  1. Evernote syncs the same on my ipad and my iphone. But, it is 90 notes less than syncs to a mac or a windows system which are the same as the web. All evernote versions are the latest - 6.0.15 on osx 10.10.4; 5.8.13 on Win 8.1; and 7.7.8 on iphone & iPad ios 8.4. I've tried reinstalling to no avail. If anyone has any thoughts, please let me know.
  2. I'm using the latest web clipper for safari (v6.5.1), and it keeps trying to synch forever. I see reports of this same problem going back to versions from early 2013. Has anyone figured out a workaround (aside from not using the damn web clipper)?
  3. Paid user for past year or so. I am a chronic note taker. Prior to consolidating my "thoughts and ideas" into one single note, I would create a note for every single flash thought it cool thing I read. No issues at that time. Should note, I run Evernote on my iPhone and iPad predominately but do also have the desktop software on my work PC and home MacBook Pro (although I rarely open the desktop software on either computer). My challenge is this, I consolidated the bulk of these disparate notes down to one single LONG note and now said note does not sync correctly. It only becomes larger and larger as it attempts to sync itself doubling in size. Evernote on my iPad won't even stay open. It just closes as soon as the background syncing initiates. You can tell that it basically says, no thanks and closes. This has been going on for two years now at least and I have tried copying my note from Evernote over to a Microsoft word doc so that I can then go and purge all of the redundant content. I then create a new note and start all over and save it, and sync it. The problem is, I do this on my desktop and my Evernote account looks clean and it looks like I have remedied the problem. But then the changes that I made, erasing the original compilation note, adding the content back as a new note, is not reflected across all my devices. I have artifact notes reflecting the old previously erased note on my iPad for example. I'm on the verge of giving up. It's just too unwieldy to deal with and I don't like the fact that when I add content to this one long compilation note, I can't trust that it will be reflected on my other devices. I actually have many instances where I've added content to this long compilation note via my iPad and it has never shown up on my iPhone. My question, what do I do? Has anybody else had this problem?
  4. EN Mac App - existing note edited and wifi sync. several hours later lookup EN iPhone and the edits are not there. Not on EN web or trash. Submitted trouble tickets with no response. Paid for PLUS, no response, replied to my email trouble tickets, no response. I read if I upgraded I would see conflicts in trash. But nothing is there for that date. Any help is appreciated. RR
  5. Hi All I recently noticed the note count on my ipad was different to that on the web and the windows app. Being as sad as I am ( and able to as I dont have that many notes) i compared the number of notes it says there are in each notebook on the ipad to the web. Now there is only one notebook that is different however the total note number is now over 40 out. I know in itself its not a particular issue its just I dont know whether my Ipad is upto date if the number never changes! Any ideas? Thanks
  6. Hi there folks. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Yesterday, I spent a very long time writing out a long note on the Android tablet version of Evernote (Nexus 7 2013, Android v. 5.1.1). However, I did not have an internet connection at the time, so the note was not synched to the cloud. I did click on the tick icon periodically though, and so believe that the note should have been saved to the temporary memory of my tablet. After writing the note, I came out of Evernote to do something else. I returned to the note 15 minutes later but all that was there was a blank, "Untitled" note. I believe that the note must reside somewhere on the tablet however because, if I search for words that I know were in the note, the note does show in the search results but only as blank and untitled. For example, if I had written about elephants, I search for the word "elephant", and the note shows up, but empty. I'm obviously gutted, because I put a lot of work into the document and I was wondering if there is any way to retrieve the work that I put in. Many thanks. A.
  7. Just set up a new iPad Air2. I have notes on an older original iPad, an iPhone 5, and my PC, going back many years. All devices sync all notes properly. But when I try to sync up my new iPad Air2, it only gets newer notes from 2015. No older notes. My web version of Evernote is fully synced, with all notes. Any ideas on what is happening?
  8. I think my phone app has crashed. I can't update it nor open it. In 4 more days I will have space to sync notes. My question is, even though I can't get into my app, will the unsynced notes still sync in 4 days? Hope this makes sense. Thanks.
  9. Since I upgraded to ios 8.3, my ipad 3 will upload notes but will not download them. If I make a new note on my mac, iphone, or windows 7 devices, I can see it on all other devices (and EN Web) but not on my ipad. If I make a note on my ipad, I can see it on all other devices so it appears that a one way sync is going on. I get no error messages. I have about 1g of free space. I have tried closing EN by swiping up after a double press of the home button but that did not help. I also signed out & in again. Any ideas?
  10. I want to know how syncing takes place in evernote. I am creating app with that syncs data to evernote account. What are the ways to update my app data when changes on evernote web is performed. Does evernote provide any notification mechanism?
