  1. BUG Report: EN Mac 7.10 -- Excessive CPU% & Slowdown After Moving Notes to Another Notebook After I moved ~4,500 notes to a different Notebook (NB #2), Evernote 7.10 usability went to about ZERO! CPU usage went to 100%+ for > 1 hour It was syncing continuously, but ONLY uploading -- It did NOT download any of the new Notes I had created via Chrome Web Clipper AFTER the move notes When I would change the selected NB to the NB #2 (or any other NB), after 30 sec the note list still had not updated so show the notes in it. All I did is to change the NB -- this should be a very fast and simple database update! I am running a brand new 2019 iMac with 512 SSD, 40GB RAM, 3.6GHz i9 (8 cores) processor!!! I will submit a formal bug report shortly via the Evernote Support web site. Screenshot:
  2. Hi there, If you’re experiencing syncing issues with Evernote for iOS, please see the following steps you can take to try and troubleshoot the issue, and hopefully fix it yourself: Check Evernote's status blog- Each week, the Evernote servers are updated with new versions of the various software components that power the service. During this time, the service can be slow or even intermittently unavailable. Check status.evernote.com to ensure that there isn't a server-side problem causing your sync error. Evernote Basic - If you have Evernote Basic, verify that you don't have more than two devices associated with your account in your account settings. Make sure you’re on the most current version of Evernote for iOS. If you are not, please update (DO NOT reinstall) to the current version via the App Store and retry syncing. Check your Evernote 'Trash' for any notes/items that you wish to keep. If there aren’t any notes you would like to keep, empty your Evernote Trash and retry syncing. (The Evernote ‘Trash’ is the very last item listed on the bottom of the left-hand side bar) Try updating, and/or temporarily disabling, any security software or VPN that could cause internet connectivity issues and see if sync then works If this doesn’t work, see if there are any specific notes that are causing the syncing issue: With Evernote open, pull down on the screen to force a sync. It will fail, but this will put fresh data in the activity log. Tap on the user settings icon on the bottom right hand corner Tap on Support > ActivityLog > Mail Send the activity log to an email address you own Open the log file using an app like MS Word, Notepad, or Apple Notes and do a word search for Error, Failed, and/or Exception If you see the titles of one of your notes listed next to Error, Failed, and/or Exception, try copying the content of that note to a different location like, and then delete that note and empty it from the trash. (Repeat this process each note title you see) Retry syncing If you’re still experiencing sync issues, execute the following steps to rebuild the database on your iOS device by reinstalling it. DISCLAIMER: (Be sure to execute the following steps exactly as they are listed. Improperly following the reinstall steps may cause irreparable damage and the loss of some of your notes/notebooks. If you do not feel comfortable proceeding with reinstalling Evernote on your iOS Device, or need more assistance, stop here and open a support ticket or reach out to Shane D. via DM.) To reinstall Evernote for iOS follow these steps: Before reinstalling Evernote for iOS, make sure to copy the contents of any unsynced notes somewhere outside of the Evernote app. Any unsynced notes (notes marked by green corners) and photos are deleted when you reinstall Evernote. To save any unsynced photos, open the photo, tap the Share button (box with upward arrow) and select Save Image. 1. From the home screen, tap and hold the Evernote icon until it starts to jiggle 2. Tap X, then Delete 3. Restart your iOS device 4. Download Evernote from the App Store Hopefully, these steps helped you to fix any syncing issues you’ve been encountering. However, If none of these suggestions help, please see these best practices for opening a support ticket, and then contact us. If you'd like to open a ticket immediately, it's helpful to include the following in your ticket submission: A copy of your activity log A description of what is happening What version of Evernote you are using Which device your notes are not showing up on A list of all the steps you took before you contacted Evernote Support

