  1. Hi, I dropped a shared notebook that I was following, and have noticed that I still have a couple of tags from it remaining in my Tag View. This is the only place they exist. They are not in The Tag List in the sidebar My Evernote web account Either of my iOS device clients Things I have tried: Right-click and select Delete Tag (I get a dialog saying that I can't because it's in a Shared notebook) Drag the tag to the Trash (Adds the tag to my Shortcuts) Select the tag and press Backspace (No effect) Select the tag and press Delete (No effect) Create a temporary tag, drag the unwanted tags to it so that they're nested and then delete the parent tag (Deletes the parent and puts the unwanted tags back where they were) Close and restart Evernote and repeat all of the above (Same results) Close all instances of Evernote (Desktop, web, and iOS), restart Desktop and repeat all of the above (Same results) Sign out of Evernote, sign in again and repeat all of the above (Same results) Search the forums and web for suggestions (Found all of the above, but nothing useful unless I was using a Windows client. And a statement that this would be fixed in "an upcoming update" which was a year old.) The only thing I haven't done (which I know would fix it) is to rename my database and download it from the server again. (I have no Local notebooks) I'm reluctant to do this due to the sheer size of the database and the time and bandwidth it would take. Plus this seems a rather nuclear option for an issue that, frankly, shouldn't have occurred in the first place if Evernote removed shared notebooks correctly. Have I missed anything that might work? Or is this yet another known bug that is being ignored while they mess around with the interface repeatedly? Thanks, Stephen
  2. I'd like to see a much easier method for cleaning up my old / neglected reminders at once. Perhaps a 'Select All' and 'Remove Reminders' option would do. My reminders function is virtually useless due to the thousands of un-cleared reminders that are clogging it up.
  3. I can say for certainty (having just tried) that this works in windows 10 but not on Mac OS X. Please can this feature be added to the Mac version?
  4. Hi Folks, Evernote for Mac 7.9 Beta 1 is now available for download. You can get it here. Fixes and Improvement: Small improvements to the client. Known issues: Empty lines are eliminated when copying and pasting. Spotlight search in macOS Mojave doesn't work. Text appears fuzzy on non retina displays. Please continue sending us your feedback. Enjoy!
  5. Hello Beta testers, Evernote for Mac 7.9 Beta 2 is now available for download. You can get it here. Fixes and Improvements: Fixed an issue where notes with tables would print without table borders. Fixed an issue where copying text from Evernote and pasting it in a third party app or website would remove blank lines. Known issues: Spotlight search in macOS Mojave doesn't work. Text appears fuzzy on non retina displays. Please continue sending us your feedback. Enjoy!
  6. Hello all, hope you are well. This idea is truly for Evernote as a whole, not particularly just for Mac, however I primarily use it on Mac so I have posted this here. It would be very useful to hide certain notes or entire notebooks from appearing in 'All Notes'. For example, I often write letters in Evernote, but once they are done, I do not wish to see them when I am browsing through unfinished projects as they are completed. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance and have a good one!
  7. Sometimes we all think about our tagging behaviour and this sometimes results in editing, assigning or deleting tags from a number of existing notes. In such a case, the edit date of those notes will immediately be changed. This seems obvious, but it might get a bit cumbersome, e.g. when I delete a tag on 50 existing notes, I don't necessarily want to change the edit date of those notes, because this action has nothing to do with the note itself, but rather with my decision to re-consider my tagging behavior. This is why I'd love to see an option to assign or delete tags from notes without this resulting in changed edit dates.
  8. Hey folks, Evernote 7.7 is now available to download. You can get it here. Please continue to share your experience and feedback. Improved: You said you love Dark Mode, so we're polishing it up to make it even better. We made a few tweaks under the hood so you can now type faster than ever. We've made it easier to see if something isn't right when creating notebooks. We don't like error messages any more than you, but wouldn't you rather know? So, you like centering text? We brought back the keyboard shortcut to make it easier for you. Now when you export notes as a backup, it won't include the ones in the trash. Because you probably trashed them for a reason, right? Fixed: We took care of a few annoying issues with Dark Mode. Known issues: Spotlight search not working for Mojave users Text appears fuzzy on non retina displays.
