  1. Hi everyone, I apologise if this has already been asked and answered. I can not get the EN search for -tag:Tag1 to work in either the mac app or the web app. I am typing on a British mac air keyboard. When I type -tag:Tag1 into the search box it just seems to ignore it as it doesn't understand it. Any help would be greatly received. ~Nuttystar~
  2. If "Click to add tag" does not contain a suitable tag, there's no way to cancel the operation. For example, if I enter "p" and a suitable tag is not available, the topmost tag is added to the selected note. I then need to delete the inserted tag and use Ctrl+Alt+T An empty default slot at the top of the dropdown list would solve the problem.
  3. I have EN 5.3.1 with Win 7. I'm experimenting with "Find a tag" to search for tags (click "Tags" in left pane). Expected result: I assumed that if I typed "h" in the search box, I would see all tags beginning with "h". Maybe as a bonus, I might find the list reducing if I then type "ha", and so on. Actual results: If I type "h", the number of tags reduces by HALF. The following tags are found: hardwarehealthhistoryhouseholdhumourmany other tags which might or might not contain "h". If they contain "h", the "h" might or might not be in the initial position.Here are the results of adding further letters to "h": ha: hardware. Nothing elsehe: health. Many other tags. For example, func, Ruby, moles.hea: health. Nothing else.hi: history. Nothing else.ho: household. AuthorIT (which includes "ho", so I suppose that's OK)hou: household. Nothing else.hu: humour. Nothing else.I would be grateful for any advice, or any link.
  4. Hi, My day-to-day work involves lots of meetings. I currently use paper and pen to take notes in the meetings. What would be the best way to do this in Evernote. So far I have set -up]: - One Notebook called 'meetings' - Notes within this notebook for each type of meeting (e.g. different people/ functions) - Each note would then have two types of info; a) important notes and action items for either me or my team to work against How can I then: 1. Compile all of the 'to do' items together in one Note to save me going through each note individually (ultimnately with a note per meetign this could be 100s of notes very quickly) 2. See who is assigned to complete each of these items Thanks!
  5. Hi, I have 2 problems today 1) I cannot add a second tag on a note on the desktop app. It works on the web app, but on the desktop, when I click on the tag, it disapears. Please, look at the screen shot: there is a slash sign that should not be there. 2) the links to a website are not active and not blue. They stay black and are not clickable Dop you have any suggestions?
  6. Hello, I shared a notebook with someone but the other person cannot do an advance search (for example tag:productivity). A normal search in the shared notebook is working as expected. I just want to know If I'm the only one with this problem or is a premium feature. Thank you.
  7. Hello! It would be great if you make view all the tags to note. Now it's not comfortable, it is one like with tags and buttons. Maybe you can make buttons translucent and under them tags. Or something other. With love to evernote!
  8. The ability to forward an email directly into Evernote is great. The ability to add a notebook and tags in the subject line is even better. But there are some flies in the ointment: 1. Why should we have to remember to always put @notebook first, and then #tags second? It should work either way, in fact it should work if @notebook comes right in the middle of a string of #tags. 2. What happens if either your notebook name or your desired tags contain spaces? The obvious answer would be to "enclose them in quotes" but this doesn't seem to work. Please fix theses issues. As far as I know, there is no full and precise documentation of how this feature works, so you need that, too.

  10. At about minute 00:50 in this following video from this year, it demonstrates how to enter a Tag "in" a Tag. In both my mac app and evernote.com, I am unable to do this. Where did it go? Why was it taken away? I need to enter hundreds of tags (stock ticker symbols) as child tags of a parent tag. And to do it without this ability is a HUGE time waster -- add the tag, find it in the list, drag it up, up, up until you find the parent tag and drop it in. Then repeat. And it's something I have to do on the fly each time I have to enter a new ticker as the need arises.

The link below shows a screenshot of the Evernote App (Mac) Tags index screen: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/13/fpbp.png/ Maybe 2-3 years ago I brought this to the attention of Evernote, explaining how many of us a bit older people don't have as perfect eyes as the young developers at Evernote, and that the Tags index screen is unreadable to some of us. Now I'm back checking out Evernote again and am reminded of why I had to choose not to use it in the past, and this is one reason. I doubt it even meets website accessibility standards. I'm curious, is there anyone else out there that has extreme difficulty reading it? Please bring up the image and see for yourself. And what is the deal with developers hating on contrast these days? Do they want us all to squint or go blind? You don't see books coming out with gray text on gray pages. It's black on white or off-white. Thanks.
  12. I would like to be able to set up a saved search using multiple Tags. If I have a Tag called Denver and a Tag called Houston, how could I create a saved search that would pull up all notes that are tagged either Houston or Denver?
  13. Thank you for Evernote. A few for the wish list. 1.In my field, documents are big and long, and as I read, i feel the need to add more tags for later reference. Currently if I want to add a NEW TAG while editing, I have to interrupt my reading on the iPad (often coming out of edit mode) and go all the way up to put a new tag in which is not at all time efficient, and is dis-incentivising. Suggestion: The option to add a tag from the top bar, while reading on iPad, without having to scroll all the way back up would be very useful. This could be add tag option next to the reminder button, or within one of the buttons as a drop down. In this context, while editing, the note often jumps to the top, autoscrolling if you may, which is particularly prominent if the finger strays outwards to the white areas. 2. Secondly on ipad, when editing a document the screen is not being fully utilised and space is minimal due to the snippet window on the left, and the typing pad at the bottom. (see attached)Suggestion: Having the ability to hide the left sided bar (if in snippet view) would be great as it would provide more space to zoom into the document. 3. Is there going to be some colour choices for mark up of documents? Not critical but enhances the mark up experience! Access to the highlight tool in the context sensitive popup would be useful. Currently only the bold/italicise/underline is available in there. Thank you for considering
  14. Why do I need to tag my notes? Can't I just search for a specific word within a note and it will be (hopefully) found?