(The Evernote ‘Trash’ is the very last item listed on the bottom of the left-hand side bar) If this doesn’t work, see if there are any specific notes that are causing the syncing issue: Click the sync button. From the Activity Log, search for the words 'error’ and ‘exception' If you see the titles of one of your notes listed next to ‘error’ or ‘exception’, try copying the content of that note to a different location like Apple Notes, and then delete that note and empty it from the trash. (Repeat this process for each note title you see) Retry syncing If you’re still experiencing sync issues, execute the following steps to rebuild your Evernote for Mac local database: (DISCLAIMER: Be sure to execute the following steps exactly as they are listed. Improperly executing database rebuild steps may cause irreparable damage to your local Evernote database. Please know that if you have a very large local database it may take awhile (upwards of over an hour) to rebuild your local database. Remember, local notebooks are stored locally within your local database only. Make sure that you properly export and backup any notes from from your local notebooks as this database rebuild will delete any local notebooks. If you do not feel comfortable proceeding with rebuilding your database, or need more assistance, stop here and open a support ticket or reach out to Shane D. via DM.) **Export unsynced notes and/or local notebooks (if you have any):** 1. Select all unsynced notes, or each local notebook, then right-click and select Export Notes… 2. Choose 'Evernote XML Format (.enex)' next to Format, then save the file to your desktop * Detailed instructions here: (https://help.evernote.com/hc/articles/209005557) **Move your existing Evernote database:** 1. Open Evernote for Mac 2. Press and hold the Option key on your keyboard, then select Help> Troubleshooting> Open Database Folder (keep this folder open) 3. Select Evernote> Quit Evernote from the menu bar 4. Move the numbered folder from the database folder to your computer's desktop (If you have more than one numbered folder, move each one) 5. Open Evernote and log in to your Evernote account Evernote will download all of your synced notes from the servers and create a new database on your computer. You can then import any exported notes by selecting File> Import Notes from the menu bar. Hopefully, these steps helped you to fix any syncing issues you’ve been encountering.
  4. I keep being asked for my password to synchronize in Windows 7, but after inputting my password get asked to repeat the process ad-infinitum!
  5. Evernote for windows won't sync for the last 2 weeks. I've tried everything I could find to solve the issue but nothing helped. Updated to the latest version if it makes a difference. I'm using Windows 7 and I keep getting the exclamation mark on "sync". Never happened before. Any ideas on how to solve this? I tried logging in and out on all of my devices, uninstalling and reinstalling etc. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks for taking your time to read this.
  6. I have the red exclamation mark on my Sync button. I don't have a "Conflicting Changes" notebook, but I have pinpointed at least one note that isn't in sync. The log has an "unexpected problem server-side" error repeatedly. I see this message in my logs going back for a month or so, but I don't see any details that would help me understand what the issue is. I'll attach the log (had to truncate it due to size). I'm subscribed, but I did not see a way to contact support. Thanks. AppLog_2018-07-16_a.zip
  7. Sometimes my web client creates 1 or 2 copies of the same note, which are not up to date. There seems to be a bug with the synchronization. Anyone experience something similar?
  8. Sorry - please ignore this question. I found the answer right after I wrote the question. I'm a new user but I've read that the only way to avoid syncing selected notes or notebooks is to set up a local notebook. But I can't find information on how to set up a local notebook. I'll be putting some notes in my pc that I do not want to show up on my iphone. Can someone tell me how to do that? Thanks.
  9. Any suggestions for dealing with Note Conflicts? I will mess up and forget to close a document on one tablet and then open it in another thus creating a Note Conflict with a link to view original document. Would that be the document saved on Tablet A or Tablet B? I get confused just thinking about it... Is there a help topic on this or any suggestions from the users here? Thanks! Steve
  10. I'm using Freedom on OSX 10.9.5 to block the internet. I've managed to whitelist a few websites, including evernote.com, but I can't get Evernote Mac to continue syncing. What domains/hosts does Evernote Mac use to sync (that I might whitelist)?
