  1. I've been using Evernote for years, but I've encountered something I'd never seen before. I routinely keep handwritten notes in a pocket notebook or steno pad and scan them into Evernote for safekeeping and search. Today I scanned my pocket notebook, dropped the PDF into the Evernote app on my MacBook, but when I checked it in the app on my phone I saw some of the text had been removed. I've attached two screenshots, one taken from a page from the original note in the Evernote app on my MacBook, where everything still looks fine, and the other of the same page as it appears when I call up the same PDF on my iPhone. If I tap the Annotate button in the app on my phone, I can see the original writing on the page — but even if I annotate that page and save it, the redacted page still displays. Is this because I put a line through some of my notes? If that's a feature in the iOS app, how can I turn it off so I can see my complete handwritten notes as I intended them to look?

  3. Hi, I converted all my documents to electronic copies a couple of years ago, I am now looking at using Ever Note to store my documents mainly to give me a better way to search documents, but have a couple of concerns and am after some thoughts. 1. As EN doesn't offer End to End encryption I am looking at Encrypting the pdf's... and attaching them in EN (I know I wont be able to search on the contents but if I TAG well this should resolve the mostly), has anyone else used this approach and how well does it work not just on desktop but on web, mobile... 2. Corruption I have read some articles on the web of people suffering from Notes corrupting does this still happen is there a known trigger (I will be backing up my EN data folder but my backup's will only be kept for 90 days) Thanks

    Going Paperless With Evernote

Evernote is an ever-ready, note-taking application for your computer, phone and tablet. This enables to you not only capture information rapidly as it comes to you in virtually any format, but also recall it when you need it. This new productivity workflow can be amazing for getting a hold on your paper management and moving toward a paperless lifestyle. Can it be done? Let’s learn about going paperless with Evernote with someone who’s done it, editor of LegalProductivity.com, Tim Baran! On March 29, 2016 at 7pm EDT, Tim will cover the strategies and techniques he uses in going and staying paperless with Evernote. We will be broadcasting the presentation via Blab.im. (It’s free and no login is required to watch. If you wish to chat or ask questions, you need to login and that simply requires a free Twitter account.) Please visit https://goo.gl/rFkSI5 on March 29, 2016 at 7pm EDT and join us for “Going Paperless with Evernote," presented by Tim Baran, LegalProductivity.com! https://goo.gl/rFkSI5 Hosted by Evernote DC - Penny Bryant Catterall, Order Your Life and Ray Sidney-Smith, Evernote Business Certified Consultant
  5. After struggling for years to go entirely paperless, I am delighted to have found Evernote. Its search capability is unbelievably good, and its UI is superb. There is only one feature it lacks for my use. I have built databases over the years that contain 500 to 2000 documents. These Access databases include some metadata with each document that provide a way to search through them, which is unnecessary of course in Evernote. I have been able to extract the document images--nearly all pdfs, but also including some other formats--from the databases and place them in a folder, one file per document. My problem is getting them into Evernote as individual notes. I only need to do this once, as I will be scanning or entering all newly acquired documents manually. I found that I can use Finder's Add to Evernote command on each file name, and it does exactly what I want. But, it only does it one file at a time; it is not present if I select multiple files. I have actually imported over 500 documents using that command, but it is a mind-numbing repetitive task. The obvious thing would be an extension of the command to multiple files for the Mac and the equivalent one for the PC.
  6. All Notes have a white background color. It will be good to include different background colors - like the black and foreground can be white (or green). Does anyone know if this is possible right now ?? Thx
  7. My ReMarkable tablet is a great note taking device. I export an image PDF and include it into an Evernote document. The Evernote text preview on my Android is near perfect. I cannot copy the preview text. How can I export or copy that OCR text into another Evernote document? All help is appreciated. Premium user. SocceRef.

    using evernote for organizing receipts

Hi all, I've been testing how to use evernote for organizing receipts and invoices for multiple properties i own. The reason I chose evernote is because of the support, robust platform, excellent fast phone scanning and searchable text. Mostly it's working great. The one thing I cannot seem to control is the ordering of the photos. If I take a sequence of 5 photos in one note, I would like the newest ones to come on top instead of the newest ones to go to the bottom. Is there any way to control this? Thanks Nick

    paperless Auto Tagging Scan Software

Hello, I am looking for a sofware, which can auto add tags to documents based on the content. For example it recognizes the date: 01.01.2001 and adds a tag with date: 01.01.2001 or it recognizes the recipient of the bill Adam Smith. So it adds the tags Smith and Adam. Then, to find the file later on, I just have to type Adam Smith and see all the files regarding Adam Smith and so on. I actually think it should be possible with todays hard- and software, but I couldn't find anything like that. I need it to realise my paperless buero I would really appreciate any help. Best Regards, J.
  10. Hi - Is there a way or an app that scan paper and autotag based on the text inside? for example: if I scan Comcast bill, It will autotag the scan with "comcast, bill ...." ? Thanks

