  1. Migrate/Export Evernote to OneNote Tool Just learned about this tool from Lifehacker. Haven't tried it, so I can't comment on its worthyness, but if you need to move your notes from Evernote to OneNote, this might be helpful. From the Lifehacker article: Note the migration tool works ONLY on Windows.
  2. So after having heard about it several times but never finding time to delve further into it, I finally signed up for FileThis (http://filethis.com) and connected several of my accounts to be automatically imported to Evernote. I was blown away by how straightforward the process was. It brought in the backlog of statements from my banks, credit cards, utilities, health insurance, and even Amazon.com orders, and will continue to do so automatically moving forward (by default, in the free tier, once per week.) The one major issue I had was that the creation/modified dates of the notes that were created were the date/time of the import into Evernote, not the dates of the statements themselves. The problem was exacerbated by the fact that many of the statements did not seem to be imported in chronological order (so, for instance, a statement from Dec 2012 appeared near the top of the list, while Mar 2014 was rather toward the bottom) and it seemed to be rather random. Not a huge deal for Premium subscribers, since they're searchable, but an annoyance nonetheless. After noticing that all of the PDF attachments were similarly formatted in their filenames, all including a YYYY-MM-DD format date, I wrote an AppleScript that went through and updated all of the create/modified dates of the FileThis-created notes to mirror the dates in the filenames. In order to make it flexible, I did use regular expressions, so you may need to download and install the Satimage osax extension (http://www.satimage.fr/software/downloads/Satimage392.pkg) in order to enable this capability. After that it's really quite straightforward. Including code here, since attaching AppleScript files is disallowed: tell application "Evernote" set statements to find notes ("tag:FileThis") repeat with statement in statements set att to attachment 1 of statement set fname to filename of att set datestring to find text "[0-9]{4}-[0-9]{2}-[0-9]{2}" in fname with regexp and string result set yyyy to text 1 thru 4 of datestring set mm to text 6 thru 7 of datestring set dd to text 9 thru 10 of datestring set new_date to my date (mm & "/" & dd & "/" & yyyy & " 12:00:00 AM" as string) set creation date of statement to new_date set modification date of statement to new_date end repeatend tellSave into a file (e.g., EN-filethis-fixdate.applescript) and then it can be run from the terminal like so: osascript EN-filethis-fixdate.applescriptThis will update the information directly in your local application, which will then be synced to the cloud and across all of your devices. And your list ordering will be sane again, and your OCD can rest.
  3. I created a Shared Notebook, and I used the Tools | Import Folders feature to link folders on my file system that I want included into a shared index. Unfortunately, every time I edit an Excel file in one of those folders, Evernote is importing TWO "new" files. One of these is the original Excel file, and the second one is the automatically-created backup of this file. I edit some of these files 30 times a day. If I am doing a long edit I am constantly saving updates to the file system, and there Evernote goes and uploads these as new files. This is a real disaster because I end up with 60 new files that are all actually duplicates from the standpoint of people using the Notebook. If this is EverNote's idea of version control, it is not a useful implementation of the idea. This behavior makes the feature nearly unusable for actively maintained folders. Plan A: I looked for a way to turn off the automatic updating on a per-folder basis. I don't see that as an option! That isn't a good design. How can Evernote not see that actively maintained folders are going to generate lots of updates that create duplicate files? Plan B: Is there a way to alter this behavior globally? At this point, I would be okay with leaving the automatic updates turned off in some global option, and then once a week I do the update manually. Plan C: Assuming none of the above are possible, then would I be able to at least delete the entries in the Import folder function, and ever week when I want to do the update I would re-establish those entries and then when the update is finished I delete the entries again? Something tells me that if I do this, when I re-establish the Import Folder to the same files, I will end up with the entire Notebook duplicated. Plan D: Assuming nothing about this feature actually works for this application, then I am left with the possibility that I have to create the Notebook, import the folders, then immediately delete the Import Folder links. Once a week, I then have to delete the entire Notebook, recreate it from scratch, and resend invitations to Share the Notebook. That could get old fast, for both the content creator and the content users. This is pretty frustrating.
