  1. Hello. I was just wondering if anyone else has had issues with the syncing between their multiple devices? I have EN Premium on my iPhone, MacBook Pro, and my Windows computer at work running Windows 10. I do a lot of jumping around between my devices throughout the day, and I have noticed that it takes a very long time for Evernote to sync all of my recent changes across my different devices. Example: I upload a PDF to my MacBook, add it to a notebook in EN, switch over to my Windows EN, refresh, sync, sync again, wait 10 minutes, sync again, restart EN, sync again, and the PDF that I uploaded from my MacBook is still not showing up on my PC, nor my iPhone. The same thing happens when creating a new Notebook (really any change for that matter). When I do the same things with Google Drive, the changes seem instant; I don't have to wait at all for my Google Drive to sync. Any ideas on how to fix this? Or does EN just take longer to sync? Cheers.
  2. I hope this helps someone else. For the last 6 months Evernote was just about unusable. I would type a few letters in and then have to wait for them to appear. I would change from one note to another and it would sometimes take 30 seconds or more. it would also freeze and I had to close the program and reopen it to use. I googled the problem I was having and there seems to be a real lot of others that were having the same exact issue. One guy solved the problem by keeping his tags listing collapsed, but I really couldn't find a solution. Maybe there's a solution in this forum - but I wasn't aware it existed until I looked for somewhere to contact the company to tell them about this. Anyway, I was just about to dump the software and find something else. But, I've been using Evernote since before it had any working syncing at all, I had to sync the files with a third party program, so I still wanted to find a way to resolve the problem. It finally dawned on me that it might just be one note causing the problem, because re-installing the software on both my laptop and IPhone didn't work. I realized that I had been tracking my medications and the time I took them, every day since 2012. That's 5-8 entries per day listed with the date and time down one column with a space between each day. Now, I have a lot of notes with lots of content, but none that went down the page anywhere near the length of this one note. So I created a new note, copied the current two days of entries into it and then deleted the old note. That was it. Evernote was back! I was so relieved. I hope this helps someone else. Watch the length of your notes. This was 4 years of entries, so you can imagine how much you'd have to scroll to get from top to bottom. Maybe Evernote can eventually fix the way they handle very long notes.
  3. dear team / community, i've been having this problem for a couple of weeks on my android (v4.2.2) phone. on my iPad all is OK. i always install the latest updates, but somewhere in this process a bug must have been included... the whole app becomes unusable, reaction while typing is delayed for more than 10 seconds, sometimes even 30 seconds... i have found a similar thread from 2012, but there was no clear solution posted. any idea / help?
  4. Just wanted to report that for the last couple of days, syncing have been very, very slow on my desktop Windows version (5.6.4.4632). I wanted to know if I am the only one. Can it be related to some Evernote server issue, or is the problem local?
  5. In the past few days Evernote has been running slower and slower on my iphone, almost to the point where it seems frozen. Any idea what's going on? Could I have too many notes? Is it a problem with Evernote. I love Evernote but can't use it if it's not responsive. Help please!
  6. Hi there, I have noticed that sharing notes with several pdfs or image attachments (notes > 5 MB) results in very slow download speeds for the 3rd parties trying to view it. Similarly, attaching images or small videos (15mb) to notes and syncing them is very slow as well (~350kb/s). Are upload/download speeds capped? Or can we configure this somewhere? Thanks.
  7. I'm a premium user of Evernote for Mac 6.0.8, which is the latest version, keep running out of memory on my MBP 13" Retina. After several uninstall and reinstall. The problem still happened. Do you any suggestion? Thanks.
  8. Hi, I'm using Evernote application on Mac OS X Yosemite. After updating to Yosemite, "Save PDF to Evernote" function doesn't work well. I can use it by doing... 1) viewing a web page on Safari or Chrome 2) command + P (and "Print using system dialog" on Chrome) 3) "PDF" on the bottom left 4) choose "Save PDF to Evernote" but, it goes very slowly. I wait for a minute or two until a new note appears with the PDF on Evernote application. Before updating OS X, I hadn't had such a problem. I'm not sure if this is a problem in OS X or in Evernote. Dose anyone have the same problem?
  9. My Evernote app was just updated and now it takes almost two minutes just for a note to show up after I select it on the lefts-side note list. That makes my envernote on MAC pretty much un-usable. Any advice on how to improve the slowness? I have a MAC Mini i5 processor, premium evernote account and a moderate sized database - been using evernote for around 3 years now. Evernote app just updated to 6.0.3 and it told me it was "migrating the database" which took a while.
  10. Hi, I'm a longtime user of Evernote and I'm not very happy with the last big update. The new version is super laggy on my Macbook Air (2014). I thought it may have been a bug somewhere, but there have been a few minor updates since the release and it's still bad. I can't say there's any specific interaction that's terribly slow, but it's like every action is sticky. Anyone else experiencing this? Thanks!
  11. Hi, I have used evernote for about 1 year. At first it worked without any problem. But after an update, I think it was in October, the program is slow and responses slowly when I write notes. I have tried to reinstall the program without any luck. My Mac Air is brand new, so its not the computer. Why is this happening. I`m thinking about deleting the program...
