  1. Have Evernote sync with devices when they are in the same vicinity.
  2. I'm a programmer; I know and understand "diff" and timestamps. I "get" that these guys want money, and are about to kick off everyone with 2+ devices, but when they have proven totally inept at understanding basic pre-school coding concepts I'm finding it a hard concept to handle: pay money to clueless idiots who never fix anything, or, go through the pain of moving to something else ? So basically about half the time I update notes, I end up with a "Conflicting Changes" version - and this even happens for no reason at times, so I get TWO *IDENTICAL* notes. That's the first idiotic thing: why are they not even checking if a note is identical before marking it as duplicate? I am a programmer - do not tell me about spaces and tabs - this is a 101-basic problem that evernote should have solved. Next: I see a "dot" in the Sync column of some notes... why? What's that about? Looks like some ghastly bug they're perpetually not fixing. This is a rhetorical question: I do not want to know why. This is a bug Evernote needs to fix, not anything we need to waste breath on. Next: My mac version crashes *every* time I close it. No matter how many times I submit a crash report to apple... same every time. Next: I've got one "note" that I use semi-regularly, and it's mysteriously "vanished" at least 3 times now - first time I thought I was going crazy, second I realized I wasn't, third I just got angry: that kind of programmer screwup is unforgivable: it is REALLY HARD to notice something that's "missing"... it should never be possible for anything to "vanish" EVERNOTE: If you're reading - blacklist all "feature creep" for a month, and go back and fix everything that's broken!!! Finally: I *am* a programmer: this page stinks of total ineptitude: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208313378 - the first 2 suggestions are cool - no worries - but EVERY ONE OF THE NUMEROUS ONES THAT FOLLOW HIGHLIGHT THAT THIS PRODUCT IS A STEAMING PILE OF BUGGY RUBBISH. The mere fact they've got SEVEN different suggestions for how to overcome their inbuilt bugs (e.g. " Uninstall/Reinstall Evernote") tells us that they get loads of complaints about this - but have never taken the time to fix anything. GUYS: How about you make this thing work before you demand money from us???
  3. Hello all, My employer has a business account with Evernote, so I use it to keep notes in my role as an analyst. I have a stack called ENERGY COVERAGE, under which I put a notebook for COMPANY ABC, and then within that I keep my notes about each company. I spend most of my time on the desktop application and use the mobile app mostly for reference with occasional updates. I've noticed that many of my notebooks are not syncing to the right stack on my mobile app. For example, on my desktop I currently have three stacks and on my mobile application it shows all of my current stacks plus old stacks that have been deleted, had the name changed, or had all of the notebooks removed. I used to name ENERGY COVERAGE just ENERGY, and both show up on the mobile app, but only the new name shows up on the desktop application. Any idea if this is a setting or a known bug? Thanks, Eric
  4. Dear Evernote Team, I have found that a particular note is not saving. This is quite disconcerting as I save important information here. I am using a evernote on my mac. When I write in this note and change to a new note and change back to the original note the text I wrote moments before is missing. Other notes do not seem to be affected. I do also have evernote on my andriod phone but I rarely use it there. I am a premium member, please can you advise me on this? Best, Mark
  5. I use evernote on my galaxy and Mac, and everything was working properly. Because my mac is a bit old, it sometimes freezes out of blue, and rebooting often works fine. One time, the freezing occurred while I was writing notes in evernote, and I rebooted as I normally do. When I started evernote, everything was reset: the notes, view setting(?), and trashcan. The font setting and other settings were remaining the same. All the other application were working fine, so I checked web evernote and phone app, and all the notes were there. The sync button on mac seems to work as it does not show any error, but the notes won't load. I redownloaded evernote, rebooted properly and did all the other possible things, but the notes are still not loading. How would I be able to resolve this situation? I really need the notes...
  6. I have three folders entitled "conflicting changes" on my home screen that I can't get rid of. Tried clicking them and hitting "delete" and dragging them to the trashcan and neither worked. Suggestions?
