  1. I just installed Evernote on a MacBook Pro that has never had Evernote on it. The application installation went fine, but it will not sync at all. Nothing. There is a red exclamation point on the sync icon. The activity log keeps coming up with this every time it tries to sync: FindNotesToDownloadUsingBackgroundTransfers:] | Starting all operations 2017/08/31 21:56:23:097 I|* 40275 -[ENCacheManager fetchNextBatchOfDownloadOperationsUsingBackgroundTransfers:]_block_invoke | Processing 0 notes 2017/08/31 21:56:23:614 I|* 40555 -[ENCacheManager stop] | self=<ENCacheManager: 0x7fc31be51b70> Any ideas? I've tried all kinds of web searches but haven't been able to find a problem where it won't even sync at all from the very beginning.
  2. Greetings, I'm somewhat new to Evernote, however, I must say i'm really digging it so far. I do have a couple questions I'm hoping some of you more experienced EverNoteors may be able help me out with. Sorry in advance if these questions seem a bit basic, but like I said I'm somewhat new: Is there a way to automatically Sync my desktop evernote to the online version after a certain amount of time? Or do I have to always click the Sync button or close out the app? The reason is if I'm working on my desktop and do not click Sync and forget to close out I cannot get my new notes on my smart phone until I do. I have a bad habit of walking away from my desk and then looking for something on my phone to find it's not there yet. I'm I better off just using the online version of Evernote or the Desktop version? I find switching back and forth a little bit confusing. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it, but right not I mostly just use the online version. What is the major advantage in using the Desktop version vs. the online version? I mean I understand it's safer to back up my stuff to my desktop and the cloud but are there other advantages I'm missing? Thanks in advance for the help and again, sorry if I come across as a complete tool.
  3. So I recently updated the sync on my evernote for my PC (Windows 7) and it appeared to work. I merged them altogether, exported them to an html file and the images straight to their own folder as well (rather than manually saving them from the html file) and then I deleted them off my phone (HTC One S). However, now it looks like I might have been over-zealous in doing so because after I deleted them off my phone I then proceeded to junk them in to the trash in my evernote PC, but as I was doing so another note appeared ALSO in the trash, which appeared to be more of the notes that were syncing. It was a little complicated, because the notes also seemed to have SOME notes that were already synced from the other notes I had merged together. So I exported those to an html and image folder as well and deleted them from my evernote on PC because they had all been copied and were definitely not updating anymore. So, uh, I'm not sure exactly what happened? I had months upon months of notes since my last export (yeah, dumb) so it's difficult to know if I'm missing anything and the text from the html files I did get, once I removed the duplicated notes and combined them in a text folder, was 827kb large. So I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid or not.. I did attempt to look at some residual widget images on my phone after the fact and I think one might have been an image that wasn't synced (I had about 15mb of images that were retrieved from the exporting) unless it was an image I deleted and forgot that I did so, but I am kind of doubting that. So, I am really not sure how the sync works. Some questions (hoping at least some of them can be answered): -Can evernote partially sync rather than fully? -If evernote can sync only partially does it write over the last sync entirely or does it just write over whatever notes it's updating and if the sync is disrupted it doesn't remove the last save from the prior sync? Also, is it possible to need to sync it multiple times to get a complete sync? -How long does it take to for the sync to work, and does the text get recorded before the images because of how small the size is, or how does that work? ...To make things more needlessly, stupidly convoluted I also synced another, older phone (also an HTC One S) afterwards with completely different notes on it. That all seemed to work fine.. however I think it synced 73 notes and when I deleted them off my phone I think it said I deleted 75? But I KNOW I gave it a lot of time to sync so I'm not exactly sure what happened there? It's my own fault, but it's incredibly frustrating because these are my personal creative notes and cannot be replaced (I'll definitely take more care in the future), and I'm not even sure what or if I'm missing notes. At least I appear to have MOST of them if not all? Incidentally I always try to somewhat thoroughly delete things, but this time it didn't really work to my advantage at all. Unsure if there is a way to retrieve lost notes or check history to at least show me how many notes I had as of when or some such thing? Any help for some peace of mind would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Even with syncing religiously EN can create conflicting modifications. Please consider allowing the ability to see specifically what text is in conflict by changing its color. Thanks
  5. I can't sync any notes for offline use because it says that a note 'insiders guide to HubSpot...' Is invalid but I can't even find that not to delete it. I'm paying premium fees to be able to use this offline and now can't. Ive tried various things and nothing seems to fix this. I also cannot submit a support ticket and activity log due to the same error notice,
  6. My iPad , iPhone & PC sync perfectly but not my Mac............I have even uninstalled and installed it again and still no joy!