  11. Hey guys, I was working on my iPad and quite recently, it has stopped uploading my notes to evernote (even the website). So, I went ahead and tried to get the links, email, chat, and export to pdf. It always said that it was generating the link/pdf doc; however, after a few seconds, it would stop functioning again. Now, the only exporting I can do is to email myself the .PEN format note. Although this is helpful in some ways, it is (1) tedious to do for all my notes, and (2) is hard to share with other people because I send others a pdf format file... Please Help ASAP!!! BTW, I use an iPad 3rd gen retina display, if that counts for anything. PMARINA
  12. Hi there, I am using The Secret Weapon approach in Evernote to manage my tasks. So labels are my projects en notes my 'tasks'. I have loads of tasks per project and I want to plan my tasks en see them visually in a tool like Smart Sheets. So reminders are taskdates and subject should be task name, and the note should be the task description. Is there someting available like this I can use, or some workaround with Google Spreadsheets? Thanks in advance!
  13. I want the text files I create in a folder on my Dropbox to be synced as notes on Evernote. I also want edits to those notes to sync back to Dropbox, if possible.
  14. I've discovered a major flaw in the way notebooks are managed and synced with Evernote which could cause major loss of information. This needs to be addressed by Evernote urgently. I have reported this to Support but in the meantime I hope this serves as a warning to other users. In a nutshell, if you delete a notebook in Penultimate because the app says it is empty you will also throw away any non-Penultimate notes stored in there (because these are not reported in the Note Count displayed on the notebook's bade in Penultimate). You loose everything. Without warning. Disaster! For example: Create a notebook in Penultimate, create a new note in in and write something then save it. So far so good. Sync with Evernote and your notebook and handwritten note appear there too. Great! Now type some notes in Evernote and save them into your new notebook (because mixing up types of notes is good - this is what EN and Penultimate is encouraging us to do with the new paradigm in Penultimate version 6 right?). Again, sync. So far so good. You have a handwritten drawing from Penultimate in your notebook and some typed notes from Evernote in your notebook. BUT.... whilst in Evernote you get to see everything in the notebook, and the Note Count reflects the actual number of items in there, on Penultimate you only get to see the handwritten ones created with the app itself (no change there, really). However, the Note Count only reports the number of Penultimate-created items inside the notebook. Not the total number of items. You may well want to delete the note and the notebook it's contained within, but if you do this in Penultimate you'll be acting under misleading information. Penultimate won't warn you that there is other information in there - the items you can't see - and will carry out your request to delete the notebook. In so doing it will also throw away your Evernot typed notes, your web clippings, your PDFs, your images, your sound recordings, EVERYTHING! Bang! You've just lost a load of potentially useful stuff. Remember Everything? Don't make me laugh! So be warned - this could easily happen to you. If it does, for now, look in your Trash notebook in Evernote and fish out your poor discarded notes from there. But why does it have to be this way?
  15. Hi! I am new to both Expensify and Evernote. I linked my two accounts, and added receipts to my Expensify notebook in Evernote, but they are not showing up in Expensify. I have contacted the folks at Expensify, but have not received any help yet. Does anyone have any suggestions/help/suffered the same problem?
  16. I've been using FileThis and evernote to store my bills electronically. For some reason, FileThis makes multiple notebooks. I recently discontinued Directv and decided to consolidate all the DirecTv bills into one notebook. Since there is no notebook merge, I moved the bill from each notebook to a single notebook. There were some 50 or 60 notes. I then deleted the now empty notebooks. Then evernote started its sync. I watched as the note count in the notebook steadily dropped until now, there only 8 notes left! Are they gone forever?? I checked the trash, no joy there.
  17. Syncing my account shows a sync error icon at the top of the screen but there is no way to know which Note is causing the problem. I have generated a lot of content on my desktop and only some of it is being synced to the cloud. I can generated and sync all content on my iPad and iPhone using the same wireless connection. There seems to be an issue with notes created using the web clipper predominantly but not exclusively. What used to be a rock solid platform is now extremely unreliable. Can you define a marker for notes that have not synced or provide a dropdown list of the notes in error so they can be investigated and corrected? How else do i fix this problem? I have cleared my Trash folder in the hopes that the errror was ther but to no avail. Here is the offending lines from the Activity Log, everything upstream of this apears to be syncing correctly. 06:12:35 [5964] 42% Submitting a batch of 10 note calls, size=1.2MB 06:12:36 [13912] 42% Submitting a batch of 17 note calls, size=1.3MB 06:13:32 [13912] 42% No more data to read. 06:13:55 [5964] 42% No more data to read. 06:13:58 [13436] Client synchronization finished, status: failed 06:13:58 [13436] * 4 items received 06:13:58 [13436] * elapsed time: 1m 36s Rod
  18. All notes entered on my Mac appear on my iPhone, but today I typed quite a few notes on my iPhone and when I got home they were not synched with my Mac. I signed out and back in on the Mac and nothing would work. I tried switching notebooks and such and still nothing. When I signed out and back in on my iPhone, I lost all the notes completely. Bummer. There's no save, right? Why did the notes go away? I am a new user and am using the iPhone app. I have the free version of Evernote… not premium. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  19. Hi everybody! I have had severe problems with EN on my iPad (mini 2) and iPhone (5C) (both with latest available iOS) for a few weeks now. (I have contacted EN support earlier with ticket #842424.) Every time I open EN on my iPhone one of the following happens:1. Most of the times sync starts and app freezes. Completely. Sometimes the app crashes after a while.2. Sync starts but never ends (it gets stuck with headers or reminders). 3. Sync starts but after a while error message appears (connection timed out). 4. Sometimes sync is completed (might take up to an hour or even more). However all the notes are just blank (they have only title and tags). On iPad I run mostly on problems 3-4 and problems are less frequent than with iPhone. Sometimes iPad syncs successfully but it just takes a very long time. In airplane mode I can use the app (or could if I had offline notebooks) with both devices. I don't know if it is relevant but these problems started around the same time I reached 1000 notes. On my MacBook En works just fine! I have already tried all following multiple times (either together or separately):- Logged out & back in- Reinstalled EN- Restarted and reseted iPhone & iPad After each time I have working EN for couple of minutes (sometimes for hours or even a day) but then then problem comes back. Has any of you found a solution for this kind of problem(s)?There are some posts with similar sounding problems but it seems that I have hit the jackpot and have them all.