  9. What about for mac users? I can't find any way to do a find-and-replace on a Mac.
  10. Currently, tabs are marked with the name of the open note's notebook. However, I would find it much more useful to have the tab name be the note name. Otherwise I end up flipping through all my tabs to find the correct note anyway.
  11. I have the Outlook plugin installed (v16.10) and activated the Evernote plugin in O365. When I use the plugin to create a note from a mail, the tags are not assigned to the note (this works fine in the O365 online version, just not in the local desktop version) Any hints? Thanks Luc
  12. Relatively new to Evernote Mac OS Lion 10.7.5 , Evernote 5.2.0 I am looking to buy Awesome Note app for iphone, which syncs with Evernote, and came today to look again at Evernote. Launched on my Mac desktop today and every 10 seconds I get error message: "Please check your internet connection or try again later" I don't know what to do to fix this. I can't find this topic answered here on the forum Thanks, Etana
  13. Is there a way to make the default Mac family of fonts available for formatting, rather than their Windows cousins. For example, I'm not a big fan of Arial, I'd prefer to use Helvetica to format my notes, but it's not available to me in the drop-down menu.
  14. Hello, I was just messing around for changing the default font on Evernote v6.0.5 on Yosemite. I clicked on preferences then the formatting tab & then on the note text bar. I was successful in setting it but then I found a new option. The option to change the colour of the font & I guess the background too. The problem is that when I selected the colour of my choice there's no effect whatsoever. I've tried restarting my Mac, restarting evernote but nothing happens & the colours go back to normal after I reopen evernote again. Please check the images attached. Hope you guys could give a solution. I really want to change the BG & font colur. Thanks
  15. Apologies if this was already discussed somewhere, but I can't seem to find it anywhere so here goes: Just recently, my laptop's hard drive crashed, and I attempted to save my system files by copying over my Library to an external drive. Attempting to restore my "current" Evernote onto my new drive (by pasting the old Library) worked out fine, however the long list of notes I had stored in the "quick-note"/clipper (on the toolbar) seems to have disappeared, and I don't know where I can recover it — actually, is there a way to recover what was written in the quick-note/clipper? Was there a backup made somewhere? I've located a file named "quick-note-preserved.obj", but I can't seem to open it with anything. Do I have to import it somewhere? If it helps, I'm a macbook pro user, and the application was downloaded from the "app store" on this laptop. Thanks for your help TT.TT Just any way to view the information will do....
  16. Hello, this is my first time on any forum, but I have a question. Somehow I deleted the text from one of my notes (must have absent mindedly selected it the accidentally hit enter). Of course, it synched (i.e. eliminated!) everywhere! At any rate, I want that text. As I deleted text, not the note, it is not in the trash anywhere. I tried to search/follow other web searches, and "found" the evernote data back up from a day ago (no easy task!!). But even going back in time does not seem to recover the text from that note. Is synch retroactive? Is there no way to restore the state of that note to a prior time when the text was present?? If there is a way, can you give me a step by step broken down for a 3rd grader? Remember, the note still exists, it is just blank. Thank you for any help/insight you can provide. If I am SOL then give me the bad news, and I can start to try to rebuild, however, this really panics me as I have some critical information on some notes that could be catastrophic is I cannot go back in time. (should I go to manual synch?). Help.
  17. Evernote for Mac 7.8 is now available and you can download it here. New: You told us you love Templates, so we’ve made it even easier for you to use them. Now you can view our gallery of templates—plus any you’ve saved—right inside the app. Just click on the “Template” button when you create a new note to see them all. Oh yeah, you know we’re doin’ our happy dance. FYI, they look great with Dark Mode too.
  18. Striking through text is too much of a pain. I am using the latest version of the Mac desktop software.
  19. The windows version of Evernote has the strikethrough option on the main task bar, but on the Mac version the fastest way requires you to click through some menus. This would really speed things up.
