  1. When I make a search on android phone, the results are highlighted in the notes, but when i search on my mac, there is no highlight... is this on purpose or did I miss smth ?
  2. Up to ver 6.5.4 searching was wonderful! entering a search term in the search box at the top of the notes stack, would list the notes that contained the search terms. clicking on a note would display the note ** and slide down the note to the location of the 1st instance of the search term **. Then the next version came out. Since then, the search merely displays the note, but the slider remains at the top of the page. A "profile setting" would be good. this way mobile phones would scroll around... but desktops, laptops, tables would be free to do so. Please restore this functionality. I've installed each update since then, only to uninstall them and re-install 6.5.4.
  3. I think it would be great to have the ability to exclude specific notebooks from search strings. I realise tags can be excluded but this is only partially helpful.
  4. I have used "search and replace" many times for searching html and replacing some of the texts and tags etc. But now anything I copy into the search bar is replaced with coded signs for " and > and other signs. What happened? Can I change a setting to get it back? For example I want to search for this in my text note: <script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> But when I paste it in the search field it says: &lt;script async src=&quot;//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js&quot; charset=&quot;utf-8&quot;&gt;&lt;/script&gt; so of course the search does not work! :-/ UPDATE: PC/Windows user. Used to work on the same platform, but since last update this happened.
  5. Hi. I'd like to be able to filter out notes based on tags. For example if I tagged notes I've read with "#read" it would be nice to filter out those to see which notes I haven't read. Thanks!
  6. The search function does show the matching notes in the results, but it does not show the section where the first matching word exists in the actual note. When I click the result, it used to show the section of the first matching word in the note, but it is not working now and I have to search again inside the note in order to show the matching section. I tried database optimization, re-indexing, and re-installing Evernote, but none worked. My current Evernote version is 6.10.3.6921 (306921) Public (CE Build ce-1.39.4387). Is this the way the search function is supposed to work in the latest versions?
  7. When I'm in the Search notes mode of Evernote Desktop for Windows 10, I now have to scroll a little for the note to refresh. Just now, the contents of one note was copied into an old note, completely replacing the contents. This dumping was without warning, as though the scrolling mixed up the contents. Does anybody see this problem? Using Evernote 6.9.7.6770 (306770) Public (CE Build ce-1.39.4387)
  8. Hi. I would like to request a new search syntax:-notebook:”name”It would be very useful to be able to use the negation feature for an entire notebook to allow searches across all unspecified notebooks when searching in All Notes. For example:-notebook:”article notebook” photography would find all notes containing “photography” across all notebooks except the specified article notebook
  9. The old version of EvernoteWeb could help in search when I wanted to search with more tags and words. I have a lot of tag, and I miss the tag autocomplete function. It is very annoying that I have to type everything (and correctly!) each time, like: tag:bar tag:"multiple words tag" foo text Please (re)add autocomplete function when I type "tag:" in the search field to help and speed up searching.
  10. Hi, Suddenly about a week ago the EN search on my Mac (OSX Yosemite) essentially lost all capability. Searching for any term, even if I had used it in 100's of notes or the latest note, returned nothing or just a couple of hits. I updated EN (which required updating to OS X High Sierra) hoping that would solve the problem, but unfortunately it hasn't. Strangely search does now partially work. For some search terms it appears to work fine while for the majority I get no notes after 2014, even if very recent notes contain the search term. Frustratingly search continues to work fine on my Android EN version on my phone. Needless to say without a working search I will have to change platforms - and soon - as I use EN as a replacement memory device and if I can't access information it is basically gone. Any suggestions? Can I force a reindexing of the search? Thanks!
  11. Hi. When I am navigating through the results of a search it's very difficult to know where the note is exactly stored. This feature would add an option to go to the note location in a folder. It's simple, but can help me a lot organising my notes. Often I find that I create similar notes in different folders. Simplicity is key!
  12. It would be nice to be able to collapse the stacks in search mode. I use search mode for quick notebook swaps because it takes up minimal screen space when taking notes. Currently other stacks take up plenty of space when they aren't being used in this mode. When I write notes in EN I enjoy having both the list of notes open as well as the smallest possible way to switch to a different notebook. I usually have a lecture opened to the left and EN on the right for a given screen. For this reason, I collapse the Left Panel, where you can collapse stacks and jump between notebooks.
  13. When I run a Saved Search notebook:"NutrUp (NUP)" tag:Workflow-Backlog Evernote returns an empty list as shown below: But if I change the field 'searching in' from 'in your notebooks' to 'NutrUp (NUP)' it correctly returns the notes with the searched tag: What is the explanation for this behavior? Is it a feature, an error or something I've misunderstood?
