  1. I have been using nested tags for some time now to organize my notes. For example I have a 'root' tag called "people" under which I have nested "the wife", "the kid", "the boss" And I have a root tag called 'employers' under which I have tags for my current and former employers. This enables me to link notes across notebooks. In Evernote 6 for Mac non-MAS (I have tested this with first 6.0.2 and now 6.0.5) I can no longer nest new tags. And I cannot unnest my tags. Hope EN will fix this in a future release (soon).
  2. Ever since I updated to Evernote 6 on my Mac, my CPU is constantly at 100% (1 core). I've tried updating to 6.0.5 (App Store), logging out, rebooting and logging back in. That didn't do anything at all. I've submitted a support request, and after 5 days of silence I received the very unhelpful "update to Evernote 6.0.5" response. I let them know that didn't work, but I'm not holding my breath. Have any other forum users found a work around? I've seen suggestions around deleting my Evernote database and re-syncing from the servers, but I can't find specific instructions or even whether that will fix my specific issue. Does anyone have any idea what Evernote could be doing with one full core of my CPU? That's a lot of utilization for something that is largely a word processor. Disappointed in Evernote.
  3. We released Evernote for Mac 6.0.5 today. This is a pretty big update from 6.0.3 and the primary goal is to fix issues. A big reason some are seeing instability is because we rewrote a lot of the guts of the app to speed and improve reliability of sync and to build a modern foundation for better note editing. We're working as quickly as we can to work through issues. Our plan is to continue to focus on stability for the next few months. 6.0.5 has been released on both the Mac App Store and for download customers. Bug fixes and other improvements: Fix for note content not displaying or taking a long time to display (blank notes). We think we've found every way this could occur but please let us know if you're still seeing it in this release.Performance fix where typing speed would get really slow. This would only affect customers that have multiple accounts and switch between them. The top sync and crashing issues. We have also brought back a few things that forum customers have requested: Local files can now be opened directly. We originally removed it because of security concerns. Now we pop up a security message first.Present using multiple-notes.Some feature improvements:Export presentation as a PDF.Added the ability to link Gmail contacts in Work Chat.Added ability to block Work Chat contacts. What happened to 6.0.4?6.0.4 was supposed to be our Mac App Store release but we found an issue and pulled it and resubmitted 6.0.5. You can download the new version from our website at https://evernote.com/download/ or if you're a direct download customer you can always go to Preferences > Software Update > Check for Updates Now. As always, let us know if you find any major issues in this release.
  4. I see there's now Evernote 6.0.5 in the Mac App Store — however, my direct download of 6.0.4 b2 won't update. Is this a App Store-only release?
  5. So we're all annoyed at the lack of a zoom feature, but on the old version I'd get around it by increasing all the text in a document by hitting Command-Plus. But the new Evernote for Mac (while otherwise excellent) makes this more difficult to do since it makes the text size of all selected text the same. I like having headers on my documents to keep them organized. So, I add a chapter heading and some text: So far so good. Now let's select the text: Alright... now let's do Command-Plus to up the font size. What? On the previous version, it would increase it incrementally, making the header a bit bigger and the text a bit bigger. Now incrementing the font size makes all the text the same size, so I lose the text size formatting. After leaving Evernote years ago for its unpredictable text editing, I came back hoping things would have changed. They did, mostly for the better, but new bugs have cropped up in the process. I hope this is a known bug. - Evernote 6.0.3 (451151 App Store) - OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 (Thanks JMichael for reminding me to add these stats)
  6. According to https://dev.evernote.com/doc/articles/search_grammar.php, I should be able to search within a single notebook for "any" of several terms using a search such as: notebook:"Hot Stuff" any: mexican italianMy search looks like this: notebook:ActionPending any: tag:"!Daily" tag:"1-Now"That search seems to return ALL notes in ActionPending, as well as the notes in other notebooks with either of the listed tags. It is as though the "any" modifier is applying to the notebook as well, rather than the notebook constraining the search as the above article indicated it would. The search without the notebook modifier works fine, returning all notes in all notebooks with either of the two tags: any: tag:"!Daily" tag:"1-Now"I would appreciate any advice for how I can search for any of several tags within a single notebook. Using Evernote for Mac version 6.0.3 (451151 Direct) on Mac OSX 10.9.5
  7. When I'm working with longer notes (all text, but with bullet points if that's relevant), evernote becomes very sluggish. Right now, for instance, I'm working on a note with ~60 lines and there's about a 1-2 second delay between my key strokes and them actually registering. While monitoring activity log, it looks like evernote uses up ~25% of my CPU when it's sluggish. I've had this problem for a few months now. My computer is a Macbook Pro 11,3 so it should have no issues running evernote. I'm running yosemite, but I've had these problems before upgrading to yosemite. I'm using evernote 6.0.3 with premium.
