  1. Hello: Please help on the strange Web Edit and Clip functions on Chrome 13. 1. Web Edit Use Evernote web version on Chrome 13/WinXpsp3, I can not edit my new and stored notes. No edit bar appear at all. On the other hand, use IE8/WinXPsp3, edit bar can appear and edit work OK. Any thing wrong with Chrome ? 2. Clip Use "clip to evernote" Chrome externsion to clip a selected text in Yahoo email page, I can ony see "get full page" and "get URL" two options. Is it correct ? Why there is no "selected area" option ? Please help ! Thank a lot !
  2. I love the Web Clipper Chrome Extension. I use it many times during the day. One of my favorite features is the ability to "Clip article" and have the "cruft" removed. However, the way it is currently implemented could be much better with a simple tweak. The problem is, you can't really inspect the area being clipped on articles that extend beyond the part of the page visible in the browser window. As soon as you try to scroll downwards the Clipper floating dialog box disappears, taking your recently entered title, tags, and Comment with it. For at least "Clip Article" please consider leaving the dialog up there until the article is clipped, or the ESC key is hit. If you are worried about some EN users not liking this change, then please make it an Option setting with the default being the original behavior. Thanks. Back to downloading the Web, one Note a a time. -- roschler
  3. This is a cross between a feature request and a borderline error. Currently with the Chrome Evernote extension if your clip attempt can not be executed you get a warning message and you are sent back to the web page. For example, this happens frequently when dealing with pages that use iframes and you try to clip the "full article". You get can get an error message telling you the clipper can not clip the page and are told to select the desired text you want to clip. Unfortunately, when you do make that selection and press the Evernote button to try clipping again, the dialog box is empty. All the tags you entered and the comments you added are gone and you have to re-enter them. Obviously this is not a huge problem, but it would definitely be a nice "enhancement" if the dialog displayed your last clip input. That could even be a good general feature between clips, especially if you're like me and find yourself re-entering the same 4 or 5 tags multiple times when clipping several documents in a row during a clip session, a phenomenon that occurs frequently when you are examining multiple documents from a common web search. If you're worried that some users might not like this behavior then it could be one of the Evernote configuration options. -- roschler
  4. Has anybody else specifically selected a destination Notebook when doing a Chrome extension web clip only to find the Note in a different Notebook when you click on View/Edit from the "clipping finished" notification popup? I wasn't sure at first but now I've had at least a few cases of this, and since I've been wary, it has happened when I specifically double-checked the destination Notebook I selected before clipping the note. -- roschler
  5. I was attempting to clip the API Developer Overview page using the Evernote Chrome Extension: http://www.evernote.com/about/developer/api/evernote-api.htm I every time I tried the page would "crash" with the Chrome "Aw, Snap!" message. I set up a test where completely deleted the extension log right before attempting to clip the same page. Again it crashed so I am posting the Extension log here if it can help: -- roschler
  6. Hi, When clipping a website link or article to Evernote, it is not allowing me to assign a tag or comment via the google extension which makes the process inefficient. Should it be allowing me to do so? There a line to do it but it is not permitting it. Thank you! Tom
  7. When I use the Chrome clipper to clip webpages and add tags, the clipper tries to suggest tags. The problem is, it can only suggest tags in Latin letters. My main language is Chinese. It can't suggest Chinese tags. To make things worse, the clipper tries to suggest Latin tags while I'm trying to input Chinese. The suggestion interferes with my Chinese inputting and generates weird outcome. That's very annoying. I'm sure you can fix this because the desktop version of Evernote can suggest Chinese tags perfectly. So, please do it! Thank you!
  8. So, I've tested the Web Clipper in every supported browser across all supported platforms. What I've found, as the subject says, is a uniformly inconsistent set of results. IE9 & Chrome (Mac) seem to have the best overall output on Full Page Web Clips. The biggest Issues: Repeating CSS Background-Image Graphics Are Not |or| Are Partially Appearing: This seems like a fairly simple issue to resolve. What's happening is that the BG-Graphics are cut-off [or are completely excluded from the conversion all together] where the graphic "repeats" beyond the viewport (or area of the page that is currently in view inside of the browser window). Missed Links w/ BG-Images: Some Links in Chrome & FF don't always get picked-up, and instead, show an outlined box with visited-styled link text inside. I'm pretty sure that these are carry-over faults from Adobe PDF technology itself, and I also found that the Adobe Acrobat Pro Utility itself does a somewhat better job (yet, still suffers from primarily the same issues). Though, I'd still love to see these issues get resolved as it would mean Flawless-Webpage PDF's. Thx! ~JR http://jrod.info
  9. I have lot's of clipped url and all of them are rendered wrong in the web client under Chrome. They show up fine in Firefox. As you can see by the screenshot, the link text overlaps the site link. This happens in the old and new website.
  10. Hello! After registering for Evernote in 2009 I've finally decided to put it to good use. I logged in today, reorganized my nine or so clips and made new notebooks. I deleted two old notebooks that were automatically generated from my Google accounts. However, I cannot clip any new items to my new notebooks. When I use the Firefox clipper, I get the option to save to the two old notebooks - but that's it. I have tried restarting Firefox but that doesn't help. Since the old notebooks are not longer in my queue and I have no other options for saving, my clips are being lost in the ether. Has anyone encountered this before? Advice?
  11. Just implemented EN on Thesis blog. Everything works fine--BUT the clip function preserves the light text color and puts it on a white background--making it damned near invisible. Is there a way to instruct EN to alter the text and/or background color when clipping from the site and pasting into visitors' notebooks? If not, EN is useless to me. Which would be a pity. Thanks for any help! Here's a sample page to clip: http://makeyourbookamovie.com/make-your ... ywood/121/
  12. One particular page I tried to clip has seem to have gotten it stuck and it won't upload any clips. Every clip thereafter just adds to the count. I don't mind clearing it out and losing those clips, but I don't know how. Any suggestions?
