  1. I am a "premium" user, which means I pay to use Evernote. I suddenly realized Evernote is running analytics on its pages, which makes me wonder how much of my behavior on the site is recorded and fed into the Algorithm. I realize Google and others made the internet "free" (as in "free to rock the chain") by taking personal information, instead of money, in return for their products. I am not sure I feel OK both paying in money AND information, though. Can one opt out of the analytics? Cheers, Tomas from Sweden
  2. Currently, it's only possible to get a two step verification code via text message or Google Authenticator. it’s important to keep my accounts as secure as possible, so I was really happy when Evernote announced that two-step verification is available to all Evernote users. I enable it immediately. But now i’m forced to use Google Authenticator. I’ve had to switch to Google Authenticator to copy my one-time-paswsword and quickly switch back to Evernote to paste it before it expires! It’s very stressful. For all my other accounts (that use two steps verification) I simply use 1Password (build i
  3. Hi! I have tried to reach out to the Evernote team about this earlier, but I got no response. So now I will try here instead. If you press Cmd + space on your Mac, you can search for everything on your computer. And if you have Evernote installed, you can search for everything that's been written in Evernote, even if you're not logged in. Because when you do that search (on the Mac), you get a little preview/thumbnail that shows the some of the text that's been written in Evernote. In my case, I had a note with passwords in Evernote. And when I searched for the word "password" on my M
  4. Why, when I log into Evernote.com to access my data, is Evernote trying to set third party cookies to DoubleClick.net and Tealiumiq.com? DoubleClick is an ad tracking company. What are they paying you for when I open my notes? I am not sure what Tealiumiq is even after going to their website. I am continuing to block their cookies, and uBlock Origin is blocking DoubleClick scripts.
  5. Hey, this is how I am thinking to upload my notes into EverNote and wanted to hear your opinion if this is a good way or not? Writing Note in PDF -> Encrypting the PDF's using its own password option -> Archiving the PDF using 7-Zip and encrypting it using 7-Zip's 256 AES password. So, the PDF needs the password to open and to get the pdf, one has to need the password of the RAR file too. So, is this good? And is 7-Zip good for encryption? Many say 7-Zip is one of the best. Waiting for your opinion guys. Thanks in advance!
  6. Recently a study from Princeton analysed what is called session replay. Oversimplified, it is a third party company acting as man in the middle between your PC and the website you are visiting, which then tracks and stores every mouseclick and keystroke to help the site owner analyse their website. In order to do this, everything you type is not only stored at the website (like for example Evernote), but also on the servers of the analytics company. Obviously this poses a significant security issue. Or like one of the researchers from Princeton puts it: "Collection of page content by third-p
  7. I installed the latest update ( Version 6.13 –455673 Direct) for MacOS and noticed Evernote attempts to connect to tealiumiq upon startup. I know that tealiumiq is used for "tag management" and advertising. Can you please answer: Why exactly does Evernote want to attempt to tealiumiq's servers, is this connection necessary for the application and service to function properly, what data is sent to tealiumiq, how long is this information stored at tealiumiq, is it shared with any other organization, and is it used to advertise or market to users in any
  8. Hi, I am about to use Evernote for my personal and work. And I have some queries: 1) How secure and private are my confidential notes in Evernote? 2) Can any Evernote employee access and see my confidential notes? I know people can see my notes and things only if I give access to them but here I am talking about Evernote employees. 3) Is there any way to prevent Evernote from auto-saving into the cloud and make Evernote to save the notes on my PC? Thanks in advance. Guddu
  9. I've been reading Evernote security and privacy pages and I'm not sure if notes are been deleted from their servers. It's privacy page (https://evernote.com/legal/privacy.php) says: So I understand that "deleted data" is really wiped out after one year (they keep database backups for one year). But it's security page (https://evernote.com/security/) says: Does that mean that note's data itself is still in their databases but it's not linked to my account? If I have my CV in a note and I delete it, it doesn't matter if they only remove the "links" (or id column, whatever) t
  10. When someone searches on the Google App for a word that I have used in one of my Evernote note title..then that note shows up on the search suggestions. And there is no option to disable it.
  11. I've grudgingly accepted that Google Calendar is the only way for our team to keep track of what we're scheduling when. Oh, how I wish there were a full-function EN calendar! Whining aside: I understand that when I create events or reminders in EN, it will sync with the gcal. But I have private notebooks as well as shared notebooks in my EN. I want only the events/reminders from my few shared notebooks to show up in the team calendar. I've poked around looking to set that restriction, but haven't found it. Is it possible? Thanks!
  12. Hello! I am new to Evernote. Would someone answer a few questions? 1. Is there no ability to create a notebook cover? 2. Is there ability to organize notebooks that are in the stack? 3. What is this "deeper more powerful search" offered in the premium services and how exactly does the search differ using the plus service and the premium service? 4. In creating a notebook, I saw the ability to share it but there was no ability that I saw to make it private. Can I assume then, that it is private by default? 5. Is there no customization of paper in the notebooks? Tha
  13. I'm using the official Evernote for Android app, and I just noticed when reviewing my Google Account history, that Evernote is notifying Google each time that I open a note on Android, including the note title and its URL. You can see this in your own Google account by visiting this URL: https://myactivity.google.com/item?product=1&q=evernote (see attached image for an example) While I realise that I have at some point explicitly opted in to Google's "Web & App Activity" feature (it's one of the things Google tries hard to get you to agree with when setting up an Android phon
  14. I don't understand, how can Backblaze encrypt all your data (terabytes of it), while charging $50/yr. But Evernote, which charges about the same and only stores on average 1/1000 of the data can't encrypt all the data?? If it's an issue of size of the notes(and opening them frequently), there should be some design plan here that allows text-only notes to be encyrpted and searchable. Backblaze takes about a minute to open 4tb of data, but text-only files are extremely small in size, and should be able to be searched quickly. Or at the very least, let us make certain notes encrypted (
  15. Just wondering....... https://turtlapp.com/ seems to encrypt your entire note, and even better, they can't even see the contents......
  16. As a user who stores a lot of sensitive information in Evernote, I would appreciate the capability for enhanced security beyond what is currently provided. 1) Data encryption at rest. I haven't found any information on this, but it seems to me our personal data is stored on the servers in "plaintext" form, and is only encrypted during transmission to/from the clients and servers. Are there any plans to implement full end-to-end encryption of data in all phases? I understand that Evernote needs the keys in order to support a lot of its useful features. Perhaps there could also be a user-selec
  17. I wish to use Evernote for tasks regarding a potential startup and personal things. How I can be 100% sure that my content that can be action plans, requirements, comments are not read by someone in Evernote team or partners? Thank you, Antonio
  18. I enter data in evernote notes about three or four times daily via iphone. But due to an increased functionality of a computer, I update/revised the notes on my computer weekly. I am the only user of my iphone, but have several people using my computer which of course contains the synced evernotes. As such, I really wish that there was a way to password protect some of my notes, seeing that I jot down thoughts in evernote via iphone daily, which I don't want users of my computer to have access to. Without this password protect functionality, I turn to word processing programs ava
  19. Hey all, I'm working for a client who disallows utilization of any service which forces cloud syncing through any server other than their own. I'm an avid Evernote user but without the ability to limit syncing to Evernote's servers I'm forced to find another solution. Is there any discussion ongoing about adding the ability to limit Cloud syncing within the iOS application so I can use my iPad Pro with my Apple Pencil to keep my notes secure within the device while not exposing confidential client information to Evernote's servers? It seems that Evernote would have thought about this by n