  11. Dear Forum Please help! I'm having issues syncing notes created in a notebook which was shared with me. I've tried: Ensuring that Evernote is up to date and that there are no more than 2 devices associated with my account Logging out and back in Uninstalling and reinstalling Evernote Rebooting my phone Had the notebook creator remove my sharing access and re-share it Checking the status of the Evernote servers None of these steps have resolved the issue. Whenever I try to sync I get the message "Network error. Please try again later." All other notes in my account are syncing without issue. Any suggestions?
  12. Evernote is no longer syncing and what's even weirder is that I'm logged into Evernote and it's asking me to enter my password to sync across devices or click cancel not to sync, but even when I enter password it still doesn't sync. Instead it shows a red exclamation mark on top of the sync button. It seems like it wants me to upgrade to truly sync. Otherwise, why would it ask for my password when I'm already logged in and give me two options like I have a choice when it still defaults to no sync either way. Goodbye Evernote
  13. I have had a lot of trouble reinstating my Evernote programs (Evernote, Clipper, StickyNotes) after they were obliterated by a long-lasting PC problem, but I may have resolved all the issues except for the StickyNotes failing to sync to the Windows 10 PC. They are syncing OK from my Android Tablet. Can someone give advice please? Evernote_6.11.2.7027_20180506.log
  14. I access Evernote on the web, and accidentally deleted some content from a note, but did not 'save' this change, yet I am unable to retrieve this content. There does not appear to be a 'save' button on Evernote. Can someone please explain? Thanks.
  15. I started using Evernote in 2012 and I've been always very happy ever since. After the introduction of the max 2 devices brilliant idea, the use of evernote became utterly tedious, specially because even if using it in 2 devices i am still asked to logout and log in... infinitely annoying. Today I moved completely to One Note and super happy about it. this evernote policy is a complete failure.
  16. Hi Evernote, I would love if the next update had an option to sync my notes manually because when my internet is slow, it makes typing take so long, and it's frustrating. The colorful little circle shows up on the screen to tell me it wait/it's loading, and this happens constantly--every few words. Please update Evernote for Mac to have a manually sync option! Thank you.
  17. Hey friends, I'm a long-time Evernote user and web developer. I'm considering building my own web application, tailored to me, for organizing and tracking my learning progress and resources and I'm wondering if there is a way to connect my custom web application to my Evernote account and thus be able to programmatically update notes in my Evernote through an automated process. I'm guessing that I might be able to do this through the Evernote API. Does this sound like a reasonable goal? Does evernote allow syncing this way? Thanks, Aaron
  18. I have Evernote free, and just downloaded the newest version. Now when I use the Web Clipper, nothing shows up in my Notebooks. I've waited about 10 minutes, synced again, but the web page doesn't show up. It worked fine before the update! Good thing I bookmarked those 2 pages first.
  19. As you can see from he image above, I do not have a google drive triangle icon readily available on my account for whatever reason. I am not using a premium account but it says the sync is available to all accounts. I am using evernote online. If anyone knows how to get this going please advise. Greatly appreciated. As a bonus, if anyone uses evernote with google drive, I would love to know the best way you do this. My ideal situation would be having 'workflow' google page workpapers that list out various goals, and have that sync to evernote so that I can more easily track them and note when completed etc. Kindly, B Amechi
  20. I have been a Basic plan user for 7 years and in January Evernote sent an email offer for a Premium Plan that I had been considering. I decided to sign up for the year. By February I knew I wasn’t receiving the Premium benefits so I tried to research. I discovered the email the offer was sent to was a different email then I use for my Evernote, so it was assigned to a new account basically. I tried to import it, I ended up loosing all my files, so I had to reverse and go back to basic. I reached out to Evernote and i got an automated message back that I sent it to a place that won’t respond. So I sent it to another email for Support and I got an automated message back saying it was received. I haven’t heard back from anyone. I want help. I want to use the Premium Plan and I want it to restart as I have not been able to utilize it at all yet, so the plan hasn’t even begun yet, I can’t get anyone to help me get this figured out so I can keep my 7-8 years of information but utilize the premium plan that got linked to the wrong email. Thank You. Peggy.
