  1. There should be no " read only " lock on skitch documents. I NEED to add TAGS to my skitch documents or what's the point ?? Tagging is essential to Evernote yet skitch an Evernote product , you can't tag. Either inside skitch or inside Evernote .... I need to be able to add tags !!!! I shouldn't have to save my skitch as a jpeg then upload to add tags. Evernote is about convenience, not being able to tag skitch documents is unreal !!!!!
  2. I have been using nested tags for some time now to organize my notes. For example I have a 'root' tag called "people" under which I have nested "the wife", "the kid", "the boss" And I have a root tag called 'employers' under which I have tags for my current and former employers. This enables me to link notes across notebooks. In Evernote 6 for Mac non-MAS (I have tested this with first 6.0.2 and now 6.0.5) I can no longer nest new tags. And I cannot unnest my tags. Hope EN will fix this in a future release (soon).
  3. Im on Samsung Galaxy Note 2 android 4.3 and I'm not able to edit or delete tags from the tag menu. Please add the basic feature of editing tags and deleting them from the tags menu that is available in windows. mac and even ios! Ability to select multiple notes to group tag them is also a much need feature. The latest update made the app very clean but there is still room for improvement. It will be awesome if we were able to receive the feature updates at the same time as ios. Ability to change theme would also be nice.
  4. Hi there, I'm looking for a way to use the same tag (or tags) for several notes that I will be creating in a batch without having to reenter the same tag. These notes will be in a notebook with different tags, but I will be entering a whole bunch of notes with the same tag before I move on to another set of notes with some different tags, so if I didn't have to reenter the same tags that would save a lot of time. I'm looking for a way to do this on my windows desktop application primarily, but if I could know how to do this with the android and web version as well that would be really useful.
  5. When trying to tag a new note created in Evernote for Android, the tag list has no hierarchy, rather its in alphabetical order. Anyone else find this counter-intuitive? I've gone through the trouble of creating the tag hierarchy only to have it removed when needed in Android. If any dev's are checking this out, this is just a constructive criticism of EN5 for Android. It would be more efficient to have the tag hierarchy maintained when trying to tag a note in Android. The only workaround I know is to create tags that have the hierarchy in them. This becomes cumbersome and the tags get long. For example: Projects Projects.Work Projects.Personal Projects.Home Projects.Home.Basement Projects.Home.Attic Music Music.Business Music.Songs Music.Song Ideas Music.Song Ideas.Completed etc.
  6. Hi I need to tag my notes better. I don't tag them at the time instead they get done at the end of the day. It looks like evernote does not provide a way to select a tab and have it appear in a note so I thought I'd try to do it myself. Here's what I think will happen create/open a spreadsheet window which will hold the hierarchical tagging structure. each tag will be in its own cell and end with a comma. I will open the note in evenote windows and select to add tags. I'll then select the spreadsheet window and choose the tag I want with right click - copy then select the evernote window and right click paste. select the spreadsheet window again and repeat for all the tags I need. My expectation is that I will be able to write a macro (3rd part app) do the above so that once the windows are opened and placed in the exact screen locations I only need to select the cell I want and the macro will do the rest. My tagging needs to be extensive and hierarchical. if I have an annotated daily chart then it will be tagged wealth, financial.trading, charts, analysis, annotated, eurusd, daily, completed, unremarkable etc does it look like this will work okay? Are there better ways to do it? thnx
  7. When clicking Click to add tag... I would really appreciate a drop-down that: 1. Allows for manually adding tags similar to the current interface and... 2. A list of all of my tags that can simply be toggled. Thank you for your consideration!
  8. Hello Everenoters, a question for you, I've moved to an organization based on tags, it makes my workflow much cleaner and notes are easy to retrieve at the right moment. When I'm offline, I want to have access to all my notes tagged read & work for example. Is there a way to store notes matching a saved search for offline use on Android?
