  1. I have been using EN for several years, and think it's great. But sometimes it ticks me off. Just now, on my iPad, I clipped a New York Times recipe into Quick Notes, with "recipe" as a tag. A few minutes later, I open EN, and can't find the damn thing! It doesn't show in Quick Notes and it doesn't come up when I type "recipe" in the search field. In the past, I have also had problems finding notes that I knew contained at least some word I was using to search with. Isn't EN now supposed to be able to search everywhere inside a note for the word that is searched by the user?
  2. When home, I mostly use #EverNote on my desktop, sometimes it will not pull up my notes. Right now my #MainNoteBook, which has 55 notes in it, has a funny symbol beside it...maybe a download symbol??? And no notes are accessible. On the positive side, I can create new notes. I just cannot search notes. What is going on?
  3. I have a lot of pdf files with annotations from other pdf software, mainly adobe reader. While searching for text inside pdf files works great, searching for annotations doesn't work.
  4. When I'm searching for a document, it would make it a lot easier to find the right file, if you first can choose a tag and then search only in documents with that tag. Off course I can use the syntax 'tag:' for this. But then I need to know the exact name of the tag. It would be nicer (and quicker) when you first can choose a tag as a filter for searching only documents with that tag. That's how it works in the Android app and Desktop version of Evernote. But not in the web version. Kind regards, Peter Bulthuis
  5. As I'm standing in the store in front of the ink cartridges, I pulled up Evernote on my phone and searched for "ink." I got some article (not relevant). I KNOW I have the cartridges I need listed here! When I got to my desktop, I started to dig around and confirmed that my two devices on the basic plan are indeed desktop and phone. Check. On the desktop I typed "ink" and got some invoice (again, not relevant). Then I typed "ink cartridges" and YES, images of the packaging appear telling me what I need to buy. In the browser. I tried both searches. No results. On my phone. I tried both searches. No results. If I'm out shopping, I NEED it to be here. VERY disappointed in this. Does anyone know what version had a working search function, and how do I revert to it?
  6. For example, I would like to find some notes with a "@" in the title. So I used intitle:@ to search in Evernote. However, I did not get what I want: notes having @ in the title or not appears in the search result, which is obviously wrong. This has been admitted by Evernote support team as an issue. I just cannot help to complain for such inconvenience! You my wonder why I would like to search characters like @, - or | in my note title. This is because Evernote does not have the calendar integration function so I have to use the Event Noted (https://www.eventnoted.com) instead. However, I still would like to know which event has not been processed/scheduled searching the my notes. So I add some char like @ to my note title but I cannot find those due to this Evernote issue.
  7. Hi, How can I search thru multiple notebooks? Or... how can I search thru everything except two notebooks? I know it's possible to search with multiple tags (both in AND or OR operator), but I can't find it for nootbooks. Thanks
  8. Hi I just start use searching inside images that are attached to a note. However, I realized that sometimes I did a seach, it seems that EN finds the proper note, but it does not show the word it found. I realized that in the Evernote App for Android, it always shows the word if finds in the image. However, in the web app, it finds the note, but it does not shows the word inside the images. Is there a configuration that I need to set? Thanks in advance
  9. Please add an easy way to restrict a search domain to the notebooks in a stack.
  10. Hi! First, I like the new look very much The problem: I'm doing all of my Evernote searches straight from my Chrome address bar as well as from a few desktop applications (which fires up chrome and does the search via address bar). But all that broke with the new version, all I need is the new search url. Couldn't figure it out from the source code. This breaks my workflows a lot... The old adress used to be http://www.evernote.com/search?q=%s For those interested there's an old blogpost showing this: http://blog.evernote.com/blog/2010/02/17/searching-through-evernote-with-google-chrome/ Thanks, David
  11. Simple idea: I would like to be able to filter and search within the notes which I have created directly as text notes vs. those which came from web clipper. If it doesn't already exist, create an attribute for notes that says how they were created and allow searching/filtering by note type.
  12. Please add wildcard searches, even at the beginning of a search term. Searching for *eschäfts* should return Geschäftsführer At present it is impossible to add wildcards at the beginning of a searchterm. You can not search for *eschäftsführer You only can search for Geschäftsfüh* which will lead to the correct result Geschäftsführer Looking forward to this feature! Best regards from the north of Germany. Michael
  13. Dear community, I was wondering if it is possible to search only the text of the first page of a PDF file that is attached to a note. The reason for this is that many of my acadamic papers involve large amounts of words. If I do a search on a topic, for example "author name of a paper" and "2002" I get unlimited results as almost every paper in my acadamic field refers to each other. Most acadamic papers have the most important stuff on the first page (authors, title, abstract, journal, year of publication etcetera). Any tips on this? I tried searching the forum but could not find a similar topic. Kind regards, Joris Theunissen
  14. Windows client. 6.5.4.4720 Can we please get a fix to the search box (search within note) that doesn't compete with the horizontal scroll bar? When I search for text, and the window moves to the right because of the HTML formatting, I can't see the rest of the text of my notes.
