  1. I am trying to get scanned documents in searchable PDF format from Scansnap directly into an Evernote local inbox notebook. This needs to be local as the documents are highly confidential and I cannot run the risk of someone hacking into them on the cloud, even if I only leave them in a sync'd notebook for a few hours, before I move them into their local noteook destination. I cannot seem to discover the correct pathway to get documents directly into a local notebook. Every time I send the documents to Evernote, they end up in a sync'd default notebook since I cannot make a local notebook a default notebook. Can anyone please help me? I am a free user but I would be quite happy to upgrade to premium if this would help.

  3. When I scan business cards on ScanSnap, 50% of the time ti works fine, but the other 50% of the time the scanned card is "locked" and I get "This note was created in another application. To edit this note, open in the app it was created ." message. How can I remove this lock? Thank you very much for your help!!
  4. We ordered a new Scanner when Evernote tech support and I determined the first one we got wouldn't connect wirelessly. New scanner has exact same issue. Scanner works fine via USB. Whne it connects to our network it then becomes invisible to my Macbook. Only works connected. Scansnap application keeps shutting itself down once scanner is connected to the network. Nice bright green light with an active good IP. When I run diag, application says connection to the wan is fine. I ran through all of the usual install, un-install, stood on my head, aluminum foil hats and cursing but none of those worked. Is it possible that the scanner just isn't going to work wirelessly with my computer? BTW OSX 10.8.5
  5. Very frustrating. This machine has had Evernote installed and working beautifully. No problems. Latest version (5.6.4.4632). Yesterday received ScanSnap Evernote Edition. Installed software before plugging in Scanner. Every launch of Evernote now fails: 1. Launch Evernote 2. Go through "Welcome to ScanSnap Evernote Edition" (every time) (proceed through wizard) 3. Click "Get Started" 4. Receive "Fatal error" dialog with offer to send debug log to Evernote. Steps to try to fix: A. Emptied temp directory B. Uninstall Evernote C. Reinstall Evernote (same problems) Log file is attached. Debug log (from DebugView) also attached (doesn't say much useful). 6. I posted the following message in another thread several months ago and received no replies. I'm posting it again here in hopes that someone else may have experienced this problem and figured out a solution for it. I had hoped that updates to the software would improve this situation, but it has not. I still get a consistent shift toward red with scans of images, especially black and white images, but also color images. Here's the previous post with a little more detail: I have an SSEE that is physically connected to a MacMini running the Mavericks OS. In general it works well, but I have three problems to report: 1. In automatic mode it detects black and white photos as documents and files them in the document folder as a PDF scan. 2. If I pre-select "photos" in the setup before the scan, it will scan BW photos as photos but scans them as color photos and sometimes -- but not always -- makes some very funky color substitutions. For instance, the white siding on a house is turned into an off-color pink. If I let it mis-classify one of the problem BW photos as a document and scan it to a PDF file the same color problems occur. This leads me to believe that the problem is in the scanner firmware itself. 3. Color photos also in some instances evidence some weird color shifts. For instance, a child standing in front of a building with dark wood siding ends up having his natural skin tone replaced with a "reddish" tint and the wood has red streaks through it. The scan of documents and receipts works well and the auto detection is fairly good. However, receipts that are larger than register receipts are almost always misclassified as documents. OCR of documents works fine. I'm wondering if some of these problems are known and will be corrected in the upcoming firmware update -- hopefully soon. Thanks. Carl
  7. My Scansnap 1300 recently died. As it is indispensable I immediately bought a new one (the 1300 i) from Amazon. All is now the same as before except that the scanner software converts the PDF to searchable PDF, which did not occur before. This is OK, except that it takes a bit of time and I generally have a lot of scanning to do. If I turn off the 'Convert to searchable PDF' option will the conversion occur on the Evernote servers? The PDFs that I scanned on the old scansnap all ended up as searchable, without this local step. - Tim
  8. Jackolicious (below) says "SSEE comes with hardware OCR." What does "hardware OCR" mean in this context? Does ScanSnap EE come with "hardware OCR" capabilities that the ScanSnap iX500 does not? https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/43257-scansnap-evernote-edition/page-7#entry244058
  9. I am using a Scansnap S1300 and Windows 7. In the taskbar, the Scansnap Manager icon is crossed out (has a line through it). This happens frequently, even though my Scansnap is turned on, plugged in, and recognized by my computer. I have to restart my computer and then the Scansnap icon is not crossed out and I can use my Scansnap. Then, after a while, it will become crossed out and unavailable once again until I restart my computer. Any ideas on how I can make my Scansnap available for use without having to restart my computer? Thanks, Todd
  10. My first forum so I hope I get this right. I've scanned a document using ScanSnap 1500 (highly recommend this scanner!), the ScanSnap Manager is set to Scan to Evernote pdf. The scan is automatically saved using a file name format "untitled 001.pdf". 1) ScanSnap does not allow me to change the "untitled 001" name. Whereas when I set Scan Mgr to "scan to folder" the program pauses after the scan and allows me to change the name and it would be saved under the changed file name. When I look on the hard drive I see this name the I entered. Likewise, Is there a setting in Evernote pdf that will pause the scanner and allow me to change the file name before it is save in the EN cabinet. 2) As noted above when I scan a document the file appears in my EN notebook as "untitled001" on the Subject Line. When I change the name in EN here, I do not see any corresponding change to the original file that was scanned. So my question is how can I find the actual pdf's that is used in EN? Is EN actually making a separate copy of each pdf? If EN were ever to crash will se be able to see the pdf's.