  14. When using the Web Clipper, there is a "bookmark" option. Once I've clipped a bunch of bookmarks, is there a way to see a list of just those bookmarks, or search just within those bookmarks? We can search tag:tagname or notebook:notebookname or created:date etc.' but is there a search parameter for clipping type, whether article, simplified article, full page, bookmark, screenshot? Anticipating a non-ideal answer, I've read that some people just create a tag called "bookmark" or "bookmarks" which I have also done but, if a tag is required to pull these all together, is there any real point to the clipping type? On the flip side, it's cool that I can clip an entire article or page, and still tag it as a bookmark, making for richer searchable content. But, I digress. Back to the question at and, if anyone would be so kind as to field. Thanks.
  15. Hi i am new to Evernote i have the following structure for when my tasks are do .When 1-Today 2-Next 3-Soon 4-Later 5-Someday i also have a tag completed how do i create a search that enables me to do the following 1-Today or 2-Next or 3-Soon or 4-Later or 5-Someday and none of these should have the tag completed thank you so much -Ethan
  16. I'd like a UI element to Clear All Search criteria. On a Windows PC, I have a "click to clear search" that removes search words, but leaves the tags. This then requires that each tag's 'x' be clicked to remove it, also. I think 'clear search' used to clear everything, but not sure. It used to be considered good UI design to provide menu options for UI buttons - this allows people who are good typists [not me] to run the app w/o reaching for the mouse. The 'clear search' only exists as a clickable UI element.
  17. One of the most confusing aspects of EN, for me, is the search function, it just doesn't get me the results I expect! I find myself wasting a lot of time and often end up with irrelevant results or getting too many results, that I then have to search through. When I found a "search" You-tube Video in the EV Channel that I'm subscribed to it was for Mac users and when Francesco D'Alessio clicked inside the search field he got a raft of drop-down options to select from, options that narrowed his search; including "recent searches". In Windows, I don't get anything at all when I click the empty search field! The Mac interface seems to display everything I'd need to find what I'm looking for quickly while the Window interface often leaves me with little or no help. Before posting this I "searched" for a youtube search video for Windows and found one, but it was nowhere near as good as Francesco's and it didn't have anything close to the options he got when he clicked the search field on his Mac.
  18. I'm a researcher and use Evernote to collect and organize my field notes. I find the inability to combine different search operators quite limiting. For instance, Evernote currently has not way to find notes within a particular Notebook that have the tag "A" AND (tag "B" OR tag "C") but NOT tag "D". I would love to see Evernote add an Advanced Search feature similar to Google's that would allow users to perform this type of multiple operator search. https://www.google.com/advanced_search
  19. This probably sounds basic, but is this happening to anyone else? I haven't been able to actually search for specific things from all of my notes for a long time, I can only create a search for the content within an individual notes. I.e. If I'm looking for a note title "Content Distribution" from 2 months ago, I cannot search for that. It will only search for that info in the note that's currently open. My colleague just downloaded evernote for the first time and her search works fine. I tried deleting and re-downloading and it didn't work. Any help is super appreciated, thanks
  20. How do you search for notes clipped from particular websites? It used to be that if i wanted to find all notes clipped from, say, evernote.com, I could input: sourceURL:http://www.evernote.com/* and everything clipped from that website would come up. That feature has not worked for me for a few months now, and it is really annoying. I have tried miscelaneous variants of that and those havent worked, and i have tried looking online for the answer and the only thing i see is to use the search term i was already using. How does one conduct that search nowadays? Any help is really appreciated, even if the answer seems really obvious! Thank you
  21. A bug in Evernote causes it to return inconsistent search results across supported platforms. The bug has existed for years. Evernote knows about it, but can't or won't squash it. Evernote users, particularly new users, need to be warned of the bug.
  22. What is the correct way to create a search for notes tagged with several tags? I would to view only the notes tagged with these three tags together. Thank you
  23. Greg Brodsky Jan 26, 09:24 PST Hi team, I wanted to give you feedback that the way you have modified search is actually slowing me down within Evernote. When I enter search terms, the search box it now defaults to a search within that note book. notebook: (notebook:Finance will only search for notes within the 'Finance' notebook.) . However it really slows me down because I often use search to navigate, and now I have to delete the notebook before I can search for what I want. (also sometimes I think a note is gone, when really it just isnt in that notebook). I appreciate what you were trying to do defaulting a search to within a notebook, but it is really ***** a lot of us up. If search were slow, then we would want to search within a default notebook, but its not slow. So please provide an easier way to turn that default notebook on or off within the settings. thanks Greg Brodsky (premium plan and long time user) gregbrodsky@gmail.com
  24. This may not be news to power users, but I just discovered that Evernote will add tags from my search to a new note! If I put this into my search box: tag:MyTag The results show all notes tagged MyTag. If I do not clear the search box, but immediately click the New Note icon, Evernote opens a new, blank note in my default notebook. The MyTag tag is added! Is there a list of other neat tricks like this? I wonder what other time-savers I've never seen. Cheers, Mitch
  25. I know certain strings exist in my notes, and yet when using the search box they are not found. What changed? This used to work. And, confusing yet, is that instead of showing no results when the string is not found, it still shows a list of notes.