  15. Now that I've organized my life around Evernote, I'm finding that many of my tags have become too long to view easily in Evernote apps on the Mac and iOS. Yes, I could abbreviate to shorten them, but the problem is that I have categories and subcategories. Layers of subcategories have generated longer and longer tags. The quick fix would be to allow me to see longer tags. The more elegant solution would be hierarchical tags that support categories and subcategories directly. This approach would also support more precise searching.
  16. Is it possible to use the any: modifier on notebooks/stacks? I am able to get it working on most types of data but it doesn't seem to care for notebooks/stacks. I need to be able to query across multiple stacks or notebooks if I have to. An example is: any:notebook:Development notebook:HelpdeskThis is on both Windows 5.0.2 and web version. I've also noticed the web version simply doesn't like the "any:" modifier being typed in. I can see you can manually click and add the "any:" filter on the web version (which works) but I prefer to type than click. Can someone let me know if: I'm doing something wrong These are intentional These are bugsThanks.
  17. Hello. I had gone and nicely setup a shared notebook where users who I don't want direct write access to the business notebooks can add notes. Each note is tagged with either !Review or !WIP (Work in progress). Any tagged with !Review are checked and then moved to the business notebook for the company to see. However, the users i've added can see the tags !Review and !WIP as options to add to the note. When they select one, it just disappears straight away. They are on version 5.0.2 and running the windows desktop version. This does however work on the web version. Is there any way I can get updates on bug progress or to see if it's been raised in the first place as this is a fairly important problem for us. If anyone has another alternative solution, it'd be greatly appreciated (multiple notebooks for Review and WIP instead of tags?). Thanks.
  18. Hi All, New here, so hello! I've been an EN (Premium) user since Jan 2013 (Latecomer, I know) and it's revolutionised the way I do things. As a consequence, others in my life are now having to work around me and EN! I share a couple of notebooks (one full of general, 'normal' typed notes and the other full of a mix of emails/notes/.pdf/scans/etc) with a colleague of mine and I can't for the life of me work out why she can only see my tags list (and/or use them) in one of the notebooks and not the other. The permissions on the two notebooks are identical, both were created by me (Premium) and shared to her (free user), yet she can only use my tags list in one. I must be missing something, as the former one works perfectly, and exactly how we would like it to (i.e. she can only use my tags, not add new ones of her own, meaning she has to use my brain map/logic when tagging my notes, so to speak). Any help greatly appreciated as this is driving me round the bend! L
  19. Today I migrated/updated the newer Version 5.x (over 4.x). Now I miss the most liked tag UI from Version 4: the v5 seems to have only the ugly separate window UI (Ctrl-Alt-K; btw.: what a "easy" to remember hot key???) There also seems to be Problems with that Dialog itself as I've read here in the forum. For me this is really a Regression compared to the older versions. It was sooooo easy to create new tags with the autocompletion etc. ... OK, I cannot "select" existing tags, but why do you don't Combine the two UI's? The new Dialog as a addition to the tagging tool(bar) would be fine, but don't throw the other good Option! I really liked the v4 tagging UI - can I get it back somehow? Why is there only the separate Dialog now?
  20. Hello, it would be great if you could add a visible priority colour mark to each note (green, yellow, orange, red....) so that whilst scrolling a long list of notes you can immediately see what note is more urgent.....etc.
  21. Hi! In many programs today if you choose to filter by a tag, that filtering is permanent no mather what you do in the program until you uncheck it. For instance, I tag all of my notes (and would like to tag notebooks too) with the areas of responsibility of the GTD method. So when I'm putting my health "hat" on, I can browse through all my projects, next actions and reference material and filter them with my "health" tag. Am I missing a function where this is possible? For what I understand if you can not select a tag (through search or other options) and then change notebook and still have that tag filtering the selected notebook? /Friendly regards, Henrik
  22. I want to create some tags that will ONLY show in the all tags area when a NOTEBOOK is click In other words, I will be able see the tag only if I see the notebook The other thing is whether I can hide the notes from a notebook in the ALL note selection? Thanks
  23. Hi, I've been out of town for a week and needed to access Evernote on the internet. WHERE do I find help? Specifically I wanted to know how to apply tags, but I would like to know how to look up how to do things from a web connection (which doesn't have my En bookmarks). Thanks in advance
  24. For example... I tag a note "waiting $" as it is a receivable. I receive $, erase the tag and add a new one "closed". But when I do a search for "waiting $", the note still comes up even though the tag is no longer there. (note -this is a shared notebook) Any ideas? It's very frustrating as I set up this system so I can easily see exactly how many files I'm waiting for payment on. Thanks! Jeff
  25. I have a Note called tv and it contains lots of links, info and .PDF files I have collected about different tvs that I may want to buy. The word TV ends up being highlighted in yellow in my tv note when I do a search for tv, however, the note ends up being the 17th note returned in my search results, and some of the notes above it do not even seem to have the word tv in it? I even added a tag of tv to the note and that still does not change anything. Any suggestions? Thanks.