    Tips for Going Paperless

I have been 100% paperless for a few years now, and was 90% paperless for years before that (usually due to others, not me). Evernote is how I have done this. All of my notes and emails get saved in Evernote, I clip web pages, save PDF files, and scan any paper I receive into Evernote (I have the Evernote Scanner or use my smartphone camera). Here are some resources I used to go paperless: https://educationaltechnologyguy.blogspot.com/search/label/paperless

    paperless PDF vs Image

As I am trying to go paperless, I was wondering what format would it be best to scan in. At first, I was scanning to PDF, but then realized that I when viewed on the web, I do not see the document. Instead I must open a new window to view the PDF. Also Evernote's OCR only does PDFs if you are a paid member. So I choose to scan my files into image format so that I can see the file on the web without opening a new window. I choose the PNG file format for its lower file size compared to the JPG. Recently, I learned about searchable PDF's which have a hidden text layer within the PDF which makes them searchable without Evernote's OCR. I can make these, but it takes more time and steps then just simply scanning the file. So, which should I scan my documents into: PDF, image, or searchable PDF? Thank you.

  16. I got my Fujitsu Scansnap S1300 today. My plan was to use is for scanning my mail and documents to Evernote. I was very excited about going paperless and all until I realised that the Scansnap software does not support OCR in my language. Norwegian, that is. Right now I am wondering if I should just return the scanner, or if there might be some way around the problem. My first idea was to let Evernote do the OCR. However, Evernote does not support Norwegian text recognition at this point. So... Say I upload my PDFs now and let Evernote scan them using a dictionary similar to Norwegian (such as Danish). And say Evernote gets Norwegian support one day. Will I then be able to reprocess all my PDFs on the Evernote servers? (In one operation?) According to Evernote's public language availability chart, Norwegian OCR support is "waiting for web client". What does that mean? And what can desperate Norwegian Evernote users do to help speed up the process? I notice that I can right-click a PDF in Evernote, open it in Acrobat, and OCR scan it from there. After saving, the (Norwegian) PDF in Evernote is now perfectly searchable. It works great. Is there any way I could batch process all the PDFs in my Evernote account using Acrobat, ABBYY or some other OCR software? (In that way I could run that process every once in a while.) Do you know of any other Mac OCR software that can receive a file, process it and automatically transfer it to Evernote? (To achieve one-click scanning.) Any help and suggestions would be much appreciated!
  17. Hi there, I've been reading around, but I can't find an answer to this question. Are there scanners which can scan multiple 2-sided pages directly to my Evernote account without the neccesarity of a separate computer in the middle? The Xerox machines here at the office have that option, but that's a bit too much for me ;-) . It's just for home use and school. I can't find if the affordable snapshot scanners have that option. Any suggestions?

  19. Hi, I'm using evernote since some years with my Canon P-215. This works fine, the only thing annoying me is this stupid software CaptureOnTouch Canon provides. It shows confirmation dialogs and doesn't let me scan multiple scanprocesses and the scanners buttonpresses aren't recognized every time. So I wonder, do you have any ideas for a better software to scan directly into evernote using Windows? Greetings Torsten
  20. I was was wondering how many college students have gone paperless with the help of Evernote. Is it possible? What is your experience? Thanks for your replies in advance! Looking forward to reading from you. If you like this topic, you might also want to have a look here:
  21. Is it a good idea to move all documents from my entire lifetime to EverNote? I have organized folders from all the way back when I was in grade school, high school, college, my first jobs, etc. I have typed letters, diary entries, and creative writing as well. I am tired of having to live out of multiple places to find my stuff, such as my laptop for some folders versus Google Drive for others versus EverNote for others. I want everything is one place, period. Is it a good idea to place *all* of my documents I ever had into EverNote? I could easily organize them and such, but I am wondering if it's good for the long haul. Maybe putting the eggs in one basket is a bad idea, or maybe it will save me a lot of frustration and time as long as I backup my EverNote account. Thoughts?
  22. So guys, need your help, im going to college again(nutrition) and i want to be more paperless and efficient, beside that i like studying different kind of subjects, but unfortunately i have to keep printing pdfs for annotation and things like that, i also have a notebook with me for frequent annotations on things i find interesting, or read, saw somewhere. My main question is, which could be the right device for that use, handwriting notes, annotate on pdfs, draw, read ebook and make annotations there(points, arrows, handwritten notes, post its), save web articles for studying, ill use the evernote to keep all of them in the same place, but i need the manual thing on a portable device or ill start to get way too much mechanic and not creative, i like mind maping, drawing, highlighting, colors, for my learning. From what i saw, the ipad pro together with the notability app or the good notes 4 would be a good call(i heard those are good together with the evernote), but im new in this world and i want some suggestions, thats it, i currently have a lg g4, and this would be my first apple device maybe, need help. Edit: I already have a dell notebook for when i need a true desktop.
