  1. Hi! We just released a new version of the Cooliris mobile app yesterday with support for your Evernote photos, which means you can now access all of the photos from your Evernote on your iPad and iPhone in our stunning Cooliris 3D wall experience. Would love for you all to try it out and let us know your feedback on this initial integration. Some cool features in the app: We integrated Evernote search so you can easily search your photos using the name of the image, note or notebook, and also using the text recognition search feature to find any text of handwritings in your photos You can share your Evernote photos directly to Facebook or for more private viewing, send them to a group of friends or anyone in your family in private conversations. You can also easily transfer photos across multiple services. Bulk save photos your Evernote photos to your iPhone/iPad, Dropbox or Google Drive as you wish! The Cooliris app is free in the iTunes App Store. To connect Evernote to the Cooliris app, just tap the [+] icon on the home screen of Cooliris and select Evernote. We love to hear your use cases for how you use Evernote to collect photos, and any features you think would be kickass for the Evernote experience in Cooliris. Also, quick survey - should we add Business Notebooks and Shared notebooks for the next release? Would love to know how many Evernote users would want to see this! Cheers,Derek
  2. I am having difficulty with the install of evernote on my ipad. I cannot figure out how to work with notebooks. When I look at the tabs I see options for "all notes, trash, tags, places, premium". I do not have a notebook tab. When I log on to the PC version I clearly see the notebooks and can work with them. I have spent hours trying to find out why I cannot work with the noteboos on the web and while I see many references to changes on the ipad version, I just do not see what the forums refer to or what the screen shots indicate when I view my install. I checked with the App store and it lists my apps as up to date.
  3. Hi all, I hope someone can help. I have searched Google several times, and also the Evernote forum for the answer to the following problem. So apologies if this had been dealt with previously, or an obvious question. I will attach a couple of Skitch diagrams of my Evernote to try and explain more clearly. In recent months Evernote has transformed my organisation skills and allowed me to think clearer - So thanks Evernote! However, when I try to find untagged items on my iPad & iPhone I find it extremely difficult. So I wait until I get home to tag any notes I have sent to Evernote during the day - Not a major problem, but an irritating one. Mac Evernote allows me to go to my inbox and sort by tag - The untagged items appear at the top of the page.....no matter how old they are (first Skitch picture hopefully). On the iPad the same page looks different. The tags are showing, but I seemingly cannot sort the notes by tag. Therefore any untagged notes could be buried anywhere. If anybody has any ideas I would be extremely grateful. Perhaps it is a feature that is not available. Regards, Nathan (Moo)
  4. This isn’t anything earth-shattering, but I’m curious about it. Earlier today, I took a picture with my iPad and put a copy in Evernote. Later today, I opened the note up on my Windows laptop. I hadn’t tagged or captioned the picture at all. The automatic caption E/N gave the note is, “Camera roll from Buddy in Los Angeles”. I’m curious because it came from my personal iPad camera roll, and Buddy is the name of my dog. We are both in the picture, but it struck me as weird. He's very smart, but this is the first time he's gotten credit for a photo. Any ideas as to how that caption came to be, lol? Thanks
  5. Hello - So I've been trying to figure this out on my own and figured that I would like to ask the experts their thoughts! Situation: Real Estate agent has too many buyers and is leveraging her team to help them show client's housesProperties that they see are in a PDFNeed to use app that will allow clients to take notes etc. on PDF Sync the app with Evernote for team leader to review likes, dislikes, etc. I've looked at a couple of the apps out there that work well, but they all seem to have 1 shortcoming or another. In addition to the situation outlined above it would be excellent to be able to do the following: Select which notebook the PDF will sync to when exported from App (i.e. sync to a particular client's name) - could be done with tags too.Would allow other people to add notes to the files in evernoteThanks in advance for all the help! (attached is the PDF that we would be annotating) Cloud Buyer Tour w. Notes (short).pdf
  6. I just started using Skitch today and have run into something kind of confusing. I was annotating a PDF and when I tried to move my annotation up to the previous page, it moved *behind* the previous page of the PDF and now I can't get it back. Is there a "move forward" or "move backward" feature I'm missing? Why did it go behind the page rather than on top of it? How do I get my note back? I honestly can't tell if this is a bug or a feature, and since I don't see anybody else mentioning it anywhere else on the internet and didn't see it in the Skitch guide, I'm at a total loss. (Oh, and I tried to "undo" the move but nothing happened. I think it undid a bunch of my writing in the note, but it didn't return it back to its original position,)
  7. I've been clipping a bunch of Internet articles to Evernote. I went to readh them on my iPad notice that even if I open Evernote and sync, I need to actually open each article in order to get the content to load. This is a little annoying. Is there a setting to get it to download all of the articles when it syncs? Thanks.