  11. I recently purchased a ScanSnap S1300 scanner. I've been pretty happy with it so far but I've found the profile setup to be really finnicky and confusing. The result is that it usually takes me 2 tries to get something to scan successfully and to go where I want it to go! I tried out of the gate to have just a couple of profiles; one for Evernote and one for scanning to a file on my desktop. This worked for the most part, but I had the duplex scanning turned on and I found the "automatic page removal" didn't work so well. Problems would often arise when scanning a document that I had scribbled on or that had a minor mark somewhere on the back. Instead of one page I'd get the page I wanted and a page with my one note scratch on the back. I now have several profiles setup (Evernote Single Sided PDF, Evernote Double Sided PDF, Evernote Single Sided Image, Evernote Double Sided Image etc etc etc). Am I missing something here? I'm also confused by the fact the scanner creates a file somewhere, even if you set it to scan to Evernote. I'm a pretty tech-savvy guy. In fact, I'm a computer programmer. Something about this software just confuses me though. And why do I even need to scan anything "directly to Evernote?" If it's going to create a file somewhere anyway, why not just scan to file in the "automatically add to evernote" folder you can setup in the EN software?
  12. I can get the wifi to work on my Scansnap Evernote edition software and scanner. Followed the instructions, used the wifi set-up tool and everything seemed to work. When I unplugged the USB cord, the wifi stopped.
  13. I am new to both Evernote and Scansnap and trying to make sure I get started correctly as I prepare to scan all my documents into Evernote. Goal for me, as many others, is to finally relieve my office of clutter which consists of piles of documents. I am using a Mac and SnapScan S1300i. 1. I've read from different sources that I should turn off (uncheck) the option under ScanSnap to "Convert to Searchable PDF" since Evernote will do this automatically in the backend. Some sources say I should have this option turned on. Which is correct? 2. I am assuming that for speed sake, I will be scanning in different documents at the same time in a single batch. If I choose "Scan to Evernote (Documents)", it seems to create a single PDF containing all the different documents. Scanning in the next batch creates another PDF with multiple documents. Is this how Evernote/ScanSnap works? I guess I was expecting to be able to go through a process separate documents once scanned in. Is this not the case? Thank you. Please let me know if I need to clarify my questions since I'm eager to get this started. David
  14. I realize this isn't specifically an EN issue but thought I'd try... My ScanSnap ix500 has stopped scanning multiple page documents to a single PDF in EN. It brings them in to EN as separate PDFs despite my selecting "whole batch in one PDF" option. It used to work. I've updated the software, firmware etc to no avail. Any thoughts?
  15. I am looking for a true one-touch, scan-to-Evernote solution. I just bought the highly rated ScanSnap ix500 which I though had one touch scanning, but it is actually two touch scanning. After loading you docs you have to: 1. Push the scan button on your computer 2. After the scan finishes, you have to select the destination for the scan. I want to get rid of part 2. As far as I can tell, there is no way to have the Scansnap scan to Evernote by default. Has any one found a way to scan directly to Evernote without using the quick menu? I looked at other hardware solutions (mostly mulitfunction printers) which can scan to email (and thus to Evernote), but they required 6-9 button pushes on the scanner, though no software interaction was necessary on the computer. Any ideas how to solve this problem?
  16. I've randomly started having a weird issue when using my Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500M with Evernote. I use the scan direct to evernote functionality, and scan double sided, colour PDFs with multipage as a singe file. ScanSnap saves the PDF in my iMac folder as a single PDF with multi pages but when it's automatically imported into Evernote each page has its own note. Previously I had no issue with this, and no settings have changed. The radio button selecting multipage PDF is correctly selected. If I manually import the scanned PDF files from the folder on my iMac, they create as a single note with multiple pages. Any ideas what I might have wrong here? Thanks Andy
  17. Hello, I am using a Mac and a ScanSnap S1500 and all works great except when I try and create a profile to scan to a specific folder. What happens is a dialogue box always comes up when it is finished scanning and OCR has taken place and wants me to rename my file and select a folder to put it in. I DO NOT want to do this but simply scan to that particular folder. Wonder if someone can help me trouble shoot this issue? Many thanks, Cliff
  18. Fujitsu ScanSnap Manager for my s1300i has stopped recognizing that Evernote for Mac is installed. It reports that it can't find or install EN, even though it's already running. This happens when I try to select either of the two Evernote icons (pdf or jpg). The other menu items seem to work--e.g., I can still save to Google or to a folder, and it can still save as an OCR-enabled PDF. So I can still drag them to Evernote after scanning to a folder. But those two Evernote icons just stopped working. I emailed EN, and the person replied that they only support the new ScanSnap for Evernote machine, and that I should just try uninstalling and reinstalling Evernote--other than that, sorry, can't help you. This seems to have happened approximately when I upgraded my OS to Mavericks; but I'm not sure it was exactly then. But the problem appeared on two different Macs at almost the same time; so I wonder if it's a problem with the OS. This is disappointing, since I think I've seen a number of people on various blogs complaining about a similar problem. I'd think that if Evernote wants to be seen as working well with a scanner, they'd try to support such a popular one. Also it's frustrating because it DID work, and suddenly stopped. Any suggestions?
