  1. On my new Note 8, when I select handwriting, the S Pen responds slowly while writing. If I write on S Note, or Sketches, or Google Keep, the ink responds as expected. However, on Evernote, the ink is waaaaay behind the pen stroke. Is anyone else experiencing this?
  2. Hello all,, Since I know something that EN devs don't, which is that there are many people anxious about being able to ink existing notes on their notetaking app of choice, I'll cut the long story short but there nonetheless are a couple of things I must write before getting to the focus of my post so bear with me: 1) Evernote for Windows 10 litteraly s***s big time on touch-enabled devices. Both UWP and WIN32 versions of EN are simply not ready for touch. Their interface is clunky and counter-intuitive in that, for one, dragging inside a note with finger/stylus will not scroll but highlight content. Tiny sidebars are a terrible way to implement scrolling, it is impossible to use it with fingers, stylus/pen are recommended but, even with those, just getting to the bottom of a page is frustrating at the least.Text-modification icons are so small that unless one uses a stylus it will invariably be overkill to try and activate the right function. Ditto for note-modification icons: Too small, too close to each other; obtaining the desired result (e.g. trashing a note) upon first attempt is pretty much an hit-and-miss thing. Menus are ridiculous. Impossible to use with a finger. The list goes on but you get the picture... 2) Against any logic Evernote's web interface works much better, it behaves as it should regardless of the fact that it is being handled through finger, stylus, mouse pointer. It offers a set of icons and shortcuts which feels like is has been pondered over and organized with a sense of logic that the standalone app still has to reach to. It is even way faster than the app which probably suffers from bugs related to its underlying code ridden with stuff inherited from previous portings, that nails it down and brings hiccups and undesired behaviours that I personally find unnerving. Yes I have been trying to reinstall, yes I have tried various versions (even betas), but the general slowness and feeling of clunkiness did not go away. 3) I am one of those which thinks that not being able to ink an existing note "à la Onenote" on Evernote is a wasted occasion. As such I have come and gone to/from ON/EN a number of times but never was able to settle as a happy camper. EN cannot ink a file like ON does, but this is pretty much the only aspect in which MS app outshines Evernote, while it is utter ***** in every other aspect. On is ridden with many image scaling, text formatting, general rendering problems that make opening a file with it an unpleasant experience. Don't get me started with ON's syncing woes, all related to OneDrive which never worked since inception etc. etc. All the above said I was still searching for the perfect solution. Enter Microsoft Edge. As you know Edge has got this nifty pen icon which allows you to use a pen/stylus to ink whatever page/file/image Edge can display. Once on a page/image/file simply click on the pen icon and a menu will appear on the upper part of the browser window, to let you write, draw, underline, highlight whatever you want to your heart content. Once you are finished annotating/drawing/underlining/highlighting, simply use the "cut" function to select the area you have modified, copy and paste on your favorite html/pdf/image editor. Save from there and import your file in EN. So simple so nice. Of course this is a workaround but since I have been trying to use a million of those I feel that this is, so far, the fastest way to proceed. Of course (2) you might do the same thing and just paste content onto the Evernote standalone app but, as per above, the standalone app is to this day a botched version of EN's web interface, and the result will be quite disappointing. Your mileage may vary. Hope this helps.
  3. What's the current status and future for Windows Ink support with Evernote? I have a Windows Ink system and I was really excited about the prospects, until I realized Evernote doesn't have actual Windows Ink support in terms of integration with Workspace.. I realize I can create an Ink note and use my pen, but that's about it. If there are tips or things I need to know to make this a better workflow, please advise.
  4. Greetings, I've searched through the forums here and I'm still confused. And, I don't see the functionality in any windows version of the program. Can I make ink notes directly into an Evernote note - or not? Yes, I know i can import my OneNote notes, and that's close to fine. But I just want to open a note and start writing with the pen INSIDE the note. I do not want to use the input bar at the bottom of the screen - on an 8 inch table this takes up way too much space. I don't need handwriting recognition - I just want to write a note using the pen. TL;DR = is there an ability to write with ink inside a note, or not? thank you very much.
  5. Honestly, Evernote has so much potential, but as of right now, it's such an unfinished project. It's such a hassle to go from an ink note to a typing note. There needs to be a better way to integrate drawing and text notes. There are times when I'm typing down a note, but because I'm a biochem major, sometimes I need to draw out the molecules I'm taking notes on. It would be preferable to not have to do this in another note, but to be able to do it in the same note. As of right now I see that you can make an audio note that you can take notes on, or add audio to a text note, so to be able to do this with hand written notes would be nice. It would be nice actually to just completely forgo the different types of notes "note", "ink note", "audio note", etc. and just have one note where you can just add any sort of content and add drawings in whatever way you choose.