  4. I'd like to move all my bookmarks form Delicious to Evernote. I've exported my Delicious bookmarks to HTML. I've searched around for guides on how to import this to Evernote, but all the guides seem to be out-of-date and using features that no-longer exist. Is there still some relatively simple way for a normal user to import just under 1000 bookmarks to Evernote?
  5. Greetings, I am a newcomer to Evernote. I have been using Apple Notes as the main app. Now, want to try out this Evernote app. One quick question: How do I import about 2000+ notes from my Apple Notes app to this Evernote? Of course, I don't want to manually copy and paste them into this Evernote. Your help is much appreciated. John9569
  6. Hope this is the proper forum since it deals with 3rd party app and scripting. Not actually an "idea," although it is tangentially.. Is it possible to open a EN notebook using Excel script? If so, how?
  7. I want to share with everyone my way of tackling the lack of Automator support and options to bulk import pdfs into Evernote. I created an email Automator script as follows (the automator actions are in bold): 1. I collected all of the pdfs I wished to add to one folder and made a note of the file count. 2. Get Specified Finder Items: here I dropped all of the collected pdfs. 3. Dispense Items Incrementally: downloaded from (http://automator.us/leopard/downloads/) and allows automator to loop 4. New Mail Message: placed my Evernote email in (To:); added the information for title, notebook, and tags in the subject (http://blog.evernote.com/blog/2012/04/20/quick-tip-friday-emailing-into-your-evernote-account/) and left all other fields blank for my purposes 5. Send Outgoing Message 6. Loop: I left the option to loop automatically and added the file number count to the "stop after" section to ensure I caught everything. 7. Press play. I have a MBP with a SSD and 8gb of RAM so it went pretty fast although I think it's possible it may hang-up slower systems. Mail will repeatedly jump to the foreground when sending the messages, so it's best to not touch the computer while executing this. I also suggest a trial of 5 files initially to ensure you have everything working properly. I hope this helps everyone.....
  8. Hi, Feature request. I'm guessing it's been requested in the past but in case it hasn't, have Evernote monitor import folders and synchronize deletions, renames, etc. Thanks. RBL
  9. Does evernote have the ability to import from Notes+? Looking to carry over notes structure over as well. Thanks
  10. I want to switch from Onenote to Evernote. When I copy notes to the clipboard and paste into evernote, I only get a PNG, not pure text. If I make an intermediate step over a text editor, it works. This is very tedious. Where could the error be? Please excuse my bad english
  11. Hi, I'm trying to import notes from OneNote (version 17.7070.57821.0) that comes with Win 10 but Evernote says "OneNote notes cannot be imported at this time. To import notes from OneNote, you must have OneNote version 2007 or later installed on your computer". Could someone help me out please? Best,
  12. I have a collection of business cards stored on a third paty application called camcard and I'd like to know if there's a way to import them to evernote.
  13. I just got a new computer, so I exported all my local folders to .enex files as instructed by Evernote. I then installed Evernote onto my new machine, signed in, and started importing the .enex files. Periodically it would say that it couldn't import a specific note and that it put it in a temporary file. I have something like 30 notes in this temporary file. I can't restore these notes and am afraid to turn off my computer for fear of losiing them. What do I do? I have tried contacting Evernote using a support ticket, but the actual submit button never shows up. I choose the 3 levels of category and then nothing, no pop up window, no submit button, nothing. Please help. I really don't want to lose these notes. (and yes I have switched my new computer over to be one of the 2 allowed computers on my free subscription)

  17. i recently imported a folder of html files into evernote. The files all came in ok, but with character encoding issues; lots of question marks in black diamonds replacing em and en dashes, curly quotes, etc. i have several hundred files so cleaning them up with find/replace is not an option -- is there a way to change the character encoding used by evernote? The html files had been batch converted from ms word 2010 files; i am unsure what character encoding was used, but the meta tags in the header are: <meta http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"> <meta name=Generator content="Microsoft Word 14 (filtered)"> Any help for a newbie is be much appreciated!
