  1. Konichiwa, Evernote Community. Pleased to see you. Let's get into it. Keyboard navigation. What are your favourite hacks and workflows and keyboard shortcuts in Evernote? I am currently seeking the keyboard shortcut to tab around the note space. For example, when I open a new note (^⌥⌘-N) it drops me into the main note taking space. But without touching the trackpad, how to I edit notebook and tags? Inquisitive minds would like to know!
  2. I have a large number of Notebooks (100+, one for each client I work with) and am constantly jumping between them on a daily basis. On the sidebar, I have to scroll up/down to find the notebook I'm after. I'd like to be able to just click into the sidebar on any random notebook and start typing and have the sidebar scroll and highlight the closest match. Just like you can on a folder list in Windows/MacOS. It would make life sooooo much easier. A keyboard shortcut to move the active screen area to that sidebar to begin typing would be nice as well.
  3. Pressing the escape key when editing a note used to move focus back to the note list. It doesn't any more. I'm not sure when this started, but I'm currently on Evernote for Windows version 6.11.2.7027 (307027) Public (CE Build ce-43.0.4829). Anyone else seeing this, or is it something weird on my system? In the meantime, anyone got a good workaround for using the keyboard for deleting a note while editing the note?
  4. When taking notes on my iPad, the keyboard covers the text, and the screen will not let me scroll down to the bottom of my text while typing. The result is that I'm typing without being able to see what I'm typing. I also cannot use the text selection tool in any text covered by the keyboard. I've included a photo. Suffice to say this is extremely frustrating. Is this a bug with my iOS, or is this Evernote? Also, how long does it usually take for customer service to respond to help requests? It's been two days.
  5. Hi! I'm unable to add tag to a note if I use external hardware keyboard only. I can open note info dialog using command shift I, but I can't enter the tag - the input box is not in focus and I didn't find a way to give it a focus without tapping on screen. Could you please add ability to add tags using keyboard only? Thank you!
  6. It would be great to be able to use the Home, End, Page Up and Page Down keys to navigate within notes. I can't think of another text editor that doesn't make use of these keys. Surely this would be trivial to implement. Thanks for your attention.
  7. Please consider what would appear to be a very simple and easy-to-do request. When I am organizing EVERNOTE using my GTD principles, I want to store my completed GTD lists in a NOTEBOOK entitled "GTD DONE". Being the simpleton that I am, I often go several days and forget to do this to my daily GTD lists. It would be super if I could move the first note to the "GTD DONE" notebook and then simply enter the next GTD note and use a hotkey/keyboard shortcut to do the same thing over and over. I know that the feature exists - on the NOTE menu pulldown. But its too many steps. If it was a hotkey - it'd be so much easier. Just a thought. Thanks for reading. 73, Larry
  8. Are there any keyboard shortcuts for the web app, such as quickly add a note, search, etc? Would be really useful. I use 'q' for new task in Todoist many times every day. Am on Linux, else would use the native client.
  9. Other note systems can do the following which I personally find really helpful. Say you have written a list ITEM1 ITEM2 ITEM3 ITEM4 ITEM5 You then highlight one of the entries and then use the keyboard SHIFT + ALT + UP-ARROW or SHIFT + ALT + DOWN-ARROW to move an item up and down the list.
  10. Hi all, I'm a keyboard guy, and part of that is trying to get my workflow such that I want to get places in as few keystrokes as possible. Evernote doesn't seem to be quite setup or this. I have the "Find in Evernote" shortcut currently set to WIN+SHIFT+F. I would much rather it be something like WIN+SPACE but it won't let me use that. When I do the shortcut, the full app opens up and does put me in the search bar. Now, as results are filtered, it would be great if I could just arrow up and down to browse through those notes without having to hit TAB first.. and if I need to change the search I need to SHIFT+TAB before to put focus back to search. Pressing Enter should then open that note in its own window. and simultaneously clear the search. Also, hitting ESC any time you are in Evernote should clear search.
