  1. I just installed the Web Clipper plugin on Chrome. When I clip a web page (or even just the link) the note causes issues in my desktop client: I can view the note once, but then I can't view any other notes. The app still works (I can click on notes, delete them, etc.) but I can't see their content. Restarting Evernote fixes the issue, but if I click on the web-clipped note again, same problem. I've deleted Evernote and installed the latest from the web site: Version 3.2.0 (300088), same problem. I've clipped pages on different web sites, same problem. Here's the page I tried to clip: http://www.imperialv.../hope9talk.html Thanks, Dan
  2. I have Evernote 5.5.1 and an 'up-to-date' version of Chrome on my Windows 7 system. Every single time I start Chrome, the first web page I try to start up hangs and will not load. If I simply try another page, or the same page again - there are no further problems. So this means I have to click on any URL twice to startup Chrome, or if I start it up with a home page, then that home page has to be loaded twice. It's very annoying. Firefox does NOT do this, but I prefer to default to Chrome. What does this have to do with Evernote? Well, in troubleshooting the problem, I disabled every add-in, one-by-one. I find that if I disable Evernote, the hang on first page problem disappears. Evernote reliably triggers the hang-on-startup problem, and no other add-in has any impact. Thus I must conclude that Evernote is hanging up Chrome upon start-up in some way. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?
  3. In the following I'm not only addressing the browser extensions, but also take into account Javascript bookmarklet solutions. I hope it's the right forum for both. Clipping websites takes too long! Especially on mobile devices with bookmarklets and sometimes weak connections, it's simply a pain. You click, it takes ages to load. You can't change the tab because the clipper closes when you do so (Chrome on Windows with Extension, Safari on iOS with bookmarklet). The browser extensions are getting slower than faster, by introducing features like tag detection (which I switched off immediately). The best "clipping" service I've seen so far is from the Read it Later service "Pocket". You only have to make one click and everything is stored. Optionally you can set tags after that. An approach like this would make things much easier and faster (works very fast, also on iOS browsers with weak connections) Of course there's the thing with the clipping area which you'd have to set. My suggestion herer would be: if something is selected, clip selected area if nothing is selected either clip (default changeable in the settings) URL whole website article (if detected) Give the pocket clipping a try, and you'll see that the en clipping unfortunately feels very oldschool and slow. Of course the service behind is a different one - and that's exactly why I'd love to see my favorite service with the best solution out there. As the EN community can be a little bit conservative sometimes it might be an idea to make this a seperate extension/bookmarklet code. Is this request somehow realistic at all? Any thoughts? Best, philipp
  4. I've tried to clip tweets and all replies to it at Twitter.com with the web clipper (by clicking on details to go to the specific status page for the single tweet), but it doesn't work properly. Any chance of making this work in the future? (and formatted like they are on Twitter.com) :-)
  5. I'm runing Firefix 14.0.1 and can't add web clipper by going to tools>add ons> and clicking install. I get an error message saying it can't download. I also tried downloading the file with the updated version of web clipper - the one that's in the pinned post in this forum. I click on the file, download it and then the system asks me what program to use to open the XPI file. Not having any luck at all here. Elizabeth

  7. Web clipper add-on for Firefox 13.01 on Mac. When I open options, the Send clips to Evernote web is selected. Cannot change to 'EN on your desktop', it is greyed out. I downloaded latest desktop client - 3.1.2 (257203) and have enabled 3rd party cookies. It clips OK to web version. Mac OS Lion 10.7.4. should I try appCleaner and then re-install? would I need to backup EN database first?
  8. Why is my Web Clipper in Safari 5.1.7 incredibly slow, even for clipping just the URL? Note: I suspect some conflict with my other sw. The Firefox installation of Web Clipper on the same machine works fine. Here are some config details: 15" Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo ((Early 2008, MacbookPro4,1) Mac OS X 10.7.4 "Lion" Safari 5.1.7 Web Clipper plugin just reinstalled All Apple sw updates applied Firefox 13.0.1 Web Clipper plugin just reinstallediClipboard 4.1.4 SOHO Notes 9.2.6 Evernote app Version 3.2.0 Beta 2 (300069), 138 notes, sync works fine Mike PS: BTW, I have the latest Xcode installed, so could do some debugging if that's helpful. Point me at the place to start.
  9. After I clip a page using the Clipper, it shows a black "Clipped title" box, which gives me the option to either view or edit my new note, and displays a Related Notes section below. It also displays a bubble pointing to the Related Notes tab, explaining what it is ("Related Notes: Evernote finds up to three notes in your account that are related to the page you just clipped and presents them here."). This bubble has a close button at the top right; when I point to the close button, I get a regular tooltip that says "Don't show this notification again". Therefore, I expected that if I clicked this close button, the bubble wouldn't reappear the next time I clipped something. However, it appears every time. It does close when I click the close button (or anywhere else on the bubble).