  19. Is there a way to reset the default notebooks for documents, photos, etc from the ScanSnap Manager? I've decided to change the default notebooks but can't find a spot to do that.
  20. I have the Evernote Scansnap. Running Mac 10.9 OSX. Wireless connection sets up according to instruction. When I remove the USB cable, as instructed, and scan wirelessly for the first time, the wireless connection is lost every time. Help!
  21. Hi! Just read the release notes of the new version and am/was excited about "ScanSnap Evernote Edition Scanner Support". Unfortunately it seems it is really only the Evernote Edition as all options are greyed out for my ScanSnap S1100. Is the scanner support only for the Evernote Edition? What a pity … Thanks, Mike
  22. Just received my brand-new ScanSnap for Evernote. Here are two issues so far. Scanning in a one-page letter I want to email to a customer. ScanSnap is apparently so powerful that when it scans the blank reverse side of the letter it creates a faded, reverse ghost image of the front. Now I have a two-page pdf document. I want to delete the second page before I email it, and to export it to Adobe Acrobat to delete that page defeats the whole purpose of having the efficiency of a $500 scanner. Example of the scanned letter is attached. Second issue, if I load a multi-page document facing forward, it saves the pdf in reverse page order. Is there a way to reverse the order of the pages? In this instance I just deleted the scan, reloaded facing the other way and it's fine. I wondered if this is an issue with a pile of multiple type docs - receipts, business cards, letters. and for extra credit, when I unplug the usb cord the ScanSnap loses the wireless connection and forgets the password. Is this wireless scanner really not wireless? Evernote's premium support chat is a mess this morning - over an hour waiting, then it told me at 11am central time they were now closed for the day and booted me off. Karl sample.pdf
  23. Hi all, I've been reading various threads on the scanners people recommend with Evernote and drawn towards the Fujitsu ix500 for my needs particularly with the promotion it offers as it negates the premium of going with a cheaper scanner. On the Fujistu website there's a promotion offering a year's subscription to Evernote Premium with purchase of the above model which was also posted on their ScanSnap Facebook page which takes you to this post. The thing is, it's not mentioned on the UK site nor does the post mention it's limited to the US (which would be a bit silly) so can I purchase this scanner and get a year's subscription to Evernote Premium or not? Cheers.
  24. Im a first time user so please be gentle with me if I inadvertently flout the protocol of the forum. I have Evernote in my dock and usually with the window open. 'keep in dock' and 'open at login' are both checked. When I scan a new document I get an additional scan to Evernote icon that appears briefly and then a brand new Evernote window opens. I now have two Evernote Icons in my dock and two Evernote windows open. The new one has the new document proudly on view while the original window that was open all the time doesn't show the new document until I sync it. Any subsequent scans are sent to the new window, ie it doesn't open a new window for every scan. I would like Scan snap to recognise that Evernote is already open and not open a new window when I scan a document. Thanks in advance for any help with this irritation.
  25. Using ScanSnap with the IX 500 is really a delight. I can configure various profiles to control how the scanning should take place. So for example, I can set up an entry for scanning waivers to a folder (for example a dropbox folder) and have it do a single sided scan without OCR (the only thing that really changes is the signature) and have each page go to a separate file. I can set it to scan a batch of checks, single sided with OCR, one file per batch, or deposit slips, double sided, to one file in a folder. What I really want to do is scan to Evernote, with that same level of scanning control. Currently, I can create profile entries for the type of scan that I want but: I can't set the destination Notebook. I can't prevent it from scanning both sides. As a result, if I scan direct to Evernote, I get 2 sided scans to the default notebook, no matter which profile I use. This means that I have to select the notebook after it scans - not too terrible - but it scans both sides of the check. One side is sufficient. The fact that the check gets OCR'ed is really nice because it is easy to search for checks by the payer. OCR on things like waivers and performer's releases is a waste, since the text in them is all the same. This office type of Application is being done on a Mac. Does anybody know how to solve this? Does Evernote have any AppleScripting that might help? I also want to be able to do the same thing on Windows - There is a slightly older model of the scanner in the physical office.
