  1. Often I use Note Links to organise my notes. I have a primary note which has multiple Note Links to other notes in various notebooks and/or stacks. Is there a way to create this contents/index-style note automatically, creating a note with Note Links to all the notes within a certain notebook or stack? Thanks! Visually: Notebook: Tasks Note 1: Buy a cat Note 2: Learn to backflip Note 3: Go to Mars Then there's an Index function which creates a note in Tasks called, say, Tasks Index, the contents of which is: Buy a cat Learn to backflip Go to Mars
  2. Hello! My relationship with Evernote was rather sketchy so far - I have been in and out and in back again. This time, however, I believe I really start to use it the way it is intended to be used and I see the potential benefits. So I gave Evernote another shot and I think I'll stick around for longer this time! Apart from iOS apps (which are great after the re-design) I am using Evernote for Mac 5.5.0 from Mac App Store. There are two things in there that I cannot get over with or cannot get used to and which are really bothering me. Viewing note attachments If the attachment name is long enough, it will be truncated. It's quite obvious and expected. However, the size of the attachment "bubble" is so small that even a medium-length name will be truncated! It's quite annoying and I would love to see an option to make those bubbles make use of the full note's width. Browsing notebooks I know some people have dozens of notebooks. I have only around 30 or so (including few notebook stacks) but the available options to browse them do not seem very comfortable to me. When I try to access a notebook that I do not use too often (so it does not deserve a place in the shortcuts), I find it slightly irritating that I do not have a bird's eye view of my notebooks so I can locate the one I need quickly. The kind-of-skeuomorphic view requires me to click on my stacks to reveal notes inside. The second view is slightly better but it still can get confusing as notebook stacks can start in one column and end in another and I have to scroll to the side to see remaining notebooks. Perhaps I am old-fashioned but I find these two views bit too fancy. I would love to see a really simple list-based view with notebook stacks as expandable lists with old-fashioned triangles (and Evernote should remember which stacks were expanded and which not) like you can see in some file-management apps. What do you think guys? Do you think I just need more time with Evernote for Mac or do you really think that there is something to these requests?
  3. Is it possible to use the any: modifier on notebooks/stacks? I am able to get it working on most types of data but it doesn't seem to care for notebooks/stacks. I need to be able to query across multiple stacks or notebooks if I have to. An example is: any:notebook:Development notebook:HelpdeskThis is on both Windows 5.0.2 and web version. I've also noticed the web version simply doesn't like the "any:" modifier being typed in. I can see you can manually click and add the "any:" filter on the web version (which works) but I prefer to type than click. Can someone let me know if: I'm doing something wrong These are intentional These are bugsThanks.
  4. Doesn't seem to work for me..........it just ends up in "unfiled". I have a Stack named "Travel". I email air reservations to the "Air" notebook nested within "Travel" but they never appear there....they always appear in "Unfiled".
  5. I think I have encountered a bug. I want to search within a stack using multiple tags. I click on a stack, and then click on a tag. Immediately, the left panel scroll bar starts flickering up and down. Technically the search worked: I see the appropriate notes come up. However, I can't scroll down in the left panel to view other tags (I can for a moment, but then the scroll bar snaps to the top and starts flickering again). I also cannot select multiple tags (using ctrl click). When I try, nothing changes. I also cannot select a different tag. The flickering just continues. Please note, I CAN perform this type of search in a stack using syntax (e.g. stack:tasks tag:@work tag:project-A) and even save the search, but this is not very useful to me because I often need to move back and forth between different tags inside the same stack very quickly. Clicking is much easier and what I need. I am using Evernote 4.6.1.7860 (free, public version) for Win 7 32 bit.
  6. I'm just getting started with Evernote, and I have a bunch of notebooks contained in a Notebook Stack and I have one notebook that I made that did not appear within the Notebook Stack. I see I can drag the notebook into the stack, however, is a Notebook Stack just a grouping of notebooks? Are there any advantages to having all notebooks in a single stack?
  7. Please can we have an option to Copy Stack As.. There's been lots of discussion about templates, and a copied note is always useful as the basis for this; but for more detailed tasks a single note can go on (and on), requiring lots of scrolling to get to relevant information or to add/ edit details. I far prefer a notebook stack with a list of related tasks as separate notebooks under the main project heading. Subsidiary progress and information can be embedded or attached as necessary. Sometime last year Jefito suggested exporting the whole stack and then re-importing to a different notebook I missed that at the time, and have only just been made aware of it via the LinkedIn Evernote Users Group and member Les. The idea looks good, though the whole process needs tidying up with AHK and/ or ENScript.. or a menu option within Evernote. (There's already an applescript, but we only speak Windows around here..) So: once you have your stack set up as a template, all you need do is select the parent and run through a little process that sets up a new parent notebook and installs a copy of the template stack in its new home. Now if only there was a way to set up links between notebooks much more easily I could make the parent notebook my summary control sheet with links to all the subsidiary tasks and developments...
  8. Can I create stack in official EN app in iphone or ipad? I know how to do in EN web or local PC but I don't know on app in iphone or pad.. Is there anyone who knows the answer?
  9. I have Mac version 3.1.2 (just updated to the most recent version that Mac has) How do I make a stack? I have searched and everyone says the same thing - 1) drag a notebook into a notebook and a new stack will be created. I cannot drag a notebook into a notebook - it simply does nothing. I even tried to drag a stack into a stack and again NOTHING - the notebook just pops back into place where I had moved it from 2) Or right-click and choose "add to stack" The only options I get when I right click on a notebook are as follows: New Notebook in "Personal" Share Notebook Rename Notebook Delete Notebook Remove from Stack Sort by notebook name Sort by note count Export notes from "Follow up" That is all - There is nothing on make a new stack anywhere Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong, please. Thank you
  10. I have created a notebook stack using Evernote installed on my Macbook Pro. The master notebook has a number of sub-notebooks under it. But it will not synch to the cloud version. So when I clip a webpage from my other Mac (a desktop machine), I cannot find the sub-folders I have created locally and save items to them. I tried to recreate the stack on my desktop Mac, but all that means is I have two LOCAL versions of my archive with different stacks. What's going on?
