  1. My intent is to be able to view my notes in List View with the following columns: Name, Tags, and Due Date. Obviously the first two are currently available, but the latter is not; the only way to currently view due dates on notes is either in the Card or Snippet views. Even then, thought, you're only able to view notes with due dates separately from the notes themselves. I think the addition of a Due Date column in List View--with the ability to sort them--would create a better flow. It would not only give me an easier way to view upcoming tasks/notes, but also be able view tasks/notes that need to have a due date. If I didn't already imply it, notes that don't have a due date would simply be clumped together at the bottom or top of the list (but not separated from the rest) based on how you sorted the list. With this addition, it'd also be nice to have a pop-up dialog box for adding due dates to notes without having a open the note itself (i.e. right-click context "Add Due Date" that opens a dialog box for adding a date/time). Not only would serve an easier way to add due dates, but give us the ability to add due dates to multiple items that need to be due at the same time (or due dates removed from multiple items). If you guys could add this option to Android/IOS, as well, we'd be best friends. I must also add my most needed request to each and every suggestion I put on here: please, please, please, add multi-select with multi-tag/-move/-delete of notes in Android/IOS. The mobile OS for each already provide a native way of long-press to multi-select. Thanks for the great product, guys/gals! I've been a faithful premium member for over 2 years now, and don't see me changing that anytime soon. Keep up the good work, and God bless!
  2. When I do a search in Evernote for iOS, it shows me the results sorted by Date Updated. Personally, I never want this. I want sorting only by Date Created, but I can't seem to find the option to do this. I can on the Mac, but seemingly not on iOS. Or am I missing something?
  3. Hello community, I run into a problem using Evernote Windows client with regards to note sort order. Every time I reboot my PC (daily), evernote comes up with a sort order by "created" and "reverse sort order". But I want Evernote to sort by "name" and no reverse order and to hold this setup. But as I told you, next time Evernote starts with Windows, sort order is rejected and set to "created" and "reverse sort order". Do you have any idea to last my sort order preset? Thank you, experts! Wolfgang
  4. I have a table the size of 5x200 cells, and need to sort the first column (and their respective rows) in alphabetical order. Is there any way to do this in Evernote? Manually copy/pasting takes way too long, and is no fun. example:
  5. i have a business and personal notebooks. When using the outlook 2013 plug in to transfer mail to Evernote i have a difficulty. the clip dialogue box appear and i can insert tags as normal but when i type the first letter of the notebook into which i want to put the item the dialogue box does not show the subset of all notebooks starting with that letter. I have to physically scroll down and find the notebook i need. All the notebooks appear but they are sorted first personal and then business. Help appreciated
  6. I often wish to quickly change the sort order of my notes in certain notebooks or after note searching; between 'title', 'date updated' and 'date created', and between ascending & descending. In older versions of Evernote this required a few annoying clicks, first to select the 'Sort by' field, then to set the ascending/descending order (not helped by the fact that sorting by Title in ascending order means A-Z, and sorting by a Date in ascending order means oldest to newest — so switching between a date and title sort requires two changes as most of the time I wish a date search to show the newest notes first (= descending order).) Evernote 5 makes selecting a sort order less efficient again: 1. We first click on the 'View options' icon in the notes list, 2. Drag pointer to 'Sort by' and select option from sub-menu, 3. Repeat all this again to set the sort order ascending versus descending. This is a frustrating and slow process if you wish to quickly switch back and forth between different sort orders in order to process notes in a particular order. Two solutions: 1. Create keyboard shortcuts for selecting sort fields and toggling between ascending and descending sort orders. 2. Add field sort-order buttons/links to the toolbar or note list top-bar. Both Windows & Mac UI convention solved this problem decades ago: single clicking on a field header sorts the list by that field. Clicking again reverses the sort order from ascending to descending. Thanks!
  7. Hi. I use Evernote as a todo -list, and set a reminder for most of the notes I create. On the Android these are nicely sorted with those notes on the top, which have their reminder date the nearest. I can scroll down my future to see what I have planned. I would like to see this sort order on the Web UI too, with the most urgent reminders on top.