  18. [Had this in iOS Beta and forgot about this forum, so I deleted so I could put it in the proper place!] I have been noticing this awhile and maybe there's a way to do it faster, but I'm not sure I know it. I like to use the iOS Evernote App to import multiple photos pretty frequently. The way I do this is tap "Photos" on the Evernote Homescreen. This takes me to Camera, which is not what I want half the time. From there I have to tap Photos. Could there be a way to not have to load the Camera? One thought would be to hold longer on Photos button instead of a tap. Probably could happen other ways, but something to avoid loading Camera would be awesome. Thanks!
  19. There is a BUG in either the Evernote Export to HTML, or in the HTML Import to MS Word. To test out the process of moving a Note from Evernote to Word, I did the following: Create a simple EN Note by typing. Export this Note to HTML Attempt to Open this HTML file from Word Get Word Error Msg -- cannot open XML file Has anyone else seen this? The BUG seems to be in the Evernote HTML export, because I was able to successfully import into Word a HTML file saved using FireFox of a web page. I got this error msg: Here is the contents of the HTML file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"/><meta name="exporter-version" content="Evernote Mac 5.5.1 (402628)"/><meta name="altitude" content="27"/><meta name="author" content="My Name"/><meta name="created" content="2014-04-26 16:22:55 +0000"/><meta name="latitude" content="30.10863745999999"/><meta name="longitude" content="-95.39710333499997"/><meta name="updated" content="2014-04-26 16:23:51 +0000"/><title>TEST Note to Export to HTML to Word</title></head><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;">This is a simple test Note to test the process of:<div><ul><li>Export from EN as HTML</li><li>Import HTML file into Word</li></ul><div><br/></div></div></body></html>
  20. I've understood that there is no "native" way to automatically import stuff from a given folder in the Mac version of Evernote, without resorting to AppleScripts that may or may not work after an update to either the operating system or Evernote. But, in the Windows version you can do this from Evernote itself. So this is something of a workaround, but if you use Dropbox or any other Cloud storage service (who doesn't these days?) AND you have access to a Windows computer that stays on most of the time, like a media sharing machine at home, your computer at work, in the basement or whatever, you can set up Evernote for Windows on that one, and set the Import folder to be a folder in your Cloud service. This way, any file that is placed in this folder from any computer, will be synced to Evernote through the Windows machine automatically no matter where you happen to be when putting it in there. The caveat is that the Windows machine must stay powered on at all times for this to work seamlessly. If you just want to be sure that the contents gets into Evernote eventually, you can rely on it being imported when you power on the Windows machine, anyway. Just a clumsy workaround for something that should be implemented on all versions of Evernote! Chris
  21. Is there a Mac or iOS application that imports notes from CSV and exports notes to Evernote? For example, can One Note do that?
  22. My tasks in Toodledo have fields for Location, Context, Status, and Folder. Toodledo exports to CSV and XML. The CSV export has a column for each field and a row for each task. How may I convert each task to a note in Evernote with each Location corresponding to the Evernote Notebook of the note and with the Context, Status, and Folder field values as tags of the note?
  23. Hello! I'm not a power user at all... more like a beginner. Someone recently shared an account with me. I exported a notebook from that account, and imported it into my account. Now when I search I find both my note and the shared note. If I delete my note, I am left with only the shared note, so I can't change tags etc. If I delete the shared note, then the others will be penalized. I'm at a loss and would welcome some help! Thank you.
  24. Utilizing Evernote business card scanning (OCR) and Evernote for Salesforce1 integration I'm looking for a way to create a new lead in Salesforce with with the scanned business card info.
