  1. The web clipper on both my computers and in both Firefox and Chrome stopped working this morning. I have uninstalled and reinstalled on both computers, done hard reboots, downloaded and tried a beta version I found on this forum, everything else I can think of. Nothing works. Sometimes I get just the URL downloaded even though I have the article as a default download, or occasionally the clipper will arbitrarily highlight and download a sentence or two. Other times I will get a script busy notice. Here are two that I just received and even though I was using Firefox, they both reference Chrome: Script: chrome://webclipper3-common/content/libs/evernote/FF/Native/WinNativeAccessor.js:71 Script: chrome://webclipper3-common/content/libs/evernote/FF/Native/WinNativeAccessor.js:65 Can anyone suggest anything I can do? I really love and depend on this app. Thanks in advance.
  2. Using Firefox 14.0.1 and Evernote addon 5.1.0.252437 under Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium. No problem logging into, and using Evernote directly from Firefox. BUT - if I attempt instead to ciip a web page using the Firefox *addon* by clicking on the Evernote button on the Firefox toolbar, it asks me to sign in before clipping and then rejects either the user name/email address or password (doesn't say which), saying that it's invalid. Any clues or solution suggestions will be welome!
  3. Web clipper add-on for Firefox 13.01 on Mac. When I open options, the Send clips to Evernote web is selected. Cannot change to 'EN on your desktop', it is greyed out. I downloaded latest desktop client - 3.1.2 (257203) and have enabled 3rd party cookies. It clips OK to web version. Mac OS Lion 10.7.4. should I try appCleaner and then re-install? would I need to backup EN database first?
  4. Why is my Web Clipper in Safari 5.1.7 incredibly slow, even for clipping just the URL? Note: I suspect some conflict with my other sw. The Firefox installation of Web Clipper on the same machine works fine. Here are some config details: 15" Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo ((Early 2008, MacbookPro4,1) Mac OS X 10.7.4 "Lion" Safari 5.1.7 Web Clipper plugin just reinstalled All Apple sw updates applied Firefox 13.0.1 Web Clipper plugin just reinstallediClipboard 4.1.4 SOHO Notes 9.2.6 Evernote app Version 3.2.0 Beta 2 (300069), 138 notes, sync works fine Mike PS: BTW, I have the latest Xcode installed, so could do some debugging if that's helpful. Point me at the place to start.
  5. Hi, Evernote! Is it possible to use Evernote only on-line, without using my hard drive? I see I can create notes on your evernote.com site by typing a phrase. But I seem to fail to clip a piece of a text (for example, to clip a paragraph from this forum) without the necessity to open my Evernote application which lives in my Mac. I tried to clip with a clipping client on Mozilla Nightly and when I pushed the elephant in the right upper corner of my FireFox brouser, my Evernote local application would automatically launched. Before my clipping attempts I had left my local Evernote application. My OS is Mac 10.6.8.
  6. Hi, Mozilla is working on a way to show PDFs within Firefox without the need of any third-party plugins. Here are some links for further information: https://wiki.mozilla...Show_PDF_inline https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/ And if you don't want to wait for its official release, you can install this little add-on to your current Firefox: https://addons.mozil...ox/addon/pdfjs/ The current version of the Evernote Web Clipper is not able to handle PDF-files shown over pdf.js but I hope that you guys will add this feature in future releases of the Web Clipper. BTW: It seems that Evernote for Windows is using some PDF libraries from Foxit Reader to show PDF-content. Maybe this little pdf.js could be interesting for that job, too. ^^
  7. Firefox 13, the latest Evernote Web Clipper, www: http://droidek.pl/infinite-sky/ I use "cut the selection" in Evernote Web Clipper. I received a note with a dark background ?? http://www.evernote.com/shard/s113/sh/fbc657ab-1e57-4608-b97b-a49802efed35/bb40e517bd16749471b78fb5addd9538 Why ??
