  1. It used to be that when I searched something in Spotlight, the results included my Evernote notes. That's no longer the case, at least using the latest release of Yosemite and Evernote. Is this an acknowledged bug in Evernote, something on the Apple side or just me?
  2. In the past I would regularly click "control > copy note link" on a note that I wanted to link to, then slect a bit of text in another note that I wanted to internally link to that first note. Unfortunately, Evernote now pastes the web link for the note I'm trying to link to rather than the internal link. After reading about what seems to be a behavior change in Evernote, I'm not sure what I can do. I know that if I simply paste the note link (instead of attempting to turn a selection of text into a hyperlink), Evernote pastes the name of the note I'm trying to link to as well as an internal link, but nothing I've tried alws me to retain an internal link when converting a text selection into a hyperlink... which is what I'm after. Does that make sense? Is there a way around?
  3. Often, when filling out web forms, a section will contain several paragraphs. Before submitting a form, I like to save the text in case I need to refer to it later. So, in Safari, I'll select all and copy, then switch to Evernote and paste. But when I do so, all paragraph or line-break info is stripped from the text, resulting in everything getting pasted as one, large block. This happens whether pasting manually (⌘V) or using Clip to Evernote (⌃⌘V). I'd have to classify this as a bug. If the copied text contains paragraphs, they should remain intact in Evernote. I'd love to see this fixed. :-)
  4. Hello Two bugs with file:// URLs. First, backslashes make them completely break. Second, even without backslashes, they don't work. I get "does not have permission." I want to include a link to a file on my hard drive in one of my notes. The path to the file is the following: /Volumes/2\ TB\ SSD\ external/current_projects_SSD/Performing\ Arts/comedy/breaking-comedys-dna_\(v.1.4.4\).pdf When I copy this path into Evernote I see that the '\' characters get turned into HTML "%5C" codes. So I right click on some tex and select "Link-->Add..." and add this: file:///Volumes/2\ TB\ SSD\ external/current_projects_SSD/Performing\ Arts/comedy/breaking-comedys-dna_\(v.1.4.4\).pdf I then click "OK". If I then right click on the text and do "Link--> Edit..." the link has been changed to: file:///Volumes/2%5C%20TB%5C%20SSD%5C%20external/current_projects_SSD/Performing%5C%20Arts/comedy/breaking-comedys-dna_%5C(v.1.4.4%5C).pdf As you can see, the backslashes are preserved here. It should look like this: file:///Volumes/2%20TB%20SSD%20external/current_projects_SSD/Performing%20Arts/comedy/breaking-comedys-dna_(v.1.4.4).pdf If I make these changes, removing the '%5C' characters, then it gives me this error: The application “Evernote” does not have permission to open “breaking-comedys-dna_(v.1.4.4).pdf.” Can Evernote be fixed to work on Mac with file paths? Thanks.
  5. I have over 300 notes that I had in Mac’s Address Book, and a friend helped me massage and clean up, finally getting them into Apple’s spreadsheet program, Numbers. Figured that was the end of the hassle: I’d exported data from Excel using CSV probably a half-dozen times since 1992 into various environments and programs for data storage, for mailing lists, mostly. But wrong: Number records don’t export directly - 2nd tier Apple support confirmed this. So how do I get these 300+ notes into Evernote? Want to preserve of course the Notebook they’re in, their title, body, and formatting (if possible).
  6. I put a lot of photos in my Evernote Notes and would like to move all of them to my Mac photos or Mac pictures. Can this be done? If so please send directions. Thank you.
  7. Evernote 7.4 on macOS 10.13.6 ... I've been using Evernote for over 10 years. Something broke with Search in the latest upgrade. I type in a keyword, and Search says "No notes found." But I know there ARE notes with that keyword. I'm attaching a screenshot with an example. I typed "tahini dressing," and at the top it says: Found notes with rosemary tahini dressing, white bean kale salad with tahini dressing, roasted carrot lentil salad with tahini dressing and curry-roasted fennel salad with rosemary tahini dressing but in the note list area, it says "No notes found." Even when I click on one of the "found notes" result, I still get "No notes found."