  8. Hi! I create this topic just for C# example of sorting and search algorithms. For your information I'm just a student. I'm from Sweden, so I write in swedish in WriteLine. I hope that you enjoy! static void Main(string[] args) { while (true) { //Creates an Array with value 100 int[] myArray = new int[100]; //Creates randomizer to make random numbers Random randomizer = new Random(); for (int i = 0; i < myArray.Length; i++) { myArray = randomizer.Next(1000); } //May choose among various sorting algorithms for sorting number (for example Bubble sort) SelectionSort(myArray); //Makes it "fancier" Console.Write("{ "); for (int i = 0; i < myArray.Length; i++) { Console.Write(myArray); if (i < myArray.Length - 1) { Console.Write(", "); } } Console.Write(" }\n"); Console.Write("Mata in talet som du vill hitta: "); int searchNumber = int.Parse(Console.ReadLine()); //Choose between Linear and Binary search: int pos = LinearSearch(searchNumber, myArray); if (pos == -1) { Console.ForegroundColor = ConsoleColor.Red; Console.WriteLine("Talet finns inte.\nTryck 'ENTER' för att försöka igen."); } else { Console.ForegroundColor = ConsoleColor.Cyan; Console.WriteLine("Talet finns på position: "+ pos); } Console.ReadLine(); } } //Here is four methods for example (two sorting and two search algorithms) private static void SelectionSort(int[] myArray) { //Going through all non-sorted elements and find the smallest for (int i = 0; i < myArray.Length; i++) { //Assume that the first unsorted position contains the smallest value int minPos = i; for (int j = i; j < i; j++) { //If we find a smaller element, update minPos if (myArray[j] < myArray[minPos]) { minPos = j; } } //byt plats int tmp = myArray; myArray = myArray[minPos]; myArray[minPos] = tmp; } } private static void BubbleSort(int[] myArray) { for (int i = myArray.Length - 1; i > 0; i--) { for (int j = 0; j < i; j++) { if (myArray[j] > myArray[j + 1]) { int tmp = myArray[j]; myArray[j] = myArray[j + 1]; myArray[j + 1] = tmp; } } } } private static int BinarySearch(int searchNumber, int[] myArray) { int min = 0; int max = myArray.Length - 1; while (min < max) { int mid = (min + max) / 2; if (searchNumber == myArray[mid]) { return mid; } else if (searchNumber < myArray[mid]) { max = mid - 1; } else { min = mid + 1; } } return -1; } private static int LinearSearch(int searchNumber, int[] searchArray) { int position = -1; for (int i = 0; i < searchArray.Length; i++) { if (searchNumber == searchArray) { position = i; break; } } return position; }
  9. I have my search results sorted by title. Each note is prefixed by a date, e.g. [20141205]. After this upgrade - now EN 6.0.3 I have seen that the search results do not get refreshed as fast as previous versions. Right now I have changed the date of a note, it should be resorted to the end of the search results. After a few minutes, it is still sitting there, out of order. Sometimes the re-sorting of notes happens almost immediately - almost like before, but not quite as quickly in my opinion. Many times it can take quite a fe seconds before it re-sorts. The delay of minutes is no unusual. The same also happens if I change a tag that results in the note not meeting the search criteria. Most times it will be removed, but sometimes it will linger. The only workaround I have is to do another search and then go back to the original search. Is this a known issue?
  10. If I open Notebook 1 and sort by title, then open Notebook 2 and sort by created date, when I go back to Notebook 1 it will now be sorted by created date. I always want Notebook 1 sorted by title and always want Notebook 2 by date. This is a minor detail, but annoying nonetheless. I can't imagine this is very difficult to implement - most desktop email clients have this (Mac Mail for sure). Thanks
  11. Hi all, Seasoned evernote user and I'm having major troubles with Evernote on my Mac. I use an older mac laptop runing Mac OS X Lion. I have hundreds of notes to process and desperately need to organize the notes into notebooks. Everytime I uset the "move to notebook" menu command and start typeing a notebook name in the search, Evernote hangs/crashes. Details: Macbook Pro 13" Mac OSX Lion 10.7.5 (supported by evernote version below) Evernote 6.0.1 I am in need of a solution to organize these hundreds of notes, clicking everything with a mouse is insane for a productivity oriented app. I'm loosing faith in Evernote and also looking for an alternative. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  12. It would be very useful to be able to set and store the sort order for each notebooks, away from the default, but set it for just that notebook. I have some notebooks I want sorted in date order, but some in newest first, some oldest first (like a queue - what task to do, or artcle to read next) Others I want sorted by Title It's a pain to resort each time I need to use them. This has been around since day dot for filesystems, and can't be that hard to implement, while having a separate default, so the default will change any notebooks not given a "specific" custom sort order, with the option to rest all, or for a notebook with custom settings, to revert to default. thanks PS Can't wait to try the Android Business cards scanning, any news of an ETA?
  13. Please add a priority field to notes and let me sort them by priority. The current sort options are useless one you have lots of notes. A priority sort would be much more useful.
  14. I know the notebooks are automatically sorted alphabetically, but when doing a search within each notebook how do you search by a through z?
