  1. How does one Insert an Existing photo in a note?
  2. Hi Evernote, I am trying to use Evernote instead of a paper notebook for work and generally Evernote does well. However there are some big problems with the functionality. a) Images inserted into notes must have the ability to be resized, i'm not going to go into an image editor, resize them and then insert them in Evernote. Image resizing is a simple task and should be included. b)The tables need to be more functional. You need to be able to copy formatted table data from Excel into an Evernote table, Excel can accept an Evernote table format but not the other way around. And even worse, copying data from a table in evernote to another table in evernote places a table within a table. This is moronic. Also, you should be able to edit table properties once inserted, mainly the table width. If you insert a table but then need to add more columns you can run out of width. I hope you can fix these issues, they've been mentioned many times before. I would love to become a premium member but without these features it doesn't really seem worth it. regards orfeo
  3. "Card view", present in several platforms (at least iPhone, iPad, and Mac version) show image if a note has at least 1 image. My question is: 1. How does Evernote determine which image to show on card view if there is more than 1 image present in the note? 2. How does Evernote determine what part of an image to show and how large it should be displayed? For example, I have several notes of people's face as (kind of) business cards. All the images are scaled to 240x240 and they are in JPG format. On the blown-up view of the card (for Mac, it would be right side of the screen), all pictures are shown properly in 240x240 image. On the "summary" view, some cards show portion of the image, some cards show minimized version of the image. (please see the two attachments. Both jpgs are of 240x240 size and were made by dragging jpg files into the Mac version of the application) On the first attachment, the image shows a small thumbnail, whereas an image on the second card (of the same size) shows a blown-up version of it.
  4. When I send a note that contains an image as an email, the image comes out perfectly sized when viewed on an iPad. The same email message when opened on a computer is very difficult to view. The image is far too large. Any advice on how to make the image in the email appear more appropriately sized on a computer? Thanks!
  5. Hello, I ran out of space rather quickly, since I save lots of screenshots in Evernote. Since I use them for reference, is it possible to store images with less quality than the original? Can I choose the size of an image when I added into a note? Thanks.
  6. Hi All, I am a huge fan of evernote and I am keen to go completerly paperless by scanning to a file any paper I do get. However I am struggling to find an optimal DPI and image format to scan and upload my bills / important papers to evernote. So far I have tried JPG and PNG at 600dpi with file sizes 1-10 and 10-40mb respectively using irfanview because I can specify where to scan each file and they are autonumbered. My problem is if evernote is to be used effectively everything should be stored in evernote - to increase the power of its search. Can anyone suggest a better option as I am only on a free account and uploading even the JPG files will use my 60mb upload limit very very quickly! Any help much appreciated. Josh.
  7. I updated to the latest version (4.6.3.8096 public) Monday morning and immediately lost the ability to copy images from an evernote note and paste them into other evernotes or programs like an outlook email. It simply wouldn't copy an image to windows clipboard. It didn't work with the right click menu nor keyboard shortcuts. I have been using this functioality for about 10 months for work where I need to add multiple images into the body of my emails so I can add text under each describing them. Having images added as attachments does not work for my situation. It is interesting though that I could copy/paste text with no trouble. On Monday I had a 20 min chat session with support which ultimately asked me to reinstall the current version. That did not fix it. I then submitted my activity log and the next day they requested that I remove, reboot, and reinstall. Still didn't fix it. So tonight, 4 days later and tired of waiting for a response, I downloaded a two month old version (hoping to avoid the security issue on the previous version) from OldApps.com. Add/removed the current version, rebooted, installed version 4.6.1.7860 and my copy/paste is working fine. I will try to update this post after I hear back from support. (first time poster BTW)
  8. Hi! I'm constantly trying this.. I found the following forum entry, but couldn't contribute to the topic, so I'ver created a fresh reqest for the bug fix. I understand that I can right click, copy image, and paste into evernote, or drag to the finder then an open note, but would love to be able to drag directly from FF to an open note. Thanks!
  9. Been using Penultimate for a few days now. It's great, but a few functions are either missing, or I can't find. Many have been talked about in other threads, such as syncing, tagging, moving to different Notebook in Evernote, etc. The things I haven't seen before: Can you crop images? I can't find a way. An invisible layer over the current page. There is talk of "highlighting", but I'm thinking of an entire invisible layer you can on which can be easily removed/hidden and will not change the layer(s) below. Think Layers in Photoshop. If these are available: Please let me know how to use them. If these are not available: Please make them available, then see "If these are available:" above.
