  1. besides all these missing features and UI glitches I finally have an even more disappointing issue. It's within a notebook shared to me. There are two notes tagged with "Presse" and "2017". on V7: If I use the tag filter and select "Presse" I see some notes, after selecting the tag "2017" I see two notes. That's correct on V10: if I use the tag filter and select "Presse" I see some notes, after selecting the tag "2017" I don't see any note. If I modify (e. g. change note title) one of these two notes using V10 then the Tag filter process works with that one note. If I modiy the second note than this note is shown as well after applying my two-step Tag filter. Seems the new version / search engine / tag filter doesn't know these two files until I change them. It is so boring to run into so many issues with this new version - I really give up now - unfortunately I already upgraded to V10 on one of my iOS devices. The remaining ones will stick on V8 and on Mac I keep V7 alive as long as possible. I don't have time to report all those issues - I pay for a tool and don't get paid to report all these issues
  2. When I search for a note and find the note I am looking for and click on it, it appears in the main Evernote window, with no notebook list view visible. The note takes up 2/3 of the screen. This view is undesirable. I want to open the note in its own window. But there is not an option for that. So at least I want to view the notebook list next to the note, so I click on the notebook name at the top middle of the screen. It opens up the notebook alright. But now the note has disappeared -- it is replaced with whatever happens to be the first (most recent) note in the notebook. I could go and hunt for the note in the list of notes, but that is why such things as search bars exist.
  3. Hi. I'm using the Evernote for Mac app (Not downloaded from App store, but from the EN site itself). The version is 7.14. My search no longer works. For example: Searching for the work 'gift' to find my 'Holiday Gift Ideas' note, returns a note with a .pdf document containing an Appraisal I recently had done on my home. ...That's it. Maybe it contains the word 'gift' but it's certainly not the only note out of my thousands that does. Search works fine on the web: A query for 'gift' returns 66 results. Rebooting didn't help. Reinstalling didn't help. I did a bit of Googling and there seems to have been a menu item, in the past, to rebuild search indices for the desktop app. I can't find that in my menu now though so I assume it has been removed. Is there a way to force a rebuild of search indices on my local machine?
  4. On my Mail Client i use the Filter Function to group Mails to find recent Mails Quicker. Tags and Notebooks are the big Picture, but my Evernote fills up very quick and sometimes its hard to get back to a newer Note which hasn't found its Way to get tagged or booked yet As Evernote saves creation Dates (probably changes Dates) of Notes, it would be great to have a Search Tool that creates Ranges like "today", "this Week", "last two Weeks", "this Month" and so on. Then going on with further searching within the given Range. (please let me know if this is already possible by entering a Strange Code to the search field ) Breaking up the whole Bunch into smaller Ranges makes it much easier to organize newly arrived Notes
  5. As a power user, I should be able to turn off this stop words feature - I should be able to use "and then reply back" kinda match-all keywords.
  6. I tried a couple of searches this morning in different forums - the result is always Windows 10 64bit and Chrome - haven't tried another browser or reloading / restarting anything yet.