  8. Hi I downloaded evernote in 2010, but only started to use it last week. I loaded evernote onto Chrome on my PC, running windows 7, and i seem to be able to access everything OK. using the same user name and password, i am then trying to log in on my ipad, it as soon as i put in the password and hit GO, it goes back to my ipad home screen. i did uninstall and reinstall the app yesterday, but that did not work. i really want to make this, with penultimate work...can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Susan
  9. I was wondering if anyone had looked at anytodo - the app for ipad and iphone. What I like about it is that it very simply works by using evernote's folders and tags to organize your tasks. It seems to focus on working with evernote - so you can get your tasks either in your evernote app or in the anytodo app. Has anyone tried this one?
  10. I'm digitising a load of notes at the moment on my iPad and iPhone using the excellent page camera, but am slowed down considerably by having to activate the page camera each time I take a photo. Is there a way to set this to 'on' as a default, rather than 'off' as at present? If not, please could I request this as a feature. Most of my capturing uses page camera, so easier to turn it off when not needed really. Hope someone can help Thanks
  11. Hi, anyone had a problem with Evernote on iPad where it gets stuck with the spinning spokes & "Loading" ? I'm reluctant to remove & reload Evernote from the iPad because of the amount of data already on the iPad - any other ways to fix the problem? Cheers, David
  12. I'm trying to help my mom troubleshoot her notes issue. She took 6 hours of notes yesterday on her iPad and when she logs into Evernote online, she cannot find her notes from the meeting. She's used the app with no problems in the past. Has anyone else experienced this issue before?
  13. My tablet has wifi only and I do not have a premium package yet. I'm trying to understand why in one case I could access notes offline and then later couldn't. Sitting at work with no internet connection I was able to open and edit a note that was typed or cut and pasted into Evernote. The note contained a list of what I needed to research. I couldn't open the attached pdf. I printed the pdf and figured "great, I'll have the information I need." The next day I was in a courthouse and tried to open the Evernote note. It wouldn't open because I didn't have an internet connection. I ended up having to find a local library and cut and paste the note out of Evernote and into my word processor. Then I went back to the courthouse. Back at work today and I can open the note. Even tried turning wifi off and the note still opened. Why can I open it one place and not another? I'm trying to find the consistency of accessing notes. Mary Beth
  14. Although the Evernote menubar Helper seems to be working correctly with the Mac app (I can save notes to my Evernote account without the actual application being open, and those notes will sync to the application when it is opened), but the synchronization doesn't seem to extend to other devices unless the Mac app is opened first. I saved some notes with the Helper, but, when I logged into my Evernote account via the iOS app (on both an iPad 2 and iPhone 4), the notes didn't appear. After I went back to my iMac and opened the Evernote application there, the notes immediately showed up on both my iOS devices. So Helper notes seem to be syncing correctly to the Mac app, but not to other Evernote clients.
  15. Hi, I love how ios handles the pictures attached to a note. you just click on one picture in the note - then you can browse trough all the pictures that are in that note. if something like that would be possible on the en desktop versions, i'd most likely would load all my photos to en, too. Of course some basic functionality - such as diashow etc - would be to wish for - but its the idea of having everything in one place is the most important to me. related to pictures i have some further questions, people that come across the topic might know or have an idea of: 1) is it possible to download all pictures from one note to a folder on the desktop? 2) will there be simple picture editing tools (turning, rezise etc...) integrated to en soon? skitch is great - but the opening in other app should not be necesssary for these most basic issues. apart from that: love en for long before it was a webservice (i liked the old icon more by the way ) - and am delighted that it keeps getting even better.
  16. Why in the world would you have favorites on the EN iPhone app but not have favorites for iPad or Mac? Intentional product fragmentation?
