  1. Hi, somewhere in one of the latest betas this feature appeared: CMD+Select to highlight text. It's very annoying. How can I remove it? It continuously interferes with a copy and paste workflow, where I try to select and copy (by pressing cmd+c) and the text gets highlighted and copied with the yellow highlighting. This is very, very annoying. How can I deactivate this feature? You may also want to rethink this keyboard shortcut, as cmd is used for so many things that this shortcut gets easily in the way. Maybe using the option key would be less troublesome. Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi all, Realised topic is misleading - im looking to retrospectively highlight or change the color of existing handwritten text. New user of Evernote and loving it - I'm using it for taking and organising handwritten notes for work. Question that I'm hoping someone can help out with: Is there a way to retrospectively change the color of handwritten text? I know you can choose different text color while taking notes, but i sometimes find myself needing to highlight existing notes. Is this feature supported within Evernote? Cheers in advance for any help. J
  3. In some cases I need to print a document I've stored in Evernote. When I use the search interface to find what I'm looking for, say "Insurance Toyota", the chosen document will have those words highlighted within the document. The trouble is when I want to print it prints with all those highlights. If I un-search for the document of course the highlights go away but so does the document. How can I search for a document but print it without the highlights? A lot of my documents are simply in my "Personal" folder with no particular tags. This makes searching more necessary but results in highlighted words throughout the document. How can I avoid this? Any suggestions? Thanks.
  4. Is it possible to capture text highlighted on a page of a printed document to a new note. use case: read document and highlight important text use mobile phone Evernote to open camera an capture page only highlighted text is captured to a new note
  5. I did a quick search and could not find this suggestion before so here goes: I wonder if the OCR process can be made to read highlighted text (maybe just of one specific configurable, calibratable color) and automatically assign those as tags for the note. Possibly even have a way to assign a title, say first text it finds that is highlighted and underlined. Thanks for reading.
  6. Hi everyone! I'm new here. I like how Evernote stores web pages as editable notes. However there are times when I need to have the web page stored as a pdf. This is for instance when I need to highlight and annotate/comment on the content, rather than editing content. Also, I require the highlighting and commenting to be in pdf format, not in a the snapshot style. So the question here is can Evernote save a webpage as a pdf directly into Evernote? Is this doable currently and if not can this be added as a feature? Thanks!
  7. Hi I have a feature request that seems incredibly obvious to me and am quite shocked its not included already. The ability to highlight and change font color from a mobile device is very important to almost all forms of note taking and I am very sure all Evernote mobile users would greatly appreciate this option. It is already implemented in the desktop suite but not on the mobile side. It couldn't be to incredibly difficult to carry his feature over to mobile devices. This is my primary desire for mobile editing of notes, but because the mobile apps do not currently support this, Evernote is essentially limited to a note viewer and I must use desktop portals to create and edit notes with highlights and modified font colors.
  8. Does anyone know of a 3rd party or workaround to enable brighter colors to the hightlighter? Brighter colors would be a monumental improvement allowing faster focus on important details. I don't know why the current dull color was chosen but being different for it's own sake is not always a good idea. anyone?
  9. I'm a Mac Premium user and have had Evernote for a couple of years now, but have only recently become a huge fan. Love the application, but the lack of being able to highlight text within a note limits my ability to use Evernote as fully functional note taking app. Before I invest more time in loving this app -- can someone tell me if this is even on the table as a future (short-term) update?