  7. Hi there, I am using iOS and Firefox. When I make a change on my phone, the changes do not show up on my browser unless I refresh the page. Is that how it's supposed to be? Thanks, Chad
  8. Hey all, I'm working for a client who disallows utilization of any service which forces cloud syncing through any server other than their own. I'm an avid Evernote user but without the ability to limit syncing to Evernote's servers I'm forced to find another solution. Is there any discussion ongoing about adding the ability to limit Cloud syncing within the iOS application so I can use my iPad Pro with my Apple Pencil to keep my notes secure within the device while not exposing confidential client information to Evernote's servers? It seems that Evernote would have thought about this by now given how awesome their application would be for enterprise users but thus far I can't find mention of client or customer security concerns within their archives or forums. Am I missing something?
  9. I make most changes/additions to Evernote on my computer and then sync to my phone. For years, it has synced automatically, with no problem. But about 6 months ago, I noticed that my phone was not updating. And the only way I could get Evernote to sync properly, was to put my phone in close proximity to my computer. If I do, they sync without issue. But if I want what is on my computer to sync to my phone, I have to remember to move the phone closer to the computer. Nothing else in my home is having a connection issue. I use Apple Airport Extreme as my wireless router, have a Macbook, and an iPhone. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Does anyone have a solution or suggestions? Thanks.
  10. I’m a bit confused about the Background App Refresh/ Background sync of Evernote on IOS. I found an article on the Evernote Blog (http://blog.evernote.com/blog/2013/09/18/the-beautiful-new-evernote-for-ios-7/ see 'Keep Everything In Sync‘) that describes the Background app refresh/ background sync as been introduced with the IOS7 App. "For the first time on iOS, Evernote is able to keep your account updated when the app isn’t active. So, whenever you open the app, your Personal notes are all right there. No more waiting. This feature is also important in the following frequently-occurring situations: - Offline Notebooks for Premium users - When you use Evernote on multiple platforms and devices In all these scenarios, your note list will now be up-to-date at all times. For Premium users, we’ll also make sure that your notes in your offline notebooks are downloaded and available when you don’t have a network connection." So I am a premium user with Evernote 7.7.5 on IOS 8.3 that has the Background Sync enabled for at least 3-4 month now. And it never worked as described above. Has this feature been secretly disabled with any of the Evernote IOS App updates? I am curious if this (background sync when the app is closed) has ever worked for anybody?! thanks for any insights and experiences Manuel
  11. I have a script that moves the currently selected note to a notebook called "Notes". It is mapped to ctrl-opt-f using "FastScripts" so I can quickly file things. I have been using it since 25 Jun 2014 with no trouble. Since 23 Jul 2014, moving notes with this script causes the change to "Notes" notebook to not sync. The note is still in "Notes" on the Mac client (5.5.2 (402634 Direct)) where I used the script, but not on any of the other clients (other Mac, iOS, web). I have confirmed this through repeated experiments. Here are the tests I did to confirm this: View a set of notes in the "Incoming" notebook in Mac Evernote client Change the notebook of "Note 1" to "Notes", using the drop down list to left of tags Sync Mac, then sync iPad "Note 1" shows up in "Notes" on iPad Change the notebook of "Note 2" to "Notes" using ctrl-cmd-m, then selecting "Notes" from the drop down list Sync Mac, then sync iPad "Note 2" shows up in "Notes" on iPad –– Everything is fine up to here –– Change the notebook of "Note 3" to "Notes" using ctrl-opt-f that calls the attached script Sync Mac, then sync iPad "Note 3" shows up in "Incoming" on iPad, even after multiple re-syncs. It should be in "Notes" I raised this as ticket # 655982 , and received the following reply from support, so I assume they will not investigate further. My script is attached. Has anyone seen anything like this before?
