were exported from evernote, I understand it would be difficult to export them in a way that would fit all other services structure. Is there a way already to do this? Thank you
  10. Hi, I selected a bunch of notes and wanted to add a tag. In adding the mix of autocorrection and my typing led me to delete the tag of this specific note selection. I quickly went off line but saw that the notes were untagged. Is there any way of finding these notes again? I have over 10.000 notes and the chances are not too high that I will find all the notes that had that specific tag very easily. By the way, typing in the tags-field when multiple tags are selected is a mess :-( Thanks in advance, Arjan
  11. Please provide ability to add Evernote tags to Penultimate notes from within the Penultimate app.
  12. I would like to be able to set up automatically updating notebooks that contain all notes with certain tags, ideally specifiable with Boolean operators (e.g., "tag1 and tag2"; "tag1 or tag2"). The resulting smart notebook should then be markable for offline access.
  13. Whenever I try to add a tag to a note, Evernote presents me with the previously used tags. While that's helpful, what is very frustrating is the behavior if I am not selecting one of the recommended tags. For example, I want to add the tag 'SQL Conventions'. When I start typing and type a capital S, the first recommended tag has a lower case 's' and Evernote converts my upper case 'S' to a lower case 's'. Even if I keep typing and add the capital 'Q' my Evernote shows my tag as 'sQ'. I have to complete the tag, set the cursor to the 's' and then replace it with 'S'. This makes adding tags take way longer than it should take.
  14. I bet En knows exactly how many relatives** a tag has. So we should have a program choice to open/collapse all tags to the first level, then the second level, then the third level. Something like "Control +" or "Control -" Here is the original discussion with the problems raised: **Note: Meaning: i.e. who is the parent of the parent of the parent (etc. to the top)
  15. This concept is from Calibre Companion (an ebook app where you can select ebooks by various criteria) which includes a switch that says "group by first letters". If this were a switch I could turn on, then I wouldn't need to create these tags: A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J, . . . And I could use this feature under more than one tag tree. Here is the original discussion with the problems raised: https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/107829-organizing-tags/
  16. I have created some tags and applied them to various notes. When I remove a tag from the last note the tag is automatically deleted. Is there a way to change this behavior? I would like to keep the tags around for future use. Thanks, Brad
  17. When users share notebooks with each other, they should each have equal access to the full capabilities of Evernote organization, especially tagging. Otherwise they are not fully collaborating. To only allow the owner of a notebook to tag notes defeats the purpose of working collaboratively.
  18. As a long-time EN Premium User (who exclusively have been using the Mac application) I love the option "filter by tags" that you can use in every notebook. But now I've just realized that when I share a notebook and then open it in a browser then you can't use the option "filter by tags" which I find extremely annoying and unproductive. Because now I can't recommend Evernote for my company (where I work as an an archivist) since the whole idea was that I could enter thousands of sources and then the staff at my firm would be able to find what they're looking for through the "filter by tags" option (where you either scroll down for the right tags or search for the tags you're looking for). How come this vital option isn't possible in the web version of Evernote? Or did I overlook something? ?
  19. Easily copy-pasting tags between notes are possible in Evernote Mac version, as far as I know, it would be nice if it's possible in Evernote app for mobile devices. Right now the closest way to achieve that is by duplicating an existing tagged note, clearing its content, then copy pasting a new content to it. But if the copy-pasted content has formatting, clipped from websites for example, then sometimes the formatting will be screwed. It'll be nice if there's simply a "duplicate tags only" aside from "duplicate note" option in the menu.
  20. So I started using Evernote much more this year than in previous years. I'm a writer and it's easy to organize my thoughts with my notebooks, etc. My problem is this: On my tablet and on my phone, I have no issues accessing my notebooks or my tags. On the web app, I see the icon for my tags but can't click on it and I see no way to look at all of my notebooks. This is frustrating because I frequently jump from notebook to notebook and I can't seem to do this on the do this on the website (or web app, I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at).
  21. Hi there, I would like the Helper Icon to allow the user to type #tags @notebooks similar to sending to the Evernote Email and using the subject line. It would allow users to step into the application less frequently to use the functions this would provide. I've attached an image to be clear with the concept because I do appreciate the simplicity of the Helper Icon as it is now. It allows my work to stream out in a manner that differs from the iPhone application yet is still delightful in that difference. It's everyone wishing they could just open up a text document and write's dream. Thank you, Evernote Team. Joseph Anton Carter @enjoyafilmJoe
  22. The Ctrl-Alt-T's shortcoming is no filtering support, so we have to look for the target tag in a stack only with our eyes , which is so slow and ineffective. The Alt-F2 and Drag way's shortcoming is that, once after I add a tag to a certain note in the -tag:* search list, this note will disappear in the note list immediately, because it's no longer compliant with -tag:*, which make it impossible to add the follow-up tags. If the tag on the toolbar support not only prefix match, but also searching, it indeed completely solves my needs. But it seems not support yet, right? So for now, what is the fastest way to add multiple tags to a note?
  23. I have a pretty large way of managing my tags/ nested tags. I begin by creating categories of tags - herein my example is "Tags by Partners" Then I nest tags within those categories. However one thing I noticed is that when I nest them with the categories I made, they are not organized or sorted in an alphabetic manner - And there is no way to organize or sort them according to my own preference. I am using a Macbook Pro - OS Sierra by the way.
  24. I think I've tried every possible button in the interface, but I can't find any way to create a new tag ( NOT add an existing tag to a note) in Evernote on the iPad. Also found no help in the knowledge base. Is there really no way to do this?!?
  25. I have tags - Q1,Q2,Q3 and Q4. I would like to find any notes that do not have at least one of these tags. I have tried: any: -tag:Q1 -tag:Q2 -tag:Q3 - tag:Q4 but this doesn't work. I have tried same with -any: at the beginning. I have tried tag:-Q1 tag:-Q2 tag:-Q3 tag:-Q4 and with any: at the beginning. Grateful for any help. thanks