  10. I have seen various posts about the missing Fill feature in Skitch, and discussions around why it was removed (lack of use :/) and that it is on the feature request list for the future. However, I wanted to create a more official request for it with some specifics in hopes that others will add their votes and wants related to this feature. We heavily used the Fill feature in Skitch 1.0 specifically with the half-opacity grey in order to highlight specific things on screenshots for our documentation. The lack of this feature is really a big gap for us in Skitch. We used this in conjunction with the existing shape tool to draw the user's eye immediately to the area(s) we wanted. It provided an easy way to craft these images quickly and the results were truly great. Especially since the Skitch tagline is "Draw Attention", this would seem to be a key feature to enhance Skitch by doing exactly what you're marketing for. The alternative mentioned in other posts, using the pixelate tool, is too drastic and obscures the background image way too much for our needs. The pixelate feature is a good one for sure, but not for this specific use. Now our images provide less focus to the callout areas for the user unless we edit in another piece of software. I assume the Fill feature is still on the roadmap somewhere... does it also include the ability to fill areas with semi-transparent color? And is there any timeline you could share as to when we might see it? I'm happy to participate in providing other use cases, testing, or whatever other kind of input you may need to help understand the need for this missing feature. I hope others will chime in as well. My example:
  11. Using the OSX Evernote app. When I search for words across all notebooks or notes, the notes are filtered to show the notes that contain the search word. When I open the document, the word is not highlighted Anyone able to help?
  12. Thanks for the Highlight Tool I just wanted to give a special thanks to the Evernote Mac Dev team for providing the Highlight Tool. I must, literally, use it 100 times a day. I capture, create, and edit a lot of content daily, and it is VERY HELPFUL to be able to highlight the key, important text in each Note. I know it must seem like I mostly complain about Evernote, but as a whole it is a great tool. My "complaints" are made with the best of intentions: To improve Evernote (as I see it). It did take us a long time to convince you to provide this tool, but you finally came through in the end. OK, now that I buttered you up , it sure would be nice if you could provide us with a drop-down list of multiple, user-selectable, colors for the highlight color. Many thanks!
  13. hello i have browsed a lot of PDF Highlighting topics here but all seem to be of complaints before Evernote added Highlighting to the mac desktop client. I am trying to highlight a passage in a PDF note. i select the text and the tool bar on top shows up. then i click on the little Highlight icon and... nothing happens. why? is it because i am not Premium? the highlight feature works fine on text that i type in a note. thanks so much!
  14. Hello, I've been trying to use Evernote as a highlighting tool, to create an article, highlight 3-4 relevant sentences that I deem valuable from said article, throw a tag on there and send it to my Evernote. Essentially, I want to aggregate highlights/notes instead of having to aggregate entire articles that are highlighted with Evernote. I have been trying to do this for about a year now but have found no effective way to do this with Evernote, or any other tools for that matter. If anyone has any suggestions on how to highlight multiple pieces of a document (similar to Diigo but with all other Evernote functionality, such as notebooks, etc), that would be amazing! Thanks so much!
  15. Thank you for Evernote. A few for the wish list. 1.In my field, documents are big and long, and as I read, i feel the need to add more tags for later reference. Currently if I want to add a NEW TAG while editing, I have to interrupt my reading on the iPad (often coming out of edit mode) and go all the way up to put a new tag in which is not at all time efficient, and is dis-incentivising. Suggestion: The option to add a tag from the top bar, while reading on iPad, without having to scroll all the way back up would be very useful. This could be add tag option next to the reminder button, or within one of the buttons as a drop down. In this context, while editing, the note often jumps to the top, autoscrolling if you may, which is particularly prominent if the finger strays outwards to the white areas. 2. Secondly on ipad, when editing a document the screen is not being fully utilised and space is minimal due to the snippet window on the left, and the typing pad at the bottom. (see attached)Suggestion: Having the ability to hide the left sided bar (if in snippet view) would be great as it would provide more space to zoom into the document. 3. Is there going to be some colour choices for mark up of documents? Not critical but enhances the mark up experience! Access to the highlight tool in the context sensitive popup would be useful. Currently only the bold/italicise/underline is available in there. Thank you for considering
  16. Using the OSX Evernote app. When I search for words across all notebooks or notes, the notes are filtered to show the notes that contain the search word. When I open the document I would like searched word to be highlighted. Can this be done? Would be very helpful for large notes, with embedded documents etc. Anyone able to help? Cheers
  17. I can't seem to find a way to highlight text on either my iPad or iPhone. The desktop version has a highlight tool in text formatting toolbar...am I missing something here or is this basic feature not included in the iOS versions? I'm not talking about PDFs either...plan ol' text imported into Evernote through Web Clipper or email.