  12. Hi, I've noticed Evernote slowing down quite a lot over the last few updates. I use a desktop version 6.0.5 on a macbook with Yosemite. As I type I have to wait for the words to appear and pressing enter means seconds of waiting for the cursor to appear so that I can begin typing again. Is anyone else having this problem with their Mac? Has anyone found a solution to make it function normally again? I know it's likely not my computer as I can use Word with no problems. Thanks
  13. 6.0.3 Slow on Yosemite Typing, deleting, copy and pasting, all the basic editing functions are slow enough to be called broken on Yosemite. OneNote is looking really good, can I export my Evernote data to OneNote? How do I do that? Any word on when your planning on fixing your product?
  14. Is anyone else having difficulty contacting support? I live in SE Asia so I am rarely online when the chat button is functional. So I emailed my support question 8 days ago. I have also sent two further emails to enquire about the lengthy wait for any sort of reply. It is like throwing a question into the oracle at Delphi. A brief moment of hope and then - nothing. I am not sure if this is just me, or if anyone else has had this problem, maybe the number of premium customers has increased but the number of support staff has not. Because it has never taken this long before.
  15. Hi all, I've been running Evernote for a long time now, and I have it on a Mac pro (16G), Win7 (home premium 64b) (16g ram) and my Android (2g ram). Of all these, Win7 is the slowest to start up. I have an 8 core 3.1Ghz laptop, with up to 12Mbs network connection (the same for all other devices), but for some reason, EN takes a good 60 seconds before it comes up when I first start it on my Win7. On the Mac, it's about 3 seconds, same for Android. What's going on with the WIn7 version? Thanks!
  16. Hi, the evernote version 6.0.3 run so slowly on mac with yosemite, specifically the scroll effects, anyone know who fix it?
  17. I just upgraded to Evernote Version 6.0 (451092 App Store). I opened a note (14,917 words, 104,054 chars). Activity montior showed that the memory used by evernote was 133.5MB. Then I appended 10 empty lines at the end of the note. Memory usage went up to 200MB. Then I pressed RETURN 10 times. The memory went up to 260MB. I kept pressing RETURN. The memory went up linearly and quickly to 400MB I deleted these empty lines. The memory kept increasing. BTW, it is very slow to press keys.
  18. I've been using Evernote Premium for a couple of years, mostly without issues, until recently on Windows 7. I couldn't find an official 'bug submission' route on the Evenote website. Currently using 5.6.4.4632 (272632) Public on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit as well as Windows XP Pro SP3 32-bit On Win XP it starts quickly and quits quickly. On Win 7 it takes a long time to start and to exit. Even after a manual sync, it takes ages to exit. This is a pain, as I want to completely close Evernote before hibernating/suspending my PC, for security reasons. Is this a known issue? Couldn't find it on this forum. Thanks in anticipation for any advice.
  19. So I've been using the lastest version of Evernote (5.6.4.4632) for Windows on a Windows 7 Machine. Everything was fine until I started using Note Links to connect my notes and hyperlinks - now it can take 20 or 30 seconds for certain notes to load. I've got about 2400 notes and most of them are just text. Is this a known issue or is there a fix? Thanks in advance for any help you can be.
  20. Yes, reports of EN/Win "not responding" are getting tiresome but EN is not addressing it and it's getting worse, as I experienced today. 8 minutes waiting for EN to start up before I could use it with "not responding" in the title bar the whole time.. Here is the log - you can see that most of the 8 minutes is just starting the application itself (from 1:01:53 to 11:06:11), with no indication of whatever else is occurring during that time: 11:01:53 [73152] Command line: "C:\Program Files\Evernote\Evernote\Evernote.exe" 11:01:53 [73152] Client info: Evernote Windows/272632; Windows/6.1.7601 Service Pack 1;11:01:53 [73152] Bootstrap info: Evernote (loadedLastUsed)11:06:11 [73152] Bootstrap info: Evernote (loadedDatabase)11:06:11 [73152] Loaded session count: 0, last session: (none)11:06:24 [73152] Opened database: C:[redacted] (4.9GB Fixed)11:06:24 [73152] * note attributes table rebuilt11:06:24 [73152] * resource attributes table rebuilt11:06:24 [69760] Import folder: [redacted]11:07:05 [7960] Client synchronization started11:07:06 [71060] 0% Connecting to www.evernote.com/edam/note/s111:07:07 [71060] 0% Loaded updateCount: 8656411:07:21 [73152] Registered session count: 1, last session: 2014/09/16 11:00:0011:07:23 [71060] 0% Usage Metrics: sessionCount=011:07:23 [71060] 0% Client updateCount: 86564, server updateCount: 8657211:07:23 [71060] 0% Retrieving list of changes from the server11:07:23 [71060] 0% * saved 1 sync chunks, updateCount=8657211:07:23 [71060] 0% Receiving changes11:07:23 [71060] 0% * expunge 0 notebooks, 0 notes, 0 tags, 0 searches, 0 linked notebooks11:07:23 [71060] 0% * update 0 notebooks, 3 notes, 0 resources, 0 tags, 0 searches, 0 linked