  1. As the title says I want to directly import an ENEX file containing quite a number of notes. When I import a ENEX file it seems that it gets imported to the Personal side and I have to copy it to the Business manually. But I want to import the notes directly into one of the notebook in the Business. Is this possible? Am i just missing something? Thank you very much for reading my question.
  2. Many of us work primarily from a tablet, I work from iPad. There are many usability features missing from iOS that makes using Evernote extremely inconvenient. On iOS though we can see our tags, we cannot rename nor delete them. On iOS there is not a way to export our notes to a .enex On iOS there is not a way to import a .enex Those three missing feature are a tablet user’s Evernote deal breaker. Being able to work around them we must get to a computer. Many road warriors gave up on desktop computers, and as their laptops give up the ghost they are moving to tablets. I know some that gave away their laptops preferring the convenience of a tablet. Evernote’s web UI is abysmal, sorely lacking in features. Come-on Evernote, you need to put much more effort for us tablet users. Be aware, Bear and OneNote now have extremely good Evernote .enex import ability.
  3. I am a Premium member. I have a large .enex file (8.9 GB) that contains all my notes from a previous account over many years. It's very important to me. I exported the .enex from my old account a while ago, and Evernote was just fine letting me export all the notes into one large .enex file. Only now I'm trying to open that file in Evernote again to import all the notes, and I'm getting an error that says, "This action exceeds the 200MB limit. Please reduce the size of the file you're importing or upload fewer files at once." First of all, I was not aware that there was a 200MB limit. My account certainly should not have any limit, as I am a Premium member. Is this the limit for all uploads, or could there an error validating my Premium account? Second of all, if there is a limit (such as 200MB) to how much I can put into Evernote at once, then what am I supposed to do? As I said, my previous Evernote account allowed me to save the file at this size, and as far as I know there is no way to reduce the size or upload it in pieces. So how am I supposed to get my notes back?
  4. I have my notes stored in .enb files, and have been using Evernote V2 for a long time. However, I downloaded V6 (the latest version) and find that not only can I not open my .enb files in V6. There seems to be no direct way of converting them or importing them into V6. I picked up the posting at this URL: https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/84442-how-do-i-find-old-evernote-2-executables-to-migrate-enb-files/#comment-363265 I downloaded the EN2Export software and have it on my computer, but need to know how it works, how to run it, and how to direct it to convert a specific .enb file in a specific folder. Would someone please assist me with this. Stuart Aitchison
  5. Just for posterity... For those who stumble across this thread via a forum/ Google search, here's a straightforward blog post on how to back up and restore your Evernote data: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2932989/syncings-not-enough-how-to-back-up-and-restore-your-evernote-data.html The premise is the following: "Syncing's not enough... syncs can go awry. Cloud services can go down. Here's how to ensure your notes are there when you need them."
  6. I made an AppleScript that will export all your EN records to an enex file. They are store in your Library/Application Support/Evernote-Backups folder If that folder above does not exist, it will be made for you. There are no code changes you need to make, just run the script, and you will end up with a time and date stamped backup. run it once a day, once a week, as you see fit. I was trying to do this all in a shell script with HEREDOCs but it was not working or proving too time consuming. Had I been able to, I could have scheduled this to run once a day. Right now, Applescripts can be scheduled, but they are foreground apps and would pop open and get in your way. http://pastebin.com/PvqP4tkj Copy that code, paste it into Script Editor, save as an application with no windows or dialog boxes, hook it to Keyboard Maestro or some other Macro app and fire at will. Or just put the app in your dock and click on it once a day.
  7. So how do you do this I want a physical hard copy of all my evernote notes and attachments in an evernote readable format backed up onto my local hard drive exporting out notes just exports XML which is simply going to be text based notes, tags, among other things - but not attachments or how can i back my attachments up easily
  8. Here's an Applescript you can use to back up all your notes into individual .enex notebook files. Only have 6.0.5 Direct Download version, so I can confirm that it works on that version (both on Yosemite and Mavericks). Be sure to set your osx username and that you set a valid path. with timeout of (30 * 60) seconds tell application "Evernote" activate set myFolder to "/Users/USERNAME/Desktop/EvernoteBackup/" -- path to backup folder delay 7 -- need some time for EN to launch if it's not already running. Raise number if needed. set myNotebooks to every notebook repeat with selectedNoteBook in myNotebooks set theNotebook to (the name of selectedNoteBook) set theNotes to every note in notebook theNotebook set myFile to (myFolder & theNotebook & ".enex") export theNotes to myFile end repeat end tell end timeout
  9. Hi guys, Did a few searches but still can't find an answer. If it's in another thread, you are welcome to merge or point me that way. I'm looking for a quick way or using an app to encrypt picture or file in EN using the iphone or an app. Things like bank statements, signed documents etc. I know that they won't be searchable except for using the tags but I'm fine with it. At the moment I've tested an app called Cypher bot which seemed to work well except when exporting the image ,the app couldn't read the Enex file. Any one have any ideas or will I need to crank up the mac every time I want to encrypt a picture. Maybe another app to convert an Enex to jpg on the iphone, then back to the encryption app? I'd rather just a simple method. Oh and I'm fairly technically sound but let's not start Developer jargon because you will lose me
  10. Hi everyone I use Evernote quite extensively, I have a premium account and end up uploading a lot of data, mostly .zip and images. I have my own way of using Evernote, I found thats how it works anyway because you have this open canvas almost and you are set to figure out how to make use of it. This is great and I have a cool system but the problem is I want to make use of exporting to a .enex file. As you may know that's the native Evernote export database, and if you want you can export notebooks or your entire system. My set up is like this: I don't use search that much, I don't use tags and have about two notebooks. All of my organizing comes from note links, You know the ones where you right click and copy note-link, and then paste that into a new note. That's it, my entire Evernote system is based on note links. I really like it and it works for me. I guess my system is like a private website/private wiki/private note system/private journal. Its really useful. Except the size, I need to at some point export some older parts of my system (because some synced computers have low Hard disk space). Moving a ton of notes into another notebook thankfully does not effect my note links. However exporting this for archiving purposes is a huge issue. If you export to enex and then import, every single link will not work Here is the question, is my computer doing something abnormal for evernote. Why does exporting and importing lose every single internal link. You can test this by making just two notes, link one to another and export to enex, and then import, the links will be broken. If this isn't just me, can I submit this as a feature request? I really need to be able to export my notebooks without losing my primary navigation system. Cheers Joseph Goss