  11. Please help The keyboard didn't show up. It happens in Iphone 6s+, evernote 8.1.352228 ios 10.2.1
  12. I have recently (since last one or two updates ago) noticed that when I use Evernote on my desktop computers (Win10, Evernote ver. 6.4.2.3788) the following keys are not working (nothing happens when pressed): Del, Backspace, Return, Tab. This is the case for two separate computers (both at home and at work) so I doubt it is a computer issue.I am now limited to using Evernote on my iPad. Please fix immediately since it renders the software unusable.
  13. Hello, Some questions regarding Evernote 8.0 for iOS (iPhone): How do I add the back of business cards? I used to be able to take a photograph of the front and back of business cards. I don't seem to be able to photograph the back of business cards since the new release. Is it possible to minimise the keyboard when entering a note? I don't seem to be able to do this since the new release. How do I crop photographs? I don't seem to be able to do this since the new release. Why does Evernote ask me to enter my App store password each time I open Evernote 8.0? Regards, Ben
  14. I'm having a problem that is only happening on your app. I'm using a Z4 Xperia tablet with the default BKB50 bluetooth keyboard that comes with it. I'm using the default software and default ROM (no editions of any kind). Sometimes, the input behaves wierdly; here's 2 cases in particular. 1. I start typing and some keys are interpreted repeatedly: "IIIIII sstaaaaaarrrrrttt tyyyypppppinggggga aaandddddd soooommmmmeeee" etc. 2. If I type the accent key, all letters will continue appear with accents until I either type a space (space bar) or a period (.) ejemplo de casos donde los áćéńtos no dejan de aparecer. sóĺó´dejan de aparecer cuando escribes (espacio) o (punto). these two cases happen only on your app. let me know if I can send a file, a log or something that can help you find and fix the problem. keep up the great work!!!
  15. Apple has a great list of standard Mac keyboard shortcuts here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201236 It would be great if these worked in Evernote. In particular, I constantly miss the ability to scroll to the beginning or end of a note with a single keystroke. Now that you are apparently re-architecting the editor to accommodate new features, this would be a great time to put these on the list!
  16. Hi there, I am Evernote newbie facing very annoying issue. I have non-english keyboard and as soon as I run my evernote app and try to make @ (- in my case it is a combi. of altgr + v) Evernote executes clipper action and prevent me to make @ - Please help me. Thanks! M
  17. I have a non-Apple bluetooth keyboard I use with my iPhone (6S+ 64GB). (As it happens, there are a whole slew of somewhat similar clones of the same basic folding-keyboard technology from different manufacturers, that you can see at, e.g., Amazon. The one I particularly like - I've tried several - is a full-sized keyboard by iClever [Model IC-BK05, Tri-folding Bluetooth Keyboard] supported for iOS, Android, and Windows; which you can see here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018K5EJCQ/ This keyboard (and many others like it) - despite its support for iOS devices like iPhones etc. - does NOT have an Apple-type "Command" key on it, nor does any secondary function key that the manufacturer has designated (best I can tell) provide such "Command" support. Instead, there are Ctrl, Fn (Function), Win, and Alt keys present on the keyboard. Despite the lack of a specific Command function, the keyboard seems to do pretty well on my iPhone with regard to pretty much everything that needs to be done. It does have a function key (Fn + A, S, or D) which switches the keyboard (once connected to the designated device) into either Android, Windows, or iOS modes, respectively. Meanwhile, I've been looking over this page at Evernote's support site, "Keyboard Shortcuts for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch": https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/216788038-Keyboard-Shortcuts-for-iPad-iPhone-and-iPod-Touch The foregoing Evernote document describes a number of different keyboard shortcuts that one can (should be able to) type under iOS to achieve Evernote functionality - nearly all of which involve the use of the (non-present) Command key. I WAS able to use the cursor keys and the tab key as described, but that's it. In addition to lack of a Command key, it's also not clear how those features utilizing Command + "Option" (key?) could be realized. So, my question is: how can I (or can I) make use of these (very handy) keyboard shortcuts for the Evernote app using the keyboard that I DO have?
  18. I accidently tap on my ipad with using penultimate and the keyboard popped up. I was wondering if that is a function that can be used with this app? If so, how can I do it again?