  7. Hi All, In the past, we’ve seen reports from users that they are unable to search for PDF’s via Evernote for Mac. If you are encountering issues with searching notes/content from within Evernote, or with search via Spotlight, please see the following article: If you are encountering issues with searching PDF’s for Mac, please try the following to troubleshoot the issue: Should the PDF files be searchable? Remember, with Evernote, you can search PDFs created from: Scanned documents Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, or other office and word processing applications (Evernote Premium and Business only) Also, in order for the search function to work properly, make sure that your PDF file meets the following requirements: Scanned PDFs with clear, typed text (handwriting is not searchable inside PDFs) PDFs that do not already contain text that you can select or copy PDFs with at least one page with a small image (1025 pixels of image data) PDFs less than 100 pages long PDFs less than 25 MB in size PDFs that are not password-protected PDFs that are not corrupted or unreadable Troubleshooting: If scanned PDFs are not appearing in your search results Sync Evernote. It can take up to 4 hours for Evernote to recognize text in newly attached PDFs. If you're encountering sync errors, check here for troubleshooting suggestions. Note: If you are working with a local notebook, PDFs inside that notebook are not synced and will not be searchable. Move the note into a synced notebook. Search Evernote for a specific word you know is inside the scanned PDF. If the word isn't found, the file is not indexed for search. Open the PDF in Adobe Reader or your PDF viewer and try selecting text in the file. If the text is selectable, it should show up in Evernote search. If text is not selectable, your PDF is probably scanned images and you need Evernote Premium for the text to be recognized. If the PDF file meets the file requirements, and the troubleshooting steps listed above did help to resolve the issue, please do the following in order to force the PDF to be re-OCRed by our system, and hopefully fix the problem: Right click (Control + Mouse click) on the PDF inside the note Open with... > Text Edit Add a new blank line to the bottom of the PDF Save and close Sync Evernote and try searching again Following the steps above will trigger the OCR engine to rescan the document for OCRing. However, If none of these suggestions help, please contact us. It's helpful to include the following in your ticket submission: A copy of your activity log A copy of the PDF file A description of what is happening A list of all the steps you took before you contacted Evernote Support
  8. Hi guys, great web interface update! however when moving notes there's suddenly no way of searching for notebooks, but instead i have to scroll through hundreds of notebooks to find the right one for ever note. (if im not missing something obvious) Please add the search box back in, in the move dialogue. Also if there is a way to be able to select and move multiple notes in one go that would be something long awaited. i was hoping that would be implemented by now but it doesn't seem to be. thanks David
  9. Evernote 7.4 on macOS 10.13.6 ... I've been using Evernote for over 10 years. Something broke with Search in the latest upgrade. I type in a keyword, and Search says "No notes found." But I know there ARE notes with that keyword. I'm attaching a screenshot with an example. I typed "tahini dressing," and at the top it says: Found notes with rosemary tahini dressing, white bean kale salad with tahini dressing, roasted carrot lentil salad with tahini dressing and curry-roasted fennel salad with rosemary tahini dressing but in the note list area, it says "No notes found." Even when I click on one of the "found notes" result, I still get "No notes found."
  10. I know that Web clipper supports Google for suggestions from Evernote when searching the web, but I was wondering if it supports other search engines as DuckDuckGo. I recently switched to it due to privacy concerns, and I wish I could have that convenience of searching evernote too while doing web searches from DuckDuckGo
  11. iPhone 8 iOS 11.31 / EN 8.12 Searching in ALL NOTES returns zero results. If i go back to the actual Notebook where the note is stored, a SEARCH IN "NOTEBOOK", it will return the correct result(s). it works fine on my iPad 11.3.1 / 8.12 it works fine on my Mac. 10.13.4 / 7.1.1 (Yes I did see there was an iOS update)
  12. When adding tags to a note on Evernote for Mac, a list of matching tags populate a dropdown that narrow as you type. On the iOS app, all partial matches are shown, whereas on Mac and Web clients, the matching tags are only by start of text match. I would prefer partial match across all clients for consistency and easier tag adding.
  13. I have a notebook with 1850 relatively large notes. Entering search argument in search field bogs down to a crawl after three characters are entered
  14. When inputting a argument into the search field, search commences before complete argument is input. For notebooks that have many notes (in my notebook that number is over 1,800) this slows down entry to a crawl. My workaround is to create the entire search outside of Evernote and then "cut and paste" the entire search argument into the search field. What is needed is a setting that would hold back invoking the search until the entire argument is input and the user leaves the field or presses Enter.
  15. I greatly appreciate the expanded suggested search terms displayed in the search info dialog box. In the Windows client, the text in the Search Info isn't selectable. I've been screen-clipping them. Consider the option to select <Search Info Note> from within the Search Info box and have a new note generated detailing the valuable information returned during these searches that helps document the thought process as well as Evernote's contributions to that process.... Best regards,
  16. Oh my search tags are missing. My Internet has been out so I spent some time off-line setting up tags in Evernote and then tagging all my notes. I went out today and connected to Wi-Fi in my car and didn’t think about it if yours later I tried to make a note and add some tags and all the tags are missing. Not only that, some of the notes I tagged we’re missing also. Oh my search tags are missing. 17. Can Evernote (Web) improve the tag search function, such as multi tag search allowed? Because it does not allow to create multi branch under an notebook, it just allow to make multi tag of the note for categorization! How can find if there are thousands of notes under an notebook. Raindrop.io, DIIGO also has such function. So, please kindly consider that.