  8. Using Evernote 6.0.3 from App Store. When the Evernote window is small the search field disappears. If I click on the double arrow ( >> ), what looks like a search menu pops up, but I can do nothing with it. If I use the menu "Edit -> Find -> Search Notes..." or the shortcut ALT+CMD+F a search window appears but there is no field to type in to. I can type my search string but I cannot see what I have types. Is this a bug?
  9. Just updated to 6.0.3 on my Mac (Yosemite). Evernote starts with displaying spanish titles, then crashes. 6.0.2 was stable and sweet to use. Has anyone else experienced and fixed this already?
  10. Evernote no longer hyperlinks URLs when entered in a note. Please fix Screencast: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6v2o34eel50mxk8/Evernote%20hyperlink%20bug.mov?dl=0 Version 6.0.3 (451151 Direct)
  11. After the last update, I have noticed an irritating issue. Sometimes when I open Evernote App with my Macbook, I can't see any of the note texts but only titles. If I double click a title to see the note in full, the note opens without any text appearing. Once I close the note, the title has gone missing. Has anyone else encountered these issues?
  12. I use a MacBook Pro. I am new to Evernote, and just wondering what the difference is between the version that is available on Evernote.com and the one that is available in the Mac App Store? Thanks in Advance.
  13. Opened ticket #865465. If you execute this AppleScript (which is a very simplified version of a script I use all the time as part of a quick-journaling thing I wrote), then (null) appears above the first text. Didn't happen in 5.5.2: tell application "Evernote" set theNote to create note with text "" title "Test note" append theNote html "<h2>Heading</h2><p>Text</p>" end tell You get: Also happens to show off the block formatting bug.
  14. I have been using Evernote with my MacBook Pro for the past two years, generally with excellent results. In the past two weeks, however, everything has "fallen apart." Notes will not open at all, or they simply disappear without a trace - I literally had one go "poof" into thin air while I was editing it. I've used the Search function without success, looked in the trash, etc. etc. The disappeared notes actually appeared in the trash once, but the next time I looked for them they weren't there anymore. I've now been forced to quit using Evernote entirely. Any help / suggestions anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated, especially as it appears you cannot contact the tech support people directly...
  15. A BIG WARNING TO MAC EVERNOTE USERS. DO NOT UPDATE to version 6.0.3. From the APP STORE. It is a major nightmare. Problems: - New Notes. It takes almost 2 minutes to be able to do anything other than add a tag. After this time, only a small single line appears for a title. Then, you must somehow intuit that pressing TAB moves to another single line for the body of the note. Totally unusable. - Existing notes. IT also takes nearly 2 minutes to simply VIEW an existing note. Further, there is something totally bonkers about the FONTS. I discovered this only after opening (wait wait wait....) a note I created yesterday - a set of song lyrics I copied and pasted. Yesterday, the font after the paste was the default font. Today, the SAMe note has a fount name I've never heard of, and the formatting is totally fubar - lines overlapped, unreadable text. This holds even after I have selected all and pushed into a standard font (Verdana). I SOLVED these problems after I downloaded the version from the Evernote Site. See reply below for more. As a Premium user, I do feel very put off by this. This is not a usable product at all. Needless to say, if it is NOT fixed, I'm not sure what options I have other than migrating notes from a different machine to text and using a different product. If it IS fixed, no updates for me until at least a month after they are released. This is the first time I have had such a terrible experience with the product.
  16. I am using the most updated version of the Mac App Store Evernote. I just opened the program and it is completely frozen. I tried to check disk permissions and reboot and that did not work. When I open the program it goes to full screen and when I try to click on anything my mac makes that you can't click on me sound (Not sure what it is called). Anyways my Evernote is totally unusable. Any help would be appreciated.
  17. For some reason I cannot edit notes any more on my mac. I even double-click to bring note into own window. I can only change the tags of a note, but cannot edit or add text to them. All text options are gone. Please help.
  18. Evernote web works fine, but I'm now not able to access notes or create notes on the mac / application version. I have a premium version and also don't appear to have online chat, which forms part of the premium subscription? Considering Evernote is a 'note-taking' application perhaps the company should focus on maintaining a reliable product, rather than adding new peripheral functionality?
  19. I am getting this error message since upgrading to latest evernote version- your local evernote data is being managed by a newer version of Evernote. Please use the latest version. Mac os X 10.7.5. Help please!
  20. My Evernote app was just updated and now it takes almost two minutes just for a note to show up after I select it on the lefts-side note list. That makes my envernote on MAC pretty much un-usable. Any advice on how to improve the slowness? I have a MAC Mini i5 processor, premium evernote account and a moderate sized database - been using evernote for around 3 years now. Evernote app just updated to 6.0.3 and it told me it was "migrating the database" which took a while.