  8. Hey there, I've just upgraded my firefox to version 13.0 and noticed that the evernote-plugin isn't working anymore. When googling I found -next to a lot of complaints- that evernote web cliper 5.1(?) is still under construction. To keep it short, here is my idea: How about adding some sort of "mail-me-when-launched-field" somewhere on the download-page? As far as I know it wouldn't take too much an effort to put some email distributor up, but it certainly would eliminate the need for constant check in and therefore raise customer satisfaction. anyhow; All the Best, Morris Moss
  9. Hi all, We have a new version of Firefox Web Clipper that has some nice improvements. - Web Clipper is now forward compatible with Firefox betas. Beta, Aurora and Nightly builds of Firefox should now be supported unless Firefox has a game changing rewrite in the works. - Clip quality improvements. Preserving styles and layout from web pages has been significantly improved for both web based clipping and clipping to native client. - Bug fixes Removed support for: - We've depreciated support for Firefox 3.6.x - Thunderbird clipper has been removed from the build. I'd like to encourage Firefox users to test it out and report any issues you notice back on this thread. Please include: OS version Firefox version where issue was observed URL where issues was observed UPDATE: This version is now released
  10. Hi there, just upgraded FF to v13 and the Clipper was disabled by default as it was found incompatible. Is this going to be fixed soon? thanx
  11. Ever since I upgraded to Firefox 12, the current version of the web clipper is broken. I’m using Windows 7, 64 bit. FF is set to allow 3rd party cookies. I have the clipper set to send clips to my desktop client. My client is running and is signed in. When I try to clip something I get a messagebox that says “Please sign in to Evernote before clipping.” (and nothing clips). I have tried the beta version of the FF clipper and with that I get a messagebox window with nothing in it, so I’m back to the latest release version. I haven't gotten much help from email support so trying here.
  12. Happens when I use the toolbar button. Otherwise if I right click and "Add to..." it's unable to save. When I can I'll try rebooting to see if it persists. Any thoughts?
  13. I use Evernote extensively for research, i.e. saving portions of websites and need a Comment field preferably at the top of the note. I need this to cue myself about why I thought that particular website or portion was significant for my project. When you copy over even sections of websites so many times the first line font can be very large and entirely inappropriate just a simple text reminder note. This WAS possible on the Firefox widget a couple of years or so ago until they disappeared. Preferably it would have a line space where you could start typing and the long line available to insert from the menu to separate it from the copied over note from the website? Is this now somehow possible? Thanks!
  14. From what I’ve seen, the majority of users who have commented about the Evernote Web Clipper for Firefox don't appear to be particularly enthusiastic about it. Is the version for Chrome considered to be better?
  15. Hello: I use Evernote Web Clipper 5.0.0.236819 as an add-on for Firefox 12. My screen resolution is set at: 800x600. Much easier on the eyes that way... However, I now find I cant operate the Web Clipper because the options to clip selected text or full page arent viisble on the screen, even when I zoom out a lot. Those options are far to the right of the filed of screen visiblity.. When I raise the resolution, I can do the clipping, as those options enter the field. I have not had to do this in past versions of the Web Clipper. I was able to clip without altering anything. However, I can't say precisely when this issue began since i hadn't tried to clip anything for a few months. Generally, I found that in problematic situations such as this, zooming out so that more of the screen enters field of screen visibility allows such applications to function quite well even at this lower resolution. Or by going to full page view. However, in the case of the Web Clipper, those wrokarounds don't help. Is there a way that I can use the Web Clipper at the resolution I use for my PC (800X600) ? It's quite an annoyance to have to later screen resolution system-wide just do do one web clip. Thanks in advance: -Eliuri ========== Windows XP Professional Edition SP3 Evernote Web Clipper 5.0.0.236819
  16. Any one have an answer to this one: I am running: : FF12.0/Win7 Sp1 with the LastPass tool bar/plugin. Web Clipper doesn't recognize when I am logged into evernote. It also doesn't let me log in. Any ideas or updates are appreciated. Thanks. Jason
  17. Using Windows 7, Evernote 4.5.6, Firefox 12, IE 9. Not sure what version of clipper I'm using although it was downloaded today. (how do I find the clipper version? In both Firefox and IE the clipped note goes to the Web notebook, not a local notebook as the documentation suggests. May be related, but I can't make a local notebook my default notebook. New to Evernote, so it may be operator error. Suggestions?
  18. After I installed the clipper on Firefox I keep getting this message every time I want to acess the URLs in my browser: jar:file:///Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/omni.ja!/chrome/en-US/locale/browser-region/region.propertiesfa I've tried switching Firefox into safe mode and I either have to disable the add-on (clipper) to get my old URLs back or leave the add-on, exit safe mode and not have access to the URLs stored in my browser's history. How do I fix this? Thanks!
  19. Hi friends, I can't save selected text on Safari. Watch this video for more details: http://www.screencast.com/t/pmCSsG29e It works fine on Google Chrome or Firefox but it doesn't work on Safari. Any help?
