  1. The desktop client for Mac has a keyboard shortcut for inserting a table (Cmd + Shift + L). The Windows client has never had a shortcut for this, to my knowledge. I use tables all the time, and find it very cumbersome and time consuming to press Alt, O, T, selecting number of rows and columns in the dialog and then press Enter. I regularly mess up something, like pressing the combination of keys too fast, etc. The overall quality of the desktop client for Windows seems to have improved over the last 6 months or so. I am thankful for that.
  2. My entire first semester of college has been dependent on Evernote. I love the interface, and I'm proud to be a user. Unfortunately, my only machine is my 15" MacBook Pro, which is really heavy in my backpack. I'd like to continue taking notes with Evernote, but on an iPad with a bluetooth keyboard to lighten the load on my back. I've been playing with Evernote on my moms iPad Mini and I'm incredibly disappointed to see most keyboard shortcuts don't work. In fact, none of them do, including Bold and Underline. The only way the basics (bold, italics, underline) work is if I go back and highlight text. When I'm having my professor talk a million miles an hour, I can't be backtracking! I also can't stop typing to move my hands to press the buttons on the screen. I should be able to hit cmd+u and have the next letter I type be underlined. Then I definitely need bullet point lists for classes like physics, where one topic has multiple points to it. Given the basics don't work, it should'nt be a surprise that this doesn't work, even when the text is highlighted. Is there any way we can get Mac shortcuts baked into the iOS version? I feel it'd be appropriate, especially with the iPad Pro coming. I played with that today and saw keyboard shortcuts from OS X in Safari are also in iOS, and my moms mini does the same. I feel there's no reason Evernote should'nt do the same. I feel others could also benefit from this. Tyler M.
  3. Hi everyone, I'm having a strange error with evernote that makes it impractical for me to input simple text. Let me describe the simplest scenario: In a new note, I start typing simple text. Then I move the cursor to any position but the last (using arrow keys / mouse / or cmd+left), and type again. After I type one character, all the text to the right gets selected. Which means if I type a second character next, the text to the right of the character gets deleted. I have reinstalled evernote to no avail. Mac OS: 10.7.5. Evernote version: Version 6.0.16 (451861 Direct) Any help is appreciated. Sushant
  4. I have used evernote for years on my MacBook Pro, currently running 10.8.5. Recently, Evernote started crashing at least 90% of the time when I use keyboard shortcuts (eg. command 1) to access my shortcuts, which are all tags. I have always used keyboard shortcuts, so I am assuming that the issue is with the latest version of evernote. I uninstalled and reinstalled evernote and the problem persists. I can describe the issue in more detail. When I open evernote, the keyboard shortcuts work fine. If I save a note or Evernote is syncing or has synced and then I press command 1 (or 2,3,4 etc), evernote crashes. This has happened at least 20 times in the last week, and I have sent bug reports each time. So I can reliably create the crash by saving a note and then pressing command 1. This seems like a critical bug, and if there is a fix, I would like to know about it. Below is some possibly relevant data that's dumped in the crash: Date/Time: 2014-11-16 06:04:56 +0000OS Version: Mac OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)Report Version: 104 Exception Type: SIGABRTException Codes: #0 at 0x7fff86a90212Crashed Thread: 0 Application Specific Information:*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'NSWindow: -_newFirstResponderAfterResigining is not a valid message outside of a responder's implementation of -resignFirstResponder.'
  5. Once your Evernote document is bigger than one screen - iPad 2 -then, once you want to edit text and place the cursor somewhere in the document, Evernote will scroll up the page the instant you hit the keyboard. The text you're typing is no longer visible. The following proposed workarounds DO NOT work: - decoupling the keyboard - decoupling and splitting the keyboard This is terribly annoying. This renders the product useless. If I had not invested so much into Evernote, this would be the perfect reason for jumping ship. Fix this or I'll go to the competition.
