  1. Hello, I use Evernote on my desktop, the web version, and the iPhone app. I hadn't used Evernote in a few weeks. I opened the iPhone app and searched for a tag that I know is there. It didn't find the note I was looking for. I tried a few more tags. They didn't work either. Then I tried the desktop version and it doesn't work either. I just get a message saying "no notes were found". My complete tag list is still there, and you can see how many times the tags are used, but the mapping of tags to the notes seems to be missing on some of the notes, like the tags have just disappeared from the notes. Meanwhile, the web version is just fine, and still seems to have the tags intact. While I was troubleshooting this with both the desktop and web app open, I got a message saying synchronization was complete, and after that, when I clicked on the tag I was using as an example, the note I was looking for came up in the list, but the note itself still doesn't seem to have tags on it, and in fact I can't even figure out where in the desktop app I am supposed to be able to add tags! Dragging and dropping from the list to the note does nothing. I have screenshots of all this, if it helps. What the hell?!
  2. HI was wondering about if a certain feature existed or is planed on being implemneted I know in Evernote you can put in the search box, "tag:home" but is there a way to exclude a tag. For example, i have a tag named Useless for my archive folder so that I can tag notes with that, that i dont need anymore but i dont have time to deal with them. Is there a way to do this?
  3. I've discovered a bug after upgrading to 5.0.1 (400591). When attempting to create a child tag by dragging and dropping an existing tag onto another in the tag view the resulting child tag disappears. The tag still exists in the program and is searchable, but does not appear in any of the tag lists (tag view or tag tree in side bar). If you search for the tag in tag view it simply highlights the parent tag, but you cannot select the child tag. After restarting Evernote the child tag reappears, but obviously there is a bug in the code where it refreshes the tag lists.
  4. When tagging, do I really need to start typing the whole tag from beginning to be able to select the proper tag from a dropdown menu that shows? You know what I mean, yeah?
  5. Is there any ability with Applescript to walk through evernote and assign higher level tags in a hierarchy? For example, if I have the following tag structure - TagA - - Tag 1 I would like to set up a script that would assign TagA wherever Tag1 is assigned.
  6. How can I assign tag to my notebooks? For example i have 30 notebooks sharing the tag "work" amonge my 1000 notebooks, now i want to filter all notebooks contain the tag "work". It is none sense to tag each and every note inside those 30 notebooks with "work" tag. Is there a way to tag the notebook themselfs with "work" tag so that i dont have to tag the notes inside them? So i want to do something like this... - show me all my "work" notebooks - show my all my "school" notebooks .... Thanks,
  7. I have added a bunch of items and decided that I wanted to ensure all items had a tag. I went to click "tags" and it shows all the tags and how many notes are applied to that tag. However, there is no way on the Android (unless someone can help with that) to show all the items WITHOUT TAGS. 1) Under Windows, one can "sort" the tag column and everything w/o tag can either float to the top or bottom. 2) On Android it would be nice to show a single/final grouping called "Untagged" and a count. Then I could click that and ONLY see the items w/o a tag. Then I can go through that list. The beauty with the Android product, if you select a specific tag to browse by and then edit the item and remove that tag, that item now disappears from the list once you save it. So if I can see all those items w/o a tag - then once I assign the tag(s) they will automatically disappear. As I am tagging the list will get shorter to the point there are no items without tags. The product is really a big filing cabinet - and I see this as a way to help file things in their right place without having a giant misc/sundry/untagged bunch of data (assuming that you want to use tags in the first place). belly
  8. I have made a new shortcut to a tag but when "starting" this shortcut I see the last opened list but not a list of my notes with this tag. Shortcuts to notebooks and shortcuts to single notes work as expected. This seems to happen since the latest evernote 4.2.2 for android, because before this update a was able to create shortcuts to tags and they worked. Even old shortcuts to tags are still working, only new creted shortcuts to tags do not work. I have tried this with a Nexus S (smartphone) and a Nexus 7 (tablet). Both the same. I have also completely uninstalled Evernote and Evernote widget on my Nexus 7 tablet, deleted the whole evernote folder and installed Evernote again. The problem still exists. Please fix this. Thanks.
