  1. Hello, I have spent a frustrating hour searching through help and forums for what should be a simple action, a simple, obvious question to answer and a simple solution. So I have 90+ notes tagged with a specific name. I want to know shift them into a notebook of their own. I created the notebook name. I can call up all the hashtags, but there seems to be no mechanism to move them all, only individually. Surely this ability must exist, but I cannot see the option in the user interface. Would someone please advise on this? Seems crazy that it can't be done. I have a free account. Thank you
  2. I'm a new user and just downloaded Evernote on Macbook Pro. Somehow my Notebooks page isn't showing the Tabs -> Name, Count & Updated The page also seems to be missing the Grid and List view options. Any help how I can restore this would be awesome. Continue
  3. how can i save a shared notebook in my account, so i don't have to keep going into work chat to get the link? thanks!
  4. Yesterday my Notebooks displayed in the Left Panel suddenly appeared in non-alpha order. I am using the Evernote software on a ThinkPad, which I have used successfully for over one year and never had this happen before. I have logged out of my account, Quit Evernote from the hidden icon tab, even deleted the software from my computer and re-installed the program, but each time the Notebooks appear in a random order. I do not have this problem on the apps on my iPhone and iPad - the Notebooks are listed in alpha order, even after several syncs. Does anyone know how to restore them in alpha order? Thank you!
  5. It would be nice to be able to change the color of the notebooks individually. I organize this way in another iOS app and have found it very useful. Any chance of adding this to the final Mac version 5?
  6. Greetings! I forward emails to my Evernote. This is the majority of info that I store in Evernote. I created a notebook, named it "New" and made it the default thinking that everything that I emailed into Evernote would go there first and I could sort it all out later and move notes into the appropriate notebooks. It worked for a little while but then Evernote started started to put emailed notes wherever it wanted to which was usually in the wrong place. Now I have to go into the subject of each email and add "@New" to make sure it gets into the "New" folder which is a pain and eats time. Is Evernote somehow looking at the content of the emails and trying to decide the most appropriate notebook to send the email to? It's not working!!! What is the point of having a default notebook if Evernote disregards it?
  7. I believe there is no current way to create notebook stacks in beta. This seems like a fairly important function that should be developed. Hope it comes soon!
  8. I understand the desire to keep Penultimate a separate app. However, there is a big gap in functionality, when you have to create separate notebooks for the same project. Evernote's writing capabilities are not to the same level as Penultimate, but I cannot directly add a Penultimate note into an Evernote Notebook. The closest equivalent is to find that Penultimate note in Evernote, and then link that note in the Evernote Notebook. The simple solution would be to make the Evernote Notebooks available to Penultimate, and add the ability to create handwritten notes in those notebooks. That way we can have our handwritten notes side-by-side in the same notebook. Even if I have to go back in to Penultimate to modify the handwritten note, at least it is in the same place, same Notebook.
  9. I have been using evernote for several years now, and have come to rely on it. Due to the sensitive nature of some of my data, I would like to be able to lock some of my notebooks with a password. Think this would be useful?
  10. Hi, I will describe my scenario of how I use my Evernote in some cases: I am watching a course, and I am creating a notebook for that course that will include notes per chapter and sub-section of chapter etc. I also have a "Course Index" note that includes links to the other notes of the course but in a specific order (the one the course was delivered by the instructor) some information about the course etc. Wouldn't be great idea if we were able to make the "Course Index" sticky note so even If I update the other notes, the index note will always be on the top? Kind Regards, Rafael

  12. I would like to have the ability to print my list of Notebooks showing stacks. This is intended to assist with organization of Notebooks/Notes. And consistent organization across Outlook Folders, Window Folders, etc. Thanks!!
  13. Hi! I need to re-organize my Evernote and can't seem to find a way to move more that one note at a time to a new notebook. I am on Mac. I tried "Command" click but that won't select more than one note at a time. Is there a way to do this?? I have 100's of notes I need to move to a different notebook. TIA! - Chel

    Whole notebook deleted!

Just found out that my most used notebook in evernote, with over 600 notes, all tagged, is moved to trash! I'm pretty sure I didn't do it. It's my most active notebook, there's no reason for my to delete it. In fact, I don't even remember any of the notebooks I created. I hope someone can explain how this happened. I managed to restore the notes from trash, but all the tags are now gone.