  19. Help! I love using Evernote but I can no longer type properly on it! So ever since an update a few months ago, I don't recall exactly when, whenever I type in Evernote android, it's been crazy glitchy. I can type smoothly on every single app on my phone except Evernote so I'm pretty sure Evernote's the issue here. Examples of glitches are: - typing "i" gets deleted after hitting spacebar - backspace on a word adds letters to the word? they --> backspace one letter and the word becomes --> theythe - deleting an empty line before a paragraph deletes the first word of that paragraph - cursor jumps around like when I try to move it - cursor also jumps to a different spot in the middle of typing (I didn't touch anything weird, like it'll jump up way to the top so no way could I have scrolled all the way up in the middle of typing) I can't remember all of them right now but typing is randomly slow as well. Also, my phone has lots of memory because I clean it up at least once a week, deleting cache and other files etc Does anyone else have these problems? Are they fixable?
  20. I don't understand why in the latest update of the Evernote desktop client you have statically changed the hotkeys. I want to be able to set my own hotkeys. I also want to be able to determine what things get autoformatted in a note. I do want asterisks to change into bullet points, but I don't want a sequence of dashes to change into a horizontal rule. These options should be opened up so the user can customize, just like in Adobe Photoshop. I love setting my own hotkeys and using them in Photoshop, it makes me so much more productive. If you did this it would make Evernote much more pleasurable to use.
  21. The desktop client for Mac has a keyboard shortcut for inserting a table (Cmd + Shift + L). The Windows client has never had a shortcut for this, to my knowledge. I use tables all the time, and find it very cumbersome and time consuming to press Alt, O, T, selecting number of rows and columns in the dialog and then press Enter. I regularly mess up something, like pressing the combination of keys too fast, etc. The overall quality of the desktop client for Windows seems to have improved over the last 6 months or so. I am thankful for that.
  22. My entire first semester of college has been dependent on Evernote. I love the interface, and I'm proud to be a user. Unfortunately, my only machine is my 15" MacBook Pro, which is really heavy in my backpack. I'd like to continue taking notes with Evernote, but on an iPad with a bluetooth keyboard to lighten the load on my back. I've been playing with Evernote on my moms iPad Mini and I'm incredibly disappointed to see most keyboard shortcuts don't work. In fact, none of them do, including Bold and Underline. The only way the basics (bold, italics, underline) work is if I go back and highlight text. When I'm having my professor talk a million miles an hour, I can't be backtracking! I also can't stop typing to move my hands to press the buttons on the screen. I should be able to hit cmd+u and have the next letter I type be underlined. Then I definitely need bullet point lists for classes like physics, where one topic has multiple points to it. Given the basics don't work, it should'nt be a surprise that this doesn't work, even when the text is highlighted. Is there any way we can get Mac shortcuts baked into the iOS version? I feel it'd be appropriate, especially with the iPad Pro coming. I played with that today and saw keyboard shortcuts from OS X in Safari are also in iOS, and my moms mini does the same. I feel there's no reason Evernote should'nt do the same. I feel others could also benefit from this. Tyler M.
  23. Hi everyone, I'm having a strange error with evernote that makes it impractical for me to input simple text. Let me describe the simplest scenario: In a new note, I start typing simple text. Then I move the cursor to any position but the last (using arrow keys / mouse / or cmd+left), and type again. After I type one character, all the text to the right gets selected. Which means if I type a second character next, the text to the right of the character gets deleted. I have reinstalled evernote to no avail. Mac OS: 10.7.5. Evernote version: Version 6.0.16 (451861 Direct) Any help is appreciated. Sushant
  24. I use the "Copy Note Link" under my GTD - like system and use the "Copy Link Note" on many notes. It would be helpful to have a keyboard shortcut for the "Copy Note Link" and avoid the right-click then scroll down menu process.
  25. Once your Evernote document is bigger than one screen - iPad 2 -then, once you want to edit text and place the cursor somewhere in the document, Evernote will scroll up the page the instant you hit the keyboard. The text you're typing is no longer visible. The following proposed workarounds DO NOT work: - decoupling the keyboard - decoupling and splitting the keyboard This is terribly annoying. This renders the product useless. If I had not invested so much into Evernote, this would be the perfect reason for jumping ship. Fix this or I'll go to the competition.