  21. Just want to chime in here as a heavy Evernote (Premium) user who is afraid of getting retinal damage from the new design. (I'm on Yosemite.) But I think I figured out what needs to happen- if anyone from Evernote is reading this. A synopsis: transparency isn't necessarily the problem. The main problem is how the transparency behaves when there are other windows open behind the Evernote window. The transparency on the Mac client looks okay IF- and only IF- there are no other windows open behind it, and you have a darkish background. (I'd still prefer there to be more contrast.) However, if there are any windows open behind the Evernote window, odds are those windows are mostly white, and so the transparency on the Evernote window turns into a sea of white. If you look at one of the built-in Apple apps, like Calendar or Safari, the sidebar is only transparent when there are no other windows behind it. The sidebar does not remain transparent when it's layered on top of other open windows. In that case, it defaults to a wonderful greyish colour. Go try it out, and you'll see what I mean. Evernote desperately needs to include this same behaviour. The shades of grey it employs when layered on top of other windows are far too light. In my opinion, this is a crucial fix that needs to happen.
  22. Hi, the evernote version 6.0.3 run so slowly on mac with yosemite, specifically the scroll effects, anyone know who fix it?
  23. 6.0.3 Slow on Yosemite Typing, deleting, copy and pasting, all the basic editing functions are slow enough to be called broken on Yosemite. OneNote is looking really good, can I export my Evernote data to OneNote? How do I do that? Any word on when your planning on fixing your product?
  24. I have my search results sorted by title. Each note is prefixed by a date, e.g. [20141205]. After this upgrade - now EN 6.0.3 I have seen that the search results do not get refreshed as fast as previous versions. Right now I have changed the date of a note, it should be resorted to the end of the search results. After a few minutes, it is still sitting there, out of order. Sometimes the re-sorting of notes happens almost immediately - almost like before, but not quite as quickly in my opinion. Many times it can take quite a fe seconds before it re-sorts. The delay of minutes is no unusual. The same also happens if I change a tag that results in the note not meeting the search criteria. Most times it will be removed, but sometimes it will linger. The only workaround I have is to do another search and then go back to the original search. Is this a known issue?
  25. Hi, First of all - I love Evernote. But I noticed some worrying behaviour lately on my Mac (also in the Android version, but this is dealt with elsewhere). I'm working on the latest version of Evernote (6.0.3). I noticed today that when I made a change to one specific note, Evernote refused to save the changes. When I made changes, selected another note and switched back, all changes where gone. I read in an older post that this happens when there is some kind of "illegal character" in the note, making it impossible for Evernote to save the changes. It then reverts back to the last note. When I checked the Activity logfile I noticed the following contents: 2014/12/04 22:32:03:989 I|* __52-[ENAppController(Sparkle) feedURLStringForUpdater:]_block_invoke main | Feed URL https://update.evernote.com/public/ENMacSMD/EvernoteMacUpdate.xml2014/12/04 22:32:38:003 I|* -[ENCommonEditorWebView setNoteContentNeedsCommit:] main | changing from 0 to 12014/12/04 22:32:39:079 I|* -[ENMessageStoreWebSocket pingTimerFired:] main | sending ping2014/12/04 22:32:40:744 E|*** -[ENCommonEditorWebView handleJavascriptLog:] main | ERROR: Exception: TypeError: null is not an object (evaluating 'a.nodeValue.charAt')2014/12/04 22:32:40:745 E|*** -[ENCommonEditorWebView handleJavascriptLog:] main | ERROR: Exception in queryCommandValue <$>: TypeError: null is not an object (evaluating 'a.nodeValue.charAt')2014/12/04 22:32:40:745 E|*** -[ENCommonEditorWebView commitEditingWithCompletion:] main | No HTML after processing for commit! 2014/12/04 22:32:40:745 I|* -[ENCommonEditorWebView setNoteContentNeedsCommit:] main | changing from 1 to 02014/12/04 22:32:53:152 I|* -[ENCommonEditorWebView updateViewFromNoteContent] main | loading note content, dirty=0 usn=11364 c6386aff-c763-4110-b004-d9a2835f4421/p337 'xxx Tile of the note xxxx' The note consists of some text and an embedded .docx document. I scrolled down the note (moved the cursor below the embedded attachment) and pressed the backspace key, basically removing an empty line below the attachment. Problem solved! This issue is solved for now, but what I would like to know is why Evernote doesn't warn me when it is unable to save a document. At least a pop up error message or something! I have no clue how many changes I've lost over time because of this strange behaviour. Can anybody explain to my why this happens (and how this can be resolved)? Regards, Maarten.
