  1. I use to be able to move seamlessly from one page to another in a notebook. Am I right that I have to go to the thumbnails to change pages? This slows me down when I'm taking notes. What happened?
  2. Dear all, I am a very regular user of Penultimate and was wondering if there are any known updates coming to the application. I would love to see a legal pad added to the choices of the paper styles (example: Notepad+). Frank
  3. Hi, I'm new to the forum and the products. Does anyone know if I can copy text or images onto the clip board on iOS and then paste in to penultimate notebook
  4. Hi all, Is there any way to disable long press? When I'm attempting to take notes, even a short delay on my part, brings up the copy/photo option which then makes writing impossible! Any suggestions? Does not seem to be any way to turn this off in the settings! Thanks, Unkei
  5. Dear Forum, I have a personal and now a work dropbox account. I would like to change the dropbox account I use to back up penultimate to from my personal to work account which has more storage. How do I do that? Any ideas as I have checked in advanced setting and the Dropbox shows an Import Files option only. Thanks Simon
  6. First off, I love this app and I've had it for a long time. Ever since I purchased the first iPad my hope was to move my daily journaling and writing practices to the iPad. Now this is finally happening with the iPad Pro and PenUltimate. However, I do find that PenUltimate is not the greatest at returning me where I last left off. I created a journal Notebook and within that I have one "note" that will serve as my journal for the rest of this calendar year. I'm currently on page 19 of this note and when I go to open it in the morning it doesn't typically take me to where I left off (the last page). Instead, I have to scroll to get there and then start again. What's more is that if I am using the app, briefly switch to another and then return to PenUltimate, it doesn't put me back at where I left off. Instead, it'll put me a few pages before that and I have to scroll again. Given how much I use the app, this happens quite a few times in a day. A fix for this would be quite lovely.
  7. I would like to move Penultimate notes into other notebooks from within Penultimate, instead of going to Evernore and moving it there.
  8. I love Penultimate and use it pretty exclusively for notes on my iPad. There is one feature that I need (and frankly, can't find in any other app). Figured I'd ask my favorite app! I would like to be able to take handwritten notes that are able to the checked off and the be filed as completely/disappear from the list. The Checklist page layout is a start, but its just a background. I want something functional! I understand that i'd probably have to write within a certain "box" or within lines to make this functional, but it would make note taking and task management so much easier than just an "X" marking it completed or literally scratching it off. There are plenty of apps that do this with typed notes, but none with handwriting. Thanks for considering!
  9. Hi, given that you should now be receiving further investment for ever-note is there any way you could better integrate or tranfer the functionality of Penultimate into Ever note itself. It is a brilliant note writing tool and far better then that used in ever note. It would be great to have this functionality alongside the ability to type and add images actually in Ever note itself. Thanks, Paul
  10. I downloaded today's update and lost ALL of my previous notes. Is there anyway that I can get them back? Please help!
  11. It seems to me that up until a few months ago, there was steady revolution, progress, updates, bug fixes, and forum traffic about Penultimate, most or all of which has suddenly stopped. In light of refocusing efforts by EN, I often wonder if Penultimate has been completely or largely abandoned. Personally, I have been forced to abandon Penultimate because of at least one bug (not returning to last page written), and have been spooked by EN integration where I deleted a notebook full of EN notes from within Penultimate. I realize this isn't a powerful threat if EN abandoned me before I abandoned Penultimate, but if so, I will find it very disappointing since I am a user that has been around since almost the birth of both products.
  12. One of the features that i really like in EverNote is the Atlas, however all my notes created in PU have no location, and are locked in the EverNote app, preventing manual updates. Adding automatic capture of location on note creation option (to allow those who don't want it to disable) would be a great enhancement and deepen the integration with EverNote.