  13. In the new web UI, pasting plain text from clipboard into a note still does not work  !!! The browser is IE8 on XP SP3. Pasting works perfectly in Google mail, Live, and all other sites I visit on this machine. Is it just me? Nobody else has this problem? Agree that Evernote is a very special app, but just in this aspect can you please be like others? I have the Windows app installed on other machine, but on this machine I can use only the web interface. And no Firefox etc. -- pa
  14. Hi all, We have an update to the Firefox Extension that supports native / local clipping for Windows. Please take it for a test drive and if you find any unexpected behaviors let us know. We are also working duly on Mac support. File is attached in note below: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s13/sh/f ... 5deb57637e Thanx for your patience!
  15. This issue is very similar to the thread Evernote Chrome is slow and unuseable: http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=22576&hilit=GOOGLE&start=25 with one addition: Chrome (Windows 7 64-bit) would not stop uploading Here's what happened: 1. I received a message yesterday stating I was at 75% of my free uploading quota for a one month period. 2. I kept clipping (both URLs and complete pages) a few more times and noticed the Chrome extension was indicating I had two notes in queue then wouldn't clip anymore. 3. At the same time, my computer began to upload a large amount of data (138 kbps) that stopped when I closed Chrome, but started again whenever I opened Chrome again. 4. After scanning for viruses and spyware with nothing found, I started Task Manager and it verified Chrome was the program uploading. 5. Today I searched Google's help forum for Chrome and found a similar problem had been reported in October 2010 and had yet to be resolved: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=750ff6a1ae03b1d7&hl=en&fid=750ff6a1ae03b1d70004a00dca9f40c4 6. I had been planning to upgrade my membership anyway, so I upgraded today, hoping that would solve the problem; it did not. 7. Because the Chrome Web Clipper still hadn't synced, I removed the extension which solved the upload problem. I didn't check to see what IP address Chrome was uploading to, but I assume it was the same address and posted the fix on Chrome's help forum. I found the above mentioned thread on this forum after searching to see if anyone else had the same problem. As far as Clip to Evernote version 4.2.13.6903, to this point its been hit or miss. I did a few test clips (clipping URLs and complete pages) and two worked, one didn't. Until this bug is fixed, I'll be keeping the Evernote desktop client open to verify important clips make it into my notes.
  16. Is this coming back?? I have no desire to clip to the web interface. No that this is broken, my workflow is seriously hindered. Should I move on, or wait impatiently until this function is restored?? Thanks!!
  17. I tried to clip the following web page (entire page) using the Evernote extension for Chrome (11.0.696.25 beta) and had the clipping window show me the error "Bad Data Format" in red at the bottom. (see image below.) http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat/9/ ... plete.html I was able to clip the main body/images on the page after selecting them (rather than using "entire page" clipping.) So there seems to be something with the entire page that's keeping the clipper from clipping the page. (I do run NotScript, so scripting was off for the designboom.com and tailsweep.com domains, although I'm not sure why that would cause the problem.) This isn't a major problem, but it's the first time I've encountered it and I thought you (Evernote) would like to know. Cheers.
  18. I just installed Firefox 4 on my MacBook Pro and see that the Web clipper clips to Evernote Web rather than to the desktop client (with optional Web) as in Firefox 3.x. As it happens, I like the fact it clips to the desktop client a lot - what's the deal here? Are we likely to see the functionality return soon? Thanks, Des
  19. Hello all, I've previously been using Firefox on OSX with the Evernote extension - I mostly use it to save particular images into Evernote (cmd click - send to Evernote). This is incredibly useful as I'm a graphic designer and mostly use Evernote to save images into relevant style galleries and so on. I've just switched to Chrome, and I only seem to be able to save particular bits of text or whole web pages into Evernote. Am I missing something? Is there a way I can duplicate that functionality in Chrome?
  20. I have been having occasional problems with corrupted selected and full page clips using latest stable Chrome and Evernote clipper. e.g. http://www.food.com/recipeprint.do?rid=412634 The problem is visible in Evernote Web, EN for Windows, and EN for iOS. The clip appears to be correct if the note is edited on the web, but, saving the note returns to corrupted view. Interestingly, the same url clips properly in Firefox.
  21. My chrome clipper extension has been working fine up until 3 days ago, when all of a sudden I tried to clip, I got this error message: "Problem communicating with the server [HTTP 0] I've tried to uninstall and re-install but this didn't help. Has anyone else experienced this?
  22. The installation of the Safari plugin terminates with "Onbekende installatiefout / Unknown installation error" clipper plugin 112139 safari 5.0.3 (6533.19.4) Mac OS 10.6.6 regards Jan Volbers
  23. I use the Windows Version 4.1 on my Vaio and the Web Clipper, but it doesn't work for IE. Everytime I try to add content to Evernote via right click and 'Add to Evernote 4' it says (I hope my translation into English isn't too bad) there's a script error ('the automation server can't create object') and: res://C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote\EvernoteIE.dll/204. The program - of course - doesn't start then. So, can anyone help me? Thanks!
  24. Firefox Webclipper worked great for months - today I can no longer login. Trying to clip a webpage in FireFox but it keep saying username/password combo not valid. I can login to the website so I still have a valid account. Versions: Firefox 3.6.12 Webclipper add-on for Firefox 4.0.0.106602 Win 7 Home Professional 32-bit Steps I tried: uninstalled and reinstalled the webclipper add-on and that didn't help... Any ideas? Thanks... Doug