  8. Is it my imagination or is there no ability to strike-through text using the Mac desktop client? I see that option I the iOS version and the web interface, but I haven't seen it in the desktop version. If it's not there in the desktop version, does anyone know why? EDIT: I see this is a feature that's been requested for something like six years, maybe more (a button rather than the arthritis-inducing keyboard combination). It's things like this and the slooooooow support from Nevernote that make me realize my decision to stop paying for a Premium account was a wise decision. So close to perfection Nevernote, so close... Dave
  9. Is it possible to print a note without the note title? Sometimes I have titles that are only for organizational purposes (to find the note in a list of notes) and the title includes date stamps and other characters which are only relevant in the bigger picture. I'm running El Capitan and I would like to be able to print only the body of such note. How do I do this – is it even possible? Thanks in advance. –Martin
  10. Hi Folks - Evernote for Mac 7.5 Beta 1 is now available. It has many bug fixes we've been queuing up after our re-brand. You can download the version here or check for updates (make sure you're opted into Betas.) Let us know if you have any feedback on this version or questions on the brand updates from 7.4. Thanks, Chantal and the rest of the Mac Team Version 7.5 Beta 1 Fixed: Note snippet doesn't show when note is dirty or fails to sync. Link > Remove removes all links from note when more than one line is selected. An intermittent crash when loading web views. App crash dragging note from Space to Trash. Intermittent app crash when checking for updates. The column widths on "Share with me" were not remembered if close then re-launching app. Pasting into numbered/bullet list removes list text between images. Inputting Japanese characters: Unexpected converting/determining when user inputs Japanese characters on bullet point list. Lists: Triple click of one line copy pasted in front of text on another line breaks list. With 2byte characters in a table, table is broken after adding a bullet point within cell. Underlined text formatting cannot be removed in table. Bold turning back on with paste after being turned off in list. Bullet lists separated by paragraphs in Word are grouped together after pasted into Evernote. Turning off bold after pressing spacebar - then paste and match style - turns bold back on. Pasting from Excel into Evernote, requires table upgrade but UI is missing. Pasted text in Evernote from external coding text editor alters formatting. Updated: Cleaned up the Note header UI by consolidating actions in the ... menu. Updated the upgrade placement on Mac. You can remove it by customizing the top toolbar if you wish. Updated the background of the Note List to align with our new brand colors.
  11. Hi! I am currently on MabookAir with MacOS HS 10.13.3 When I annotate, if I click away from the annotation window it automatically closes and saves the changes, even if I have a split screen view and am taking notes in another EN note. It's super annoying to have to open up annotation and find my place again if I wish to take notes as I go or do absolutely anything for an even a moment outside of that annotation, EN or otherwise. Is this a bug or an infuriating design flaw?
  12. I have both Evernote web clipper for Chrome browser as well as Evernote app for MacOS installed on my computer. I wish to keep both, but I cannot figure out how to remove the application association that opens Evernote app for every single note that I clip via the web clipper. This is super annoying. Any advice welcomed.
  13. When I using the Rename Attachment option, it pre-populates the rename text box with the attachments current name which make is a bit painful when I am renaming the attachment to match the Note's title Is there a way to bulk rename attachments to the the Note's title that I am missing? I know you shouldn't really need to worry about the attachment's name as everything is indexed, but my must-be-tidy gene plays havoc when the attachment titles have no relation to the Note title. If not, could I request that either there is (a) Rename Attachments to Note Title option that will apply to all selected notes or ( a sticky option on the Rename dialogue that when ticked pre-populates the text box with the Note's title and not the current attachment's name? Appreciate your views Thanks Phil
  14. I tried reinstalling the app and re-starting my phone, but when I scan and e-mail it is not received by the recipient. It worked beautifully on my iphone 6 and I didn't have any problems. I don't know if it is the iphone 7 or some other problem. Do I need to pay to use it? Maybe something changed that I am not aware of . . .
  15. I just updated to (Screenshot below) and now all my notebooks appear in list view. !!!! I hate this view. How can i get back to my old view where i saw all my notebooks as a grid view / columns view?.
  16. I had a frustrating experience attaching a large PDF, where it defaulted to inline and moved my viewport of the note away from the area I was looking at beforehand; it wasn't immediately clear how to shrink the enormous PDF down to an 'attachment'. I scrolled (slowly) to the bottom and the top, clicked each icon at the top of the PDF (because tooltips weren't instantly visible on hover, I assumed there were no tooltips), without success. I then right clicked but failed to see 'View as attachment', probably in anger. At that point I threw my computer at the TV; no, not really. It's also worth noting that the inline large PDF made the user interface slow, which further added to the negative experience. I probably have higher performance expectations than the electron-app generation, though. Ultimately I discovered the 'View as attachment' in the right click menu, and also the default setting in preferences. However, I can't help but feel that a better experience would be to include an obvious icon to shrink it, which would have to see more common usage than the save as, quick look or annotate buttons combined. Additionally, I can't imagine why anyone would want to include large PDF's in-line as part of a larger note including other content, so surely it would be sensible not to inline PDF's larger than X pages by default. This occurred on the mac version, however, I believe it is also relevant to the Windows version, maybe others.
  17. I LOVE Skitch! I use it all the time. I use it so often that it's hard to find the pics I want by scanning the thumbnails that don't show the whole pic. 1) I really want to be able to view a full size pic and then go to the next one without having to go back to the thumbs. I want, I want, I want!! 2) It would be nice within the thumbnails to group them by folders. E.g. 4/5 Design Review Mtg Screen Grabs. Then it would be easier to find what I'm looking for. 3) I have been using Skitch as a whiteboard. I work with a team in a different city. We have meetings via AT&T Connect. They can see my screen so I get a screen capture and then mark on top of it. Skitch use to have a "bucket" fill with color function. I'd like to be able to block out part of what I've grabbed to quickly demo what I'm thinking. You've got a rectangle border tool. How about a solid rectangle tool... circle... Again, I love this tool. Let's make it even better. Thanks, Laurie
  18. On Evernote for Mac allowing a setting to set new Notebooks to either Private or Share or choose option, would save needing to do this every time. I prefer to have all my notebooks private & I'm sure others would prefer all shared & I'm guessing it's mostly one or the other. After all, they can be changed at anytime if needed.