  15. On my Macbook, in list view when I sort by tags, it looks something like this: 1-Now 1-Now, @home 1-Now, @office 2-Later 2-Later 2-Later, @home But then when I view the same thing in on my windows desktop, it looks something like this: 1-Now 2-Later 2-Later 1-Now, @home 1-Now, @office 2-Later, @home I prefer how things are sorted on my Macbook. Any thoughts on how to tweak things on my Windows desktop?
  16. for poeple who had typed thousands of notes in evernote...,many tabs are shared by alot of notes...so when you search notes in certain tag...many will appear..and even if you type 2 tags the notes will appear in most recent order not the one with highest number of matching tags..i sufgest that notes should be listed with the one matching the highest number of tags first...

  18. I have hundreds of notes and some notes contain story board notes which are labeled from Scene 1 to Scene 20. I love organizing notes as "updated" but when i'm in my storyboard notebook I'd love to have it sorted by Title and in reverse instead. Would you be able to implement a per notebook sorting / ordering? Thank you
  19. Microsoft Word has a sort button indicated by a A over a Z and a down arrow. It would be very helpful for sorting and prioritizing notes if Evernote could add a similar feature. Any comments???
  20. Greetings everyone, I've been using Evernote for a few years now and it has become an in dispensable part of my life. It's a quality piece of software that is improved that much more by the mobile applications it offers and its impeccable cloud syncing facilities. I believe the feature that I would like to suggest the devs to consider adding to further improve Evernote is a custom note sorting feature. I admit the rich functionality offered right now is already a boon to any user - novice or deft - and to the devs this suggestion may appear to lean towards superfluity but, I think it would be a thoughtful addition. At the moment when someone shares a notebook with a friend or acquaintance there is the need to make a point regarding an appropriate reading sequence for the notes. A makeshift solution would be to order the notes by enumerating them manually; a laborious process I would think, even for most industrious Evernote users. Moreover, you are either left the task of inserting a tidbit at the beginning of each note to recommended a particular sorting order or outlining to the concerned person the method for enabling the appropriate viewing sequence. This is the case at least for the most ineffectual of computer users and definitely for those who are wholly unfamiliar with Evernote. If however, notes could be sorted by hand with the assistance of a drag-and-drop capability I believed all of these issues would be resolved with much elegance. I ask forgiveness of any Evernote staff have chosen to suffer through this unfortunately long note but, I believe this would be a genuinely helpful feature for all - Evernote users and non-users alike. And I thank you for your diligence.
  21. Hi Evernote Team, Is there a possible way of making the 'sort by date' option to be 'sort by alarm setting'? So far, the 'sort by date' is ok but in terms of showing the notes in the widget, is not arranged into the alarm info. Hope you can take this suggestion as a reality! Thanks! PS: Evernote is very helpful indeed!! Thanks for making this!
  22. I'm studying computer science and I have a strong passion for user experience/interface design. I haven't been the biggest fan of Evernote and I've realized that it comes down to a few pretty simple issues that I feel would enhance the usability of Evernote for many people, including myself. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate what Evernote does and the quality/reliability. However, I would love to see it improve in the following 4 main ways (in order of importance in my opinion): 1. Have a "Sort by" setting for each notebook so that it can be sorted by things like the date they were created/last edited (or user's chosen order). 2. Have a quick and easy list entry (comparable to Google Keep) 3. Change the reminders...I feel they should be a separate thing within evernote (possibly displayed on a calendar style layout) with a note attached to them (rather than the reminder attaching to the note). I would also like the option to have a recurring reminder. 4. Allow for a larger hierarchy of notebooks for better organization beyond two layers (good for OCD people like myself) A point of lesser importance: I would also love to see one or more alternative layouts/color schemes available if possible...I feel this makes a big difference to potential users. Perhaps take some inspiration from EverMemo or Google Keep.
  23. When I try to upload a file and I use the attach files button, I get to a windows explorer window that is automatically sorted by name and I cannot resort by date. Can you please tell me how to do that?
  24. It would be great if you had the option to arrange notes in whatever order you liked by dragging them to the desired position in the list For example, you might want to temporarily drag a note to the top, because it is high priority Being able to sort and group notes is a very natural thing to do Any hope we might get option that someday?
  25. If I merge notes, the top note becomes the top note in the merged note. If I have several notes that are in Evernote in a sequence by date, and I merge them, the last note becomes the top note because the notes are sorted most recent first. I have no problem with changing the sort order to make the note order correct before merging the notes, but could someone please consider adding a feature for merging notes that will show a pop-up window that will let us choose the order of the notes being merged? That would be a nice feature.