  9. Hi, this is my first post. I'm Frank, an happy evernote user. Since I reordered some stuff, my evernote account now has 650+ notes and 100+ tags. On Android app, although I have the latest version available from the Play Store, there's no way to use tags as a filter in a specific notebook. So when I select a tag/multiple tags, instead of showing tagged notes of the selected notebook, it shows all notes with that tag there are in ALL notebooks. Don't know if it is the same also on other supported mobile platforms. 'Tag as a filter per notebook' has always worked on desktop clients. I use both Windows and Mac OS X versions. I'd appreciate your help. Frank.
  10. I'd love if EN would either hardwire an "Invisible" tag completely hiding any notes which were tagged with it, until the show/hide feature were turned off. Of course if I were really dreaming I might choose to add this feature to custom tags or indivitual notes, but I think hard-wiring it would be the easiest way. I'd definitely kickstart it with a few shekels if given the opportunity! How much could this cost to develop?
  11. I get a variety of email that I funnel to Evernote for future reference. Generally this involves, 1) forwarding something from my email inbox to evernote 2) when the note posts on Evernote, I tag it accordingly. I would like to be able to use 'pre-processor' commands so that the note when emailed to evernote (step 1), would eliminate the second step. Something like #tag:tag1 #tag:tag2 #notebook:DailyNotes The '#' can work as a pre-processor command for evernote. . this would save me a great deal of time since I would not have to in essence go to Evernote. It should also save a lot of processing time on the Evernote servers, since I then don't have to go to evernote, open the note, tag it, move it to an appropriate notebook & then sync it.
  12. If I create a note and tag it "btag" "ctag" and another note tagged "dtag" "atag" when I sort them in list view, the first appears above the second - but this is based on the arbitrary order of the tags assigned. This is quite frustrating as it means that if I don't assign tags in alphabetical order, I won't get alphabetical sorts. Any thoughts?

    mac (Archived) REQUEST: Tag column

I wanted to try the Secret Weapon approach (http://www.thesecretweapon.org/), but I can't figure out how to display tags in the list view. I'm using Evernote for Mac (in German, if that matters) When I "right-click" on the top of the list, I can chose title, notebook, author etc - but not tags. Anyone know how to do this? Please?
  14. I have my tags organised in a hierarchy much like files in windows explorer. It'd be cool if you could mark a tag as a 'placeholder' tag. ie. you can't actually use it when tagging a note, it's just created to make a hierarchy in the tags. Ideally it wouldn't even show up when you start typing the tag name - possibly one advantage of marking it a placeholder. Maybe you could then even allow duplicate tags if they are placeholders. Implementing it, I imagine you'd just have a tickbox in the dialog box that pops up when you create a new tag that you can tick if you want it to be a placeholder
  15. Hi I like the tag hierarchy functionality of evernote, and I still wonder how this can be really used on android in daily life? Maybe I miss something? Imagine a 3-level tag hierarchy of only 5 items on each level. So lets try to tag one single new note. 2 clicks, and I am on the tag dialog - where I find a flat list of 5+5*5+5*5*5=155 items. Now, I've only got to scroll down some 30 screens to find my tag :-((? If this tag setting dialog was hierarchically structured: it would only take me 3 more klicks to tag (in this case)! I would be able to find my tags quickly I would be helped enormously keeping my tag structure clean - much less similar tags, lost tags, unstructured tags, etc...
  16. Hey everyone I'm hoping to find a way to identify all the notes that I scan into Evernote. I have a Fujitsu ScanSnap and I'm hoping I can use the "source" search operator. This is how I have it set up right now: http://goo.gl/Q17jl But it's not getting any results, unfortunately. I'm pulling the source from this info page: http://goo.gl/pGihj Can anyone help me out? Is this even possible?
  17. Hello, All of a sudden Evernote does not auto complete entered tags anymore. Doesn't matter if I want to tag an old note or a new one. As you can see on the screenshot I created a new note and started tagging with co... You see that I have a few tags starting with co but I get not offered any of them while typing. Please help, Regards, Marc
  18. When I save note (url, page, etc...) from Chrome Web Clipper plugin, I write one or more tags but when I see the note on Evernote, there's no tags. I can modify it directly from evernote (web or android or Blackberry). It is a bug or are there any setting to do? Thanks.