  9. Hi, So i have been collecting online newspaper articles on rape stories in India. Now the rape reports usually contain the location information in the text itself and i am dealing with cities like Mumbai and New Delhi, basically the major cities. Wouldn't it be nice if the clipper fetched this from article text and input it or at least provide 2-3 options ? Or location entry could be possible in the dialog that opens up ? Currently we can enter comments, tags and notebooks only. If the location thing was taken care of, it would be nice... After i have aggregated data i was hoping to visualize the rape data across cities among other places... May be i should write my own small program for web scraping and then putting up stuff on maps... Sincerely, SkishChampi
  10. I was doing a presentation on Evernote the other day - using a company projector. If you ever do this, you probably notice how your video changes the resolution to match that of the projector. Well, at the smaller resolution, the toolbar on my notes in evernote was just narrow enough to hide the TAG button's title, but not the icon. The result was that it you still have a tag button, but it doesn't do anything. When my toolbar is 551 pixels wide, it looks correct, and works: But when my toolbar gets narrowed to 547 pixels wide, it looks like this (showing icon, no title), and does not work: It took a minute of fooling around to figure it out. Just an opportunity for improvement, and a heads up to other Windows evernote users.
  11. I am trying to nest tags, but cannot find a way to do this. Drag and drop does not work in the tags view and also not in the sidebar. How can I achieve this? I'm using Mac OS X 10.8 Mountian Lion with Evernote 5 from the MAS.
  12. Hi All, New here, so hello! I've been an EN (Premium) user since Jan 2013 (Latecomer, I know) and it's revolutionised the way I do things. As a consequence, others in my life are now having to work around me and EN! I share a couple of notebooks (one full of general, 'normal' typed notes and the other full of a mix of emails/notes/.pdf/scans/etc) with a colleague of mine and I can't for the life of me work out why she can only see my tags list (and/or use them) in one of the notebooks and not the other. The permissions on the two notebooks are identical, both were created by me (Premium) and shared to her (free user), yet she can only use my tags list in one. I must be missing something, as the former one works perfectly, and exactly how we would like it to (i.e. she can only use my tags, not add new ones of her own, meaning she has to use my brain map/logic when tagging my notes, so to speak). Any help greatly appreciated as this is driving me round the bend! L
  13. How to tag in Evernote is a huge topic (and has many threads here) so I'm going to try to narrow this down a bit. The tagging philosophy that has been working for me for a while now falls into two groups of tags: locations and people. A rule of thumb for me is that any person that gets three to five notes in my system usually deserves a "promotion" into a tag, and this has been working great. Similarly, places that I create notes for (in my place, I teach in two places, so I have two tags, then there's one for the school I study in) get a tag after 3 to 5 notes as well. Again, great success. I only have three tags under locations and about ten under people. As I worked more with the tags though, I learned that some people (especially my significant others) have too many notes (for me this means usually beyond 30 notes) I need to organize under that name. Same goes for location tag. So I'm looking into expending in a way and creating subtags that make sense, but I'm not sure what these are yet. What do you guys think? Another issue are all the notes that don't get tags. I have many of these. For example my general computer stuff: a picture of my serial number, a hint for a wifi password at my sister's place, my printer model. This doesn't really fit into any location or person (even though in this case the wifi note does get my sister's tag), but still, I have a lot of notes in that general category - I am just not sure how to call it. Whatever I come up with I forget and I usually end up looking for keywords I remember from inside the note anyway. Many people in the G+ productivity community I'm a member of (and here) also swear by different "action" tags. This is another category in itself, especially now with reminders that sometimes become a note worth saving. I don't like action tags because they are too dynamic. Changing from "to do" to "done" is a daunting task when you have to do it more than ten times a day. I tend to fall into the notebook per project group, but then I have an issue of when to create a notebook (when does a "thing" become a project?) I don't think you need to tag everything (as a matter of fact I like GrumpyMonkey's philosophy for titles, and I use it quite a bit), but I do want to create a couple of more categories to help me find things. What do you guys think?
  14. Hello everyone, I had the opportunity to be a guest blogger on Daniel Gold's productivity blog. I explain in 5 easy steps how to tag documents more effectively for easier retrieval and grouping later when you search for your notes on Evernote. I hope you enjoy it: http://www.dangoldes...er-tagging.html Here's a photo from the post. See if you can guess why it's in the article: -- roschler
  15. Hi everyone! My company decided to use Evernote to work for projects. Currently, we have 1 premium account (which I'm using it) and the rest are free account. I have created 2 notebooks:- 01. Work-related 02. Projects and also tags that are necessary for my colleagues to tag (because I understand that free account can't create tags that are not created by the premium account user) Under 01 Work-related notebook, i have created a notebook with tags like "projects", "need attention", "meeting notes" My question - Since I have created the tags and have tagged them to a note, why wouldn't my colleagues able to tag their note using the tags which I have created? Thank you very much!
