  1. I upgraded to EN 6 a couple of days ago. I have just upgraded to 6.0.3 and this problem is still present. I have a number of saved searches that are in the format Notebook:<notebook name> any: Tag:<tag name> Tag:<tag name> (That is, any documents in this specific notebook that have any of these tags) These searches now all return the notes that are in the specified notebook OR have any of the tags. I also tried doing the same thing manually. Search for <tag> returned 462 documents. Search for <notebook> <tag> returned 403 documents (so 59 documents not in <notebook>) Search for <notebook> returned 2954 documents Search for <notebook> any: <tag> returned 3013 documents (include 59 documents not in <notebook>) Adding another <tag> on the end jut makes the error worse These searches were working fine until I upgraded. Has the search syntax with ANY: been changed?
  2. I am searching for very important notes I created months ago. When I search for the note and select a note to view from the list genreated during the search, the title of the selected note is erased and then synced. Now if is almost impossible to find these notes now that the titles of the notes have been erased. Please let me know if there is a way to get these back. 3. I have to say I'm very disappointed with the latest version of evernote. Since from the beginning, It was giving me headache. All of my notes were gone that I could only see blank pages. I have contacted evernote premium supports, no reply yet. Luckily, after a few panic attack, I restarted my mac and it all came back. The second issue is that If I create a new note and paste a picture, I wouldn't be able to place a cursor to type words. The third issue, I set my default font to Lucida Grande but it would always switch back to Helvetica, which I have to select every words and manually change it back to Lucida Grande. This is a total huge pain in the neck. Asides from that, all look okay. This is the mac version. On windows version, the pictures(which I captured on mac) don't show up accordingly to the windows size I have adjusted. They were out of proportion(way too big) and couldn't fit inside the EN window. And taking a screenshot would launch evernoteNW.exe causing it to use too much memory somehow, and my 4GB RAM PC would hang (considering I was using other apps as well. I didn't have that problem on older versions.) That was solved by turning off clipper to auto-launch after a screenshot in the option. I don't know, it doesn't feel right. I'm looking forward to a new update and hope they will fix it soon. Bear with my English.
  4. Since I am plagued by the "Untitled" and blank content problem on my Mac I am downloading the latest Evernote version directly from the Evernote servers. I was also going to completely uninstall the old Evernote and data so the new install and data would be fresh. When I went to the data folder I found symbolic links to my desktop, documents, download, movies, music and pictures folders. Why are there symbolic links to these non evernote folders in this folder? How do I delete /Users/xxxxxxxxx/Library/Containers/com.evernote.Evernote without deleting my desktop, documents, download, movies, music and pictures folders? $ pwd /Users/xxxxxxxxx/Library/Containers/com.evernote.Evernote/Data $ ls -l lrwxr-xr-x 1 xxxxxxxxx staff 19 Sep 2 2012 Desktop -> ../../../../Desktop drwx------ 3 xxxxxxxxx staff 102 Sep 2 2012 Documents lrwxr-xr-x 1 xxxxxxxxx staff 21 Sep 2 2012 Downloads -> ../../../../Downloads drwx------ 32 xxxxxxxxx staff 1088 Nov 5 2013 Library lrwxr-xr-x 1 xxxxxxxxx staff 18 Sep 2 2012 Movies -> ../../../../Movies lrwxr-xr-x 1 xxxxxxxxx staff 17 Sep 2 2012 Music -> ../../../../Music lrwxr-xr-x 1 xxxxxxxxx staff 20 Sep 2 2012 Pictures -> ../../../../Pictures
  5. The following covers the various ways to share your notes from within Evernote. Work Chat The best way to share your notes is to use the new Work Chat feature. Don’t think of Work Chat as another chat client. We didn’t design it to replace other chat apps. Work Chat's focus is to allow you to quickly and easily discuss and share Evernote notes and notebooks. If you’re viewing a note you want to share, just click the Share button to pop-up a Work Chat window. In the Work Chat address field, type in the email addresses of the people you want to share with. Next to the note you can set permissions. You control who and how people can view and interact with your note. Click Send and you’re now sharing your note. Probably the biggest misconception about Work Chat is that you have to worry about whether or not the people you’re sharing with have Evernote or not. People will get an email with a link to see the note in a web browser. Like Google docs or other collaboration tools, they will need to sign in or create an Evernote account before seeing the note so we can enforce your sharing permissions