  7. Hi guys - thanks in advance for your help with this. Below is my wishlist - is this possible? I can't find the answers through my searching and feel like I must be missing something. 1. I want to be able to go to an existing note (PDF, text, whatever) and make hand-written notes. Can I do this in the Evernote app? 2. I want to use a mini-tablet (at this point I am open to Samsung or iPad depending on what works best with Evernote) to record all meeting notes. This will replace my pen and paper notebook - I want to use a stylus instead of a keyboard though. I want all of these functions (particularly note editing) to be native in Evernote - I don't want to go to multiple apps and then sync. Just want to open Evernote and have the options there. Is this possible? Thanks again!! Emily

  10. Hello, Is there any plan to bring Ink Notes to Mac like they way they are available on windows?
  11. OS: Windows 7 & 8 EN: 4.6.3.8096 ISSUE: Ink Notes created in Evernote are not OCR'ed and therefore not searchable. CUSTOMER SUPPORT: Here is the text of an email from Jack at EN support: Dear Valued Customer, Sorry about that, Ink notes are not made for the purpose to be directly compatible with our OCR but specifically designed to be used with a fine-point drawing device, such as a stylus then imported as .png file, after that you can try to index. Hope it helps! Jack DISCUSSION: I've been an Evernote user since the early tablet PC days when the ability to use a pen to create handwritten notes made EN stand out. I even became a Premium subscriber to get priority access to the OCR capability. Since there is no menu or command for exporting native EN Ink Notes to .png files, the support reply is at least unhelpful. Further, it makes me wonder if Jack is aware that EN has the ability to create it's own Ink Notes (which used to be searchable for text before all OCR capability was moved from the application binaries to the servers). Furthermore, iOS users of Penultimate (an app acquired years after EN started) can send their handwritten notes straight to EN in three clicks for almost instant OCR. Finally, as you can see from the workaround below, there has to be a simpler fix than buying an app to make EN's own Ink Notes support EN's own OCR. WORKAROUND: Create new Ink Note. Write your text. From the Edit menu, click Select All. From the Edit menu, click Copy. Create a new note. From the Edit menu, click Paste. Sync. Wait a few minutes. Sync again. The handwriting copied from the Ink Note is now OCR'ed and searchable.
  12. I would very much like to have the functionality of ink notes and text notes combined. Ideally, the two would be completely combined so that there was no difference between ink notes and text notes. However, it would be really helpful if only text could be added to an ink note. Adding text to an ink note would go a long way. Please. Thank you. -bill
Steps: 1. Run Evernote for Windows 2. Right Click white space of evernote toolbar 3. Select [Customize Toolbar] menu item 4. Drag & Drop [ink Note] button to toolbar and click [Complete] 5. Click [ink Note] button on toolbar (new note added to note list and ink note appeared into edit pane) 6. Double click created new note Result: Open empty normal text note Expect: Open empty ink note 余談: この掲示板の編集画面、Internet Explorer 10の場合、改行が入れられないのは仕様でしょうか? bugでしょうか...?
  14. I'd really love for the thinnest ink setting in Penultimate to be about half the thickness it currently is. I wasn't sure where to send this, so hopefully someone will see it here.
  15. Hello! I've been using EverNote rarely until very recently, when I started studies. This time, I am using my special laptop - the Dell Latitude XT2, which is perfectly designed as Convertible Tablet, with multi-touch screen and Pen based on N-Trig technology, with Windows 7. I've been initially thinking a lot what to use - Microsoft OneNote, or something else, until someone showed me how Evernote is great to organize notes using Tags, and I liked it (because the idea works good in Gmail). And so, I've begun the pioneer experiment (to my knowledge and Google searches, no one uses Evernote as studies notebook, there is no such section even in the Usage forum section of Evernote). So after about a month of working and struggling with it, I would like to bring my feedback here, hopefully some of it would be implemented soon - I don't even mind purchasing the Premium subscription, if I knew it helped me assure more intuitive functionality for Ink note taking. so, without further intro, the issues I've had to fight with so far: Printing - When Ink Note sent to print, the automatic color (blue) comes out kind of Grey - it should be black for readability. Ex-portability - It seems the only way to get the note outside in a widely known format, is as .MHT file which is a very old Internet Explorer format - I would LOVE to do so as a PDF file! It is weird to submit assignments as .MHT files on email, rather than widely acceptable PDF file format Printing Ink notes: There is a big problem with notes longer than A4 paper: They get cut off without any warning, sometimes half the line on one page, half on the other - this is VERY bad - a quick and relatively easy solution to implement, would be to add some kind of market in the Note itself, marking the end of an A4 sized page, which would allow me to skip the edge and write lines after that edge, so printing would be OK. When printing, I have not found a way to get rid of the margins, and at least use all the space on the page. Crashes often when synchronizing desktop computers with the Ink notes created on my Laptop. Crashes sometimes when I rotate my screen on the laptop (and resolution changes to match). Crash issues I have sent, and provided log files for - are gone.. I cant track their status, cant find their ticket.. nothing. Ink notes are way behind the normal notes in functionality - I cant copy/paste text, or picture snippet etc - sometimes I really want to copy/paste the exercise instead of switching windows to the word/pdf file all the time, and it seem to be impossible. Search function is limited and hard to use: there is no easy way to filter by 2 different tags (for example, filter by "Probability" AND "Assignment" AND "Documents" tags, which would then display me all the probability notes which are assignments, and are documents (like PDF, or word files), or instead of "Documents" tag, a "Solution" tag which would show the solutions only. Creation date modification feature needed - sometimes I missed a lecture, and I need to write it later, but then the sorting by Creation date (which normally would show me the real lecture's chronological order) gets broken because I created the document later - I would like to be able to modify the creation date to adjust for the real time the lecture took place. Sometimes, due to lack of time and other reasons, I am forced to continue next lecture (on the same subject) in the previous lecture's Ink Note - I would love a mechanism which would allow me later to split it into 2 separate notes - the current cut/paste methods are not good enough for large long blocks. Email Sharing of Ink notes - The sent sharing email is totally useless, and unclear what to do with the file.. I cant really use that function to share the assignment with friends, or to submit it to the teacher either. This is all for now, I would love to hear what other people think of the above, and of anyone else who uses Evernote for Studies. This is the largest potential market for Evernote, and would be shame to see it not getting the attention it obviously needs. Thanks!