  15. It would be nice if there were a way to automatically create a new notebook when emailing an email into Evernote using the "@[notebook]" command. Perhaps the command could be "!@[notebook]" to create a notebook that does not already exist. It would also be nice if it were possible to create a new tag when emailing an email in to Evernote using the "#[tag]" command, or "!#[tag]". When sharing a note to Evernote within iOS, it would be nice if there were a way not only to select the notebook it should be filed into, but also to create a new notebook, to select tags, and create new tags. I think that most people create new folders (notebooks) in their filing systems in response to new kinds of notes that need to be stored. When a new piece of information comes along that does not fit into the existing filing system, a new notebook needs to be created. It would be nice to be able to easily create a new notebook or tag from within a share menu, or within an email, without always needing to switch back into Evernote to do it.
  16. So I have been using Moleskine Evernote Notebooks for over a year now. During that time I changed positions within my company. So now I find I want to use my stickers for new notebooks and topics compared to my old ones. What will happen when I redefine/reallocate the stickers? Will the notes that were previously assigned notebooks and tags based on stickers be changed?
  17. I share a couple of notebooks with a small team of 3. We use these as a kind of knowledge base. It works pretty well. One problem scenario however, is that all of us have "read/write" access to these notebooks. I put some quite important info in there sometimes and in my testing, they are able to (accidentally?) delete a note and it does not wind up in my trash. It is simply purged from EN completely. Is this the way sharing is intended to work? I would much prefer if notes deleted from a shared notebook (by any user) wound up in the "Trash" folder. Any comments?
  18. Just from a brief review, it seems that everyone has the same questions, and they often raise them as they explore. I would imagine that this who answer can get impatient as the same questions pop up daily. Thanks in advance for your patience. I’ve been using Evernote for about 2-3 weeks. I’ve got a Macbook Pro and an iPhone 5. My initial model was to use a traditional unlimited hierarchy. I was initially concerned about 3 levels, but then questioned my mental model. Most all the stacks of papers on and around my desk (timberrrr) end up in two file drawers. Well, I could replicate that with two stacks. And it’s probably easier to find what I’m looking for online with a search. In my file cabinet, my auto insurance might be in an insurance folder, or a car folder….and was it filed under C for car insurance or I for Insurance-car? I can live with three layers. I may have to use search more than browse. Even in my first few weeks, I've reorganized. I expect I'll do more. Moving within a level is easy. But what about changing the document type from one level to another? Can I change a note to a notebook, and (I won't list the other five permutations). If not, how have others handled this? I know I can create a new empty document, copy the information than delete the original, but the extra steps seem unnecessary.
  19. I am working with Evernote on a Windows computer via the website. Trying to add a new note to an already existing stack. I can no longer find the option to "create a new note in this stack" on the website so when i make a new notebook it creates outside of the stack i want to put it in. i can't drag it to move it into the stack and the notebook or stack options do not give me the choice to move it to a stack either. any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
  20. Hello! As I've just written the web clipper extension started to duplicate every notebook, i.e. I got two notebooks with same content. If I delete manually evernote files in chrome folder it seems resolved but every time I restart chrome the issue appears again Can anyone help me? Thanks!
  21. 250 notebooks is not enough, I am finding myself having to delete notebooks and as a premium member the limit should be more like 500 or limitless Regards Rob
  22. Hi all! I just downloaded Evernote and the Chrome web clipper extension. I just created about 5 new notebooks to sort saved links of various categories, but for some reason only my first main notebook and my travel notebook show up as options in the Web Clipper extension. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't change anything. Anyone have any ideas? The tool is pretty much useless to me if I can't actually save things where I want them to go. Thanks!