  16. How can you tag a group of documents? Doesn't seem logical to have to label a hundred of them one at a time. The 'edit tag" is gray when I pick a group of documents and can't see a feasible way to drag a tag on top of them. Thanks
  17. I am new to Evernote and consider myself fairly savvy when it comes to learning new technology. However, it just won't tag. In the desktop panel screen, if I click on "Click to tag" and type in a tag name - nothing happens. If I go through the "Note" and "Tag..." selection processes from the toolbar, select the correct tag(s), click "OK" - nothing happens. Am I missing something or is there a compatibility issue going on? (The "Evernote" icon displays as a "can't load JPG" icon in my toolbar which leads me to question compatibility...) Appreciate any assistance!
  18. As a developer, I'd thing this would be incredibly beneficial and it isn't hard. It would make it easier to filter RSS feeds of public notebooks only for specifically tagged items. Of course, by default it would be disabled and would have to be enabled in the shared notebook's options. I'd expect the tags to be shown in the standard <category> tag of the XML <item> Thanks!
  19. Your tagging and archiving system is crucial and here is how Evernote could greatly improve it: Evernote must implement something like this:http://handytag.elitwork.com/home.htmlhttps://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/handytag Explanation from me (and the Firefox add-on author):It makes bookmark tagging easier, by providing a complete set of most relevant keywords. These keywords are retrieved from many different sources :the tags you already gave to one of your actual bookmarks.the keywords the webmaster gave to his webpage.the tags given by del.icio.us users for the same page.the tags the keyword extractor found using KGen (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4788).and finally synonyms for the above found keywords. You no longer would need to make a brainstorming session each time you want to add a new bookmark. It will do it for you! Please forward this feature request to Evernote. If this becomes part of Evernote I will move my complete bookmarking system from a certain competitor over to Evernote and become a Premium member. I'd be happy about a short reply. Thanks!

  21. I noticed this immediately after updating from 4.6.2 to 4.6.4 for both the 'Note Info' toolbar and the 'Edit' toolbar. When I am adding tags via the Note Info toolbar and they fill up prompting the dropdown arrows to appear, the dropdown menu will work for one more tag, then show a blank white box across the entire program when going to enter or view more. It usually goes away if I minimize and maximize a couple times to let me enter one more tag, then goes back to doing it. The Edit tool bar does the same thing upon clicking it's dropdown arrows. Am I the only one experiencing this?
  22. 1. Is the idea to add enough tags so you never have to go through your list of notebooks and notes on the lefthand side, and you can instead just use the search field at the top? 2. Why would you add keywords to a notebook? Wouldn't you just add them to the notes within the notebooks? Thanks in advance.
  23. I am using Evenote on my iphone, ipad, and work computer. I have no problems tagging a new note when I use the iOS app or web clipper, but when I add a new note in Evernote web, there seems to be NO place to add a tag! Since I am not able to download software on my work computer, I have to use Evernote web. Shouldn't there be a tag icon somewhere??
  24. After frustratedly rearranging my folders on my mac today for the 1000th time, I found myself longing for the power and simplicity of the Evernote filing system. I think it's time someone disrupted this whole traditional folder-based file system. There are several file-tagging solutions available for OSX, but how annoying it is to have such a great filing system in Evernote, and then have a separate filing system for my local files. And with Evernote, the lines between "notes" and "files" are now totally blurred. Dropbox, Box, Google Docs also have this same traditional file-based organization. I'm wondering if there are other people like me - that are willing to jump ship and go to a completely tag-based file system. If I there are others like me, what if Evernote published a deeply integrated solution for all of my files. Those files that I tag might then be automatically added to my Evernote world (auto-synchronized, versioned, OCR'd, etc). It would be incredibly valuable. So in short, my request is this: Evernote, please replace my folder-based file system. I'm tired of it and you guys could do a much better job!
  25. When adding a new (i.e. non-existing) tag to an EN note my Mac starts the tag in upper case. Recently I decided recently to use only lower case tags. Is there a way in AppleScript to bulk rename the existing tags to lower case? How can i prevent my Mac from creating tag(s) starting in upper case?