  13. I have had two of the original models of the Jot Script pen from Adonit. The second one and the topic of this discussion was sent because the original failed within the warranty period. Even thought I had the second pen for quite some time it probably had less than 30 hours of use. It failed and I worked with the customer service at Adonit to see if it was me, the pen or the software that was the problem. The pens warranty had, of course, just expired and there was no solution so I decided to do an autopsy on it. It didn't take long to figure out what happened. It makes me wonder if companies analyze their failures or just supply another product and toss the offender. After unscrewing the nose of the pen (which for the most part electronically, I find a technological wonder), I found the wires that attach the floating tip of the pen to the circuit board broke (a mechanical failure). There were two wires going to two different places on the tip, and both were broke. This explains the intermittent nature of the failure. The failed wires were tiny single strand solid copper (most likely) wires. Copper work hardens when you bend it and I believe that the continuous motion of the tip moving back and forth eventually caused these wires to break (with not much usage). I do not think this was a good design and am curious if it was changed in the new model. I , of course, could have been the recipient of two bad apples but a 80.00 product should not fail with this little of use. Reading some of the complaints makes me believe that this may be the issue that many of these failed pens have had.
  14. I understand the desire to keep Penultimate a separate app. However, there is a big gap in functionality, when you have to create separate notebooks for the same project. Evernote's writing capabilities are not to the same level as Penultimate, but I cannot directly add a Penultimate note into an Evernote Notebook. The closest equivalent is to find that Penultimate note in Evernote, and then link that note in the Evernote Notebook. The simple solution would be to make the Evernote Notebooks available to Penultimate, and add the ability to create handwritten notes in those notebooks. That way we can have our handwritten notes side-by-side in the same notebook. Even if I have to go back in to Penultimate to modify the handwritten note, at least it is in the same place, same Notebook.
  15. I would really appreciate if the developers could add an option for sorting notes within notebooks and notebooks themselves (e.g. by name, date created etc). I know i can do that within Evernote, but having this option in penultimate will be super helpful and convenient, cause right now it becomes an ugly scattered mess if you have a lot of notes or notebooks.
  16. Thanks so much for the continued feedback around the new Penultimate 6.0. In addition to working to address any and all concerns, we’ve pulled together a Penultimate 6.0 FAQ, available below. An official user guide is on the way. A list of feedback under review is in the last section. What’s New Penultimate 6.0 is a complete rewrite of Penultimate for smoother writing and better organization. Each "notebook" from Penultimate 5 will appear as a vertically scrolling note in Penultimate 6, which matches how they are stored and viewed in Evernote. Use two fingers to scroll up and down, and keep scrolling to get more paper. Users may now organize their Penultimate notes into multiple Evernote notebooks, which appear as colored circles in the app. Your Penultimate notes can now exist in any Evernote notebook, and not just the default Penultimate notebook. This is an extra level of organization for users that was previously only available within Evernote. 6.0 Feature breakdown New UI for focused writing Write in full screen and keep writing without stopping to add new pages. Use two fingers to scroll up and down notes. Create new notes, and access different kinds of paper, more quickly New highlighting tool Improved connection process, writing quality, and accuracy for the Jot Script stylus More powerful search View by default all Evernote notebooks that contain Penultimate notes Access and add notes to your Evernote notebooks, including business notebooks View your Penultimate notes in Evernote FAQ What versions of iOS is Penultimate compatible with? Penultimate 6.0 requires iOS 8.0. The previous version of Penultimate is available on the App Store only for users who haven’t yet updated to iOS 8.0. Scrolling is not working. How do I get it back? Scrolling may be disabled if you have turned on drift. Turn off drift to restore scrolling. Does Penultimate work on my iPhone, iPhone 6 Plus, or iPod Touch? No, Penultimate is for iPad. Is Dropbox auto-backup still supported? Dropbox auto-backup is not supported in this release. This will be supported in a future release. Can I view pages in landscape / lengthwise format? No, Penultimate pages are in portrait format. Can I write in landscape / lengthwise format? Yes. Pages are always presented in portrait mode. When the device is in landscape orientation the page maintains its orientation to support landscape handwriting. How-Tos How to access existing Penultimate notebooks: Existing Penultimate notebooks are now represented as a stack of pages that form