  21. I noticed that if my last action in a note before closing it is Find/Replace, then the Find/Replace changes are not preserved in the sync. Has anyone else noticed this? I can replicate the error with these steps: Create note with title Test Note Type ABC on several lines in the note Find/Replace all ABC with QWERTY Sync with F9 Close the note Test Note Open note Test Note and see all ABC still there and none of the QWERTY If I modify the steps above by inserting step 3.5 of typing any text somewhere else in the note before following the remaining steps, then the Find/Replace changes are included in the sync. Not sure about the inner workings of EN, but maybe something like Find/Replace by itself doesn't set the internal trigger that the note has been modified. Thanks, Mark
  22. I'm on a 2014 Mac Air, up to date with High Sierra. My EN version is 7.0.1. My browser is Firefox, up to date. I can't clip articles to one particular notebook - it doesn't show up on the Notebook list on the clipper pulldown. If I search for it by name nothing shows up. It doesn't show up on the website when I'm logged in via Firefox either. I can only access this notebook on the laptop app. I've synced from both ends but it's still not showing up. Any ideas please? Thanks!
  23. I am just starting to use Evernote. When I first got the program with my computer Win 8.1), I played around with creating a notebook and writing a couple of notes. Now that I am trying to set up the program more seriously, I find I cannot delete that folder. While traveling last week, I used my Win 10 laptop to create a new folder and put my notes in it. Unfortunately, I do not have a smart phone. I also do not have access to high speed internet (yes, it still happens in rural areas!). So here is where my problem starts. I tried copying my notebook to Evernote on my desktop. I found a way to move the database over and the notebook does show up on my desktop, although the notebook name is greyed out, and I have access to the notes in the folder. However, the original notebook is still there and Evernote is using that as the default folder. I cannot delete that folder (probably because it is set as the default). Evernote will not let me change the default folder, either. The new folder I copied over is greyed out on the panel and does not show up at all as a choice for default folder. I've hit the sync button hoping the notebook would then show up on my Evernote webpage but it doesn't do that. (By the way, does sync work between 2 computers or only computer and phone??) Since I can access my notes from the new notebook, this is not a big deal but I guess I just like things neat and not having stuff clutter up my work space that I don't need any more. Any suggestions on how to get rid of that old notebook and get Evernote to recognize my new notebook as the default? Thank you.
  24. Okay, so maybe Evernote Basic or Personal can live without the Ding! at the end of the sync cycle. But how can we have people paid by the hour to get work done - I mean outside of Evernote - using Evernote as a tool, sitting and watching the sync wheel?? Surely this waste of time negates the benefit of using a business application intended to save time. I'm so tired of sitting at my desk watching the Evernote sync wheel spin. I have THREE computers set up now, so I can do other things while waiting. Since 2010 I have been asking for an audible sound when the sync is done. Please, this is wasting so much of my time and as an Evernote Certified Consultant I just can not justify billing my clients for this time. I can't afford to do it for free, and Evernote so far has not offered to pay me for my time logged waiting for the sync to happen. I work on large numbers of notes, doing group tagging and moving from notebook to notebook, then sharing these notebooks between different EBA's. I have learned that I MUST sync after tagging BEFORE moving, or the tags don't 'stick'. Notebook name changes are the same. Change the name, sync. Share the notebook. Sync. Receive a shared notebook, sync. Evernote doesn't let me do anything while it's syncing so I have to sit and wait and wait and wait. Is anyone else having this problem? Any time I've brought it up with Evernote Support (miss ya Terry O!) they say they are working on making the sync happen faster. Or in the background. Or anything BUT adding a ding! when the sync is done. Can we have the Evernote Business development team look into this?
