  1. Could not locate this topic while searching, so here is my suggestion: Clicking on the arrow on the right side of a tag in a note shows you all the notes with that same tag, but if you want to add that tag to shortcuts, you have to locate it first in the tag list. It would be helpful to be able to do it from the note (or even from the notelist), maybe as one of the menu options when you right click on the tag .
  2. ⌘-Del would make a fine shortcut for it. I end up forgetting it doesn't have one and try using it. It feels like a natural fit.
  3. I have been using tags for a long time with Evernote. But when I try searching for a note, I get so many results that I have to wade through, and most of them don't even seem related to my search inquiry. Is there a way to get results closer to what I am looking for? I have tried using two or three keywords only, but still get too many notes not even close to what I am looking for.
  4. In Android, there is no option to copy a note. The duplicate option will create a copy but with the 'tags' in it. When using templates, during duplicating a template file creates a copy of that template as a note, with the tags given for template. If I use add some tags to a template note, this will not copied when I use 'copy note' function in Windows but not in Web & Android.
  5. Any way we can assign tags to images in a note(or at least insert a tag line on top of a image in that note)? I have lots of images in one note so I can browse through them easily by swiping left/right in IOS/Android Apps. But some images share the same characteristics so I want to assign a tag for these images. Right now I have to create separate folders to manually sort out all images in "Main folder", say folder 1, folder 2. I use main folder to insert all images and I use sorting folders to group images sharing the same characteristics. I have to manually copy each image in main folder to different sorting folders. That's very painful and causes multiple copies for one "master" image and if I want to annotate the "master" image, I have to copy the changed master image to the sorting folders again. Main folder(10 images) folder 1(5 images) folder 2(4 images)
  6. Hi-I am running the latest version of High Sierra (10.13.4) and Evernote (7.2). I have seen this issue with tags for awhile now. I have 18,000+ notes. I am a paid user. It used to be that I would start typing in a tag name to rename it and the list would pull up (*see additional information). Not anymore. It used to be that if I didn't type anything into the tag search box, all my tags would be listed. Not anymore. I used to be able to see all my tags (when selecting Tags in the sidebar) and delete the ones with zero count. Not anymore. *In order to rename a tag I have to type it in (having selected Tags in the sidebar), it shows me (on the right) how many notes have that tag, nothing happens so I hit Return and it takes me to the notes that have that tag. So far not helpful. I then have to select Tags again in the sidebar and there is the tag that I wanted to rename! It used to be when I typed in a tag name, it would appear, I would correct the name and that would be that. Not anymore. Is it just me? Did something drastically change? Or??? I hope that someone can advise me. Thank you.
  7. When adding tags to a note on Evernote for Mac, a list of matching tags populate a dropdown that narrow as you type. On the iOS app, all partial matches are shown, whereas on Mac and Web clients, the matching tags are only by start of text match. I would prefer partial match across all clients for consistency and easier tag adding.
  8. Some of my shortcut items are tags, and some of these have nested tags underneath them in my hierarchy. When I click on the down-arrow next to the "mother tag" all the babies appear. All well and good. But when I add new subordinate tags to these existing ones, even after syncing Evernote doesn't show these new tags in the drop-down menu. I have to delete the tag from Shortcuts and re-add it to make the new one appear. This seems like a bug.
  9. I use Evernote for some fairly extensive research, and some more robust tools for managing this would be appreciated. In particular, quote management tools. Features that I would like to see include: Highlight colours. "Quote blocks" (I currently use code blocks for big quotes but they are a bit fiddly). Tagged highlights (e.g. a tag for the author or subject of the quote). Quote compiling: a dynamic list of all highlights, with the ability to sort by tag. I currently use an app called PDFExpert for highlighting PDFs, due to it having multiple highlight colours and a dynamic list of highlights/notes (though you cannot tag quotes).
  10. I find very often that lots of new notes in a notebook will use the same tags as the first note in the notebook... It would be so fast and easy to be able to copy the tags from the first note and paste (or share) the tags to the new notes as they are created and added to the folder. Please add this feature!
  11. Oh my search tags are missing. My Internet has been out so I spent some time off-line setting up tags in Evernote and then tagging all my notes. I went out today and connected to Wi-Fi in my car and didn’t think about it if yours later I tried to make a note and add some tags and all the tags are missing. Not only that, some of the notes I tagged we’re missing also. Oh my search tags are missing. 12. http://www.harmonenterprises.com/blog/organize-evernote-notebooks Thought I'd throw some chum in the water for the relentless notebook sharks. I'm one of those taggers who uses very few notebooks, based on access (local, synchronized, shared, offline), not content, but I have to admit that Harmon makes a compelling argument, especially since tag organization cannot currently be viewed on all platforms.
  13. I find it cumbersome to have to switch to my tags overview whenever I want to move a tag in my sidebar. Because I have one nested tag for 'Active Projects' and one for 'Inactive Projects', and it would be much easier to manage these when tags can be edited directly in the sidebar. Thanks!
  14. Hi, I shared a Notebook with a new user. The new user is able to see the Notebook and the notes tags. However the user doesn't see any tag in the Tags page, see attached screenshot.
  15. Guessing this has been suggested already but didn’t come up in a simple search. Would love to be able to create tags on the fly when adding content to Evernote on iOS via the Share widget (mostly often used when in Safari as a web clipper). This functionality was added to the Safari Web Clipper plugin on Mac at some point and definitely led to an increase in my Evernote usage.
  16. Is there any way to create "internal links" for tags, similar to how there are internal links for notes? (See the attached.)