  6. Hello How can I change / deactivate the Evernote’s assigned function for the F5 key? I have remapped system wide the F5 key to act as Cmnd-C (Copy) using the keyboard shortcuts settings pane on OSX. It works great on other programs but in Evernote, even if the key is showed as mapped under the Edit menu, it just brings a list of spelling completion when I press it. Try it yourself: Write something like ser and press F5. It brings a list with all the choices the spell checker knows that start with those 3 letters (seriously, server, servers…). This F5 key / shortcut is not documented anywhere. Other keys I have mapped on the OSX settings work perfectly on Evernote: F6: Paste F4: Cut F3: Select All F2: Undo This arrangement is good for me because I use an external Logitech G15 keyboard with my mac and it has this keys on the left side for easy access. Attached you can see a screenshot of how it looks when I press F5 after writing ser: Hope someone can help me. Thank you.
  7. Is there a keyboard shortcut for selecting "Date created"? I use it frequently -- for example, entering notes that copy a daily quotation service. Workflow would be much faster if there were a way to avoid using the mouse to click into the date field.
  8. I recently purchased the Logitech Ultrathin Magnetic Clip Keyboard. I've been having intermittent problems typing when I edit the note in full screen. This problem doesn't occur if I edit it without expanding the note to full screen (i.e., edit it with the note list taking part of the screen and the note taking the rest of the screen). When typing, if I reach the end of a line, Evernote duplicates whatever the first letter I type that causes the line to wrap to the next line. Also, if I hit the Enter key, it skips two lines instead of one. Then when I start typing on the new line, it again duplicates whatever the first letter is that I type. If I close the note and begin typing again in partial-screen mode (i.e., with the note list showing), I have no problems. If I expand the note to full screen, I have the same problem as before. I've tried duplicating this in other apps with full screen modes and don't have problems in any other app but Evernote. Has anyone else experienced this or found a fix?
  9. I have recently moved to a Mac, and wondering if I am missing something with the keyboard shortcuts. I try to avoid using mouse as much as I can. Let's say I search using the global search (opt-cmd-E) for some key words, and it gives me 3 documents. At this point, I expect to use the down arrow key to get into the list of those 3 docs so I can open or edit them. Pretty simple and natural search behaviour. On my mac, after the search, the only way I can find to get to the list of docs matching the search is by tabbing through the Favorites bar and the list of notebooks on the left side, a total of 11 tabs. The funny thing is that even if I hide the Favs bar, I still have to tab the same number of times!! Am I missing something here? I am not sure if it worked on Windows exactly smoothly but I think there was a faster way to get to the list than 11 tabs. I went through the list of defined shortcuts here: http://evernote.com/contact/support/kb/#/article/23168732 It doesn't show anything for jumping to the list either. And it seems some of the mentioned kbd shortcuts don't work.
  10. I have an original iPad mini, and updated this iPad to iOS 8.0.2 on the weekend. The first thing I noticed is that Evernote is not displaying the keboard correctly by only showing have the keyboard on the screen. When I turned off the predictive typing feature with the keyboard, the keybaord displays correctly. The problem now is that whenever I touch a key, the keyboard goes away. I can't type anything in Evernote. Please note this is the original iOS 8 keyboard and not an add in. I don't have my iPad with me to view what version of Evernot I have installed, but I do keep all of my apps up-to-date. I do not have this issue on my iPhone 5 - iOS 8.0.2 - Evernote.
  11. First I would like to thank you guys for developing this excellent piece of software and services =]. A bug has been bothering me since I bought a bluetooth keyboard to facilitate typing to Evernote Android. Reproduce the problem: Connect a bluetooth keyboard. Create a new note. Type something and make a bulleted list with indentation, like this: List of Great Evernote feature Simple Fast Search Including OCR! [*]Share [*]and others..... Now Disconnect the keyboard, and all indentation are, well, flattened. List of Great Evernote feature Simple Fast Search Including OCR! Share and others..... The problem also happens both when you connect or disconnect the keyboard. Thanks in advance for looking into the issue System Info: EN 4.5.1 on Android ICS on HTC One
  12. I use Evernote with TSW to do time, task and project management. I am almost at the point where I can do my list and tasks processing in Evernote, using only the keyboard. The one thing I don't know how to do, is to invoke a selected Shortcut. I currently place my Shortcuts in the left hand panel. Most of my Shortcuts are saved searches. I can use tab to access pretty much all of the areas of the application I need to make use of. However, while I'm able to highlight a Shortcut I want to invoke, hitting "Enter" does nothing. Does any one know how to accomplish what I want to do? I would like this information for the Windows and Mac desktop clients. Thanks.