  18. When I type in the first few characters of an existing folder (to tell Evernote where to file a note), and I type in lower case looking for a folder, folder names beginning with an uppercase letter don't show up. Say I'm saving an article to my Marketing folder. If I type in marketing, Evernote tells me I don't have a folder with that name. Feels like 1998 instead of 2018. Fix it.
  19. I’m trying to find a good notes app that would work with general search in Emui 8 by Huawei, it is a search bar that pops when you swipe down. In the settings it says that Evernote should work , but at least with the basic subscription it doesnt. Could anyone confirm that it works with premium subscription or how else could I make it to work? thanks a lot!
  20. Steps to reproduce: Search for a keyword with the search bar (do not delete the search term afterwards) Open a note containing it and start editing it Once you delete the sentence containing the term, the list of notes containing the term is refreshed and the note you were writing in is gone This is annoying as it interrupted my editing. Please make it so it does not close the note you are actively writing it.
  21. Hi, I would like to кnow if there is an option to change the search priority of Evernote? For example when I search for "dog" I would expect on the top of the search results to see: first notes with "dog" in their titles than the ones with "dog" in tags "dog" in text and the most opened notes "dog" with most recently updated notes other "dog" Quite often I put some key words in the title of my notes. And in order to find them quickly I type "intitle: dog". Yet, this just slows me down and not very fast to type in on your phone for example. If I don't use "intitle" the search engine of Evernote is putting the note witch has "dog" in the title some where down the list. Thank you, Emil
  22. The search feature appears to be fairly flakey, often not including notes that definitely have the tags that are in the search. Immediately verifiable by visiting the note directly straight after the search. Steps to reproduce are a waste if time as it is not specific just occasionally but undoubtedly happens. Especially occurs after a recent note created, maybe search results are not being refreshed. Is this a known problem? Is there a workaround / recommended method of use to mitigate? Should we just never trust the search feature and so essentially not use it?
  23. Hi, I have the professional membership of Evernote. Could you restore the function that can search notebook in the "web clipper"? I think it's waste a lot of time to pull down menu when we without that function.
  24. I want Evernote to maintain a search index of my pdfs even when some of them are stored elsewhere. Evernote already makes the pdf searchable; I just want it to keep that information after I save the pdf elsewhere and create a link to it. Why? The windows exb database file gets too large and unwieldy on Windows, and I'm guessing that is partly because it includes all attachments. I don't need all my pdfs to be "in evernote" - in fact I would prefer to leave them in google drive or somewhere else if it could help reduce my database size. I keep them in Evernote because of the search functionality - that is all I need from Evernote. How it might work? In an ideal world, I could point Evernote to a folder where I store all my woodworking pdfs (laptop or google drive), it could create a note for each one with a link to the pdf, and voila - I search for "bunk beds" and Evernote lists all relevant notes, including those that have the link to the attachment. I would be happy even if I had to manually create a note, enter pdf, have evernote do its search indexing, save the pdf elsewhere, add the link to it in the note, then remove the pdf from Evernote. As long as I got to keep the search information. Workarounds? There are workarounds, including using a separate account for the pdfs and sharing a folder, but they are workarounds and come with their own difficulties. But this is a wishlist item, and as such, I wish Evernote could save its search index for attachments I want to keep but don't want to keep within Evernote.
  25. One of the biggest advantages of Evernote is its note-optimized database. Because of that, I can find notes a lot easier than searching through a bunch of Word documents. Still, the search results could be better improved if displayed more in a browser-search-results-like-fashion. While notes can be quickly opened, some searches give many results and it can take time to open each one to find what you are looking for. Quick retrieval is one of the big benefits to the tool and effort should continue focusing on making this a killer feature.
