  1. Apologies if this was already discussed somewhere, but I can't seem to find it anywhere so here goes: Just recently, my laptop's hard drive crashed, and I attempted to save my system files by copying over my Library to an external drive. Attempting to restore my "current" Evernote onto my new drive (by pasting the old Library) worked out fine, however the long list of notes I had stored in the "quick-note"/clipper (on the toolbar) seems to have disappeared, and I don't know where I can recover it — actually, is there a way to recover what was written in the quick-note/clipper? Was there a backup made somewhere? I've located a file named "quick-note-preserved.obj", but I can't seem to open it with anything. Do I have to import it somewhere? If it helps, I'm a macbook pro user, and the application was downloaded from the "app store" on this laptop. Thanks for your help TT.TT Just any way to view the information will do....
  2. Hi there, I am finding Evernote for Mac extremely useful, but there is one issue which is problematic for me. When I drag a PDF into a note, it always zooms to fill the window. When I right-click on it I see that "Automatically resize" is selected. When I change that to "actual size" the PDF goes back to its proper size. I would like "actual size" to be the default setting for all added PDFs. Is there a way to set this as a default?
  3. I remember previous versions of Skitch having a way to prevent the "Created with Skitch - http://evernote.com/skitch"message being appended in the body of the email when you share a Skitch with someone. I don't see any way to keep that from being added every time. Am I missing something or is Evernote forcing me to do extra work if I don't want my email to advertise their product?
  4. Hi Folks, Evernote for Mac 7.11 is now available to download. You can get it here. Fixes and Improvements: Fixed a data migration error that some users encountered after upgrading to 7.10 Fixed an issue where Evernote helper displayed null as keyboard shortcut. Fixed an issue where a recorded audio note that was shared via email would not play in MacOS Mail Fixed an issue where EvernoteSpotlight prompted for a password Enjoy!
  5. Hi Here we see a list of keyboard shortcuts for Evernote for Mac. Each note can have a URL associated with it, visible in its Note Info, then you can click on "View Site" to open that URL. I think it would be useful if that primary hyperlink could also be opened by using a keyboard shortcut when focused on the note in a list view or (particularly) when editing it. I ran a check and couldn't see this having been discussed or implemented yet.
  6. I'm beginning to use Evernote Clipper to save my bookmarks, but was looking for a way to import my existing bookmarks from Chrome, without having to clip every. single. one. I don't really know how to code, so Applescript, etc. was out for me. But I figured out this work around. It requires signign up for a few things, but once you're done, you're done! and the import is quick. Note: This is a crude import system. You may not get pictures imported with the links, or tags automatically added (other then from what you set in IFTTT). It's quick and dirty, but gets the job done. Also, this will probably work with services other than Pocket, that's just the one I already an account with. In your browser, export your bookmarks into an HTML file. Login or create account at getpocket.com (we'll come back to this, but you need a Pocket account setup before the next step) Login or create account at IFTTT.com Create new recipe: IF...Pocket...Any New Item... THEN...Evernote...Create New Link Note... (Fill in settings as you want. I add the tag ".Bookmark" for easy sorting later) Go to: http://getpocket.com/import/delicious Under "2. Import your bookmarks", Upload your HTML file from Step 1 Click "Import" Wait for the magical elves in the cloud to do their work. It will take longer for the more bookmarks you have, but is still way less than doing this all manually. Now all your old bookmarks are in the same place as your new ones, as you add with Clipper. You can choose to go back through and organize with notebooks and tags as you like. If you're not familiar with IFTTT, I recommend it for other actions, like adding Facebook posts and photos to your Evernote.
  7. Can Evernote please fix the long term problem whereby a problem occurs after annotating an image? The problem is that, after the annotation is finished and the editing window is closed, the user is taken to the very beginning of the note INSTEAD of returning to the point where the user was actively working on the document, i.e., the point in the note where the annotated image is located. The ongoing bug is a serious impediment to the workflow of an individual. Imaging working on an image that is several pages long and being taken back to the top of a note every single time you annotate an image.
  8. Recently did some software updates on my Mac, and Evernote no longer opens up. I have the latest versions of everything. I uninstalled and reinstalled Evernote. Any ideas how to fix this? The few forum topics I saw the problems just resolved itself.
  9. Hi, please consider renaming a notebook by right clicking in the sidebar.
  10. There was a golden era for a few months, maybe even a year, when Evernote's text formatting was pretty solid, but now the extraneous line breaks have returned. It makes using Evernote with any other text-accepting program incredibly frustrating. I haven't been able to find a solid repro path, but I have found that in notes that have nothing but text, and which have no formatting of any kind, sometimes when I copy/paste the text from Evernote into other apps there will be extraneous line breaks. There will frequently be an extra line break above the first line of the note, and sometimes extra line breaks are inserted randomly in between lines of text. They aren't inserted mid-sentence, they are always inserted where there is a line break. It's as if you hit Enter twice when starting a new line, not just once. In my experience, this is 100% caused by Evernote. I have tested it with numerous other text-handling apps, and Evernote is always the culprit. Here's a probably-not-comprehensive list of other apps that interoperate perfectly with each other, but not with simple text from Evernote: FirefoxNotesTabPagesScrivenerSparrowTextEditUnity3D EditorI have notes that look correct in Evernote (i.e. no extraneous line breaks) that will have line breaks if I copy them into any of the above programs. The text always looks right in Evernote and is always busted in the same way in any other app I paste it into. If I recreate the exact same text in any of the programs above and paste them into any of the other programs above, the integrity of the text is preserved perfectly. It seems that Evernote still doesn't have a clean text formatting engine, and that there are some non-standard ways it handles text for itself that are incompatible with the rest of the text formatting world. It's super frustrating not to be able to rely on WYSIWYG formatting. Despite all of the features that have been piled into Evernote over the years, it is a text-based program. The first thing you see when you create a note is a blank text note with a blinking cursor. It's disappointing that after years of struggles, Evernote still doesn't have acceptable text handling for basic, raw, formatting-free text. I'm using Evernote 5.2.1 on Mac and Evernote 5.4.3 on an iPad 2 and iPhone 5. I wouldn't be surprised if these extra line breaks were introduced in notes that have been edited by multiple Evernote clients.
