  1. Hi, Is it somehow possible to exclude one or a small set of notebooks from syncing with my mobile? - Can one mark/tag a notebook so it' not included in the syncing (=download to phone) ? - Can I move a notebook into some kind of archive/'backburner' to keep it from being synced? Cheers and best regards. H.
  2. I just recently switched over to an iPhone 6+. I noticed that I am missing several Tags on my phone that are on my laptop. Some of them are rather important for scheduling, etc. Any ideas on how I can fix this? Thanks
  3. I'm finding odd things occurring. Two notebooks that I opened on my laptop (Windows 8 Chrome) out of 44 simply will not download to my Android phone or Samsung tablet. I've checked notebook properties on both of them, and they are both showing synchronized, and I can't figure out how to make them show up on the other devices. I actually thought I had solved the problem without knowing how, because I think that a few days ago those two notebooks showed up on my phone, but they are gone again. I also find that one document which I downloaded as a pdf to my Samsung tablet and shared to Evernote by making a new note is not syncing to the other devices. How do I get this to work? Third thing - I've downloaded some owner's manuals into Evernote. They show up as manuals on the laptop, but show up as only attachments on the other devices, and take forever to load. Can I fix this? Yes, I've manually synced several times. I've done everything I know to do to fix this problem. Can someone walk me through other options?
  4. I teach using Evernote, and two students had the same problem with disappearing notes today in our computer lab. (I've searched the forum for this exact problem, and while there are many disappearing notes posts, none seemed exactly the same.) As far as I can tell, both students did the same thing: At home, they added new notes through a web browser (Firefox for one, Safari for the other). There was no problem, and the auto-syncing of using web notes seemed to work. When they came to class, they logged into their accounts through Internet Explorer in the computer lab on Windows 7 PCs in the lab. They each found that one of their notes (I believe the newest one?) was still there, with the title intact, but with the content erased. When they added a new note in class, the same thing happened again: the previous note's title remained, but its content suddenly disappeared. These were both in folders they had shared with me, so I logged in through both the desktop client (Windows 7) and web client to check, and what I saw echoed what they saw on their screens: notes remaining with missing content. Any advice?
  5. This issue first occurred a couple of weeks ago. I start a note on my phone and it syncs correctly at the first few attempts. Then it refuses to sync again, resulting in the loss of everything typed since the last sync. I can start a new note but the same thing happens again. Web syncing is working correctly. I am on Android 4.4.4 and the most recent update of Evernote. I think that the recent update has caused this. (I have used Evernote for 2 years but am not on Premium)
  6. I'm usually the first to get any update, but this time chose to wait with iOS8. Having recently isntalled the iOS 8.0.2 in my iPad air and iPhone 4s, i realized that the app is having sync issues, showing a message that 'Sync was not completed because connection with server was lost'. Does anybody face the same problem?
  7. I recently updated to IOS8 on an Iphone 5. My old notes have not synced. All new notes sync fine! Any ideas??
  8. Hi Folks, I am using Evernote Free app of 5.6.4 version in my mobile as well as PC. I am facing a problem between my mobile and PC versions. Below is the description. I will make notes of whatever I have read at home in PC evernote (say 10 points/Lines as text). When I want to update this notes at my convenience(say when outside and not accessible to PC). I will do it from mobile (where data in my mobile is not in sync with current data from server as I have not sync'd it in past 2 days- say I have only 8 points of earlier said text in mobile), will add few additional points and I will do it offline. In this case I am updating my notes with additional content and when I sync it with server, the earlier data(10 points) is getting overrriden with the data of 8 points along with additional content which is being added offline. (here I am losing my old 2 points) Is there any way to identify the conflicts between server and mobile versions so that it could ask for a merger of both data (or) overwrite the server version before updating if there are any conflicts? I dont know if it could be solved or this is the behaviour. Please let me know, If any body could assist me. Thanks Adams
  9. i have two devices using IOS 8.02 that are not properly syncing with evernote. Iphone 5 and iPad 2 many notes are missing. The notes were origionally written on the Ipad. all recent notes are properly synced to all devices i was panicked untill i found out the notes were alive and well on my older ipod touch (ios 6.1.6) and are still available on my computer evernote connection. I have read the "answer you are looking for" page for "won't sync" but that didnt seem to help. why wouldnt these files be syncing? how do i get the files that are online and on my ipod touch onto the other two devices? many thanks in advance