  10. Hi all I'm new to using Evernote and so far, I'm absolutely thrilled about the program It's really helped me organize a lot better. The only thing that rattles my newfound love for the program is that I don't know how to get around the webclipper. Ex. I'm copying a single word from a page with CTRL + C and then when I try to paste it in to Google with CTRL + V, it instead makes a new note in Evernote. We're both using Mozilla and Chrome at home here, and I really can't figure out how I stop it from doing that? Is there anyone who can give me a quick explanation? pref in a VERY simple language Thank you in advance
  11. I do not use Internet Explorer, I use Chrome. Does Evernote have any settings or registration tweaks I can implement to tell it to use Chrome rather than IE to sync? If this issue has been addressed, it doesn't come up using my search criteria, so apologies if I'm being redundant here. Thanks! -Tracey
  12. This may be posted somewhere, but so far I haven't found it. I noticed that I now have a little box at the corner of my Evernote Web Clipper icon with a '1' in it. What does this mean? I thought if I was being notified I'd be able to find it somewhere, but so far can't Thanks for the help.
  13. Hi Recently I have started getting errors when opening Firefox that appear to be related to Evernote webclipper. These messages don't appear when I open Chrome. This is what happens. I click the Firefox icon to open the appllication. Before the Firefox app opens, I get a series of short messages. (see below) Pressing "OK" to each one, clears the message and brings another one and eventually, once I've cleared them all Firefox opens. Once open, Evernote Webclipper does not appear to work ScriptLoader.load() failed Error opening input stream (invalid filename?) on chrome://webclipper3-common/content/libs/evernote/Common/Logger/Logger.js ScriptLoader.load() failed TypeError: Evernote.Logger is not a constructor on chrome://webclipper3-common/content/libs/evernote/Common/Errors/Exception.js ScriptLoader.load() failed Error opening input stream (invalid filename?) on chrome://webclipper3-common/content/libs/evernote/Common/Remote/EDAMResponse.js ScriptLoader.load() failed Error opening input stream (invalid filename?) on chrome://webclipper3-common/content/libs/evernote/Common/Serialize/SerializedNode.js ScriptLoader.load() failed TypeError: Evernote.Logger is not a constructor on chrome://webclipper3-common/content/libs/evernote/Common/UI/StackableViewMessage.js ScriptLoader.load() failed Error opening input stream (invalid filename?) on chrome://webclipper3-common/content/libs/evernote/FF/SimSearch/SimSearcher.js This has only happened recently - last week or so. In an attempt to resolve this I have updated to and am running the latest versions of Firefox - 13.0.1 Java - Update 5 build 1.7.0_05-b05 Webclipper - 5.1.0.252437 I'm running Windows 7, patched and up to date with all updates. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated. Many thanks Simon
  14. Hi, Evernote! Is it possible to use Evernote only on-line, without using my hard drive? I see I can create notes on your evernote.com site by typing a phrase. But I seem to fail to clip a piece of a text (for example, to clip a paragraph from this forum) without the necessity to open my Evernote application which lives in my Mac. I tried to clip with a clipping client on Mozilla Nightly and when I pushed the elephant in the right upper corner of my FireFox brouser, my Evernote local application would automatically launched. Before my clipping attempts I had left my local Evernote application. My OS is Mac 10.6.8.
  15. Enabling Web Clipper 5.5 prevents Chrome from loading the start page. After starting Chrome you will see a blank page and the "loading" message. That will go forever until you manually load the page from a button or manual url. Disabling the extension allows Chrome to work properly again. This was reported several times in the previous version so I was expecting to work in the last update. http://discussion.evernote.com/topic/25948-chrome-evernote-web-clipper-54-beta/page__view__findpost__p__140569 http://discussion.evernote.com/topic/25948-chrome-evernote-web-clipper-54-beta/page__view__findpost__p__144065 http://discussion.evernote.com/topic/26408-help-chrome-not-loading-with-clipper/page__view__findpost__p__141481
  16. Hi, Mozilla is working on a way to show PDFs within Firefox without the need of any third-party plugins. Here are some links for further information: https://wiki.mozilla...Show_PDF_inline https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/ And if you don't want to wait for its official release, you can install this little add-on to your current Firefox: https://addons.mozil...ox/addon/pdfjs/ The current version of the Evernote Web Clipper is not able to handle PDF-files shown over pdf.js but I hope that you guys will add this feature in future releases of the Web Clipper. BTW: It seems that Evernote for Windows is using some PDF libraries from Foxit Reader to show PDF-content. Maybe this little pdf.js could be interesting for that job, too. ^^
  17. Hey - I've trawled the forum here and haven't found anything that covers my problem, hence I'm starting afresh. I gather that Evernote Web Clipper should be compatible, as of a few days ago, with Firefox 13. Well, I've just tried to install the add-on for the first time and it doesn't even show up on my browser anywhere. I'm pretty tech savvy and I don't think I'm doing anything ridiculously stupid here - I'm just going insane trying to figure out why the icon isn't showing up. I've restarted the browser (obviously), and looked in add-ons. It's installed, enabled and from what I can see I should have the Evernote icon showing up alongside all my other add-ons, such as Fireshot and such like which are showing up fine. Any thoughts on this? I've tested it out on Chrome and the add-on is exactly what I need, but I prefer Firefox. Thanks.