  11. How can I disable this systematic warning ? "Change access. You are moving a note into "[NotebookName]". People this notebook is shared with will gain access to the note." Since the last version, every time I move a note to a shared notebook, I get this message. Only way to dismiss it is to click on "Move". Since I clip my notes first in my inbox, and then move them to whichever notebook is relevant - and all of my notebooks are shared, I get this warning literally all the time. This is both useless and annoying. It should have been pretty simple and pretty obvious to add a checkbox "don't warn again for this notebook". I'm a plus member with OSX + evernote 7.0.3.
  12. I reported this bug to tech support a couple of weeks ago and so far no resolution. When I try to drag an unannotated screenshot from Skitch to another application, or just to a finder window, one of two things happens: Skitch crashes, or The previous screenshot is dragged instead of the one I just took. Anyone else seeing this?
  13. Hi there, Evernote for Mac 7.10 is now available to our users on direct download. Mac App Store's release is on its way! You can download 7.10 here. Your notes will now load even faster. Like, “Wow, that’s fast” fast. If you’d had the nagging feeling that something was missing, you were right: Your notes had stopped appearing in Spotlight Search. But we fixed it, so any existential angst should be easing soon.
  14. I have searched for days now and failed to find anything that tells me how to limit a search to the notebooks in one stack. When I use the Search box, it does not give 'Stack' as an option. Is there a Search syntax that allows me to restrict the search? I have not found it if it is there. Please help!!
  15. BUG Report: EN Mac 7.10 -- Excessive CPU% & Slowdown After Moving Notes to Another Notebook After I moved ~4,500 notes to a different Notebook (NB #2), Evernote 7.10 usability went to about ZERO! CPU usage went to 100%+ for > 1 hour It was syncing continuously, but ONLY uploading -- It did NOT download any of the new Notes I had created via Chrome Web Clipper AFTER the move notes When I would change the selected NB to the NB #2 (or any other NB), after 30 sec the note list still had not updated so show the notes in it. All I did is to change the NB -- this should be a very fast and simple database update! I am running a brand new 2019 iMac with 512 SSD, 40GB RAM, 3.6GHz i9 (8 cores) processor!!! I will submit a formal bug report shortly via the Evernote Support web site. Screenshot:
  16. Whenever I use the desktop client (since upgrading to Evernote Business) I get this screen (see attached) when returning to the app from a different space. This happens on full screen mode as well. You can only view your notes by clicking in the toolbar at the top. I use Evernote quite a lot (enough to pay for the Business version) and typically have it open and running my entire day. Restarting the app does nothing and I am running the latest version. This is very irritating, am I the only one seeing this?
  17. I was just working on a note today and I was typing on the last line of the note and when I got to the end the text did goto the next line however I was still typing on the bottom of the page. Basically my question is can this be fixed in the program to always allow a little white space between the last line and the window frame when typing? Shift the text up and give a buffer. I wish I could describe this better, but having the text scroll up one line earlier would be a solution. Attached is a photo showing this. Capture.tiff
  18. I'm pretty sure this used to work, but now when i open a note i no longer see the images, in see download links for them. I'm running evernote app on my mac, the latest version - (Version 7.0 (456218 Direct) Editor: 1.38.3824 (68bd1c0)
  19. What is this red circle with a number and how do I get it to go away?
  20. Evernote Mac on Mojave -- Anyone have any version running well? I'm getting closer to being ready to upgrade from macOS Sierra to Mojave. Currently I'm running Evernote 6.11.1 (455059) on macOS 10.12.6. Does anyone have any version of Evernote Mac that runs well on Mojave? If you do, but still have some issues, please list the issues. Thanks.
  21. I've been waiting for Evernote to add this feature for years. This is what I would love: 1. A button within the note that enables full-screen mode. This mode removes EVERYTHING except the words. Moving your mouse will make editing tools visible. 2. Full-Screen Mode also has margin and line-height functionality. That's it! Please Evernote! Please make this change to our desktop app!
  22. Does anyone know how to collapse a PDF that you insert into a note? When you insert a PDF it opens up the entire document which means you may have to scan through 40 pages before you can get to text below the PDF you inserted into your note.
  23. Evernote won't open full height. I always have to maximize it / fit to screen (height and width) manually every single time I open it. Evernote seems to ignore my fit-to-screen preferences. I noted it a few months ago but only now I'm reporting the bug. Is this happening only to me?
  24. I'm using Evernote for GTD. When I finish a task it represents a single note with multiple associated tags. I'd like to be able to drag completed notes into a notebook called "Completed" and then remove all tags from that note. It would be nice to do that as a batch. So, each day I could go into the "Completed" notebook, selected all the notes and have all tags associations deleted from those notes. Hope that is clear. I've searched and cannot find an answer. I realize I could just delete the notes but I'd like to track what I've accomplished.
  25. Hi, I use evernote to keep track of bash commands for my Mac and Linux. They contain lots of -- and " and ' which need to be preserved exactly as I write them, cannot be transormed in nicer quotes or nicer dashes. Even if I make the note plain text Evernote keeps changing -- into — and " into ” which I hate so much. Is there a way to switch off completely this beautify of the text?