  20. If I make a bulleted list in Evernote then try to copy and paste it into Microsoft Word the formatting goes all wonky. The bullets lose their hierarchy in Word (they all appear left justified) though they still maintain their style. There is no simple way to remedy this. This undermines Evernote's role in Office-related workflows. Add onto this the recent dramatic loss of privacy which allows Evernote employees to read my notes and it may be time to just switch to OneNote. Even if you paste it as unformatted text it still includes hyphens at the start of every line. Any way to get a bulleted list to be formatted correctly when pasting into Microsoft Word and other MS products?
  21. Hi, is there a way to copy from either the web or word without pulling across the formatting. Spend a lot of my time copying into notepad then into Evernote. Must be a quicker way.
  22. Recent versions of the Evernote Mac client no longer automatically display tiff image files that are attached to notes. Instead of displaying the image, there is the icon for an attached file with a name like "Pasted Graphic 14.tiff". The web client does not have this problem.
  23. I don't attach a lot of documents to my notes, but I've attached a few pdfs, and they usually show up in the note fulltext, so you can read them without opening them. I dragged a Word document into a note yesterday (a syllabus for one of my classes) and since then, every time I try to quit the program I get an error that says "A file attachment may be currently open in another application." Word is open on my machine, but the file isn't. The attachment shows up in the note as an icon, not the actual text of the document (I can quick-look it, but that's all). I did a forum search and only found one thread from someone who said the error started appearing when he tried to close EN once while the file actually WAS open in another application -- it wasn't clear whether he ever solved the problem. I'd like the stop getting the error, and also to see the document's text in the note. Any ideas?
  24. The "Tool Size" feature seems to have no effect on the size of stamps. I am trying to markup screenshots of charts and graphs, and since the stamps are set to an obnoxiously large size, it makes it virtually impossible to use them in this way. They would be an awesome tool for what I'm trying to do (e.g., making flashcards with the "?" stamp) but until I can make them a lot smaller it's just not going to happen =/ Is there a way to change the size of stamps? (If not, there definitely ought to be!) Thanks!
  25. Improvements: * We’ve cleaned up the More Options menu (“…”) so it’s easier to find the actions you use most. * To make upgrading effortless, we added a button to the toolbar. We promise it won’t bite, but don’t worry, you can always remove it if you’d prefer. * Since we recently changed our appearance (does this color make our sidebar look big?), we tweaked our background colors to match. Fixes: * We fixed a problem where you wouldn’t see a note snippet if the note hadn’t synced properly. * If you had more than one line of text highlighted when you tried to remove a link, all the links in the note would disappear. We’ll admit, that was taking things too far. * Now and then, loading web views would cause a crash, but we fixed that. * Sometimes, annotating a PDF would cause a crash, which was a big fail. * The app would sometimes crash when checking for updates. Since updates are healthy, we put a stop to that. * Pasting into a numbered or bulleted list would remove the list text between any images. This was less than ideal, but on the bright side, we fixed it. * The app was forgetting your Shared with Me column widths after you closed it, which is probably not what you expected. * Shared notebooks weren’t showing up in your Shared with Me list. And notebooks deserve love too. * Triple-clicking one line of copy pasted in front of text on another line would break the list. But that’s a thing of the past. * If you added Japanese characters to a bulleted list, the formatting would look weird, which was unfortunate. * If you had 2-byte characters in a table (for example, Chinese or Japanese characters), adding a bullet point would break the table. And only WWE wrestlers should be allowed to break tables. * Underlining couldn’t be removed from text in a table, which wasn’t helpful. * Turning bold text off then pasting something into a list would turn bold back on. We really like bold, but that’s taking things too far. * If you pasted bulleted lists separated by paragraphs from Word into Evernote, the gaps would disappear. You could say it was a big mess. * Pasting data from Excel into Evernote needed a table upgrade, but there was no way for you to do it. That was an embarrassing oversight on our part. * Pasting text into Evernote from a coding text editor messed up the formatting, but it should be smooth sailing now. * Occasionally, changes you made to a note, including moving it to a different notebook, wouldn’t sync. Things should be back to normal now though. * Occasionally, dragging a note from a space to the trash folder would cause the app to crash, but that’s no more.