  20. Hi: I've been using Evernote for a while but just recently got into using it to clean up everything in life! I use FireFox, but when clipping web pages, I only get 2 options from the Evernote Add-On (the Full page and the URL) - I believe other Browsers offer a third option (Article). When I select Full Page, it jumbles up all the HTML, images, text, etc. togetehr and stuffs overlays the text so that it's impossible to separate out what I need. Other than highlighting ONLY the text I want (but I can't select some text, then one picture, then other text), does anyone have suggestions as to how to make FireFox work with clipped web pages so I capture the page the way it looks? I updated FireFox and the Add-On. Thanks! Ytzik
  21. All clips I make using the FireFox Clipper (Ver 5.1 Beta and previous) to clip a post in the EN Forums that have a numbered list are converted to bullet lists. Below is my current environment, but I have observed this over many different versions of EN Mac and many different versions of FF Clipper. Environment: * EN Mac 3.1.0 Beta 1 (241960) * Mac OS 10.7.3 * MacBook Air 13-inch (2011) * FF Mac 11.0 * Evernote Web Clipper 5.1.0.241767 (beta) PS. Another bug/problem: As shown above under "Environment", when I paste a bullet list from EN Mac to a EN Forum post, the bullets are converted to asterisks (*).
  22. What way do you find it best to web clip (to your Evernote app) selections in threads in this User Group? I'm running EN Mac 3.0.7 Beta 5, and for a long time now I still have not found a completely satisfactory way to clip a selection out of a thread into EN Mac. In fact, of all of the web sites that I clip, the clips from this UG are the most problematic. By that I mean that it takes a lot of manual clean-up after I make the clip. I suspect most of the problem comes from how the HTML is coded for this UG, although some issues may arise from the specific web clipper (FF or Chrome) and how EN Mac displays the result. IAC, I am trying to find a practical solution that works with the existing forum code and clippers. Maybe in the mid-long term there is something that Evernote can do with both to make the clips work better. But for now, I just want to make it work as best as possible with what I have. Using EN Mac, here are the options I see for clipping: (in order of my preference) Copy selection, then "Paste to Evernote" using the EN global shortcut key This auto creates a new Note and then pastes clipboard into it It sets the Note Title to the Page Title It does NOT set the Source URL field <=== so I have to set manually every time But it makes the cleanest clip I have been able to obtain It retains my EN default font as the base font for the clip But it allows "enhanced" formatting like bold, underline etc to come from the web page It allows text and tables to autosize width so that the text will word-wrap to the EN window size in all EN clients <==== this is very important to me But I still have to manually delete all of the undesired text/graphics after the posters UG name and the posted date/time <== this is my biggest complaint about clipping from this UG No matter how I select the text to copy, it NEVER includes the post# link on the far right of the top of the post. <== this would be very valuable to have so that you can go directly to the post from your EN Note. FireFox Evernote Clipper -- Clip to Cloud Allows user to enter/select NB, Tags, and add Comments BEFORE the clip is sent to Evernote Cloud <=== best feature of this method Note Title and Source URL are set from the web page Very inefficient use of Note Content space, which comes directly from the UG thread format/layout Clipped as a table with a lot a wasted space in the first column which mostly has undesired images/icons/text Right column is post contents, but with a very wide, fixed-width column that generally prevents reading of the post unless you maximize the Evernote Window. Results in very poor formatting on iPhone/iPad. Clean-up in the EN Note panel is very difficult since deleting text or changing text size results in unpredictable, unexpected, results [*]FireFox Evernote Clipper -- Clip to Local EN App This is generally the same as #2 -- has all the same problems Except that you cannot add Comments to the top of the Note [*]Chrome Evernote Clipper -- Clip to Cloud I haven't used this in a while, but it is about the same as #2 [*]Safari Evernote Clipper -- Clip to Cloud I don't use Safari for a variety of other reasons not related to Evernote, so this is not an option for me I use #1, Paste to Evernote, mostly. The main thing missing is 1.3 Set Source URL. In all cases, my selection is from the immediate left of the posters UG name to the last actual line of the last post (that I want to include), excluding the signature. If there is a better way, please let me know. All of the methods require significant manual clean-up due to how this UG forum HTML is coded. Unless the wizards at Evernote can figure out how to do a clean clip that eliminates the problem. So, what do you guys find works best for you?
  23. Hi all, Here is a new beta version with support for FF 11 Beta. Also includes: - Resolving conflict with 'Down them all' extension. - Bug fixes http://www.evernote....0dd4de2cb72cd56 To install open the note above. Double click the file icon and open with Firefox to install. Please report any issues you experience on this thread. Do mention your FF version, OS version and how to reproduce the issue.
  24. Is anyone else experiencing problems with the above running on Win7 64
  25. I've noticed that on several WordPress sites designed with the Genesis framework (copyblogger.com, problogger.net, chrisbrogan.com, etc.), I cannot successfully use the "Clip Article" feature of the Firefox Evernote app. Instead of correctly discerning the boundaries of the individual article like this: ... it fails to highlight anything as the "article": Is it just a coincidence that the sites I've had problems with are based on the same WordPress framework? Or is there something I can do on my end to guide the Evernote clipper into finding the article rather than having to grab the entire page (sidebar, ads and all)? Deborah
