  1. As a professional user, I'm still using GoodNotes, since Penultimate is not yet there. There are 4 important improvements to learn from GoodNotes that would make Penultimate great. Get a zooming area on the bottom of the screen to comfortably write with the same advance feature like GoodNotes or NoteTakerHD. Turn the page 90 degrees as turning the iPad. Just like GoodNotes or NoteTakerHD. Be able to draw perfect lines, circles, squares and triangles like GoodNotes. Be able to choose your own amount of zoom like GoodNotes or NoteTakerHD. With those 4 improvements, Penultimate would be the greatest note taker program.
  2. Hello dear developers, thanks for making such a nice app, it helps me much with my study. Having been using it for a while, I think a reading mode is needed. The app is now easy to write notes, but not convenient for reading. I must pay high attention when I'm reading the notes I've written because if I touch the notes accidentally the contents will be modified. If there is a reading mode, that I can read the notes like ibooks, flipping pages using swipe, it would be great. I don't need to pay much attention to carefully tap the corner to get to the next page or accidently modify the notes. This will certainly make it very effective.
  3. When is Penultimate coming to windows 8? And is there a good alternate?
  4. I love the new update to Penultimate that included sync to Evernote. This update prompted me to reinstall it on my iPad. But I have a small complaint--you cannot pinch to zoom. I have an iPad mini, and it is very hard to add detail to notes without being able to get in closer. So my feature request is a simple one, allow pinch to zoom like most other drawing and art apps on iOS.
  5. I've started using Penultimate in an effort to go paperless with my writing and blogging. What I do is have a Penultimate/Evernote window open on one side of the screen and a Word document or blog post on the other side so I can easily copy down what I've written. I have a giant notebook filled with writing that I would like to easily copy over. What's the best way, if there is one, I can scan the notebook and have it appear in Evernote in one note so I can easily copy what I've written into a computer file?
  6. I was wondering if it would be possible to give us a few new pen choices. Penultimate is great, but the notes are bland in comparison to other apps. I'd like to be able to highlight my text (possibly with a watercolor looking highlighter). Also, when I import images, I would like to have some of them appear without that border. This is useful if I'm importing any kind of image with transparency. Forcing a white border to appear is ugly at the best of times. Thanks for enhancing such an awesome app
  7. A simple button to add Date (and/or Date Time) on a page would be great. Especially since a notebook is used for long periods of time and nice to know when a page worked on.
  8. Hi there, Let me start by saying thanks for the great products! It would be great if you could have the same smart stickers for penultimate that you have for the moleskine notebooks. A digital version of the stickers in the tool bar in penultimate would be really helpful for easily tagging notes in penultimate for follow up or flagging for other members of my team. Just a suggestion, keep up the great work! Sasha
  9. I am delighted by the acquisition of Penultimate, but it raises a concern that has been lingering for a while. Evernote can read my handwritten note. Bravo! I handwritten an email address and want to send an email to that address. I will have toread the note and type the address into my email application. Boo! It is crucial that handwritten content become content that I can se not just read. Can you let us know where this fits in the roadmap?
  10. I would like on a new release of penultimate a read-only protect page button. When i start to write a notebook and has a lot of pages, sometimes i overwrite for error a page and it's very frustrating to push undo button. Will be great i can protect a entire page against changes while i searching pages, involuntary hand moves and so...
  11. There seem to be a few topics on how to get around accidentally creating a new page on the ipad. Rather than jumping through hoops to reconfigure the ipad etc would it not be simpler for the team to add a new page button and app setting to either enable or disable auto page create? drives me nuts how many times I have to go back to previous page.
  12. Feature request that is driving me crazy- When inserting an image can you either add a create layers functions or a lock image? Every time I draw an 8 or a 3 the pen switches off and the image becomes active. It's practically unworkable and I am ready to switch off penultimate. Clearly the programming is saying that my pen is touching the image for too long which is funny from a drawing program.
  13. I received email from evernote yesterday gloating about penultimate and iOs. It really sounded like evernote is not interested in android at all. Perhaps it is time to find someone pro android and move my evernote content to a supplier who doesn't rub our nose in its iOs achievement as if there was nothing else!!!!! Ps evernote's inability to do bullets and numbered lists properly is well overdue for repair!!!
  14. Hi Guys, Is there any way to insert a search tag to a penultimate note before syncing to Evernote ? (or am I just missing something ? ) It would simplify searching of hand written notes and usability greatly, and you'd be light-years ahead of anything else out there. I would be happy to talk through requirements with a product manager if it helps. Thanks, Jon
  15. I would love to be able to import and markup (with ink) PDFs and images like the new app and service 'NoteSuite' offers. Ideally, inking would be available in the standard Evernote app (and on mac/windows), but as a minimum it needs to be available in Penultimate.
  16. I'm somewhat shocked Penultimate doesn't offer brown as a writing color, given how many others it offers. While I can see that little use would come out of writing, I often use the app to draw, and as brown is a neutral color that appears more often than one thinks, I find myself having to improve a little more often than I'd like. The app has two shades of gray; I'd rather see one gray and one brown, but that's just me. I'd rather not have to mix colors to communicate the color.
