  1. A recent update moved icons from the header bar. Users want the choice of which icons appear. This is currently a feature on the Windows platform
  2. I searched online extensively before posting (including posts in this forum). I can't seem to figure out how to hide the notes list that appears in between the shortcut/sidebar and the actual note body -- I can change the location or style of the list using the icon on the top right / immediately left of the actual note input body -- card view, expanded card view, snippet view, etc. but I can't actually find out how to hide this panel! I am using Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) and Evernote 5.5.1. A previous forum post here said OSX Lion had a 'hide favorites' option which hid this panel but I do not see this option on any menu items. It is very hard to use the software with the side panel always present because (a) it takes up 1/3rd of the window, ( I can't pull up notes with a work colleague sitting next to me because some private notes are displayed in the side panel (obviously, I could show a different folder of notes in the panel but it is too annoying to have to think about this every time), and © it is very distracting and actually hard to work when you see a huge list of notes in your peripheral vision that you can't get rid of unless you move the note you are working on into a separate window. Why is there not a simple show/hide panel widget icon? If there is, am I missing it? Please help.. great software but I can't use it like this!
  3. Hi, I use evernote to keep track of bash commands for my Mac and Linux. They contain lots of -- and " and ' which need to be preserved exactly as I write them, cannot be transormed in nicer quotes or nicer dashes. Even if I make the note plain text Evernote keeps changing -- into — and " into ” which I hate so much. Is there a way to switch off completely this beautify of the text?
  4. This may or may not be related to the overall issues we see with ScanSnap's Sierra problems however is anyone having a 'separate" issue when scanning to EN from ScanSnap where the EN icon stays in the Dock and then gives this error: "failed to startup EverNote for Mac"? Only happens when scanning to PDF or JPG into EN. I can workaround by scanning into DropBox or other, and then moving the PDF into EN.
  5. I used to think my iMac had an incredibly crappy built-in microphone, but I'd never used it for anything other than Evernote voice recordings. It sounded so bad (semi-garbled, a complete lack of sensitivity) I thought the microphone had debris in it, obscuring the recording. It wasn't until I downloaded another recording app and did a test that I realized it's simply Evernote setting a bit rate so low (16kbps? 8 kbps?) that the audio sounds like it's being recorded on a faulty microphone. Why exactly am I paying for a a Plus membership again? PLEASE increase the bit rate of audio recordings so they are actually useful!
  6. Are You Having AppleScript Issues with Recent Versions of Evernote Mac? If you are having any issues with AppleScripts that used to work, but have stopped working as of Ver 7+, please post your script and a detailed description of the issue(s) here. It is best to post scripts using either the code block tool, or in an attached zip file. Please make sure you do not have any personal or sensitive information in your script before posting. Background As some of you know, I am an avid user and avid fan of AppleScript. I have many AppleScripts that use Evernote that are essential to my daily workflows. As a result I am still holding on Evernote 6.11.1 (455059) on macOS 10.12.6. I can't upgrade to any later version until I know that my essential AppleScripts will work. So I propose that we all work together to provide the Evernote Dev team a single thread to identify, and hopefully, fix AppleScript issues. I hope Evernote will put some resources on this as part of their rework of the Evernote foundation, because AppleScript is a very powerful tool to extend and customize Evernote (and all apps) by each user. Evernote Mac already has a good foundation, it is just fallen in disrepair in recent years as Evernote made changes to the app, but failed to make the corresponding changes to the scripting model. IAC, I am glad to work with the Evernote community to share and develop workarounds to any AppleScript issues we identify until Evernote has a chance to publish the fix. I have a backup/test Mac that I am going to upgrade to Ver 7.10+ to test my existing AppleScripts, as well as test scripts posted by others. Although I have not published any AppleScripts recently, I do have a number of scripts posted in GitHub Gists: • AppleScripts Published by JMichaelTX (GitHubGists) Thanks for your support to get AppleScript issues resolved.
  7. Hi everyone, For those of you who have experienced this issue, the fix will be included in beta 2 of Evernote Mac version 6.11. You can update to the beta track using the steps here: For those of you that do not want to update to the beta, the recommended workaround is to right click on the PDF in the note, select Open with... > Preview, then select and copy your desired text from the PDF. Feel free to let me know here if you have any questions!
  8. 1. I'm new to this forum. 2. I haven't used Evernote for a few weeks. Maybe 2-3 months. 3. I get this when I open it: "The last time you opened Evernote, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?" I click "reopen" I get "Problem report for Evernote" I send it, I get "Evernote quit unexpectedly" Click "reopen" I go back to "The last time you opened Evernote, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?" And I then go round and round in circles. Have restarted my Mac. Doesn't help. I rather think that others may have come across this problem. Can anybody advise me, please? Thanks.
  9. When you click on a note from Shortcuts, or Recent Notes, in the latest Beta, the note now opens in a new window rather than in the main frame of the application. I have no idea why you would have implemented this, so is there any chance we could go back to the old solution?
  10. Tab and indentation support is something that is terribly missing in Evernote for Mac (including the beta). It shocks me that tabs can be pasted in, synced from other devices and all, but alas, there is no way to create proper tabs in Evernote for mac. It wouldn't be such a problem except that when you go to reduce the indentation for a line, you have to delete tons of spaces. For me this is a big flaw that needs resolution soon.
  11. In Preferences allow users to define their own date formats, or include every imaginable format. I use yyyy-mm-dd extensively and would love to make it my default date format.