  7. Hi @ All, I use Evernote Web and the client software for Android on my phone. Everything worked like a charm, no issues for month. To make my notes also available on my PC (Win 7 Home), I installed Evernote for Windows. I entered my credentials und the first sync started. But instead of showing me all my notes, it asked me to create my FIRST note. I was surprised and synced manually again with the same result. Then I switched back to the web interface and saw that everything was deleted. So it seams it sync went in the wrong direction. I disconnected my phone from internet access immediately. Fortunately my notes are still on the phone. I am not sure if I can sync these notes back to the server. I think the server will tell my phone that it (the server) has the most recent version of my notes and the notes on my phone will be deleted too. How can I get back my notes? Could somebody provide some help or has some advices? Thanks in advance! p.s.: I have only a basic account.
  8. I just let several PCs upgrade to Windows client version 6.5.4.4720 (304720) Public. I'm not sure which version was installed previously, but it was only a month or three old. Now I find that Evernote autosyncs on startup. I don't want this behavior and don't see a way to turn it off. In Tools > Options > Synchronization, all the checkboxes are unchecked except for 'Synchronize shortcuts'. Before this version upgrade, syncing never occurred unless manually initiated by me, which is the behavior I want. Are others experiencing this issue? Has a way to fix this been found?
  9. I had been running an older version of EN. 4-something. I upgraded to the latest release and now sync is not functioning.
  10. A couple of times now I've witness disturbing behaviour during syncing on my iPad. While taking notes during a class (switching between two languages so data input was tortuous) I saved two or three times over the course of an hour. At the conclusion of the class I synced a final time, then saw 90% of my note disappear! I thought it was maybe taking time to refresh, but no, it was gone, irredeemably so. I checked on my laptop when I got home just in case, but the note was the same as on my iPad (ie. mostly deleted). I'm a premium member so I hoped the "note history" feature would come to my rescue, but that's only updated several times a day. This morning I started the app on my iPad again and noted that it was syncing a note I had open. The thumbnail actually showed more content in this note than the body did, until it finished syncing of course when the thumbnail updated to show that most of the note had been deleted. As well as it works 95% of the time, I'm considering moving back to paper as I can't risk this sort of data loss. Obviously help with preventing this in future is the #1 priority, but in addition to this it'd be really useful if the note history feature followed more along Apple's Time Machine model, eg. every sync over the last hour is saved, every hour for the last day, every day for the last week etc. So: help! Another minor irritant was that I would selectively highlight the second of two words on a line, copy, but then when I pasted both the first and second words were somehow pasted. This happened repeatedly... but then I lost the whole thing anyway, so you know, whatever. :|
  11. I edited some content on one mac at 15, May, but I typed a space on another mac at night without synchronization probably. Then the next day I found the content I edited yesterday was missing, the note has been replaced by the previous version on the other mac, without any conflicting instructions.
  12. I have installed latest version of Evernote on my 2 devices 1-Galaxy Note 4 2-Galaxy Tab A 10.1 In Galaxy Note 4, at S-Notes settings there is option "Sync With Evernote" and it is working perfect. BUT In Galaxy Tab A 10.1, at Samsung Notes settings There is NO Option like "Sync With Evernote" . There is only option to enable or disable Sync withjSamsung Cloud, that's all ! Tried to uninstall, reinstall...restart etc...but always same. WHY? How can I sync Galaxy Tab A 10.1 with Evernote ?? Is it not available for this device?
  13. Hello, I'm a premium subscriber. I absolutely need my notes when offline. On my iPad Mini 2 Retina, late 2013 (iOS 9.3.4) I had always checked in Evernote (latest version because I auto-update) in preferences "Download All Notes" but today for the first time I'm presented with a warning that says "No Internet connection - Download this notebook to access it the next time you're offline" (shown together with a slider button and an airplane icon on top). I would like to mention that I have often used Evernote without an Internet connection, successfully viewing any of my notes! This error is completely new to me. I have tried to change the global settings to "Download Selected Notebooks" and there I have selected *each* of my notebooks but the problem remains. It appears that I have to view a note when online and only there after that note is offline available as well. This is a new behavior! I'm using Evernote for several years successfully on iOS, syncing with the cloud. It can't be that I have to dig through each notebook and view it when online, just to make sure that I have it also when offline. I have professional notes on Evernote that I need to be able to access for my job when in the basement of buildings – it is crucial for my work. I just paid my annual fee and I'm willing to pay more next year due to Evernote's new subscription model. Am I the only one with this issue – is this a new problem? Thanks, Martin
  14. Very frustrating problem - my notes for my account refuse to sync across from desktop app and web, to my phone (OnePlus 3T). I had this problem with my old phone too and cannot for the life of me remember how I resolved it. I'm definitely signing in using the same account. All three are definitely synced up-to-date as far as they tell me. They are also the latest updates of the respective programs. I have tried uninstalling the phone app and reinstalling but doesn't work. Oddly it shows 2 notes which I made at some point, which have synced across at some point as they are identical to the versions on the web/desktop versions. What on earth do I do with this? Thanks in advance, Katherine
  15. I've been using Penultimate for a while and found it annoying that I had to go back out to the notebook level in order to get my Penultimate note to sync. Now it no longer does even that. The little green triangle just stays in the upper right corner of the note icon and the note does not update in Evernote. The green triangle used to go away after a minute and I'd see the updated note in Evernote. I can get it to sync manually by going out to the list of notebooks and clicking the gear icon ⚙. This brings out the basic settings where there is a sync icon ⟳ next to the last sync time. Clicking on this icon ⟳ forces it to sync. How can I get it to sync automatically again? I'm concerned that I'll forget to manually sync it and my notes won't be up to date. "Sync on WiFi only" is turned off. "Pause Syncing" is turned off.