  18. When I started evaluating Evernote a few months ago, we were using a web based helpdesk, which meant the customer communications via email & helpdesk forms could be clipped to Evernote within a web browser. Unfortunately, the help desk we used has raised their prices, putting it beyond the reach of our non-profit clients as an email & organizational tool. We've made a decision to move away from that solution and to a desktop email client. We chose Thunderbird because one of our missions is to use tools that are low-cost or free whcih we can then help our non-profit clients implement in their environment. I realize that Thunderbird was not supported at the time we started working with Evernote, but at that point we had no plans to go to a desktop email client. The problem facing us is that there's no desktop email client which supports IMAP and which supports the Evernote Clipper other than MS Outlook and for this customer base, the cost of Microsoft Office products simply isn't an option when OpenOffice and Thunderbird are avaialable for free. So, we are faced with a dilema: Without Evernote Thunderbird support, how do we make use of Evernote in a manner which allows us to use Thunderbird efficiently? WE WOULD BE HAPPY TO LOOK AT A DIFFERENT EMAIL CLIENT if one exists that will run on the Window & Linux platforms and which supports both IMAP and Evernote. We'd even settle for an email client that supports both IMAP and Evernote only on Windows. Unfortunately, it appears that no email client other than Thunderbird exists which meets our requirements. What that means is that we're more likely to abandon Evernote than to abandon email use. I'm interested to know how others manage creating notes in Evernote from a desktop email client. I may be missing something simple that solves this problem. What we did before is select the text and clip it to a note where we would then adjust the title, tags, and notebook as needed. We could even use Clearly to clean up the formatting before selecting what we wanted to post.
  19. Hey there, I've just upgraded my firefox to version 13.0 and noticed that the evernote-plugin isn't working anymore. When googling I found -next to a lot of complaints- that evernote web cliper 5.1(?) is still under construction. To keep it short, here is my idea: How about adding some sort of "mail-me-when-launched-field" somewhere on the download-page? As far as I know it wouldn't take too much an effort to put some email distributor up, but it certainly would eliminate the need for constant check in and therefore raise customer satisfaction. anyhow; All the Best, Morris Moss
  20. Since the new clipper was released, I cannot clip selections. Once it makes the selection, the page turns black or the print becomes very large and inverted. Either way, the text is unreadable. I have deleted he clipper twice and reinstalled and deleted all cookies related to Evernote. The clipper worked once this morning after I deleted and reinstalled but when I tried to clip again, the selection went black.
  21. Can you guys please make the evernote web clipper open source? It is a great start and really makes the product great as a whole. However, I think I and probably others out there can help you guys make it a great plug-in. Often times the extension will select way more than just the article -- including ads and other ancillary garbage. However, I do like how it allows you to maintain the visual style of the article. I think the ideal state, which I would like to help you guys get to would involve improving the visual representation of the CSS div breaks so that you can unselect the sections you don't want to use -- even asynchronously. What I mean is that discontinuous sections should be selectable and then stitched so to speak into the final note. Also I want to try making the plug-in take suggestions from the page itself for Tags. Many articles across websites have a div section that identifies the topics to which the site files the article. These topics could be auto-included as a Tags. Furthermore, the web clipper does not seem to extract the listed author and embed properly into the note. Again, let me please help -- or at the very least can I please get the source under some license so that I can improve it for myself? I spend too much time post-processing and curating the notes that the chrome webclipper makes. Sorry if this has been discussed, or if the code actually is already available somewhere. I did a search and didn't find anything relevant. Thanks. EDIT: I just noted that I should be able to access the code. Thanks
  22. greetings. it seems I'm no longer able to compose new tags with a character count/length greater than 30 though I am able to select *existing* tags that have 30+ characters ... is this change intentional and if so is there any way to lift the restriction? Environment: Windows 7 SP1 64bit Chrome v19.0.1084.52 m Web Clipper v5.4 Build ID: 251294 Context: All other Extensions DISABLED To Replicate: Click on Evernote Web Clipper extension icon Insert cursor in the field labelled 'Click to add tags' Type any string of text longer than 30 characters Screenshots:
  23. When i try to import selected text from a particular web page into desktop client i get this errormessage: An error occurred while processing clipped data (import failed: MISSING_NOTE_TITLE) Can i fix this problem, since i would really like to be able to clip from this page.
  24. Greetings, all... At the request of a client, I've tweaked the 5.1.0.241767 beta of the Firefox extension to install under SeaMonkey, on all previously supported platforms and added support for OS/2 (which is handled like Linux, but uses the same path separators as Windows). I've tested it under SeaMonkey 2.7.2 on OS/2 (eComStation 2.1), 2.9.1 on openSUSE 12.1, and 2.9.1 on Windows 2000 (I don't have a Mac handy at the moment). I'd like to submit the changes to Evernote for possible inclusion in official releases, but need approval as the code does not appear to be open source.
  25. I installed the web clipper on my ipad using the instructions (adding a bookmark, overwriting, etc.) It worked for a while but now when it tries to close after clipping a web page it goes into an endless loop.