  12. Hello, I want to not show the EN menulet, as it is taking up too much space along with some others I want to get rid of. I use LaunchBar, and it can easily shove stuff into EN, but the app must be open, and it brings it to the foreground. This is bad on a couple levels, though I am pretty sure i could shove it in the background by editing the script. However, with the cell phone companies being so rediculous with bandwidth, I can't afford to just fire up EN and have have it start syncing. I will blow through my data plan in a day. I need to make sure I am on a wifi network for stuff like that. When I make a new note with the minute, does it just write a file to a folder somewhere that EN looks at and then adds when you launch the app?
  13. Hallo Everbody, I am syncing my Evernote reminders with my Google calendar using cronofy from the Evernote App Center. Since two days I am havin sync problems. Even after deleting and reconnecting the cronofy account changes work only from Google to Evernote. Entries from Evernote to Google work only when the connection is first established. After that changes in remindernotes or new notes with reminders will not be changed or established in google. I tried it with an outlook account with the same problems. Is anybody else having the same problems or knows how to help? Thanks in advance
  14. I am using Evernote Basic and until recently the automatic sync from my Noteshelf notebooks has worked just fine. However this message has started to appear "Unable to authenticate with Evernote" and the sync between Noteshelf and Evernote no longer works. Can anyone suggest a fix?
  15. Hi, I spent ages implementing a new tagging system with extensive use of nested tags, only for all the tags to unnest when I synced with Evernote. I see in the Evernote web client that nesting is not possible, and have read this is only possible in the desktop client. Anybody experienced this issue with the Evernote desktop client or Nixnote? Is this a bug in Nixnote? Seems unlikely they would have missed this during testing. Thanks
  16. Halo, I have trouble syncing my Evernote in android. It wont sync. I have checked by logging into evernote web. my updated data from my android is not showing, but if I sync my evernote in windows it works just fine. But I use my Android all the time so I need my Android to be sync, otherwise why I need to use evernote if the sync failed. in FAQ page it suggest: Empty your 'Trash' notebook - Sometimes a note in your 'Trash' notebook will cause sync problems. In this case, emptying the 'Trash' may resolve the sync issues. There is no way to restore notes once they have been emptied from 'Trash'.Uninstall/Reinstall Evernote - Before uninstalling Evernote, ensure that all your notes are synced and visible in Evernote Web. You may also wish to backup or save a copy of your notes. How to uninstall and reinstall Evernote on your device.I am going to try emptying my Tras.h Notebook in my android as evernote suggest. How to do it? since I didn't find the option to do it in Trash Notebook. But The main issue is the syncing matter. Could anyone help me with this matter.? I Have attached my Account and device info and also my log for refference. Best regards,
  17. Hi all, I'm using evernote with a free account on OS X and iOS. Yesterday I made some changes to a note from OS X (using the native client, not the web interface), then today I made another addition to the same note from iOS. Now when I look at the note in OS X, the additon is there, but the changes from yesterday are gone. I am guessing the iOS client didn't sync and get the changes from yesterday, then sent in the version with my changes from this morning and clobbered the version from yesterday. I searched for other forum threads on conflicts, and everything indicates there should have been a "conflict" notebook (which I don't have) or an addition at the bottom of the note about the conflicts (I did find one of thse, but it was from months ago). Is there something I should be doing to avoid this? I suppose I could pay the $5.99 to upgrade for one month and get my version history (this particular change isn't really worth it) but that seems like I'm subsidizing dumb behavior on the client's part and I don't have any assurance the original version is even in there. --pvn
  18. Hi I use Evernote Premium on my Mac, iPhone and iPad, they are all update with the OS and Evernote versions. I have found that both my iOS devises often do not update\sync unless I force the to sync manually, is this the correct behaviour or should they be syncing automatically in the background? I find that that when I have added content using the mac and then lease home I end up syncing my iPhone or iPad over the cellular network which in fact I have expected them to sync over wifi at home. Any help or suggestions appreciated. Ian
  19. Hi, I am using Evernote both in my iPhone and Mac. In my iPhone app, I did a small update in my note and saved it, but this was not synced to cloud, not sure why, might be internet issue. After few days, I came to my Mac app and did one update in the same note (But my iPhone update was not there as this was not synced to cloud I guess). So, my latest update was saved and it was synced to cloud as well. But the issue here is, I have un-synced changes in my iPhone app, when I open the app and open the particular note, I can see my un-synced changes before the app synced. Once the app synced, my iPhone changes was over written by my mac latest changes as it is connected to internet now I guess. So I lost my iPhone changes (Which was not synced to cloud) now. Feedback: So, If there is any un-synced changes in the iPhone app, it should not over written by the latest changes done on the another platform (In my case mac app). It could say, you have un-synced changes and do you want to merge it? The option can be over write, merge. If I choose merge option, it should merge both the changes in a single note rather than directly over write. Thanks.
