  1. It seems that every time I search, my Inbox is highlighted. I keep my inbox pretty empty so my search is useless. When I click All Notebooks, the search box empties. I would love for the search box to stay filled until I x out the search value.
  2. Wait wait wait, are you telling me that Evernote can index handwritten text in scanned documents, but that it doesn't index text encoded in bog-standard office files? Really? I am managing a community project in which I receive reports from volunteers in a variety of formats - on paper, in the body of emails, and as attached files of various kinds, but mostly MS Word documents. I had hoped to dump everything into an Evernote notebook in order to be able to search across the entire archive of reports. A classic Evernote use case, no? Well, apparently not. I've read comments from Dave on this issue to the effect that the variety of formats makes this complex... parsing... But we've all been used to 'searching inside files' on our desktop PCs for decades, so this just seems weird. Have I missed or misunderstood something? Or should I redesign my workflow to include writing out the content of Word reports by hand and then scanning the handwritten documents into Evernote as searchable PDFs?
  3. Hi, everyone: I've been trying to find the answer to my question for a while now by reading the forums and searching google, and I've given up. Here's my question: Is it possible to search notes and exclude the images/pdfs that are part of the note? I want to search only the text I have entered or cut and pasted as regular text. I have a lot of handwritten parish records in French (mostly png files from clipping), and when I search certain words, I get dozens of useless hits in these documents (these are sloppily written in most cases, and the text recognition is trying too hard!). Can this be done? I hope so! Thanks in advance! Sue
  4. Hello, I would like to know how to search notes only with no tag exclusively from ones with tags. Due to near shutdown of Google Notebook, I just started moving my notebooks to Evernote. The Evernote feature of importing Atom .xml file from Google Notebook really helps here. On Google Notebook, I have the notes what are not categorized to under any section header in each notebook of mine. (I might say that I have meant that such notes were categorized to the root section of each notebook in my use of Google Notebook.) Evernote seems to interpret the section header as tag for importing from Google Notebook. Hence, I assume that those notes do not have a tag added via the import process. And I'm puzzling how to get the list of only notes without a tag in each notebook on Evernote after import. Sincerely, Art
  5. I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this topic, but I thought you should know that when you do an Advanced Search across all forums, the Search Results show the user who make the last post to each topic. The avatars and user don't match. No big deal. As long as the Search results are correct I can live with it until you have a chance to fix it.
