  1. Much to my surprise, I recently became a paying Evernote user. When I first encountered the software, I didn't really understand the appeal. With the recent integration between Evernote and Skitch, the program has become an integral part of my workflow. I am a serious fan. However, there is one thing that drives me crazy: the automatically reformatting tables. I'm a college professor, and I regularly use tables to organize and categorize my thoughts in progress. Evernote makes it far too difficult to do this. The problem is not the lack of fancy formatting options. I'm perfectly capable of exporting a table from Evernote into a word processor if I want to apply a design layer. The problem is the way the column widths continually resize as I enter data. It makes it very difficult to use this as an efficient tool for organizing my thoughts because the data keeps shifting. It is a serious usability issue. As a former web developer, I fully understand how difficult it can be to implement fully functional and usable tables in a platform-independent way. However, I wonder if there might be an easy way that we could at least hardwire the widths of the table columns -- whether in percentages or pixels -- so that the text would stop shifting. I guess this is the part of the message where I'm supposed to threaten to cancel my Evernote subscription if the tables aren't fixed. Truth is -- much to my surprise -- I'm hooked. Still, it would make life soooo much easier if the developers could fix this one little thing. Thanks! Aaron
  2. Would be great to be able to move complete tables to different location on the page. See attached for example. Be able to move table C to appear just below table A or place it alongside table A.
  3. I've noticed that I can't put a code block or table under a bullet points. Is this intentional or is it some kind of bug? I'm running Evernote under Windows 10.
  4. I updated Evernote this morning. Then I went to format a table -- specifically, to change its line color. I right-clicked to go to "Table properties"...and that option was no longer there . I'm *hoping* that this means it has been moved somewhere (as opposed to an "update" having removed features), but I'm damned if I can find it. Does anybody know where to look? Thank you.
  5. The new tables and layouts in Evernote are great, but I have been using tables in my notes for a long time and one of the greatest features I thought Evernote had was that the table (more specifically the column width) would dynamically change to the width of the device I was using. This made it so much simpler to add content, change things while on the go on my phone and then re-adjust and gauge everything as I switched between devices. The new column and table features are really great, but if we could have the dynamic column widths back it would be much appreciated!
  6. NOTE: I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. I upgraded to v. 6.12.2 since I downloaded/bought Evernote in the Apple App store. I have a note with a table made of several rows and three columns (across). But when I print it out on a letter size (8.5x11) sheet of paper, it only prints TWO COLUMS. I have not tried printing in landscape, only portrait. And the groupings of tables will not "fit together" like I had them previously. Thank you for any assistance given.
  7. Would be great (more efficient) if there were a keyboard shortcut that provided the ability to insert rows and columns within tables. (And maybe even a shortcut to insert a basic table, 2x2?) Thanks for listening to this suggestion. John
  8. Starting with v6.12, the redesigned table controls are constantly in the way, leave a ridiculous amount of white space around every table, and are way, way too easy to accidentally activate. For users who don't want to change the layout of their tables frequently, and in fact, just want to make a table once and leave it alone, please make this feature an option that can be turned off in the Formatting preferences. I have one template that I duplicate every day for a diary. It includes some tables. I will never change the layout of these tables, so having these tools pop up all the time really gets in the way of my work flow. Plus, before this feature was added, everything on my template fit "above the fold" (i.e., could be seen without scrolling). Now, thanks to all the extra white space around every table, that's no longer true. I can understand how many users might find this feature useful. The problem is, this update ignores everyone else.
  9. The tables in Evernote are very powerful. However, some of the features available in the Mac and Windows versions are missing in the web version. And MOST of those features are missing in the android version. This is really frustrating. It's not helpful when I have to go to my desktop computer simply because I can't add a column or row to a table on my tablet. This takes away from the usefulness of the tables. All the features should be available on all platforms. Google Sheets on the Android app, so it is possible
  10. Is there any way to select separate columns or individual boxes in tables and make them different colours? I am using the tables for the first time and am making a weekly schedule and I find it helps me to organise and plan when I can colour code certain things - and I don't want to just colour code the text.
  11. I would like to create tables in the iOS. I use iPad as the main device. And copy-paste tables is not comfortable. Also, it is not possible to easily edit these tables in the iOS.
  12. Just started using Evernote, very happy so far but surprised there is no sort feature? Also pleasantly surprised at the "to-do" right-click menu feature: check all, uncheck all. Suggest adding a sort option -- check-first, uncheck first, and alpha. Overall basic sort feature within notes and, in an ideal world, a more powerful one within tables, would be great.
