  1. Hello, It's already one year ago that EN released the reminder feature. This feature has been a very great step forward for EN and the implementation is really well done! Thank you, Evernote! According to Andrew Sinkov this was just the beginning. He wrote that the functionality of reminders would be expanded in the future. Unfortunately, this has not been the case until now. Recurring reminders are still missing although the feature has been requested a lot of times. I hope there will be some news on it soon! What do you mean?
  2. I love Reminders (just started using Evernote as my task manager), but Reminders on the desktop seems a little wonky: 1) Create a note with a task, tap Reminder 2) Task shows up in Reminder pane at the top of the notebook pane 3) Finish task, click checkmark in Reminder pane Task still kind of refuses to die. Ok fine, I can click off on "Show completed reminders," but it's still there in hidden, or when the completed reminders pop back on. Seems that this view is going to get messy very fast. The reminder icon on the note is back to grey, like it never happened, but it is still cruft to me in the reminders list. If I want to delete the reminder forever I have to 1) Go to the note 2) Make a new Reminder, 3) Clear that Reminder - definitely not a perfect solution. Idea: Can the completed reminders disappear after a day? This isn't a problem on iPhone/iPad - when you click "done" on a reminder there, they are just gone
  3. I just noticed that in the iOS Evernote app that, when in a notebook, the button at the bottom of the screen that would bring up a list of reminders has disappeared. Anyone one know where it went, or know a different way to bring up a list of reminders? Thanks!
  4. I'm studying computer science and I have a strong passion for user experience/interface design. I haven't been the biggest fan of Evernote and I've realized that it comes down to a few pretty simple issues that I feel would enhance the usability of Evernote for many people, including myself. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate what Evernote does and the quality/reliability. However, I would love to see it improve in the following 4 main ways (in order of importance in my opinion): 1. Have a "Sort by" setting for each notebook so that it can be sorted by things like the date they were created/last edited (or user's chosen order). 2. Have a quick and easy list entry (comparable to Google Keep) 3. Change the reminders...I feel they should be a separate thing within evernote (possibly displayed on a calendar style layout) with a note attached to them (rather than the reminder attaching to the note). I would also like the option to have a recurring reminder. 4. Allow for a larger hierarchy of notebooks for better organization beyond two layers (good for OCD people like myself) A point of lesser importance: I would also love to see one or more alternative layouts/color schemes available if possible...I feel this makes a big difference to potential users. Perhaps take some inspiration from EverMemo or Google Keep.
  5. Is it already possible, or has it been discussed, to add geofencing options to Evernote reminders? I recently saw that as an option on the web version of Google Keep, and I thought it would be a great feature to add to Evernote. If there have been previous threads about this, please point me to them. I just joined the board. Thanks.
  6. I love the new reminders feature that has made it to the Windows desktop client. I sometimes keep checklists of tasks (in my case, a task == a note) that have to be done at certain times. I usually have a separate notebook per-checklist, and when required, I'd copy all of the notes to a destination notebook, then I'd like to bulk apply a reminder to all of them, in the same way I can do that with tags today. My suggestion is in the bulk note screen, to have a "Click to add reminder..." link next to the "Click to add tag...".
  7. Hi, I was wondering if Evernote can or could has the capability of setting up a "due date" AND a "reminder" separately. It would be wonderful since one can control both of them. Jaime
  8. Hi all, I just signed up for Business and am in the process of migrating thousands of notes from my personal account. One notebook in particular contains about 100 notes with reminders. When a notebook is converted will those reminders still be there or are they lost in the conversion process? Thanks!
