  1. Just downloaded the new Android client (v5 on a Sammy Google Nexus running 4.2.2) and the incomplete note title problem when you edit a note (that was present on the beta) is still there. Essentially, only the centre/center of the title is visible so if it needs editing, you have to use the text selector to move to the off-screen text. In the pinned beta topic above, xdelplanque said it was because the text wasn't as condensed as on previous versions. It looks more like a justification problem to me though, rather than a font problem as the misalignment is too great to be down to a point or two's difference in font size. Only the central part of the title is visible too. If it was font size, you'd still see the start of the title, just less of it. (Reported to Support, too).
  2. I would really love it if, when editing a note, you could select several lines of text and click a button to have checkboxes appear next to each line item. Similar to the check box feature that you have now, but a lot better because you could add the checkboxes all at once. Another way to solve this problem would be to bring back Strikethrough. I don't know why text editors don't have this feature anymore - it was really great. Thanks!
  3. Hello, I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section, but I was wondering if anyone else had text formatting issues with Evernote. I've found the tab system to be a bit wonky and it's difficult. I tried to create an outline today, but once I increased my font-size, text on individual lines began to overlap. I had to add an extra line between lines of text and above my first line to get it to display correctly. Are there any plans to add new improvements to the text editor? I feel like that is the weakest part of Evernote - I love the continuum it runs on and the great synchronization!
  4. I'm disappointed to see that the latest version of Evernote that was just released (4.5.3.6131) still does not reimplement the change font size keyboard shortcuts. The User Guide (Note Editor section) says that Ctrl+Shift+> and Ctrl+Shift+< increase and decrease the font size. It also lists Ctrl+[ and Ctrl+] as alternative keyboard shortcuts. Unfortunately, neither set of shortcuts works. This is an issue I reported some months ago and was hoping would be fixed. Changing the font size is something I do all the time and it's tedious to constantly be switching from the keyboard to the mouse and back again. It would be great if we could get this simple feature reimplemented in the near future. Otherwise, thanks for a great product! David Salahi
  5. Evernote has been great on my Mac; using it for trade journal notes on investments & other stuff. Helpful would be a text color icon (like the one above) that could be inserted into the toolbar rather than going to Format>Text Color. Not a big thing; just useful. Good trade/day Hide your head in shame & the notes about other things. Thanks
  6. Although Evernote currently offers rich formatting options for text notes, there is no way to mark text regions as headings, subheadings, content, quotes, etc. I understand that most users probably format text by selecting text areas and fiddling with every little detail to demarcate content, but this is akin to banging rocks in a cave. It requires the user to: Come up with their own formatting convention (font size, style, colour, and other stylistic attributes) and memorize this Go through 3 or 4 steps just to format one line of text as a heading - click "font family", select, click "size", select, etc. Repeat step 2 for every stylized element in the document when editing a note originally composed on a smartphone, since there is no way to select font family, size, and the like on smartphones Given how onerous this is, some users don't bother with rich formatting at all and just use Markdown for all their notes. Of course, Evernote can't parse Markdown, so reading notes harkens back to reading on a monochrome 1974 teletype. I'm sure hipsters love this. LaTeX within Evernote would be nice. But you know what would be 100x better? Implementing text markup. If I could select a text region and mark it as a "heading", with all style info associated with the "heading" section applied automatically, I'd be one happy penguin. Make it a premium feature if you wish. I'll gladly pay for that.
  7. I've been using EN quite a while. Sometimes it drives me crazy, please help resolve the problem. Issue: when I'm copying formatted and colored text from any html page or from Word, Visual Studio to Evernote, sometimes Evernote pasting the text and it has all original colors in it, sometimes I just can't do it. For example: today I've copied some code from Visual Studio to Evernote and I got perfect colors: Then I thought: "Hm... what if I choose red color for text in Evernote (Button "A"), write something and then try to paste THE SAME text from Visual Studio." Since then when pasting there are no colors. I've tried making new note, choose different color in this "A" color button, reopen Evernote. Nothing helps! The text is just plain black after pasting. Doesn't matter what settings, what text Tried CTRL + Space(Simplify Formatting) - won't do. So the question is: I just want the colors when pasting text to Evernote. I know Evernote copies not only text, but its formatting too (from browser for example), but sometimes it just won't work and I can't do anything. What should I do? Please reply. Evernote version 4.5.4.6497 (235205) Public. XP SP3.
  8. Today I encountered quite singular behaviour of Evernote - version 4.5.10.7472. Having selected and copied into clipboard some part of Web page, I went to Evernote and create a new note (with Ctrl-N key), then pasted clipped text. It layed in the note with Source URL and formatting, as in original. Then I went to the note body, selected all text (Ctrl-A) and deleted it, after that - pasted clipboard again via "Paste as Text" option. Text appeared without formatting, as desired, so I closed the note. In the notebook, I have seen two notes - one with original HTML formatting (no plain text) and other empty note - without anything in it. Strange! Tested it several times with different web pages, the same result. Would appreciate comments - is this expected behaviour or it is a bug.