  13. Longtime user of Evernote, and I rely heavily upon the "Search in Evernote" shortcut (found in Preferences). I've long had it bound to CMD-SHIFT-F, then used TextExpander to quickly add "intitle:". With the latest update a few days ago, CMD-SHIFT-F now causes Simplify Formatting for my note, no matter what I have set in the Preferences. When I try to change the shortcut to something else, most are taken already, but others which don't give any conflict just don't work. For example, now I have CMD-SHIFT-W assigned, but when I use it I get a "beep" and nothing happens. There's no warning of conflicts (as when you try and use other shortcuts). Is this a bug? Is there another way to bind "Search in Evernote"? Can I override the Simplify Formatting (which I never use) and go back to CMD-SHIFT-F? Thanks! Chris
  14. This problem actually began on a web game app called Lumosity, now has extended to typing entries in Google+. When I hit certain keys, usually on right side of keyboard, my web clipper opens and tries to take a screen shot. Repeatedly. Anyone else experienced this?
  15. I'd love to have the ability to select text (i.e. a new topic during a lecture) and quickly create a tag for that note. The current method of using Control + Command + T (Mac) simply adds a new tag to the pool but doesn't actually add the tag to the note. I put my vote in to repurpose that keyboard shortcut or define that if text is selected then the tag is both added to the pool and added to any note the user is currently working within. thank you for your time!
  16. Evernote is partially geared to let me move between tasks quickly and organize my life. If I have to mess around with a mouse moving around the screen, it's slow. Take a look at Sublime Text 2 for example, everything can be done on the keyboard. For example this is my workflow: my inbox is where I put all my new notes. I will come in later and organize them Tag notes Move to another notebook if I have 10 notes, that's 10 trips to the menu to move to another notebook, instead of just CMD-M or something that would pop up a list of notebooks that I could filter through using intellisense, and just hit enter when i've got the notebook I want. I know the easier solution would be to go to the notes in the list, select multiple and drag them over, but this doesn't work when i want to only be looking at one note at a time. Doing it the drag and drop way I have to context switch from "one note" to "all notes", which isn't as efficient. Just a thought.. shouldn't be hard to implement.
  17. Hi, I'm a long-time Evernote user on multipls platforms. I recently purchased an Asus Eee Pad Slider Android tablet, which has a physical keyboard. Whenever I edit an Evernote note using this keyboard, the Shift key does some odd things. If I hit Shift-I (wanting a capital I), it turns on italics, and if I hit Shift-w (wanting a capital W), the note closes as if I've hit CTRL-W. If I close the physical keyboard and use the onscreen one the problem goes away. I don't get this behaviour in any other Android app. Any ideas? Chris
  18. Lately I've been running into an issue that frustrates me to no end. I pair a Minisuit Bluetooth keyboard to my Google Nexus 7 tablet when I want to use Evernote to journal. It may have been due to the latest update but now whenever I use Shift+U to capitalize the "U", it toggles the underline formatting instead as if I were pressing CTRL+U. Similarly, if I use Shift+I to capitalize the "I", it toggles the italics formatting instead as if I were pressing CTRL+I. It does the same thing with the letter "B". I looked through all my keyboard settings in the app and in the settings on my tablet. I do not have this issue on any other apps that I use as word processors. I am very upset about this because I've been using Evernote to journal and for schoolwork for a long time now and this issue prevents me from continuing to do so. In order to capitalize now I have to use the Caps Lock key which is too annoying to have to do. Is anyone else having this issue? Any recommendations?