  18. I have had major issues with the search feature of evernote in both the windows and web clients. I have the newest version of the windows client. Evernote prides itself in the ability to search, but it appears as though it is not working. This is making it very challenging for me to be productive. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, any advice? Thanks. Link to images: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B9KreswXjNIYeUpTX1RtVzZySWc&usp=sharing
  19. Hi all. Apologies if this has been asked before, but I'm trying to highlight some of the text I've written in Evernote (for mac). I'm revising for exams and I find it's much better when I can highlight specific words. So far, all I can do is change the colours of the text, but I don't really want to have bright yellow or green text, just a bright green background behind particular words. I've noticed that if I write text in Microsoft Word, and highlight it there, I can coy/paste it in to Evernote and the highlight shows. Is there a really simple way to do this, that I'm overlooking? Ideally, I'd like a quick keyboard shortcut that would allow me to highlight a word I've just typed, and press (CMD & something else) to highlight it, for instance. Thanks in advance for your help. Carlston I'm using Evernote for mac on a mid-2010 intel iMac EDIT: I've just seen a request sent out for a highlight, which was responded with "we're onto it", but this was way back in 2009. Surely some progress has been made in the 3 years since the first request.
  20. All I want for Christmas is to be able to highlight text in my note entries from Windows or MacOS based Evernote platforms. I believe there is an option for this on the toolbar using the iPAD. However, on the computer based programs, you only have the option to change the color of the text. Someone get this on the next Evernote software update pleeeeeeease.
  21. Is there some way to reverse the search highlighting? I really don't care much at all where the key words are in the document. I only care which documents have the key word(s) I typed into the search. I seriously dislike that when the document has this transparent black over the whole document other than the key words. I can't quickly read it clearly, i have to click in the document to make the somewhat transparent black disappear. Do you really need to show me how good your search is by just highlighting the key words and blacking out the rest of the document? I trust your search works reasonably well! So please let me get to my content quickly! Just, lightly highlight the key words, or let the users choose how dark they wish to highlight. Thanks in advance for any help.
  22. I would like to see a highlighting / commenting system like in Google Drive. Collaborators can highlight a selection of text and leave a comment that shows up in a side panel. They have a Resolved button that deletes the comment or you can add more to the comment. Of course Google's system only works on the web version and doesn't carry over to mobile so it's useless. I would also like to see a unified text editor across all devices. Currently some options are only supported in web, mobile or desktop. For instance if I want to add Quoted text, I can't do it on the web. Have to go to mobile or desktop. And lastly, it would be helpful to be able to share an entire Stack of Notebooks. Right now I have a stack I want to share with colleagues and all I can do is share each notebook. Every time I create a new notebook in that stack I have to share it with them.
  23. Hi guys, I'm looking to "highlight" text using a background colour (much like you would with a physical highlighter - is this possible? If not, can I suggest it for a future version please?
  24. I have noticed that if I search for text in a pdf, the search results are correctly highlighted in the currently opened note, but when I switch to view the results in other notes, the highlighting is shown about an inch lower than where the search string appears in the pdf. Sometimes a note containing the search term will only display the few inches of the pdf from the top. The rest of the pdf will simply not show... i.e. you can tell that the document continues, but the rest of it is blank. Scrolling the pdf sometimes gets the whole pdf to display. Clicking in the pdf sometimes gets it to display. Also, because of the way that Evernote dims the whole pdf except for the found search string, it can make reading the pdf difficult. Is there an easy way to toggle between displaying the pdf dimmed with the search term highlighted, and displaying the pdf undimmed? I know that if I click in the pdf, the dimming will disappear, but how do I toggle back to displaying the highlighted search terms again. Lastly, has any thought been given to including a count of the number of times the search term occurs in the current note, and providing arrow buttons to allow the user to step through each occurance?
  25. Hi, I was wondering if Evernote or anyone found a way to select multiple sections within a web article/page and then save those selections via the clipper. I know you can highlight a certain section, but I'd like to highlight multiple parts of the page if possible. I don't know if this can be incorporated with Clearly but if they had this option it would be so awesome. Anyone else finding a need for this solution? FYI, I'm using Chrome on Windows 7. Thanks!
