  1. How can I order my notebook stacks in the windows desktop app? I've tried renaming the stacks, thinking that they're alphabetical, but the order didn't change. I've tried dragging, but nothing changes about the order. I searched help but found nothing, only about how to sort notes within a notebook. Can't even find anything about how to sort notebooks within a notebook stack.
  2. It would be very useful to be able to sort table columns, ascending or descending. Unless it already is a hidden feature within Evernote!
  3. Ordering notes by Name in reverse order ie z-a or 9-1 is a standard feature in most programs. Eg Excel, Word etc. It would help me greatly if Evernote did this. I would like to order my notes in reverse order dates like: 180122 180121 180120 ...
  4. I'm trying to sort all my When tags so that when I enter a tag starting with '!', I get the following sort in the dropdown list: !!Daily !1-Now !2-Next !3-Soon !4-Later !5-Someday !6-Waiting !9-Completed !Recur !z_Annually !z_Monthly !z_Quarterly !z_Weekly You'll see that I used 'z' to get the periodicity tags to the bottom of the sort. Is there a special character that would sort below letters? I.e., a character that I could replace 'z' with and still have my desired sort order?
  5. It would be fantastic to sort by Audio type note and see only audio notes
  6. I like on the latest widget the option to have several notes displayed but it's annoying that I have no way to control the ordering of those notes. I believe it uses last modified date. It would be really nice if I could specify the ordering to be something more useful to me. At least it could respect the ordering method used within the main app, but it would be even better if I could independently specify the ordering either from within the main apps settings or at creation time for the widget (which would provide the opportunity to have different widgets with different orderings). Thanks.
  7. While using Evernote to create or write a paper, or think through new and complex ideas and strategies, I would like the ability to manually sort notes within a notebook. Say, 32 notes sorted into any order within a any one notebook. Not all thinking is consecutive (linear) but ideas can be built up and ordered over time as the ideas, or concept, or paper, or article, or novel, becomes clearer. Ulysses, which I also use, does this naturally within the product and I find it very powerful.
  8. Just started using Evernote, very happy so far but surprised there is no sort feature? Also pleasantly surprised at the "to-do" right-click menu feature: check all, uncheck all. Suggest adding a sort option -- check-first, uncheck first, and alpha. Overall basic sort feature within notes and, in an ideal world, a more powerful one within tables, would be great.
  9. I would like a feature in notes that lets me flag them as "always on top" in any search in which they should appear. This would allow me to keep certain items on top that I want to work on etc. A check box in the note info menu would be a convenient place to set this.
  10. Hi Guys, I really, really need the possibility to do different kind of sortings in EVERY SINGLE NOTEBOOK! In some notebooks, I create the entries in the way to sort after the title, in some others it's important for me to see the newest entries first. It's awful for me to have the same sorting in all the notebooks. Best, Nicole
  11. So I have read a few different posts that imply it is possible to have different note sort orders by notebook. Example Notebook 1 have the notes within sorted by title in reverse order and Notebook 2 notes sorted by created in regular order and Notebook 3 notes sorted by Updated in reverse order. No matter how many ways I try this it sorts every note in every notebook the same way. Any ideas or help would be great.
  12. Ever since the new iOS update, individual notes cannot be sorted according to due dates (reminders). I used to be able to click on an individual notebook, and view my notes sorted by reminders. Now, there is just a single notebook named Reminders that you can view them by. Am I doing something wrong?
  13. Hello, Wouldn't it be great if you could view your notes by the TYPE of clipping they are? Bookmark / Article / etc etc Please can we have more VISUAL WAYS to categorise our notes, too, not just tagging. Surely I am not the only visually organised person here. What else is possible?! Thanks! Petek
  14. I'd like to have a different view style for stacks and notebooks, for example i'd like to see "card view" for recipes and "side list view" for news. Same for sorting, i'd like to sort "by name" recipes and sort "by update" news. Can you add view&sort options for each stacks&notebooks? Thank you
  15. Hi all! Love Evernote! Use it both private as business. Very important for both is the TO DO function! Can't go without it ;-). But...... with all those notes and different TO DO list I lack overview. So who can help me with 2 questions below? 1) How can I make sure my unfinished/unmarked tasks are in the top off the list and the marked are down in one single note? 2) How can I get a total overview of all unfinished/unmarked tasks of ALL notes? So a master view so to speak? This should be the answer according to Evernote but I can't get it to work: list all the notes in your account with unfinished tasks, click inside the search field, select Add search option > Contains, then select 'Incomplete todos' from the list of options. So above does NOT work: who can help me with Q1 and Q2? How can I get a totall overview of ALL outstanding/unmarked/unfinished TO DO items? Thanks!!!!!