  17. Can you search for tags in Spotlight, similar to how you can search for notes?
  18. Hi, how can we rename a tag, with any other existing tag name? For example, I have a tag name "defence sector", which has more than 50 notes. I want to replace tag "defence sector" with "defence". How do I do that? I mean, replacing a tag with another tag.
  19. Things like "Years" 'Dates" "Months" (dates as whole dates and also as individual components by themselves) should all be treated as smart tags automatically. Instead of requiring me to make a tag before I can send to it in email, please let me just add any year or date or month or day of week automatically to any note and send in via email so that i can be organized on a whim. this would 1) make our tag lists more condensed and organized (Would create more screen real estate on phones and desktop as if i have a list of 10 different years that i tag notes with then it makes a list) 2) make inputting of notes easier and more streamlined Note: i find that yes, i can technically search by date in the apps some how - at least on desktop i know i can, but the date the note was created is not always the date that i'm tagging something with and searching by date is not visually infront of us, and only needs to appear as a tag option if we happend to lable stuff as it. You can put it all under a single smart tag group called "calendar" for notes deliberately tagged with certain dates days of week, months or years.
  20. Hi. I'd like to be able to filter out notes based on tags. For example if I tagged notes I've read with "#read" it would be nice to filter out those to see which notes I haven't read. Thanks!
  21. Huge fan of Evernote. I use it as my personal filing system for all of my scanned documents. Embracing the "true way" of Evernote, I have only 8 notebooks, meaning each notebook has hundreds of notes, but I make thorough use of tags. There are many files that I need to access offline (especially for traveling), such as my ID, passport, medical licenses, insurance card, etc. Right now, I have to make my entire "Personal Documents" notebook available offline, meaning there are hundreds of unnecessary notes taking up space on my phone. I would love the ability to select a tag for offline availability, or to anoint individual notes for offline, a la Dropbox.
  22. When I create a new notebook, most of the notes within it will have many of the same tags. I would like to have the ability to copy or import tags from another note so that I do not have to keep typing the same tags for each note that I create.
  23. The old version of EvernoteWeb could help in search when I wanted to search with more tags and words. I have a lot of tag, and I miss the tag autocomplete function. It is very annoying that I have to type everything (and correctly!) each time, like: tag:bar tag:"multiple words tag" foo text Please (re)add autocomplete function when I type "tag:" in the search field to help and speed up searching.
  24. Using Tags as Pseudo Notebooks (pNB) [Note: At the urging of another user, I have started a new topic for this subject. I posted the below originally in Jan 2016. I am in the process of rewriting, fine-tuning this article, but for now the below is a copy of my original post at Using Tags as Pseudo Notebooks . The basic design of pNB has not changed.] My knowledge of how to use Tags continues to evolve. This has been largely due to limitations Evernote has placed on Notebooks. So, the question is: How does one make the best use of the tool they have? Notebooks (NB) are limited to 250. Tags are virtually unlimited at 100,000. Tags can have a hierarchical structure of Parent Tag / Child Tag, much like the folders that you see on your computer. So, if we can model NBs as Tags, then we can effectively have unlimited NBs and sub-NBs. One of the most appealing features of Notebooks (and folders) is how they visually appear. But what if we can do the same visual layout with Tags? Stay tuned to learn how. I use tags in two fundamentally different ways: Pseudo Notebooks -- use in place of where you would normally use a notebook. This includes sub-notebooks. Note Categorization -- traditional use of tags to categorize the entity, which can have multiple tags. Can be used across Notebooks, or in this case, across pseudo NBs. Using Tags as Pseudo Notebooks Tags can be organized in hierarchies (meaning Parent-Child relationship). So we can achieve the appearance of Notebooks and sub-notebooks, Without going into a lot of detail at this point, I have created a number of Tags which serve as pseudo Notebooks. Note that all of the pseudo NBs, actually tags, all have a prefix of ".NB.", which makes it easy to identify which tags are pseudo NBs, and will cause them to appear at the top of the Tag list. You can, of course, use any prefix that works for you. One great advantage of using tags as pseudo NBs, is that you can assign multiple pseudo NBs to the same Note. Can't do that with actual NBs. Each Note can belong to only one NB. So this allows me, for example, to assign multiple pseudo NBs of .NB.IT, .NB.Business, and .NB.Personal to the same Note, which is the asset record for a new Mac, used in both business and personal activities. Now when I search or filter on any of the 3 pseudo NBs it will find the asset record of my Mac. I now have all of my pseudo NBs that appear at the top of my Tag list, and the pseudo NBs can, and do, have sub-pseudo NBs. Here's an example: As a result, I now have a need for ONLY 3 main Notebooks, plus any Notebooks needed for sharing or mobile offline use: Please feel free to post any questions or comments. EDIT: Mon, Feb 29, 2016 at 12:36:27 PM CST For more discussion on pseudo notebooks, see Using Tags as Pseudo Notebooks (original post) Do you find lots of notebooks or notebook stacks useful?
  25. Many of us work primarily from a tablet, I work from iPad. There are many usability features missing from iOS that makes using Evernote extremely inconvenient. On iOS though we can see our tags, we cannot rename nor delete them. On iOS there is not a way to export our notes to a .enex On iOS there is not a way to import a .enex Those three missing feature are a tablet user’s Evernote deal breaker. Being able to work around them we must get to a computer. Many road warriors gave up on desktop computers, and as their laptops give up the ghost they are moving to tablets. I know some that gave away their laptops preferring the convenience of a tablet. Evernote’s web UI is abysmal, sorely lacking in features. Come-on Evernote, you need to put much more effort for us tablet users. Be aware, Bear and OneNote now have extremely good Evernote .enex import ability.