  12. The underline function for Mac is buggy. I've been using Evernote for years now, but I'm getting a bit annoyed with the underline function. Using the keyboard shortcut for underline (ctrl+u), it works when turning it on, but turning underline off doesn't work. When you start a go to the next line (press enter/return) and turn off underline function doesn't work. And even after turning it off on the bar, when you press tab, it turns on again it leaves an underlined area where you tab... It's starting to becoming annoying especially if you're at a university, trying to keep note organized while trying to type fast to keep up with the professor... Somebody, Please Fix It!!! Mac Details: MacOS High Sierra (10.13.3) MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2012) Evernote Version 7.1 + Clipper.
  13. This seems really basic, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to change the text's font in Skitch. What am I missing?
  14. On Mac and iOS, for documents with many Skitch annotations, the annotation summary presents as a single page that includes only the first ~20 annotations. Is this a known problem?
  15. Hello folks, Evernote for Mac 7.9 is now available for download. You can get it by updating your app or click here. Fixes and Improvements: If you copied something from Evernote to another editor, all the line and paragraph breaks you placed so lovingly would just disappear. Since our parents taught us to play well with others, we fixed that. Printing a note with tables is fun, right? (OK, maybe that’s just us—we’re kind of geeky). It’s not fun when the table borders don’t print. We thought so too, so we fixed it.
  16. Since the last two weeks aprox the Outlook addin for Mac (Office365) dosn´t work as before. It creates notes in the correct folder but do not assign the tags as it should be. No tags are transferred to the evernote note from Outlook.I tried using existing tags but the note is created in evernote without any tag. The note is created with the attachments and everything but not tags at all.anyone having the same issues? any idea? thanks
  17. I'm aware of the availability of text statistics for an entire note. However, working on CFPs and other types of documents, I want to check the number of characters or words for a specific paragraph or title section for example, not the entire note which may have revisions and buffer text. Currently I open Word, copy and paste, then get the statistics there, which is daft.
  18. I was just working on a note today and I was typing on the last line of the note and when I got to the end the text did goto the next line however I was still typing on the bottom of the page. Basically my question is can this be fixed in the program to always allow a little white space between the last line and the window frame when typing? Shift the text up and give a buffer. I wish I could describe this better, but having the text scroll up one line earlier would be a solution. Attached is a photo showing this. Capture.tiff
  19. Are there any plans to add inline code block (like Markdown's `inline code block`)?
  20. Hi Community / Dev's Having the following issue with my build; Evernote for Mac; OS Ver: 10.13.3; Evernote Build: 6.13.1 When I start my computer I have the Evernote helper load automatically - so the elephant icon is at the top right after the computer starts, the issue is as follows: If I type anything into the helper and hit 'save to Evernote' - then go to my Evernote and look for it - it's not there... BUT If I create a note from within Evernote - all of the notes that were supposed to be saved from the helper suddenly appear. Bug? Settings Problem? Fix? Thanks in advance!
  21. I would like to request a feature that would allow me to move items in a list up or down and the numbers adjust accordingly. Basically, it would help in prioritizing list items. In a Word outline you can use Shift-Control Up/Down arrow to move items around. It is very handy and would take EN lists up a notch. Thanks for considering it! Wayne
  22. OK, I've skimmed through a bunch of posts in this forum but am still confused and may have missed something: Is it possible to create a link from an EN note to an email in Mac Mail? I know there are applescripts and other solutions for importing entire emails but I want to create a single note that has links to multiple different emails. Snow Leopard already has support for the "message://" URL format. Just can't figure out how to use it in EN. The ideas is that I can create a ToDo item that says something like "Respond to Ryan's email about the website" where clicking on the text brings up that email so that I can respond! Relatively new to EN, so apologies if I missed something obvious.
  23. How can I disable this systematic warning ? "Change access. You are moving a note into "[NotebookName]". People this notebook is shared with will gain access to the note." Since the last version, every time I move a note to a shared notebook, I get this message. Only way to dismiss it is to click on "Move". Since I clip my notes first in my inbox, and then move them to whichever notebook is relevant - and all of my notebooks are shared, I get this warning literally all the time. This is both useless and annoying. It should have been pretty simple and pretty obvious to add a checkbox "don't warn again for this notebook". I'm a plus member with OSX + evernote 7.0.3.
  24. Hi, I dropped a shared notebook that I was following, and have noticed that I still have a couple of tags from it remaining in my Tag View. This is the only place they exist. They are not in The Tag List in the sidebar My Evernote web account Either of my iOS device clients Things I have tried: Right-click and select Delete Tag (I get a dialog saying that I can't because it's in a Shared notebook) Drag the tag to the Trash (Adds the tag to my Shortcuts) Select the tag and press Backspace (No effect) Select the tag and press Delete (No effect) Create a temporary tag, drag the unwanted tags to it so that they're nested and then delete the parent tag (Deletes the parent and puts the unwanted tags back where they were) Close and restart Evernote and repeat all of the above (Same results) Close all instances of Evernote (Desktop, web, and iOS), restart Desktop and repeat all of the above (Same results) Sign out of Evernote, sign in again and repeat all of the above (Same results) Search the forums and web for suggestions (Found all of the above, but nothing useful unless I was using a Windows client. And a statement that this would be fixed in "an upcoming update" which was a year old.) The only thing I haven't done (which I know would fix it) is to rename my database and download it from the server again. (I have no Local notebooks) I'm reluctant to do this due to the sheer size of the database and the time and bandwidth it would take. Plus this seems a rather nuclear option for an issue that, frankly, shouldn't have occurred in the first place if Evernote removed shared notebooks correctly. Have I missed anything that might work? Or is this yet another known bug that is being ignored while they mess around with the interface repeatedly? Thanks, Stephen
  25. I'd like to see a much easier method for cleaning up my old / neglected reminders at once. Perhaps a 'Select All' and 'Remove Reminders' option would do. My reminders function is virtually useless due to the thousands of un-cleared reminders that are clogging it up.