  10. Hi- I have the evernote app on my Samsung device where I have been recording meetings I go to. I'm trying to sync those audio recordings to my web account (so I can transcribe easier). I've selected sync multiple times, turned the device on/ off multiple times, but some of the audio still won't go to the web account. Is there a step (or steps) I am missing? Thanks, Nicolle
  11. Hi. I am about to buy a new iPad Air and want to set up a system where I can take handwritten notes in meetings and: 1. have them exported to Evernote 2. allow me to search through those notes from within Evernote. I'm looking at Penultimate mainly, but have a question about syncing. I have seen something in the forums about problems with automatic syncing, but the threads were fairly old. Here's the issue - I want to take the handwritten notes in an iPad app while I'm not connected to wifi - but then later in the day (when I am connected to wifi) sync those notes to Evernote. And then have them be searchable in Evernote. Is this a problem with Penultimate. I saw an earlier thread that was complaining about problems with automatic syncing when there was no wifi available - is this still a problem? And if so, is there a better handwriting app that would allow me to do what I want? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer. I really appreciate it. Frank
  12. I have decided to add the Evernote widget to my iphone ios 8 version "today" screen. I created a reminder in my mac Evernote application. I have synced Evernote on my mac, and my iphone. This reminder does not display when I either click on reminders in either the iphone widget or the iphone application. A calendar does display with the option to create a new reminder. Also, I am able to view the reminder when I view the notebook I have established for this note-reminder, This makes sense but would not users want a display of their current reminders that have already been scheduled? Perhaps I am missing something....Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
  13. Hello, I have 2 Android phones I use daily, both with Evernote app installed and set to auto sync every 60 minutes, one is used more frequently than the other. The problem I'm having is when an EN reminder is dismissed/completed/changed on Android #1, new reminder status syncs to EN on Android #2 just fine, but the reminder notification, which popped up on both phones at the same time, does not dismiss itself on Android #2 notification panel to reflect changed status, I always need to manually swipe the notiifcation away. Is there a plan to properly implement cross-platform, cross-device sync function?
  14. Apparently, I downloaded a version of EN on my Kindle Tablet some time ago, under an old email address, and never used it. I have downloaded a version of EN on my PC under a newer email address. I am using this version of EN and really like it. The problem is that when I try to sync this info to my Kindle Tablet, it will not sync. I have tried to delete the older version on my tablet and re-install the version that is on my PC, but it will not delete. Any suggestions? I am new to this forum and hope that I am using it correctly.
  15. I created a notebook in Penultimate, synced it to Evernote, then later edited that note with skitch. When I returned to Penultimate, the entire note was gone. The annotated version of the note/notebook did not update in Penultimate. (My first test deleted completely from Penultimate and Evernote.) I am trying to create one penultimate notebook for each client that can be added to quickly with a backup in Evernote, but I can't seem to get that to work. Am I missing something?
  16. I recently downloaded Evernote on my android devices and am having problems syncing them. I continually get "Last sync failed at: #date/time# user id: ########". Uninstalled app multiple times. Restarted all devices. Cleared app data. No luck. Any suggestions?
  17. Hi, is there any way to turn off auto sync? Syncing after every small change annoys me ;/ I was also wondering if there is any tool to draw inside notes, just under a text? Penultimate app is great but whats the I cant add penultimate note straight into note. thanks for help
  18. Hi, I have some notes with audio recorded. I just realize that all of those audio files has 0 byte size, but when i try to play those files, i can hear all of the sound clear and complete! What happened there? Also, the files cannot be copied, e-mailed, or sync. It says 'Syncronization Failed' 'the content is invalid' How to solve those problem?
  19. I have a new android, and when I installed Evernote there only showed old notes. On my old phone, I checked and apparently it had not synced for a long time - perhaps a password change on the main site or something. So, I want to sync my changes from my old Android. But, when I try to sign out so I can use newer credentials, I receive an error: "WARNING: You have unsynchronized notes. Logging out will delete all local information and your changes will be lost. Do you want to sign out?" I do not want to lose these local changes, I want them uploaded with the new password. Any way to do this? The account info in settings is greyed out, and there seems no place to update a password to initiate a new sync. I should add that at the status screen on the old android it says "Authenticaiotn error".