  19. Evernote Clipper has stopped working in Safari 11 on the Mac. (Actually it's v. 11.1) I click the Clipper button and nothing happens. I've had to switch to Chrome to make it work but much prefer to use Safari. Has anyone found a fix for this?
  20. Hello, I have tried very hard to find a solution to this on my own, but I am new to evernote, and not having any luck at all. I have a macbook air 11". It is not the newest model, but probably the one before that. I just installed Evernote 6.10 on it. I am trying to snap a picture using the built in camera, of me holding a note... just a todo list written large with a sharpie. This is not a question about handwriting recognition... which would be nice, but really isn't needed for my current project. Basically I want to scribble down some notes on a piece of paper, show it to the camera, and be able to look it up by date later. It seems the image is mirror flipped. I understand this is sort of normal behavior for an apple webcam so it feels more natural when using facetime... but it is absolutely useless for what I am trying to do. I see I can rotate the image in evernote, but I cannot flip it so the text is readable. What am I missing? Thanks!
  21. I just launched Evernote 6.10, and according to the Mac's Activity Monitor, its memory footprint is 114 MB. When I quit it a few minutes ago because it was getting very laggy, it was at 2.42 GB! Sorry, but this just isn't cool. If I let it continue it would eventually hang my computer.
  22. Creating screenshots is an essential part of my day to day workflow, but ever since I got the new Retina MacBook Pro, especially when running in the highest resolution, my screenshots are HUGE! I know I could use photo-editing apps (Photoshop/Preview etc) to downsize/resize the high-res screenshots, but is there a better/easier/faster way within Evernote? Does anyone know of an external plugin/app that would automatically downsize screenshots into clipboard? It would take way too much time to have to custom edit every screenshot as it is now for storage on Evernote, not to mention the space contraint issue.
  23. I notice that there is a "Save PDF to Evernote" button within Gmail on a Chrome browser. But the button only seems to appear if you first click on Print when viewing an attachment. Then you need to cancel out of printing before you are able to click on the Save to Evernote Button. Is there any way to access this feature without having to first print and cancel?
  24. There seems to be some discussion around this on the forums but I have not found a solution to make PDF set to only view as attachments. The only solution I have found is to right click the previewed document and change the setting. Also I do not see any consistency as to when a file shows as preview vs. attachment. Can someone shed some light on this issue? Thanks
  25. [Edit 8/6: we've released a hotfix to version 7.3 which addresses an issue we noticed with some shared notes not loading if you're a business user. Link below has been updated, and you can check updates for the latest.] Hi Folks - Version 7.3 is now generally available. Please download it here, or check for updates. We'll be ramping up distribution slowly - look for the same update in the App Store in a week or so. The team's really excited about all the improvements we've loaded up in this release including many bug fixes and the added the ability to quickly access your shared content via our new "Shared with Me" view. Thanks, Chantal and the rest of the Mac Team ----------------------- Version 7.3 New: Now there’s one easy place to find everything that’s been shared with you, including notes and notebooks. It’s a new feature called “Shared with Me,” and it’s in the sidebar below “Notebooks.” We think you’ll love it. Improved: We’ve made some improvements to search and you can now sort by relevance, so you can see the things that are... well, more relevant to what you’re looking for. We tweaked the way notebooks are highlighted in the sidebar when you open them, to make it easier for you to navigate. You can now use a forward slash when renaming your attachments. It’s the little things, right? Fixed: The “Go To Mac Forum...” link in the Preferences menu didn’t actually take you where you wanted to go. But we stopped and asked for directions so now you’re on the right path. If you dragged an image to your desktop, it would show up as a text file instead. Your pics deserve better, so we cleared that up. Tags used to be case insensitive, so you couldn’t create a lowercase tag if the same tag existed as uppercase. But we sent them to sensitivity training and now you can have it both ways. We’re doing a better job of remembering your settings when you close the app. In particular, the note list column and expanded card view will now stay just the way you like them. Now and then, you wouldn’t be able to expand or collapse items in the sidebar, which was kind of embarrassing. Somehow, tags weren’t appearing in your side list view. But we sorted it out. Previously you couldn’t drag notes or notebooks to the very bottom of your shortcuts list. Now you can put them wherever you like. Annotating an image would scale it back to its original size. You probably zoomed in for a reason, though, so we changed that. Sometimes the app would crash right after you installed it. Since you only get one chance to make a great first impression, we fixed that. Dragging and dropping a notebook could sometimes cause a crash. “Drag and crash” isn’t as much fun, but it’s all good now. We’ve also fixed a few specific issues that might have caused the app to crash, like interacting with the Formatting preferences pane and the Font selection panel, or using a saved search. But that’s all in the past.