  9. Hello, I have been using evernote for past year or so and it has proved invaluable! Im also a premium user. However, I REALLY need formatting feature for creating headings. For example Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3. I use evernote like a word processor to create my notes and to organize things I need a way to create headings instead of selecting, select larger size and bold. Thanks! nevermind WYSIWYG - not what I meant - what i want is paragraph styles for easier organizing my content. -John
  10. When I review my Summary Notes, it takes all the text I have keyed and concatenates it removing all bullets and new line formatting so I can not work with it at the summary level but need to go into the detail of each note to plan. This is not conducive to overall organization across notes. I need to see the first part of each note the way I set it up so I can figure out how to put everything together. So for example, The beginning of one of my notes is set up as follows: House Repairs: Board for kitchen table Fix boards for my dining room table old Paint kitchen stool Windowsill in Dani's room In the Summary of this note, it shows as: House Repairs: Board for kitchen table Fix boards for my dining room table old Paint kitchen stool Windowsill in Dani's room So no bullet separators and no new line formatting. I cannot work with this and I cannot put it together with the other 8-20 notes I have without going into the detail of each and then I lose context. I assume there is some way I can set a parameter so my summary will show the proper list the way I have it set up. Can someone advise what I should be setting where to make this happen? Carol P.S. I have been reading the forum and the help and can find nothing on this - can someone please point me.
  11. Dear Evernote, You have a great service with Evernote and I consider every month or so to actually start using it professionally as a TODO + notes + archive app. Unfortunately it doesn't fit. The reason is simple – for me you have worst notes editor for text. It's almost useless for me. Let me (ex/com)plain. You have too many formatting options, but those are not simple enough to be useful. The formatting breaks very often when you paste something. Even checkboxes (TODO's) break. Sometimes delete a character, the whole bullet structure breaks. It really frustrates me! Look for example at TaskPaper. It has very simple formatting. Either it's a header (project), a bullet point, indent or a comment. It misses inline images, inline URLs and horizontal lines for example. But for me it's much more usable than Evernote's editor. What are notes? Basically it's text with headings in three levels, multi level bullets, todo checkboxes, comments, marked/bold/italic tekst, images/photo's. Sometimes tables. More or less what MarkDown supports. I would LOVE to have a simple formatting options which have above option. Not too many fonts, types, tables, etc. Just simple things for notes. That's what it is all about. A "fixed" formatting, like in TaskPaper, would be great. Extend it with inline images, colors, inline URLs, horizontal lines and you have a great note app. Is there anyone else having these problems with the editor? Thanks for your support! -- ddofborg
  12. Hello All! I'm having a strange issue with formatting. I can't seem to give any rhyme or reason to why this all happens. 1) When I am at the end of a line and press return, the line spacing above line 'A' changes and I get two lines below. I can delete them but when I make another line (after 'B') the line spacing gets changed again. 2) If I'm typing in a specific font, Helvetica, and press return, the font will change to Arial. If the previous line was bold, the the line I just left will reformat as bold too. It appears that this only happens in a note where text was copied and pasted from another document (Pages, Word, etc.) but I can't 100% say that is the case. A note from scratch doesn't seem to have any problems. My notes are somewhat a mess because of this and I don't care to go back and fix whatever Evernote is doing. Any thoughts? A bug? Thanks! System/Software Notes: Evernote 3.3, OS X (10.8.1), MacBook Pro Retina
  13. I can't seem to find a way to easily adjust margins on my notes for when I print them. That being the case, (if this is indeed not a feature yet) it would be great if I could do so. It would help me preserve paper and resources when printing notes.
  14. I have been an avid user of Evernote for more than a year now, and it is the perfect solution for my notebooking needs as a doctor However, I am not too happy about the formatting, I like using the bulleted/numbered list function, but in evernote this adds a lot of (IMHO) unnecessary blank space (margin) at the top and bottom of the list, breaking up the note and making it near impossible to get a compact note, I still have to fall back on using '-' to make my bulleted lists... I would very much like to see the possibility of defining ones own CSS style (on application level, note level, or preferably both), which should be eminently doable considering that the note format seems to be based on html (the export format and the editor on the evernote web interface is, would be little point in using a different format internally...), which I wager is then displayed in the application using a standard WebView/WebBrowser control that will easily support CSS. So, I will submit my request for implementation of style (or at the very least fixing the annoying space before and after lists) along with the numerous previous request for the same thing... Sincerely Tor Pedersen
  15. It would be greatly appreciated if Evernote had the capability to go into a "code view" for your notes if you so choose. The basic WYSIWYG editor is great for most cases, however I find myself wanting to do some formatting from time to time, or edit a document I did a clip of, that Evernote simply can't do without me marking up an html webpage instead, and then use the clipping tool again, and even doing some of the more simple things such as having lists inside other lists isn't possible on the mobile version of Evernote unless there's something I'm missing. The ability to optionally view and alter the actual markup of a note to edit it I feel would be a great asset for those of us who desire that little bit of finer control. This is one of the main drawbacks that is currently stopping me from using the Wiki System I currently use in it's place..
  16. I am sure these issues are addressed somewhere in this forum, but I would appreciate feedback. We recently switched from PCs to Macs and Evernote is an outstanding program that seems responsive to suggestions. I am converting years of OneNote data to Evernote. Here are some issues that I hope to see improved or maybe I missed: Printing Formatting needs improvement: It is very frustrating to print out a note with a 2 inch margin that can't be changed. New View for Note Only. Is there a way to hide the left notes columns to just view the note for a presentation? Need Tab Indentation Options like any other text program (including this message field) Ability to create custom notes sort order Tables: Need ability to adjust cells, add/delete columns, etc. OneNote had better screen flexibility - mix and move elements anywhere on screen Where are files stored? Are they included in a Mac Timeline Backup? Thanks!