  19. I can't wait to get my hands on the Adonit Jot Script stylus for Penultimate. Being a student, there's nothing cooler than being able to use my iPad for my notes and diagrams. However I notice Evernote doesn't support stylus input on iOS and Penultimate doesn't seem to recognize a bluetooth keyboard. Is there any way to incorporate drawings into my typed up notes while I'm in class? A small diagram might be required every now and then in the middle of my notes so it would be great to incorporate both for my lectures, Any thoughts or suggestions? Does anyone else feel like an integration feature is necessary? -Athan
  20. Hi When I'm writing a note and use the split keyboard for typing, the note is no longer in sync with the place where the cursor is and I can't scroll down to get a view on what I'm typing although I can continue to type blindly. iPad Mini, IOS7.02 Evernote app
  21. When using a keyboard dock on my TF300, I can highlight text using shift-cursor key. But this, apparently, is not good enough to allow me to apply styles (bold, italic, etc.). Instead I must double-click and drag the selector handles around, which is a pain with the trackpad on the keyboard dock. Could you possibly allow text highlighted in this way in the android app to be styled?
  22. I have a couple suggestions that would significantly improve the usability of Evernote on Android, at least for my usage style. I mainly use it to archive links to articles I've found interesting, and so will very often share to Evernote from other applications, such as Twitter clients, news readers, etc. The vast majority of the time, I just save the notes as they were generated, and do not mess with editing them at all. However, the keyboard still pops up every single time, and I have to WAIT for it to pop up every single time. This adds at least 2-4 seconds onto how long I have to just sit there and wait before I can do anything with the note. I have seen in other applications (such as Notif) the option to choose whether the keyboard activates upon opening or not, and such an option for Evernote would be a huge time-saver. It would seem to be straightforward to fix this by simply not making the "Title" text field active automatically, instead letting a user tap there IF they need to edit it at all, since the extra time required to do that would be markedly less than the time saved when editing is not needed. This would also have the added benefit of not automatically scrolling down past the header that lists the notebook, saving a user from having to always scroll back up in order to show it and select the proper notebook. If anything ought to be popping up automatically, it would seem to make more sense for it to be the notebook selection list than the cursor in the title. The other suggestion I have is to use the same notebook selection list in the note editing view as is used everywhere else in the application. Currently, in the note editing view, the font and spacing in the notebook selection list is absolutely huge, only allowing 7 notebooks to be displayed at a time (at least with my screen/resolution). In contrast, everywhere else in the Evernote app this list uses much more reasonably-sized text, allowing 10 notebooks to be seen at a time, and looking MUCH nicer and cleaner as well. This latter view also seems to load much faster than the former; when bringing up the former, a "Processing, please wait" box usually pops up for a couple seconds before the notebook selector comes up, while this is not seen with the more compact list style. Overall, I absolutely love Evernote, and find it indispensible. If these small suggestions could be implemented, it would just make the Evernote Android app just that much more polished and refined.
  23. I can't get Ctrl-Shift-C to create a checkbox in EN. I'm running EN 4.6.7.8409 on Windows 7. I'm also running Skitch (just installed) and I can get the shortcut to work in Evernote if I stop Skitch. Looking at Skitch, it has a shortcut using the same keys...Is it just a simple conflict between the two? Seems EN folks would have tried to avoid key conflicts between two products designed to work together. Neither product allows you to redefine the shortcut keys. Skitch designers, take a look at Snag-it which realized long ago that a global utility designed to capture screens from all sorts of apps needs to be able to allow re-defining shortcut keys. (EN designers probably should heed the same considerations.) Is this a known issue? Is there a way to fix this? Thanks in advance. Croc.
  24. I am using Evernote on my Android tablet (Asus Transformer TF700) and I have a problem with the display when I am using the keyboard. When I am typing on the screen it works fine. WHen I use the keyboard, it works fine if I just type and keep going. The problem comes in when I go back in the text I've typed and hit 'return' a few times to make room to add new text. Hitting 'return' a few times a creates a few blank lines but doesn't move the text down on the screen. So when I start typing it ends up showing up on top of the text I've already typed. When I close the note and re-open it everything appears properly. Anyone have any suggestions for how to fix this?
  25. Recently when I attempt to use my bluetooth keyboard or even the on screen keyboard on my Galaxy Tab the typing lags something terrible. It is so bad that it is unusable on my tablet. Any ideas?