  20. I've had a messy relationship with Evernote, constantly trying to find more reliable solutions to note taking but the flexibility of the service keeps me bouncing back. Sync + collaborative editing are what get me to leave each time. It's 2015! Things like Google Drive + Docs, Dropbox, Google Keep have existed for a while now and all offer instant collaboration and immediate sync (only immediate sync in the case of Dropbox) - hell even Microsoft put immediate collaboration in their clunky Office. Evernote still chugs away with silly things like "version conflict" for a note after I've edited it on my phone and forgotten that the quickest a note can sync is 15 minutes unless I manually tell it to. When I saw that after reinstalling the Mac app a couple of weeks ago, I almost laughed out loud. Why there's such a thing as sync frequency is completely beyond me. This stuff should happen immediately and instantly as you're typing. Saving + syncing with each character that is tapped in. I have signed up for the betas of the Mac and Android application but it's more crucial on the phone that this gets fixed fast. I've had several examples of taking notes in class and rushing to the metro only to get in there, lose my signal, and realize that nothing has been saved. Please update the Evernote infrastructure for sync and collaborative editing.
  21. Evernote replaces the newer ipad version of notes with the older iphone version. How do you fix this?
  22. After I upgraded my Evernote app, I logged in and waited for my notes to be transferred to the new version. Ten minutes later, I tried opening a note, but only saw a blank note. I went to another note in another notebook. Another blank note. Since the Sync button was no longer rotating, I clicked it. A few seconds of syncing later, I still could not see any of my notes. I came back five minutes later and finally saw my note! I edited the note and synced it, then double-clicked the note to open it in its own window. Another blank screen. Realising the note would take some time to load in its new window, I loaded another note in the main window. The note in its own window finally loaded, but I could not edit it! Clicking the end of the line did not shift the cursor. I could select text, but typing did not replace the selected text. Finally, I realised that after loading a note, its title would be reset to 无标题 (Chinese for Untitled Note). I am using a 2012 13" MacBook Pro running OS X Mavericks.
  23. I use my IPAD for both personal and work. I currently scan all of my receipts (personal) with ScanSnap on my desktop, but don't want them to sync to my IPAD which is becoming bloated and constipated. I would like to remove all of the receipts from my IPAD, but keep them on Evernote Desktop and the Cloud. How can I do this? Thanks in advance for your help
  24. This issue just started for me with Evernote 7.7.8. For some reason, even if I make a small change in a note, Evernote sync bar progress is very slow, even though I've only changed a few characters in the note, and even though I just synced! Something has gone wrong, because this has never happened before. Any ideas?
  25. Hi, before the last update (actual version 6.0), when I quit Evernote it used to automatically log me out. Now, if I don't want others to enter my Evernote, I have to log out first then quit it. I don't think this is very clever, specially in some offices or in other places where you sometimes shre your computer with others, or others may access it during lunch hours, for example. If you don't know this "new feature", your data may be exposed to curious people. Maybe you could include an option for logging out when quitting on preferences so, those like me to prefer the old way can use it and those who prefer the new way will still be happy. As I see it, "sync before quitting" is also gone! It makes no sense if the edited data is not available everywhere... People are humans. We forget things we want software to help us not give us more things to remember, specially when we didn't had to. These changes doesn't make too much sense to me but the better way is to give us the option to embrace them or not on preferences. Let me customise Evernote to my needs and taste. By the way, the new look is much better. Thanks, José Eduardo
