  1. I cannot figure out how to resize photos (jpegs) in evernote- I do not want full page photos in my school notes. Using windows 7. I must be missing something Really simple!
  2. Various images, including the ones generated by my oscilloscope, do poorly as JPEGs due to sharp discontinuities in the image, but fine as Tiffs. The mac desktop app deals perfectly with tiffs, but the android app shows only a broken item icon, which I cannot even click on to see the full image. Does this indicate that there is a problem with my tiffs? Or is this a bug in evernote, or a missing future? If the latter, is there a channel that I can go through to request bug fixes or enhancements? If the former, what can I do to convert a broken tiff to a version that evernote does not choke on without resorting to a less appropriate--and more hassle-causing--format like jpeg? Thanks!
  3. I have noticed that sometimes the scan is a .jpg and sometimes it is a .pdf, why is this? Also can it be set to only make PDF's? Thank you
  4. Hi to all, I'm brand new to Evernote. I love it, but I can't get my handwritten notes recognised. I'm using Windows 7 on a laptop and taking jpegs with my digital camera. At first I thought it was just my illegible scrawl, but I just tried using the attached file (I've made it smaller for this post) and still nothing. I've tried searching the knowledge base, forums and google but haven't found anything, apologies if this is already covered somewhere. Thanks in advance!
  5. I have started to go paperless. I still haven't decided whether to prefer PDF or JPGs. My problem is that I have uploaded some JPEGs and some of them appear as images in the notes, and others appear as attachments, where one must click on the Eye icon to 'Quick look' them. I would like them all to appear as images, without having to Quick Look. Can anyone suggest how to do this? Thank you for any suggestions.
  6. I'm using my iPhone and iPad to take various pictures and screenshots. I've set up IFTTT to transfer pics to Evernote folders automatically. Taking a picture of a business card would be an example here. I cannot find key words in these photos using Evernote search function. The status of the note in the "info" section states that "no attachments have been indexed". I thought maybe I just needed to give Evernote's servers time to index this files, but it's now been two days. Any thoughts?
  7. Hi, Could you explain why some JPEG images get OCRd and others don't? I'm a Premium user and I see it working often, but not at all consistently. I have JPEGS that are months old and have synced everywhere but are not OCRd, while I have one from 20 days ago that has. Just now, for instance, Microsoft Word froze on me and I had to force-quit it, losing some 400 words. But I could take a screenshot first and I did: a specific grab of exactly the text area and nothing else. Popped that into Evernote and... so far... nothing. I did eventually realise that OS X screengrabs are in PNG by default so I've changed that shot to JPEG and popped it back into Evernote but... so far... nothing. This isn't a complaint, it's purely a bewilderment: if I could just understand when it will or won't OCR and have some concept of how long it would take, I'm sure I'd be reliant on it all. As it is, I have of course now spent longer researching why it wasn't working than it would've taken me to retype the text myself. William
  8. When I forward emails from my work account, the jpg files do not show up in the email, only the filename.
  9. What is the best scanner to digitize 10,000 photos? Want to upload some to Evernote as well. Does anyone use Evernote to back up photos in conjunction with another photo app?
  10. Firslty, I apologise if this is a simple thing for some, but I don't seem to be able to find a way to save my Skitch images as other than PNG files. In the older version of Skitch 1.0.12 I had a myriad of output file choices, but I have been unable to find a way to change the default. It doesn't appear under Preferences, and the tab on the bottom middle of the Skitch window no longer is there on the newer version. The drag function of the image out of the Skitch window and onto an e-mail or the Mail icon is clunky and often doesn't work first time either, which is just another bug bear I have. To drag and drop requires multiple attempts and then it seems to "stick" in the e-mail. The main reason I want to be able to control the output of Skitch is so that both I and others have a file format that is flexible for me/them, to use. If I attach a great Skitch to an e-mail but my recipient doesn't know the workaround to open the attachment in Preview and then resave it as a JPEG, which is such a pain, then it is quite a limitation. If there already is a thread regarding this I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction. The difference between the functionality of 1.0.12 and the new version is like chalk and cheese, and I haven't experienced such reverse functionality before.
  11. I'm a longtime Evernote user, but I'm only now starting to experiment with OCR recognition...and it's not going very well! (For clarification, I'm working with jpegs, as I don't, at present, have a premium account.) I understand from some other posts here that OCR recognition can take a while to kick in. With this one image I'm experimenting on, however, some of the text was immediately searchable; some remains unsearchable 30 minutes after posting. I'm not dealing with handwriting, but with a photo that contains very clear text. Am I missing something? Is it possible for part of the text to be immediately searchable, while the rest takes time to become "available"? I'm gearing up to use Evernote for a complex project that will include scanned texts and handwritten notes, and I need to know it's going to work for me before I invest more time and energy setting it up. Any thoughts/suggestions?? Thanks.
  12. Hi, I've been experimenting with Evernote and I noticed that when I take a picture with my phone, Evernote automatically OCR's the image so I can search it on my desktop, brilliant.... ...however if I import any .jpeg files from my PC, evernote doesn't OCR them even if they clearly have text on them, is there a way to override this default behaviour and force Evernote to OCR certain image files that it normally would not?
  13. I take pics of schematics then share them with EN to have a reference in my pocket (HTC Inc2 Android 2.3.4). The images are clear on the desktop and Web client, but not on the Android client -- I can't read the pin numbers so it's kind of useless. I know that the phone is capable of displaying the detail I need as the original image is still in the Gallery and displays fine (clear, like the other 2 clients). I've tried to resolve the issue by making the image an attachment, capturing from within an EN note, emailing, and everything else I can think of. Does anyone know how to get a clean (hires) image in to EN?