  17. I can see there are a number of feature requests pending, and my list probably crosses over with some, but here it is anyway: 1) Tagging Penultimate Notebooks and/or pages. Without question, you should be able to tag a Penultimate Notebook. Not to do so misses basic Evernote functionality. It would be nice to be able to tag pages. 2) Selecting Evernote Notebook for a Penultimate Notebook to go into. Again, not to do so misses basic Evernote functionality. 3) Importing PDFs for signature entries and annotation. I use a third party app at the moment, but i would rather keep it all under one roof. I see some people request handwriting zoom functions, I think THIS is where it would be really useful to zoom in. Signing on the dotted line might be difficult otherwise, and it's frankly useless in Skitch. 4) Am I the only one who thinks the thinnest ink you can select is pretty thick? Thicker then a pen on paper, which is odd given that the purpose of Penultimate is to delicate pen on paper as closely as possible. Please extend the slider to include a couple of thinner inks, my handwriting would be much more legible! Anyone agree?
  18. 1. Don't have time/date stamp change when only viewing a notebook, only when there was a change. (I find this very annoying) 2. lock page feature to prevent inadvertent changes to a finished page. 3. zoom feature (fine edit/viewing) 4. ocr option (writing to text) 5. Folder or cabinet system to organize groups of work 6. ability to rotate picture from camera. 7. method to modify notebook name from within the notebook. I do like and use the program, this short list of improvements will help me with my use of the application. Others please add to my list of you have more ideas. Thanks
  19. I do alot of storyboarding for film and would love the option to a use a text tool to add dialogue to sketches. Especially when sketches get too small for hand writing. PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE....LOVE THIS APP!!!
  20. I think I have bought every note taking / writing application for the iPad. I intended to do a comparison of all and choose a favorite but I could never organize all the features. Apps continue to get updated, new ones come out, and less popular ones fade into the iTunes store rating sunset. It became more of a challenge to understand all the apps rather than just getting my notes down. I'm glad to see Evernote purchase Penultimate. I think it is one of the best I tried and for a long time was the one I defaulted to for everyday use. Penultimate has the great organization features and I want to use it. But I'm lured away by another.......... First, let me explain that I'm a computer / gadget nerd that's a closet pen and paper guy. I like the feel of pen on paper. I enjoy writing on real paper with a good quality pen. I want to feel this on an electronic device or at least have a good enough feel that I can break myself from dead trees and ink. A month or so ago, I downloaded 53's Paper. At first, I was a little miffed that the app was free but you had to purchase pens and inks. Kind of a weird model but I guess developers will try anything on the app store. In retrospect, it's a good model because once you "feel" the writing, you have to have more. 53's paper is far and above the best feeling "writing" app on the iPad. It's very smooth and the ink follows your finger or sylus exactly. No lag or hesitations. The width of the stroke is well tied to the pressure applied. It just works and works really well. I actually feel like I'm writing with this application. OK - so why am I writing about this in an Evernote forum. I'm asking the Evernote/Penultimate folks to take a look at 53's paper and try the writing experience. I'm hoping there is a closet pen and paper guy among the group that will appreciate the smoothness and want to improve Penultimates writing smoothness. Thanks for reading Mark
  21. Would love to finally be able to tag notebooks. Then have a list of the tags available so user can see only notebooks with selected tags. Better than folders since can have multiple tags on a given notebook. The neu.Notes app does tags beautifully as you can select: All tags (show all notebooks) No tags (show untagged notebooks) Specified tag (show only there selected tag) Combinations of tags (ideally an ANY statement to pull any tags selected and a ALL statement to show only notebooks with all the selected tags) But even an extremely basic tagging implementation would be celebrated...I've been waiting years for Penultimate to allow this. Tagging at the notebook level is most important but tagging pages within notebooks would also be cool.
  22. I got Penultimate to go with Evernote because of the "handwriting recognition" feature. I had a tablet computer once upon a time (Windows XP) that would allow me to handwrite on the screen and the software would convert it to text. Since the technology is out there already, any plans to incorporate it?
  23. How do I change the image format of an emailed note? Have the latest version (installed today), but when I email a single note it is received as an attachment with an unknown format in Outlook 2007 and 2010 as well a Gmail clients. After traversing programs to open this attachment, the only program that will open this is Paint and Windows Photo Viewer. A friend with a paid version of Penultimate sends me notes where the note is an attachment in .png image format and opens like a normal image attachment. How can I fix this? I tried the search function, but the search just says "loading" and does nothing.
  24. I signed in to Penultimate with a different email address than I use for Evernote and then started using it without catching my mistake. Now I have several notebooks that I'd like to move into Evernote but don't see a way to do that. Am I going to have to start over or is there some way to save the content I've already put into my notebooks under the wrong email?
  25. I realize that Penultimate can recognize handwriting as text, but can I get it converted to text? I'd rather not share my chicken scratches with others, so it would be great if I can get my handwriting converted to typed text for export.