  9. Using Evernote Reminders isn't clear to me. Is it possible to have reminders that I set go to my Gmail, Yahoo, or other email address? If so then how. I set Reminders on notes but I don't see them in my Gmail inbox. Looking for clarity. Rob
  10. When I set up an email reminder everything works but placement of the reminder in the right notebook. I set it up as follows: Email Subject: Boarding Passes @Travel !2014/02/13 #Itinerary It puts the date in and sets the reminder but places the message in my default mailbox instead of Travel. Are the "spaces" incorrect? I copied this right from your "Tips for Emailing Into Evernote. I am on a Mac with Mavericks OSX 10.9.1
  11. Evernote CEO Phil Libin's recent blog post may sound great, but i have lost hope and patience that Evernote will get all the broken stuff to work. Once my premium subscription runs out, i won't renew it, because i see no point in paying for unfinished, buggy and broken features. In case you're interested why, here are the reasons: Currently i use Evernote on iPhone, iPad, MacBook Air and sometimes an Android device. Last May Evernote introduced 'Reminders' for Mac, iOS an Web and later for Android. Eight months later, a reminder i create in the web app or Mac app doesn't trigger a notification on iPhone and iPad unless i manually open/sync Evernote after creating it. Then, iOS 7 was released more than four months ago and Evernote's background sync still doesn't work reliable. And no, this is no problem with iOS 7, but the way Evernote tries to use that system feature and fails its users. Both problems could be easily resolved if Evernote finally used iOS push notifications. That way, iOS devices would get silently notified about updates and download these or trigger notifications. There are way smaller companies out there that get this right - see Shift Jelly's excellent Pocket Casts, with which i don't have to care if it is running in the background or not - but Evernote either sees no problem in its current implementation or simply doesn't care, that it doesn't work as it should. Well, i do and i'll show it with my wallet.
  12. My android client suddenly shows hundreds of notes in the reminder section - notes that really do not have reminders. When I open the note, the reminder icon is grey, not blue as it is for the real reminders. Still, those "phantom reminder" notes linger at the top of the notes with the actual reminders and a checkbox beside them. How could that happen, and what can I do to stop it?
  13. Hi, I was wondering if there existed a widget for Android (either on the home screen or lock screen) that would display all the reminders for today or the past (only unfinished). I use Evernote as part of my GTD-based system, and use reminders to indicate when I think I can get to a specific task. Having the list of current tasks visible on the home screen would make it easier to see what's up for that day, without having to go into Evernote itself. Thanks for letting me know. +Emilien
  14. I am trying to get away from using Google Calendar as a to-do tool, but it is so convenient. I make an "all day" event in the right day, and if it doesn't get completed, I just drag it to the new date. Done. I'd prefer to use evernote for this, for a variety of reasons, but changing the date takes at least 4 clicks, and I have to do that for multiple tasks some days. Is there any way around this? Maybe this is a feature request... I may have to go back to the GTD tag system (1now, 2next, etc) but I would prefer the checklist with dates.
  15. My iPhone and iPad have hundreds of reminders, while on my PC and in the web version of Evernote I have only a few reminders. In the Windows and web versions of Evernote I have just the few reminders that I created. In the iOS versions of Evernote, I never created these 259 reminders. Does anyone know how reminders could be created for notes seemingly all by themselves? And why these iOS reminders don't sync with my web or Windows versions of Evernote? (Not that I want these reminders; I never created them.) I'd like to delete all these reminders --hopefully not one at a time-- and prevent this from happening again. Thanks.
  16. Hello, After extensive testing this morning with a triple setup of windows client, web version and iOS version I've finally managed to find one of the annoying bugs that is causing my reminder searches to fail. My apologies if this is known behaviour, but I have not found any such evidence when looking around. The bug is that the windows version cannot correctly "clear reminders". The effect when clearing a reminder on the windows client is exactly the same as completing the reminder, ie it gets a "reminderdonetime" and still keeps its "reminderorder". This of course means that all searches with those two parameters will yield an erroneous result when there are cleared reminders. This conclusion is based on the (in my opinion expected) behaviour of web and ios, where "clear reminder" really clears everything about that reminder (and does not set a "reminderdonetime"). One odd thing about this is that this behaviour does not seem to sync to the other platforms. A "cleared" reminder on windows that is misbehaving there will still be synced and picked up as a correctly cleared reminder on the other platforms. I've tested this on the latest stable build as well as on the latest beta (5.1.0.1869) with identical results. Greetings, Martin
  17. Hi I love the notification function, but.... Please let the user set a different or no notification sound! Right now it is just using the default notification sound, but I want to hear if I am getting a SMS, an Outlook reminder or an Evernote reminder! And as I read around on the forums, some just want a visual reminder and no sound. No, turning off the notifications is no good, as that will switch them all off Possible workaround (cumbersome, but may work): set specific notification sounds for all the "other" apps and let Evernote as the only app using the default (only works if all your other apps let you choose a specific sound). Clunky and not Evernote worthy! Thanks!