  16. I have a scenario and I'm trying to find the best way Evernote can help me. I am preparing for a trial and I plan to put all the trial exhibits in a notebook in Evernote so I can quickly bring them up during trial. (The tagging, searching, and note-taking features in Evernote are valuable for this.) I typically name my notes "YYYY-MM-DD <title>" so I can view them chronologically. But the exhibit numbers (the number by which the court will refer to the documents) are not ordered chronologically. My question is: once I have my exhibits in Evernote arranged chronologically, is there a way I could also search by their given exhibit numbers? For example: 3. 2000-12-31 Email 1. 2001-01-01 Agreement 2. 2001-01-02 Note I'd like to be able to alternately see this list in order of their exhibit numbers and in chronological order. Seems I would need to add a new field for this, but it does not seem this option is available. I've heard someone mention the possibility of editing the "Created Date" but I don't know if or how that's possible. Best I've come up with is to generate a Table of Contents and manually sort it by exhibit number and maintain it separate from the main list, which is an extra layer of ongoing document management I'd like to avoid. Any ideas?
  17. Yesterday my Notebooks displayed in the Left Panel suddenly appeared in non-alpha order. I am using the Evernote software on a ThinkPad, which I have used successfully for over one year and never had this happen before. I have logged out of my account, Quit Evernote from the hidden icon tab, even deleted the software from my computer and re-installed the program, but each time the Notebooks appear in a random order. I do not have this problem on the apps on my iPhone and iPad - the Notebooks are listed in alpha order, even after several syncs. Does anyone know how to restore them in alpha order? Thank you!
  18. I know everybody says not to set up Evernote like a physical file system. However in a tickler system there is a relationship between the notebooks and it is shown by the position in the stack (how it is sorted). I have a stack called "Tickler File" which has 31 Day notebooks and 12 Month notebooks. Currently I have to use the arcane method of prefixing the notebook names with special characters. It took me quite awhile to find a set of characters that worked both on my iPhone 6+ and my Dell laptop running Windows 8. To reset the positions in the stack I am forced to edit ALL the Day notebooks on a monthly basis and the 12 Month notebooks on a yearly basis. All because there is NO CUSTOM SORTING OPTION. When in edit mode (on IOS) you should get the standard 3 bar icon to drag and drop the notebook in its new position in the stack. How hard can that be to implement. I have been programming over 50 years - all you need is an intermediate set of pointers. SURE WOULD MAKE EVERNOTE A MORE VALUABLE APP AND WOULD INCREASE YOUR SALES. I WOULD PAY FOR PREMIUM IF YOU WOULD IMPLEMENT. Custom sorting would be nice for Shortcuts also so the user can control what is displayed in the preview window.
  19. I have a notebook full of notes that I want to sequence for writing a short book. Is there any way to give them a custom sort, beyond the pre-set sorting in the program? And is there any writing tool (software) that I can use alongside Evernote for this purpose?
  20. When I do a search in Evernote for iOS, it shows me the results sorted by Date Updated. Personally, I never want this. I want sorting only by Date Created, but I can't seem to find the option to do this. I can on the Mac, but seemingly not on iOS. Or am I missing something?