notebooks11:07:24 [73756] 0% Connecting to www.evernote.com/edam/note/s111:07:24 [73756] 0% Retrieving 3 notes11:07:24 [73756] 0% Retrieving note [redacted]11:07:24 [73756] 0% * guid={364788b0-7615-4b19-8508-f34ec262c035}11:07:24 [73756] 0% * note content, length=100211:07:24 [73756] 33% Retrieving note [redacted]11:07:24 [73756] 33% * guid={e94450bf-4f8e-4a18-a3a4-3a8c23dc065b}11:07:24 [73756] 67% Retrieving note [redacted]11:07:24 [73756] 67% * guid={faee320a-0b89-45c3-81ad-d5da97460839}11:07:24 [73756] 67% * note content, length=21911:07:24 [73756] 100% Submitting a batch of 2 note calls, size=3.6KB11:07:25 [73776] 100% Updating local note [redacted], resource count: 0, usn=8657211:07:25 [73776] 100% * guid={364788B0-7615-4B19-8508-F34EC262C035}11:07:26 [73776] 100% Creating local note [redacted], resource count: 0, usn=8657111:07:26 [73776] 100% * guid={FAEE320A-0B89-45C3-81AD-D5DA97460839}11:09:35 [7960] Client synchronization finished, status: complete11:09:35 [7960] * 2 items received11:09:35 [7960] * elapsed time: 2m 30s What other Windows application takes 8 minutes to start on a basically new machine with 6 GB ram? It's like I'm trying to load a program from a cassette tape drive on my TRS-80. And I pay $50/year for this! As a comparison, I just paid $99 for one year's use of Office365, which includes not only OneNote but Word, Excel, and Powerpoint - and I can share them with my family and install on 5 devices! And get this: I can load any of those office programs in less than a minute.
  21. I've been using EN for four years now, and have quite a few notes (3407). I find these days that it's laggy - it especially takes a long time to open. I'm not sure if it's been like this for 6 months or a year, but a long time. Is it just that I have a lot of notes? I'm sure there are many people out there with far more than I. The latest posts I've found with slowness issues are a year old, so I'm guessing it's not a widespread problem. I have a late 2011 13" mac pro running latest 10.9, and 2x2 GB of memory. Thanks! Jay
  22. I've been on 5.x for a couple of months, and in some regards it is better than 4.x (instantly syncing some notes for example) and in some regards not any better at all. 4.x suffers the same issues. My database is 18GB and houses 23,500 notes (17,500 personal, 6,000 business). My computer has an i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and a Seagate STM500LM000 500GB hybrid drive, so this is NOT an issue with an underperforming computer. EN can go into long bouts of "Evernote Not Responding" while the SSHD grinds. I was working on a note yesterday that had a 60MB CSV file in it and was attempting to add some notes to it, format them correctly, and then share a URL with a co-worker so they could get the attachment and instructions. I've modified EN's registry setting to only autosave every 5 minutes too but that hasn't helped. I could make a change and the SSHD would just grind for 3-5 minutes, leaving me to do nothing else. I finally gave up and after the third time it did this, I forced a full sync and went to the website to finish working on the note and create the shared URL. That is totally absurd. When is Evernote going to fix this problem? This is a daily occurrence with some notes. I am to the point I won't use Evernote in meetings. I make notes in TextPad and save them to EN later, or I'll use EN on my iPad, which has none of these issues. It looks like the database itself needs a full rewrite. And this isn't fixable with a fresh install. It happens on that too, and I shouldn't have to do a fresh install and redownload 18GB anyway. It is time to stop working on the eye candy and catering to the user that has 25 recipes stored in their account and support the heavy users that want to use Evernote to be more productive in many aspects of their lives. It is sad when I have to get better performance out of a web browser or a mobile device that has 1/10th of the resources of my PC.
  23. Hye all I'm posting this message cause my evernote on windows is slow. It takes something near to 10sec to show a note. I haven't so many notes (only 100) Could you help me to solve this ? I've already tried the debug mode, but it changed nothing Thanks, have a nice day
  24. Hello, Evernote is becoming too slow to be used any longer. It takes seconds to update a single keystroke, so it's unusable. I'm using Evernote on Windows (7, 8 and 8.1), iPad 3 and Samsung Note 2 Android, and the problem is the same across these plateforms. Being a Premium User doesn't help. When browsing the discussion forum, it seems that the problem has been around for a long time and Evernote doesn't manage to solve it. What's next for users like me? Frederic
  25. I'm seeing 5 iframes injected into every page that is loaded, aside from all the JS that is running in the background page. These iframes injected into every page really adds up and causes issues with other sites, especially for web apps that already have heavier heap usage. In one specific case, in Chrome a tab with the clipper enabled uses anywhere between 40 to 50 MB of extra memory. If there is no effort or plan to lighten the load, maybe a way for a user to disable the clipper for specific domains might make sense?