  18. Hi, Noticed that when opening Evernote on Android, my reminders for today are still showing as yesterday. Seems like I have to switch notebooks back and forth to make it refresh and then they will show under the 'Due Today' section. This also has an ongoing effect on the widget, which makes it look like I have no reminders today, when I actually do. Is there a setting which controls this or is this a bug? Anyone else see this issue? Cheers Jamie (Nexus4, Android 4.3)
  19. I can't seem to get day+1 to work as search criteria, however day-1 does work. remindertime:day -reminderTime:day+1 Trying to display all reminders due today. If I turn on the "Show Search Explanation" feature it shows that is is searching for "1" in the text rather as part of the reminderTime:day advanced filter. It is change it to -1 it works fine. Any ideas how to make this work?
  20. I'm a heavy user of the reminders feature in Evernote for Mac. When the little calendar pops down while choosing a date for the reminder, I'd love to see it showing a "heat map" that indicates which days already have a lot of reminders. The days, for example, could be white, yellow, orange or red depending on the number of reminders on any given day. This would be similar to the year view in the calendar app on Mac OSx (shown in attached image). . I understand this is probably one of those things that might only be useful for a niche group of evernote users, but it really would be helpful when scheduling a reminder.
  21. Hi, I think it would be a pretty useful feature to add some sort of calender so that we could see all reminders at a glance. Something that would allow to see an overview for the day, month, year. OR at least provide Google Calender and/or iCal synchronization. Thank you.
  22. Hi, a - I want to capture somethingI am studying. b - I want to set up emails reminders to go to me to remind me to look at this thing : today + x days, today + y days, today +z days Can one do this in an Evernote product? I couldn't find anything on the KB. Thanks in advance
  23. I'm using Evernote v. 5.0.1.1188 (261696). I know it's a great improvement from v.4 just to have reminders in the desktop app, but it still doesn't work as expected. Of course the best would be if we have an option or screen to see the reminders ordered by due date, with the option to hide completed tasks, just like the Android app. But at least the search by operators could work: I've tried to search for "reminderOrder:* -reminderDoneTime:*" and it doesn't hide reminders marked as completed; I've tried to search for "reminderOrder:*" and it shows notes from which I've cleared reminder information.I hope that next versions handle reminders better.
  24. I am starting to get extremely irritated that you guys have not updated Evernote for Windows to handle reminders yet. I am running three companies off of Evernote and we are all using reminders on our phones but cannot on our Windows clients...STILL. This is not something I would suspect from a company who has raised SO MUCH MONEY and prides itself on releasing/updating clients concurrently to maintain a consistent feature base. WHEN IS THIS HAPPENING? People are relying on Evernote to run their Businesses and having this feature available on the mobile but not the windows client is giving us a headache and slowing our plans to adapt evernote in even more areas of our organization.
  25. I have a suggestion which would help me with the new and fabulous REMINDERS. It would be great if items which were due today could be highlighted, and overdue items highlighted in red (or colour of choosing). This would make things visually very clear about priorities. Also when the notes section opens up with all the REMINDERS section first, it is cool how you can collapse and expand this section, however again, it would be good if a section was highlighted (even when collapsed) if it had items in it that were due on the day or overdue.