but they don’t have to download an Evernote client or even use Evernote ever again. If they are already an Evernote user they will see your Work Chat in their Evernote app. Sharing a note and allowing someone else to edit the note is an entirely new feature in Evernote. If you’re collaborating on a project you may also want to share a notebook so that everyone on your team can collaborate and share their notes with each other. Just like a note, you share a notebook using Work Chat. To sum things up, Work Chat is used to discuss and share notes or notebooks. These conversations stay within Evernote so they are easy to find and follow. It also provides you control over who can see and interact with your notes or notebooks. And finally, Work chat allows people to see your notes exactly how you formatted them, get the latest updates and even edit and collaborate on notes if you've given them those rights. Email Note The email note feature is a way of sharing a note via email. Your note is converted to HTML and put into an email message. Sometimes this works great and at other times the conversion to email is less than stellar with image stretching and other formatting issues. This is useful if you don’t want people to get updates or you don’t care if they email it to others. We have deemphasized this feature in favor of Work Chat. This feature can be found by right clicking (CTRL+Click) a note in the note list or clicking the Note menu in the menu bar and going to More Sharing. Public Link The public link is a way to create a URL that you can share with others to see your note. Like email note you don’t have any control of who sees your note because the URL is public and anyone can see the note without restrictions. But unlike email note, you will see the note exactly as you formatted it. Copy Note Link A note link is really an internal link that you create for your own use to open up Evernote notes from within Evernote or other applications. You will need to log in to your Evernote account to see the note. If you paste the note link in Evernote it will create a special "evernote:///“ link which will open the note in Evernote Mac. If you paste the note link into another application, social media site or web page you’ll get a standard HTML URL and clicking this link will bring up the web version of Evernote. The Copy Note Link feature can be found by right clicking (CTRL+Click) on a note in the note list or by selecting the Note menu in the menu bar and selecting Copy Note Link. As you can see there are lots of ways to share notes or notebooks from within Evernote. We hope this helps!
  6. Hi everybody! We just launched an incredible new premium feature called Context. Context surfaces relevant content at the times you need it most. It displays related notes, people and high-quality articles based on intelligent indexing of your notes. As an Evernote Premium subscriber, you get (what is usually costly) relevant content for free from sources like the Wall Street Journal and more. Here are two important facts: 1. Your data is private We never send your content outside of Evernote. All of our clever matching happens within Evernote with data provided to Evernote by our partners (like WSJ). We do not monetize your data or your clicks. Context is not advertising. We are providing premium content to our subscribers for free. Context stays true to our 3 Laws of Data Protection. 2. You can turn Context off If you want to turn it off, you can easily do so from the Preferences in Evernote for Mac. We love using Context and hope you’ll enjoy it too! 7. Hey Evernote land! We've just launched a newly redesigned Evernote for Mac and we'd love your feedback. There has already been quite a lot of discussion, so let me sum up what we understand from it so far: Text contrast: We've attempted to improve text legibility significantly from version 5. This is directly in response to your feedback. We have several upcoming updates that take even further steps to respond to your feedback and bump contrast even more! Light background: With the new version, we have adopted many of Apple's design queues from Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10). Lighter backgrounds and translucency (what Apple calls Vibrancy) are among the design themes for Apple's new OS (our new home). We've worked closely with Apple and their design guidelines to craft a beautiful new look without removing any existing functionality. Users on Yosemite should now see that Evernote fits right in. Users on 10.9: we’ve heard your feedback and you should see more contrast coming back to your UI in versions 6.0.2 and above. If you have any additional feedback, please feel free to voice it below. Please keep the discussion constructive. We read every post, we put our hearts into this product, this is our life's work, and we love your feedback. It only helps us get better.