  20. I have been using Penultimate on the iPad for about a year. I really like the way that it has (until now) automatically synced to Evernote, my primary reason for installing it. Recently, and I think only have the iPad update is iOS 8, did it quit working so well. Problem: a new note written with my Jot pen on the iPad has only synced the first of two pages. When I open the note in Evernote, only the first page has content; there is a second page, but it is blank. I have tried multiple times to edit on the iPad and force a new sync, but to no avail. Is there a change pending that will fix this?
  21. Today I used an Evernote note to take notes during a university lecture. Approximately halfway through the lecture, my tablet crashed (probably not because of Evernote) and I had to reboot it. After the reboot, all my changes to that note were lost, so I had to rewrite all the contents of that lecture as far as I still remembered them. As I understand, Evernote on Android only saves notes when you tap the save button to close the editing view. Could you add an option to continously save the note or at least make backups somewhere so that I don't lose my progress when the app or the device crashes? In this state, the Android app is not very suitable for taking longer notes.
  22. Hi All, I am new to the forum. After years of trying to organize myself with various tools I decided I really want to embrace evernote, but am having trouble with one particular issue. Here is are my usecases: Business meetings: Use Noteshelf for handwritten notes and technical drawings Telephone calls: Possibly noteshelf or just type into evernote General Web Research: Evernote webclipper Important emails & Documents: Email into evernoteFor an organized view in evernote I will group notes/webclips/emailed content into an evernote notebook naed for each individual customer. So anything relevant to customer "A" ends up in the "customer A" notebook, etc. Within noteshelf I have notebook defined for each customer. Each notebook continues to grow each time I speak with that customer. so I have a single continuous notebook that contains all handwritten notes for each individual customer. Noteshelf has an excellent sync feature that persistently exports selected notebooks up to evernote when a notebook has been modified. My Problem: When noteshelf exports notebooks into evernote it appears as a single evernote notebook, comprised of notes, with each note actually being an exported noteshelf notebook. I can then drag each note to the respective evernote notebook it belongs in and all is right with the world. HOWEVER... the next time noteshelf syncs it removes the dragged note and puts it back into the noteshelf notebook thereby removing it from the evernote notebook. So, simply put, I am looking for a way to persistently link exported (and continuously synced) noteshelf notebooks to an evernote notebook or stack Thanks in advance for any wisdom you can offer
  23. Hi Guys, I recently bought the Samsung Note 4 which is great. It came with a year Evernote Premium so I've been checking it out. Both S-note and Evernote have some distinct and great features, so I would like to use both applications. Both applications feature a synchronization option, which I have checked. But applications are not synchronizing and I can't figure out why. My ideal workflow would be that the hand written action memo's in S-note, are saved in text to Evernote. I was hoping this would be possible via an S-note files (action memo/s-note file/transforme to text). I was expecting to find the same notes in Evernote as in S-note after the sync option is checked. But this is not happening. Any ideas anybody? What are your best workflows for quick hand written memo's and making use of Evernote functionalities? Best regards, Costa
  24. When updating the android app to the latest version, an old version of a note synced over the current version. The version of the note that Evernote somehow restored and synced over the present one, is very old and all the edits I've made are lost. Is it possible to restore the note as it was before the Android update? This makes me question the reliability of EN for important notes, is it common practice for users to backup notes daily?
  25. For some reason the Evernote app on my iPhone is only syncing in one direction. It will download notes that were changed on my Mac or Windows desktop versions, but it never uploads changes made on the iPhone. The new and changed notes on my iPhone display with an up arrow in a little green triangle at the top right corner of the summary screen. I have tired going to the Settings screen and clicking the Sync Now button. This will download changes but not send the iPhone's changes back up. I have tried logging out of Evernote and logging back in. I have tried closing the iPhone app completely and then re-opening it. I have tried turning Airplane mode on and off, and turning my iPhone on and off. (These are all tips I picked up from Googling "evernote ios sync problems".) Nothing works. Has anyone had a similar problem, or know how to fix it? At this point, I am going to give up on Evernote entirely because being able to make changes on my phone and send them back to the desktop app is a crucial part of how I use it. If that doesn't work, the entire program is useless to me.