  23. Hi! I am trying to obtain list of notes for my web app. I am using NoteStoreClient to obtain list on Notebooks then list of notes for every found notebook. Here is my method constucting the client (actually the client wrapper, but that is just implementation details): private DatesAwareNoteStoreClient fromAccessToken(EvernoteAccount evernoteAccount) throws TException, EDAMUserException, EDAMSystemException { // Set up the UserStore client and check that we can speak to the server synchronized (this) { EvernoteAuth evernoteAuth = new EvernoteAuth(EvernoteService.SANDBOX, evernoteAccount.getAccessToken()); evernoteAuth.setNoteStoreUrl(evernoteAccount.getNoteStoreUrl()); com.evernote.clients.ClientFactory factory = new com.evernote.clients.ClientFactory(evernoteAuth); // Set up the NoteStore client return new DatesAwareNoteStoreClient(factory.createNoteStoreClient()); } }All works fine, I'm getting access token before, constructing of NoteStoreClient goes succesfully. But when I'm calling listNotebooks() I get very odd for me error: [INFO] [talledLocalContainer] Exception in thread "http-bio-2990-exec-11" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at com.evernote.thrift.protocol.TBinaryProtocol.readStringBody(TBinaryProtocol.java:388)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at com.evernote.thrift.protocol.TBinaryProtocol.readMessageBegin(TBinaryProtocol.java:236)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at com.evernote.edam.notestore.NoteStore$Client.recv_listNotebooks(NoteStore.java:337)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at com.evernote.edam.notestore.NoteStore$Client.listNotebooks(NoteStore.java:322)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at com.evernote.clients.NoteStoreClient.listNotebooks(NoteStoreClient.java:173)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at com.room606.jira.activenotes.evernote.EvernoteManager.listNotesByQuery(EvernoteManager.java:130)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at com.room606.jira.activenotes.evernote.EvernoteManager.listNotes(EvernoteManager.java:117)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at com.room606.jira.activenotes.action.StartReindexAction.doReindex(StartReindexAction.java:79)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:597)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at webwork.util.InjectionUtils$DefaultInjectionImpl.invoke(InjectionUtils.java:70)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at webwork.util.InjectionUtils.invoke(InjectionUtils.java:56)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at webwork.action.ActionSupport.invokeCommand(ActionSupport.java:438)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at webwork.action.ActionSupport.execute(ActionSupport.java:157)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at com.atlassian.jira.action.JiraActionSupport.execute(JiraActionSupport.java:87)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at webwork.interceptor.DefaultInterceptorChain.proceed(DefaultInterceptorChain.java:39)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at webwork.interceptor.NestedInterceptorChain.proceed(NestedInterceptorChain.java:31)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at webwork.interceptor.ChainedInterceptor.intercept(ChainedInterceptor.java:16)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at webwork.interceptor.DefaultInterceptorChain.proceed(DefaultInterceptorChain.java:35)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at webwork.dispatcher.GenericDispatcher.executeAction(GenericDispatcher.java:225)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at webwork.dispatcher.GenericDispatcher.executeAction(GenericDispatcher.java:154)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at com.atlassian.jira.web.dispatcher.JiraWebworkActionDispatcher.service(JiraWebworkActionDispatcher.java:152)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:728)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:305)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.doFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:210)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at com.atlassian.jira.web.filters.steps.ChainedFilterStepRunner.doFilter(ChainedFilterStepRunner.java:87)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:243)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.doFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:210)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at com.atlassian.jira.web.filters.XContentTypeOptionsNoSniffFilter.doFilter(XContentTypeOptionsNoSniffFilter.java:22)[INFO] [talledLocalContainer] at com.atlassian.core.filters.AbstractHttpFilter.doFilter(AbstractHttpFilter.java:31)Here is my method causing original exception from stacktrace: private Map<Notebook, List<NoteEntry>> listNotesByQuery(String filterQuery) throws EDAMUserException, EDAMSystemException, TException, EDAMNotFoundException { // First, get a list of all notebooks List<Notebook> notebooks = datesAwareNoteStoreClient.getClient().listNotebooks(); Would love to pay if ...

I want to use evernote to create an RPG world. In a real world there are objects. Objects have a number of characteristics that are made up of other objects. For instance a wizard is a person object, item is an item object, spells are spell objects and quests that he completes are a quest object. To organize all these different objects requires a logical file system. For the item object I would create an ITEM notbook. I would like to nest in that item notbook: ARMOR, CLOTHING, EQUIPMENT, WEAPONS, TREASURE and TOOLS. Then in the ARMOR notebook I would like to have the notebooks: LEATHER, STUDDED, SCALE, CHAIN and PLATE. By having this ability to organize in such a way, I would be able to store and find items, people, spells, quests, etc. easily. Is there a simple way to accomplish this or am i going to have to program this myself on my website and call it CLEVERNOTE? Thanks for all responses. Best Regards, Bryan
  25. I am not able to move my notes to a specific notebook in the web beta. If i am using web beta, can i go back to current version of evernote?