  20. I used to use Evernote on my phone to store entries in my dream journal (to help with lucid dreaming) and I recently had to do a factory reset but thought that my notes would be safe. After I found out that not a single note since February 2013 had been synced. I found that they still seem to be stored on the sd-card in a html-format. Is there any way to get them back into Evernote? I have read a few threads about similar problems but have not found any answers.
  21. Hello, I am using Evernote client on a Windows PC and an Android device, as well as the web version, without any problem. I am now trying to add a second Android device, with the same account. I log in to Evernote on this second Android device with the correct account (I double and triple checked), and start the sync At this point I would expect all my notes to be downloaded on the device. Instead, the Evernote App tells me that the sync has been successful, but no note is downloaded. I am baffled, can anyone help me to figure this out? Alex
  22. Hi I'm very happy with Evernote, it's like an external memory for me! But today I found out that the app on my Android doesn't sync anymore since 7 October 2012. It stops at 75% downloading the headers and than says that sync has failed. I would rather not logout and login again or remove the app and reinstall it because I will lose all the notes that are not yet synced since 7 October. Is there a way to find out what is going on or to backup the database on my phone before troubleshooting so that I won't lose any data? With kind regards, Ricky
  23. I'm using the Clipper extension on both Chrome and Chromium... but for some reason the "syncing" notification never terminates. Usually I just click somewhere on the page and it goes away. Even though it never completes, the clip does show up in my account... Not sure why this is happening... I'm always wondering whether I've terminated the sync prematurely, but for the most part, things work out. Sometimes uninstalling and reinstalling helps, but only for a short while. What's up here? Am I the only one seeing this?
  24. Even if Evernote syncs perfectly reliably, multiple conflicts can lead to conflicted changes due to connectivity problems or other practical matters. It seems there are at least 3 things that make conflicts more likely and painful than they need to be: 1) The last modified date of a note is not readily visible when you go to edit the note (especially on the mobile app). With that, one could check when notes are probably out of sync. "I know I changed that note today, but the last modified says yesterday...better sync!" This would be an easy and effective precaution. 2) If a sync fails, notify me immediately. Don't let me discover days later...oh, there's a whole other version of this note copied below the main version under the "Conflicting changes" line. That is really really bad, because I could then end up editing different parts of the different copies because I didn't realize everything was duplicated in the same note. Sometimes Evernote will save the conflicting version of the note in a special conflicting notebook and alert me. And that at least lets me know it happened and doesn't mix the two. But sometimes it quietly just copies the entire conflicted note at the bottom of the same note. I have no idea why, but the latter is really unfortunate, especially with a huge note that can be incredibly time-consuming to reconcile. For example, I have a rather large note with several hundred lines. It got "duplicated" (conflicted copy pasted to bottom) three times without my realizing there were conflicts causing this to happen. So that's 8 versions in one note I have to painfully reconcile, line by line. Until I find the time to do that, whenever I look up a particular part of the note, I have to check all 8 manifestations of it in the note if I really want to make sure I have the latest and didn't accidentally edit one or more of the copies at some point. The same note would, at other times, have conflicts put in a separate "conflicted changes" note. I have no idea why this was not consistent. 3) On that note, so to speak, it seems odd there is no reconciliation for conflicts. (https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/30018-conflict-resolution/) It would go like this: "Here are 2 versions of the note that conflict, but look, only line #142 changed since the last good sync. Here are the changes side-by-side. Which do you want to keep?" Easy for the user. It's interesting that there is versioning...but no line-by-line versioning which is necessary for a note of any length. (It doesn't have to be as fancy as an MS Word redline. Wikipedia has a good system.) I have no idea how one is expected to reconcile notes of any length when the changes are not identified in any way. (I personally use unix diff for this; it is a pain.) (For me, Evernote on iOS actually doesn't sync reliably. My computer and iPhone are supposed to sync every 5 minutes, yet I sometimes end up editing an old version on the phone, even though both have had the chance to sync for hours, and even though I have since made a habit of syncing as soon as I open the iPhone app, something I shouldn't have to do manually. But I assume this is being worked on on an ongoing basis.) This stuff affects anyone who experiences conflicting changes, which I assume is every single Evernote user, whether sharing or solo. Thanks, - ND