  10. I'm having trouble figuring out how to clip an image or diagram from a powerpoint slide or PDF. I don't see any option to web clip in the powerpoint and the only option I can seem to find for PDFs ends up sending the entire PDF to evernote instead of just one image or diagram I wanted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Hello, Is that possible to hotlink the images in note? E.g. when share note via web, images are downloaded from third-party server, not Evernote internal storage? (I want to make a simple page view counter) Thanks.
  12. I'm an architect and I'm using Evernote daily in my work. I'd like to be able to add a favorite preview image into a note. Something like this: http://d.pr/i/czHS I think it is a useful features for architects and photographers in order to organize their works. Sorry for my english. Thanks.
  13. I recently captured a number of images through the EN/Android app directly (using the Snapshot button within the app). Every time (literally, 100% of the time), the resulting Evernote preview has the orientation backwards (portrait images are shown as landscape, and vice versa). When I get home, I see that the Windows app shows the same - Always the incorrect orientation. Now here the strange part... If I click on the image in the Android app, it opens in the Android (native) image viewer correctly. Same on Windows... The image will always open correctly in any image viewer I choose. Stranger, still... I opened one in Windows, into Photoshop (where it naturally opened correctly), I did nothing but hit "Save" in Photoshop (didn't change a thing about the image), and lo-and-behold.... The Evernote preview was updated correctly. So, I learned that 1) The phone in the camera is correctly storing the orientation (since everything else will display the resulting image with the proper orientation), but 2) the EN preview generated from the Android side is screwed-up, and those errors are propagated across synced platforms, and 3) when EN/Windows is forced to re-generate a new preview, it does so correctly. Since this demonstrates that there's nothing wrong with the images, and that the problem is clearly in previews generated from the EN/Android app, does anyone have any suggestions to make this right? The phone is just a really common Samsung Galaxy S running the stock Samsung Gingerbread.
  14. I use livescribe to send my handwritten notes to EN. I've found that EN can find words in an image of the livescribe note better than in a pdf. The success ratio (based on a limited test) is 4:1. Having said that, there are times when EN found the word in the pdf, but not in the image. Going forward, I'll be converting my notes to images to send to EN. I was wondering what other peoples experience is.
  15. Just been getting messages from people on forums saying "I can't see the graph you posted" or "what happened to your images". Turns out that Evernote seem to have quietly turned off image linking. Now the only option is to link to the Evernote page which not only doesn't allow hotlinking, but shows my Evernote username. A big no-no! Apart from the extra step of "right click, copy image link", Evernote made screen clipping really easy. So now I've had to move to a Google chrome extension and min.us. A bit of a PITA to have to go back and replace the most important images with min.us versions; some notice would have been nice. As far as I can tell, it was working just fine until middle of last week. In addition to this latest thing, when I found it wasn't possible to selectively sync folders, I had to quit my premium subscription in favour of Dropbox. It's a shame, I thought Evernote was going to be my "home for everything", but being forced to sync 2Gb over a slow connection to a full SSD to sync one text note made that a no-go, and Evernote lost the pro revenue. So, yes, I'll still be using Evernote as a glorified note-taker, but it seems that Evernote actually seem to be finding reasons for people to NOT use it or buy a pro subscription.
  16. Hello, I am fairly new to Evernote, and love it dearly so far. I have found many useful things in the "Trunk." But, I'm still in search for something, and maybe you can help. I'm looking for something that will take my pictures i put into evernote, and convert them to PDF, so I can select and copy text. Let's say, I take a picture of a homework assignment, and I need to copy a portion of the paper. If I just take a picture, the text becomes searchable, but you can't select it, at least not that I know of. Do you know of anything that can help me in this area? Thanks!
  18. Hi, I was wondering what the difference was between attaching a file to a note vs dragging and dropping the file straight into the note itself. For example, if I scanned a bunch of documents, what would be the difference if I attached them to a note vs if I dragged them into the note. I can see that there is a visual difference, i.e., when I drag and drop them into the note, they actually appear as part of the note vs if I were to attach them, they don't appear as part of the content of the note. However, are there any other differences that I should be aware of, like ability to search those Evernote-OCRed JPEGs? Thanks, -Yaakov.
  19. I take pics of schematics then share them with EN to have a reference in my pocket (HTC Inc2 Android 2.3.4). The images are clear on the desktop and Web client, but not on the Android client -- I can't read the pin numbers so it's kind of useless. I know that the phone is capable of displaying the detail I need as the original image is still in the Gallery and displays fine (clear, like the other 2 clients). I've tried to resolve the issue by making the image an attachment, capturing from within an EN note, emailing, and everything else I can think of. Does anyone know how to get a clean (hires) image in to EN?