  15. I have tags - Q1,Q2,Q3 and Q4. I would like to find any notes that do not have at least one of these tags. I have tried: any: -tag:Q1 -tag:Q2 -tag:Q3 - tag:Q4 but this doesn't work. I have tried same with -any: at the beginning. I have tried tag:-Q1 tag:-Q2 tag:-Q3 tag:-Q4 and with any: at the beginning. Grateful for any help. thanks
  16. It would be very useful if when I click into the search box to begin typing, it would automatically show the last 5 to 10 searches. I am inside Evernote Business all day and multitask on the extreme side. This feature is already in other primary programs and proves to be very useful there.
  17. Hello, I am ok in multiple languages and therefore read and save things in different languages. Sometimes one language has a better word for a specific thought and you mix up languages... (hope im not the only one who does this?) What I would love would be a search, that additional checks my notes for my query in different languages. That could be an optional. To narrow down the results the user should also define which languages one speaks and likes to search for in his profile. e.g. if you search for 'dog', it should show me notes with 'Hund' or 'Perro'. (english, german, spanish) I think you can build that easily based on your fuzzy image search. Would be a nice database ^^ Kind regards
  18. I believe I'm using the correct search operator to find specific information in a Title field but I just got 72 files with only 3 that contained the search string. The only way II found those three files, without scrolling all 72, was to sort them by Title. I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong!
  19. Hello! I am new to Evernote. Would someone answer a few questions? 1. Is there no ability to create a notebook cover? 2. Is there ability to organize notebooks that are in the stack? 3. What is this "deeper more powerful search" offered in the premium services and how exactly does the search differ using the plus service and the premium service? 4. In creating a notebook, I saw the ability to share it but there was no ability that I saw to make it private. Can I assume then, that it is private by default? 5. Is there no customization of paper in the notebooks? Thank you!
  20. I use well above 3.000 notes for academic purposes. Unfortunately, if you have a lot of notes, the standard search feature performs really bad (I am aware of th eadvanced search capabilities). At the moment it looks like it only checks notes for the search word and ranks them according to the last edit. This is not sufficient. When I create a note, for instance, I often link other notes to that note. When I search for the title of the note, I get all those notes where I added the link first, because that was the last edit. It would be great if there were better ranking functionalities like giving more weight to linked notes or keywords that appear in the title. Additionally I would highly appreciate if a search for "topics" would also come up with a note titled "topic". From a technical side: At the moment it looks like a simple boolean retrieval algorithm is implemented with a ranking by "last edit" It would be great if the title would receive a higher weight. Documents with higher term frequencies should also receive a higher weight. The same accounts for linked notes. One could make use of the hyperlink strucuter using "Hypertext-Induced Topic Search" or something similar to "PageRank". Search words are not lemmatized. If I have a note titled "topic" there is no way to find it using search word "topics". Some kind of context search functionality like "Latent Semantic Indexing" might also be useful .
  21. It would be amazing if there were a search option for content in titles. Content is much too broad and way too many notes come up when I search for something that has the word in the title. It would be SO helpful to be able to narrow the search to titles alone. What's more, I suspect there are other folks like myself who do not have the time to tag notes and instead have a practice of creating titles with possible search words for the note. It is good to be able to bring up every note that mentions a word, but also necessary to just pull up the relevant ones.
  22. It's seems like most modern applications provide the ability to sequentially click through the search results to help identify the hit your are looking for. For example, if I want to find a note that included the word Apple in it, but perhaps I use the word Apple frequently - including multiple times within the same note, it can be very difficult to find the Apple I am looking for (perhaps I want to find the 3rd instance of the word apple within a large note because that's where I mentioned someone's name I am trying to recall). Attached is a simple example of how a Google Doc/Sheet serves up search results, with a simple up/down button that allows you to scroll through each hit sequentially. My feature request is for Evernote to add this sequential searching capability upon search hits.
  23. Hi, I know it's as designed that selecting a parent tag doesn't include notes that only have a child tag applied to it. However, I would really like this feature. I don't mind if it's a setting that should be set in the preferences or something like that, but it would make some things really a lot easier. Thanks, Tom
  24. I am constantly frustrated by consistent failed search results. For example, I just tried searching [Title:Bert] (with and without a space) and got nothing. I then entered [Bert] and got a list of results, only one of which included Bert in the Title field. Assuming that "Bert" might appear somewhere it the unrelated notes I checked and found words that contained bert, as in bertram. So I put added quotes to the search string and that removed words that contained "Bert" But I am still baffled by the "0" results in the [Title:bert] result.
  25. I request a keyboard shortcut to search intitle. Currently I must type: 'intitle:' before most of my searches to get to Notes i specifically titled so I could find them lol. EG: I make a note called: work, & tagged: work. I search: work Other notes containing 'work' in their body appear before the one titled & tagged with 'work'. - I would prefer tagged/titled first if that makes sense? For now this dirty ahk does the trick to search titles (just made it, sorry if not working well for you) but it's not perfect and surely other people search titles?: !^e:: send, #+f SetTitleMatchMode, 2 WinWaitActive, - Evernote, , 2 sendinput, intitle: return