  17. Is there a way to toggle the display settings of spell check in EVERNOTE? I am using an Apple iPad 2 and have just recently updated it this morning with the new OS (Version 6.13). I attempted to type around in EVERNOTE and while doing so had noticed the spell check red line was no longer displaying on incorrect/false words. The settings of the iPad 2 appear to be fine as all other apps are able to display this function without issues. 'English' is the 'Language' used under 'General' > 'International', 'Check Spelling' along with 'Auto-Correction' is 'ON' in the 'General' > 'Keyboard' settings (along with all the other preferences) and for the 'Keyboards' I am using 'English (Australia)'. However, EVERNOTE fails to display the spell check red lines all of a sudden. Please let me know if there is a solution to this. Thanks, Kaya
  19. Is anyone else having difficulty with there being no arrow when you select 'i' to move a Note from one Notebook to another? Re started Evernote, re booted iPad but no difference. Regards Chris
  20. I have posted in various thread concerning the design of Evernote Ver 5 (Mac and iOS) that, IMO, Evernote does NOT adhere to the age-old design best practice that "Form Follows Function". Based on both Evernote employee response in these forums, as well as statements by the Evernote Chief Designer, Gabe Compodonico, is seems clear to me that Evernote either just doesn't get it, or has chosen intentionally to not follow this best practice. So, I want to present some very specific examples, starting with EN iPad Ver 5, that clearlly illustrate that EN has chosen to have a "beautiful, cool, world renown" UI over providing the basic functionality that their users need and depend on each and every day. Example #1: Display of Note Lists/Results EN has chosed to provide ONLY Note lists as large thumbnails, which limit to showing only about 12 Notes per screen. This is the view for either "All Notes" or "Search Results". I get that these big iconic pictures of your Notes looks cool from a pure aesthetic POV, but functionally they are a serious hindrance to finding/selection the note of interest if you have more than 100 notes. IOW, this puts form OVER function. They chose this view for Ver 5 even though many, many long time users have been requesting for years that EN provide a vertical list of notes that would show 25 or more notes per screen. For new users, or those that choose to have only a few (< 100) notes, the new thumbnail screen works OK. But if you have thousands, or tens of thousands, of Notes like most long time users, then 12 Notes/screen is virtually useless. Here's a screen shot of EN iPad Ver 5.0.0 Note List View for All Notes or Search Results Example #2: Browsing/Selecting Notes In EN iPad v4, EN provided a scrollable list of Notes in snippet view on the left panel, while showing the Note contents in the right panel. This made it very easy to scroll through a large list of Notes, selecting the ones of interest. But with EN iPad v5, there is NO multi-panel view with scrolling Notes. Just the large iconic list of Notes, which, when you select one, it displays a smaller window popup of the Note contents. This may look cool, and even display like some Apple apps, but it definitely puts form OVER function. The main point here is that while the Ver 5 view may be arguably "cooler" than Ver 4, it clearly does NOT offer any improvements in functionality. Here are the issues with EN iPad v5 Note display: Does NOT take advantage of the larger iPad screen size, causing the user to have to scroll more to see longer notes Does NOT support the standard iOS "double-tap" to zoom in on text to make it larger and more readable Requires more clicks than Ver 4 to view the next Note, or other Notes in the list When you return to the iconic list of Notes, the user's eye has to scan both left-to-right and down to find the Note is interest. Scanning left-to-right is much harder (for me at least) than just scrolling and scanning down. Below is a screenshot of EN iPad v5 Note View: Now view the EN iPad v4 Scrolling Note List and Note View with much better functionality: ------------------------------------------------ Example #3: Access to App Settings Most iOS apps have followed Apple's lead in using the gear icon to denote access to app settings. EN iPad v4 followed this iOS design standard. But for some reason, EN iPad v5 does NOT use the gear icon. In fact, they hid access to App Settings that it took me quite a while of random tapping to find it. It is hidden behind the User Name. This one I really don't get. I don't see anything "cool" or "beautiful" with this design. Oh, I just remembered: EN has this extreme fetish with simplicity. So removing the gear icon "unclutters" the screen. Really?? Hiding the App Settings is yet another example of putting form OVER function. Here's the EN iPad v5 Settings screenshot: ----------------------- These are just 3 examples out of many more for EN iPad v5. I will post some example for EN Mac v5 later. I truly hope these examples will help Evernote designers understand the high importance of always making sure that "Form FOLLOWS Function". EN, if there is any doubt in your collective minds, please do some research on this topic. There are lots of examples today with both web site design and app design where this best practice is NOT followed. Too many UI designers today get hung up on creating the next greatest, coolest, most beautiful UI, when they should be putting their energy and talents into creating the worlds most intuitive design. Even some Apple designers have fell into this trap. Thanks for reading and considering this suggestion. EDIT: Change link for Chief Designer statement
  21. I've been using Zite and Evernote on my ipad and had no issue clipping articles from Zite into Evernote until the reset. Has anyone else had issues with this?
  22. Using my ipad 2, I can't save pictures, copied text, a webpage, or a URL, (Safari) to a notebook. Am I missing something? I am new to ipad and Evernote. I tried using Dolphin, but it only worked at first, but then after that it couldn't open Evernote. I did the password reset update and even uninstalled and reinstalled Evernote on all my devices (ipad 2 and pc laptops, I don't have a smart phone). Everything is updated on my iOS as well. Can anyone help?
  23. I currently have a pdf file in an Evernote note. I would like to mark it up it during a conference. I thought the best way would be in Pen* . How do I get it from Evernote (on my iPad) into Pen*
  24. I have a few folders shared by a partner where I can edit, add notes to the folders, and everything, here on my mac desktop Evernote. However, even though I am well synced on my ipad, I can't see them, their notes or stacks, anywhere on my ios devices (ipad and iphone). What am I missing?
  25. Our students all have iPads with iWorks on them. We are using the notebooks feature in Evernote to organize by subject. When a student sends a file from Pages, Numbers or Keynote, we cannot move the file into the notebook. Is there a way to do that?