  13. I am attaching two page - long time ago I created merge cells using Pages on my Mac and then I created 2000+ notes. It worked great for few years but recently when I check the tables were broken cross about 7000 notes. This is really frustrating. I am attaching two screenshots, it looks correct on web interface but local app on Mac shows broken. I updated Mac to latest OS but that did not help either. This is really frustrating and Evernote has standard answer that they will pass the info to their developers and can not give how long its gonna take it. ON My MAC On the Web Interface - at www.evernote.com
  14. I am running El Capitan on Macbook Pro Version 10.11.6 (15G1510) - any help would be greatly appreciated.
  15. This is not exactly an idea but kind of missing feature. Steps to reproduce. 1. Create a table with 2 columns in a note. 2. Zoom the note (say around 2X) 3. Try adjusting the column size of either column. I am not able to adjust the size. I am using latest evernote version on Mac.
  16. I have created a table which comes down right to the bottom of the note. But I still need to add more text to the chapter except that I cannot add a line below the table. I took a screen shot. If someone can help, please. Thanks in advance.
  17. I would very much like table formatting controls in Windows the same as Mac. The ability to change position and boarder color needs to be cross-platform. Thanks
  18. Hi! I was working on my notes an entire week giving it format: some tables, colors, bold typography, nothing unusual. In the App of my Mac all was looking good until I checked the iOS App and the "Web App"; that nice format has gone, in the iOS my notes looks very different, the Web App is an entire mess, all is completely unorganized. The worst came when I update anything, the minimal thing that I modify in iOS or Web App just ruined all my notes in the Mac App too. This is exactly what I wasn't looking in a notes App, can someone tell me how to fix this?, and taking advantage please recommend me a true Note Taking App. Thank you very much!
  19. When I spend a lot of time making a matrix or table of so many rows and columns of fixed widths to make copies of, to then fill in the blank cells, the "Fixed Content" formatted cells should be able to be locked so that when I reopen them on the Desktop version (Mac OS) or the Smartphone version (iOS) they all are identical (isn't that the whole idea bending cross platform support??) and the formatting that I have painstakingly created is not only retained, but also locked and unable to be changed, and only the blank cells can have text entered into them. Perhaps Im expecting a Note taking app to act like a input accepting forms application or database input form, but whats the point of being able to create Tables when they end up all screwed up every time you open them? I've been told to make them shared notes, but I am not sharing anything with anybody, I am the sole user. If that will fix the problem great, but what a kludge solution begging for a better solution. I've been told to use Excel or Word to create the Tables. So why have a Table making function if it doesnt work, effectively making a a beta tester of the Table functionality?
  20. I am a heavy Google Apps user and I find the Table, and its function on Evernote a bit disturbing. Please optimize the Table, and its function with Evernote.
  21. I'd like to report some more weird behavior regarding from tables on my Windows 10 desktop. After any change to the number of rows or columns through right-clicking and selecting "insert/delete above/below..." the undo button simply does not work. Instead of undoing the change to the number of rows or columns, Evernote just moves the cursor to a different cell. Very weird. What's going on? Also, regarding the browser version of Evernote tables, there does not seem to be an option for deleting or adding rows or columns or resizing them. Pressing the tab key when the cursor's in the bottom right cell, though, does create a new row. Am I missing something? EDIT: Two more issues. First, Copy/Cut/Paste problems. If I select and cut or copy two cells worth of content, they cannot paste anywhere inside the table. Instead, pasting just seems to move the cursor one space to the right... like the space bar. I do seem able to copy/paste the contents of those two cells into a new, separate table, though. After attempting to paste, not much happens... and I can't undo it. CTRL+Z just does not work. Totally broken. Second, why is it not possible to select the contents of a single column? Lastly: Would it be easier if I just made a video to show all the weirdness?
  22. When will we ever get proper tables in Evernote? This should be core functionality which would dramatically improve the user experience with the product! Specific issues I'm fighting with include: - Unable to insert rows to a table created. Note: This is hit or miss at times. Usually works on mac more consistently- Unable to resize table columns on demand- Unable to color table rows/columns My Environment:Windows 5.8.8.7837 (275837) - PrimaryOS X 6.013 (451658 App Store) - Alternate Workarounds involving jumping between environments should not be acceptable as a workaround. No one wants to or should have to leave their primary environment, go to an alternate environment, i.e. Web, etc. and then back to their primary environment to simply update a table. Trust me, I love Evernote and really enjoy working with it despite some core limitation, but seriously, this has type of functionality is far to long coming.
  23. Would be great to have have some extra functionality regarding the tables in the editor. Currently, there's not much you can do with it... I know there's a workaround, by using http://enml-editor.ping13.net/# , however it's cumbersome and I have to give access to that site to read through ALL my notes, which I'd rather avoid doing... The most important for me, would be to change the background colour of a cell... An old topic (which wasn't ported to this feature request subforum):
  24. It would be helpful if I can insert a table within a table. I am a student and Evernote has made note taking so much more organized. Evernote used to have this feature, however it has been disabled in updated versions of the program. If I can insert a table within another table, it will make my notes much more organized and easier to view.
  25. Hi there, Using the web-based Evernote application, I created a table in a new note. How do I edit the structure of this table ? Aka, how do I add/remove a line or a column ? Thanks for your help. Phil