  21. i have a business and personal notebooks. When using the outlook 2013 plug in to transfer mail to Evernote i have a difficulty. the clip dialogue box appear and i can insert tags as normal but when i type the first letter of the notebook into which i want to put the item the dialogue box does not show the subset of all notebooks starting with that letter. I have to physically scroll down and find the notebook i need. All the notebooks appear but they are sorted first personal and then business. Help appreciated
  22. I often wish to quickly change the sort order of my notes in certain notebooks or after note searching; between 'title', 'date updated' and 'date created', and between ascending & descending. In older versions of Evernote this required a few annoying clicks, first to select the 'Sort by' field, then to set the ascending/descending order (not helped by the fact that sorting by Title in ascending order means A-Z, and sorting by a Date in ascending order means oldest to newest — so switching between a date and title sort requires two changes as most of the time I wish a date search to show the newest notes first (= descending order).) Evernote 5 makes selecting a sort order less efficient again: 1. We first click on the 'View options' icon in the notes list, 2. Drag pointer to 'Sort by' and select option from sub-menu, 3. Repeat all this again to set the sort order ascending versus descending. This is a frustrating and slow process if you wish to quickly switch back and forth between different sort orders in order to process notes in a particular order. Two solutions: 1. Create keyboard shortcuts for selecting sort fields and toggling between ascending and descending sort orders. 2. Add field sort-order buttons/links to the toolbar or note list top-bar. Both Windows & Mac UI convention solved this problem decades ago: single clicking on a field header sorts the list by that field. Clicking again reverses the sort order from ascending to descending. Thanks!
  23. Hi. I use Evernote as a todo -list, and set a reminder for most of the notes I create. On the Android these are nicely sorted with those notes on the top, which have their reminder date the nearest. I can scroll down my future to see what I have planned. I would like to see this sort order on the Web UI too, with the most urgent reminders on top.
  24. Hi! I create this topic just for C# example of sorting and search algorithms. For your information I'm just a student. I'm from Sweden, so I write in swedish in WriteLine. I hope that you enjoy! static void Main(string[] args) { while (true) { //Creates an Array with value 100 int[] myArray = new int[100]; //Creates randomizer to make random numbers Random randomizer = new Random(); for (int i = 0; i < myArray.Length; i++) { myArray = randomizer.Next(1000); } //May choose among various sorting algorithms for sorting number (for example Bubble sort) SelectionSort(myArray); //Makes it "fancier" Console.Write("{ "); for (int i = 0; i < myArray.Length; i++) { Console.Write(myArray); if (i < myArray.Length - 1) { Console.Write(", "); } } Console.Write(" }\n"); Console.Write("Mata in talet som du vill hitta: "); int searchNumber = int.Parse(Console.ReadLine()); //Choose between Linear and Binary search: int pos = LinearSearch(searchNumber, myArray); if (pos == -1) { Console.ForegroundColor = ConsoleColor.Red; Console.WriteLine("Talet finns inte.\nTryck 'ENTER' för att försöka igen."); } else { Console.ForegroundColor = ConsoleColor.Cyan; Console.WriteLine("Talet finns på position: "+ pos); } Console.ReadLine(); } } //Here is four methods for example (two sorting and two search algorithms) private static void SelectionSort(int[] myArray) { //Going through all non-sorted elements and find the smallest for (int i = 0; i < myArray.Length; i++) { //Assume that the first unsorted position contains the smallest value int minPos = i; for (int j = i; j < i; j++) { //If we find a smaller element, update minPos if (myArray[j] < myArray[minPos]) { minPos = j; } } //byt plats int tmp = myArray; myArray = myArray[minPos]; myArray[minPos] = tmp; } } private static void BubbleSort(int[] myArray) { for (int i = myArray.Length - 1; i > 0; i--) { for (int j = 0; j < i; j++) { if (myArray[j] > myArray[j + 1]) { int tmp = myArray[j]; myArray[j] = myArray[j + 1]; myArray[j + 1] = tmp; } } } } private static int BinarySearch(int searchNumber, int[] myArray) { int min = 0; int max = myArray.Length - 1; while (min < max) { int mid = (min + max) / 2; if (searchNumber == myArray[mid]) { return mid; } else if (searchNumber < myArray[mid]) { max = mid - 1; } else { min = mid + 1; } } return -1; } private static int LinearSearch(int searchNumber, int[] searchArray) { int position = -1; for (int i = 0; i < searchArray.Length; i++) { if (searchNumber == searchArray) { position = i; break; } } return position; }
  25. It would be very useful to be able to set and store the sort order for each notebooks, away from the default, but set it for just that notebook. I have some notebooks I want sorted in date order, but some in newest first, some oldest first (like a queue - what task to do, or artcle to read next) Others I want sorted by Title It's a pain to resort each time I need to use them. This has been around since day dot for filesystems, and can't be that hard to implement, while having a separate default, so the default will change any notebooks not given a "specific" custom sort order, with the option to rest all, or for a notebook with custom settings, to revert to default. thanks PS Can't wait to try the Android Business cards scanning, any news of an ETA?