a single note. You can access individual pages by opening a note and then scrolling with two fingers. Notes in Penultimate 6 are sorted by Evernote notebook, so users with notes in multiple notebooks will not see all their notes on screen at the same time. Only Evernote notebooks containing Penultimate notes will be shown in the interface, so the user must first move a Penultimate note into that notebook in another Evernote client. After syncing, the Evernote notebook should show up as a circle in the notebook list in the app. How to exit a notebook: To exit the current notebook, tap the notebook at the top of the screen. How to move a note to a different notebook: This is currently not supported in the app. Users should use other Evernote clients to move Penultimate notes. How to export notes: Long press the note and slide your finger over the share icon. Choose the file type to export (this is only available if you have selected the “export notes as .pen format” under the sharing section in setting). Choose an app to receive the file. To export to Dropbox, the Dropbox app must be installed. How to print notes: Long press the note and slide your finger over the share icon. Choose to export as PDF. Select Print. How to connect Jot Script: Make sure your stylus is turned on. Open up the writing view and then open the menu if it is closed. Then tap the pen button with a bluetooth icon. Tap and hold the circles and follow the instructions on screen. This can also be accomplished under Settings > Jot Script Evernote Stylus Setup. How to delete a note or notebook: Long press the note or notebook and slide your finger over the trash can. How to rename a note or notebook: Long press the note or notebook and slide your finger over the "i." How to enable iTunes backup: This is currently not supported in the app. Reported issues under review We’re reviewing and passing along feedback over to the development team. Here’s a list of items that are presently under review: Finding your place within longer notes Page indicators Ink rendering is thicker (different) Two finger scrolling isn’t working Drift needed, more space for zoom box Zoom box should stop when you stop writing Clear all function should be added Landscape papers not showing up in landscape
  17. Hi, I have recived my jot script today, but i can't pair it the Penultimate, have watched some diffrent guides on connecting it and before it where an menu in the settings panel. But its gone.... HOW DO I DO, Best regards Petter
  18. Right now, you have to save a penultimate note into a default folder within Penultimate. In order to put it in its proper place (if you use folders, like I do) is to drag and drop it into the target folder within EN. Not a seamless experience and disrupts the workflow.
  19. Hello! Looking for a good not taking app for my ipad, and would like the ability to convert handwriting to text... does Penultimate offer that feature?
  20. new to Penultimate and trying out custom papers. However, once created I can't find any way to remove them. Searching Google and forums has not helped. it appears the may have been a way to do it in the past, but it was lost when "my papers" was folded into "basic". I get this impression because the Evernote help page on customer papers mentions a method involving "selecting my papers". Any help appreciated, larry
  21. When I'm writing text the zoom box is very helpful, but when I'm doing something else like drawing or sketching, I want more flexibility in how I zoom. Zooming normally with out the box should be an option (simple toggle in the toobar?). Also, when I'm panning with a tool in my hand, I sometimes write something by mistake. It'd be very useful if there was a pan tool where I couldn't write anything.
  22. With the introduction of the Microsoft Surface tablet, the upcoming Surface Pro, and the various other MS tablets (I own a Samsung ATIV Smart PC, myself)... Please, Evernote team, make Penultimate for Windows 8. Evernote is in desperate need of having a handwritten, notes taking application... If ever you needed motivation: OneNote by Microsoft is really, really good. I'm actually thinking about switching just for the handwriting option, but I love Evernote so much!
  23. Allow editing of Penultimate content while in Evernote.
  24. Today, I renamed an existing notebook in Penultimate. Unfortunately, I chose a name of an already existing notebook, earlier created in EN. As a result, the notebook disappeared from the PU overview of notebooks. This is counterintuitive behaviour: a 'rename' suddenly seems to delete (or at least hide) an existing notebook. And I did not immediately realise what just had happened, as there was not even a warning message informing me of the duplicate notebook name. I guess this is a bug? It could hardly be considered a feature... What would work best in my opinion: let PU show all EN notebooks marked for PU usage (eg by assigning a specific tag in EN). Preferably, show all EN content, allowing to annotate all notes NOT created in PU. But until PU supports this kind of annotating, it would also work pretty good if PU only shows PU-created notes in those 'PU-tagged' notebooks. Alternative: either warn the user for duplication, or make it impossible to create a same-named notebook in PU.