  16. If the reason for this not happening is that the content would up taking up too much space, I imagine there could be some sort of automatic file comparison so that large image files etc. would not be duplicated every time the synced version is stored.
  17. Hi, I started using EN on desktop for the first time yesterday, and I couldn't sync the notes created on my iPhone on the same day. All previous notes were properly synced and accessible on desktop except for the ones created yesterday. Ended up deleting and reinstalling EN on phone, and now I couldn't even sign in to my EN account. The error message kept popping up asking me to verify my internet connection even though I am online. Please help!
  18. It is still a bit frustrating that the Evernote application itself must be open in order to perform synchronization. This should be a function that the Evernote Helper application can perform in the background, as we should not need to have the Evernote application open at all times.
  19. It seems Evernote tries to sync all the notes? Is it possible to have it only sync the index? Or maybe a selective sync? (hint: think Dropbox). Maybe only sync the title and snippet instead of the whole note? This helps saves space for notes that are rarely access on other machines. Very helpful for laptops with limited SSD space. Personally, I save large documents that I use only from my desktop and I don't want them taking up space for nothing on my laptop.
  20. Hi Evernote, I made a lot of changes in iOS Evernote and the original Mac Evernote file overwrote all my work. That was enough wasted time to drop my faith in Evernote. Syncing should recognize the most recently updated note first. I am working with poor WiFi bandwidth. Would that be a factor? Both Evernote apps are up to date. I Evernote and have had few issues over the years so this is disturbing. Can I recover the prior note version? Looking is Trash isn’t the solution. Thanks, Grant
  21. Make "Files" or "Drive" a list, and a first class citizen, in the Left Panel/Sidebar and have it behave the same as other lists "Notebooks", "Tags" and "Trash". The "Drive" list will hold my files (PDF, video, images or whatever is a file). Files are not notes. The benefit to me is I can easily visualize my files I want uploaded/downloaded and/or synced without having to open notes to get to the file. I can easily move groups of files and I am used to file managers. This could be done as an inversion of Evernote's "note has files" to the new view "file has notes". The Evernote "note" becomes the metadata of the file. Both views "Notebooks" and "Files" can exist side-by-side as different lists over the same data in the same database. To mange files, I either drag'n'drop files into the files list or use Evernote's "Import Folders ..." function. I just want a list of my files and this reduces the friction between embedded files in notes and a list of files.
  22. My EverNote data cache is getting to be large. Hence the spinning-arrow cursor does its thing until all is synced. What's missing is the option to have a percent (%) feature (akin to MacBookPro's battery indicator with the option of % available).
  23. I am new to Evernote and do not understand it very well yet. I have an application that I want to know if any version of Evernote can solve. I have hundreds of test reports created as PDF files, and these exist in a nested tree of folders at a specific folder on my local hard drive. What I want to have happen is for Evernote to *automatically* sync with that folder, so that any time I add a new file or folder to the local folders on my file system, this automatically uploads and is indexed into the Evernote notebook. The idea here is for Evernote to be able to create a full-text index for these files so that multiple people can search easily on any specific word found in any of those PDF files. It would be extremely time consuming and cumbersome if I had to manually sync the local folder and the Evernote notebook. So finding a way to have things just synchronize in the background and automatically is important. It is also important that changes made to the Evernote notebook do not affect the master files. If someone accidentally deleted files in the notebook, those actions should not result in deleting files on my file system. How close can Evernote get to this functionality, and which versions of the product do I need for that?
  24. Sorry if this has been asked or is obvious but I couldn't find the answer. How to sync, or if that is not possible, upload entire folders to Evernote? Evernote Web, Linux Mint 18.1 OS, Cinnamon 3.2.7 DE Thank you.
  25. Is there a way I can designate a folder on my Windows desktop where whatever is in that folder, it will be automatically synced to Evernote? Yep, I have the app installed on my Windows Desktop.