  19. I have recently opened a group sponsored account and have everything related to my company moved to this account and then shared the notebooks to colleagues. Then, we found out the tag function is not working. The list of tags are totally segregated between individual shared notebooks which means if you click in the tag, only those notes with the same tag in the same notebooks are shown. THERE IS NO WHERE TO SEE ALL TAGS AND NO WAY TO BRING ALL NOTES WITH THE SAME TAG TOGETHER IF THEY ARE IN DIFFERENT SHARED NOTEBOOKS. What's the point of tagging? We cannot believe Evernote have not thought about this when rolling out the coporate account idea!! Moreover, some basic functions available at Evernote Web are not applicable to the desktop app. So basic that I'm just talking about deleting a note or moving it to another notebook! This is causing so much more work to the admin staff of the company! These flaws must be fixed NOW!!!!
  20. I'd been frustrated before by Evernote's inability to find notes with only one tag, since there's no way in the search grammar to say, "Return all notes with tag X and no other tags." Anyway, I finally figured out a workaround. This isn't rocket science, so many other of you may already be doing this. But I present it here so any of you who find it useful and don't already have this saved can C&P the search into Evernote for future use. First, select the tag you want in the tag list, or put "tag:[desired tag]" in the search bar. Then pasting in the following: -tag:a* -tag:b* -tag:c* -tag:d* -tag:e* -tag:f* -tag:g* -tag:h* -tag:i* -tag:j* -tag:k* -tag:l* -tag:m* -tag:n* -tag:o* -tag:p* -tag:q* -tag:r* -tag:s* -tag:t* -tag:u* -tag:v* -tag:w* -tag:x* -tag:y* -tag:z* -tag:1* -tag:2* -tag:3* -tag:4* -tag:5* -tag:6* -tag:7* -tag:8* -tag:9* -tag:0* -tag:!* -tag:-* -tag:.* -tag:#* -tag:@*Important note: You need to remove from that list the negator that has the first character of your desired tag. So if you're searching for tag "Religion," delete "-tag:r* " from the list. The search should be the technical equivalent of "tag:[desired tag] -tag:* ," where the wildcard removes (almost) everything else. But if you have tags beginning with symbols besides !, -, ., #, and @, you may need to add those too. One example I searched just now: I wanted to find all notes I have tagged with "Economics" and nothing else. Clicking the Economics tag shows 315 notes. Copying the string above into the search bar leaves me with 16 notes. I see that the first note showing is also tagged with "Education," and since I really wanted to totally isolate just the "Economics"-tagged notes, I added "-tag:education" to the search bar. Then I see a note tagged with "Eurozone," so I did the same thing: add "-tag:eurozone." Finally, I was left with 7 notes tagged with "Economics" and nothing else. I hope this is useful to at least one of you.
  21. After I renamed a parent tag, all its children tags are gone. I tried to rename it back to original name, still no children tags under the parent tag. I found all the children tag still exist just won't show on tag tree. I search with one of the children tag, the notes are still there. Is that possbile to make all the disappeared tags back on tag tree? There should be a warnning before rename a parent tag.

mac (Archived) Viewing issue in fullscreen

It used to be you could easily see the tags a note had in snippet, list, or thumbnail view. You could even edit them after just one click onto the desired note. Snippet view was the best because you could see a shortened list of tags on every note without clicking anywhere. But since you only have one view option in fullscreen you can't do that anymore. I think Evernote should add all three views back into fullscreen, but give each of them an update for the interface, just like the one they have now. But most importantly I think they should show a list of the tags of every note on the thumbnail. Maybe in-between the title and content, like they are in snippet view. It would save me and hopefully many others a lot of time by not having to double click to check tags.
  23. Something like #tag:tag1 #tag:tag2 #notebook:DailyNotes sent in the 'forwarding text'. The '#' can work as a pre-processor command for evernote. . this would save me a great deal of time since I would not have to in go to Evernote to complete the posting. It would also save a lot of processing time on the Evernote servers, since I then don't have to go to evernote, open the note, tag it, move it to an appropriate notebook & then sync it.