  8. Ever since i updated Evernote in the past two days, i have had trouble accessing any of my notes. I can see them but if i try to open them, I get a blank screen AND then when i close the (blank) screen, the note becomes "untitled". Does anyone have a clue what is going on? Thanks
  9. It continues to baffle me that Evernote would allow people to auto-update to the data losing version 6.0 from the App Store. Correct me if I'm wrong but they should be able to reject the bug-ridden binary and revert to a previous version. They have kept it for **ten days** now. Enjoying the one-star reviews so much? Data safety is supposed to be one of Evernote's "Three Laws of Data Protection": http://blog.evernote.com/blog/2011/03/24/three-laws-of-data-protection/ But apparently they don't really mean it?
  10. Recently updated to v6 and noticed that any links I'd put in notes to open a folder or launch an app on my local drive have stopped working. Now a link formatted like this… file:///Users/username/enclosing folder/targeted folder …opens the enclosing folder with the targeted folder selected, whereas previously it would open the targeted folder itself. The same is true if it's an app at the end of the path - I could previously launch apps from a link, now it just opens the Applications folder. This is incredibly annoying and has broken a whole host of workflows I'd had set up — is it a bug or a deliberate change? I've done a bit of poking around these forums but not had much luck with an answer…
  11. I am an Evernote Business user. Today I shared a note in the new 6.0.2 version of ENB and no matter who I share it with via email, they have no option to edit it. IN FACT, when I share it via email, ENB doesn't even ask me what kind of permissions I'd like to grant. (view / edit / view & edit) The person receives the note as a literal IMAGE embedded in an email. Completely uneditable. Then, (get this) when I go BACK into the note that I just shared and right click it, and select Permissions, it says "Nothing to see here. Permissions are only available on notes that have been shared and this note hasn't been shared." Except that I DID JUST SHARE THE NOTE VIA EMAIL. Am I missing something? Thanks!
  12. I'm unable to open Evernote on my Macbook. I've had the account for years. Updated to Yosemite a few weeks ago (now running 10.10.1) ... it's possible I haven't managed to open Evernote since then (not sure). I just tried downloading the 6.02 version directly from the Evernote site (I couldn't keep Evernote open long enough to use the in-app Update function). But Evernote still crashes when I try to open it. Kinda stuck here... everything else is running fine on my computer.
  13. Is anyone experiencing the same problem? - I can see the snippets of my notes in Evernote Mac, but clicking on them shows the title and a empty place where the text and content should have been (see attach). The same notes are fully visible in the web-version. Any suggestions? Wim
  14. On my Evernote version 6.0.2 I am unable to rename pdf attachments. What could be the reason? Rainer
  15. I've been reading this Forum and the gist of what I see is that some users have upgraded via the App Store, and the result had been a complete face-plant. They are being advised to go through a complicated uninstall and then to upgrade only from the EN site. How does this happen? I know nothing about the industry. Is this something EN should have prevented? Or is it something that App Store should have prevented? Or is it joint negligence? Whose job is it now to warn those users who have not been fortunate enough to have happened upon the postings in this Forum, but who might upgrade via the App Store? I suspect that many, many users do not read this Forum; because, if they did, few users would be upgrading until the the wheels have been put back on. Is EN publishing an advisory?
  16. How the hell do you open a new note and put text in it???!!! Is this a basic function of Evernote???!!! I added a new note to a notebook then it took me a minute of failed tries to manage to get a title typed in. Then I can't get a response to pressing Return, I can't find a way of either pasting text or typing text into the main body of the note. IS THIS AN UPGRADE???!!! What do I do to just create a note with text in it???!!!
  17. I see the notes in card and snippet view. However the content of the note is not shown? Only dates of Creation and Update are visible. I can still update and see the notes in iOs.
  18. Details are as follows: Mac OS X version 10.9.5 current or upgraded version of Evernote: 10.6.0 (451119 Direct) I got a window pop-up that asks me if I want to update to the latest version of Evernote. I clicked Yes and it started updating. After an update, I find all my sync'd to cloud Notebooks BUT could not find all my local notebooks (not sync'd to cloud). A quick search in Finder tells me that all my local notebook contents are in: ~/<user>/Library/Caches/Metadata/com.evernote.Evernote. Title of notebook files are p<numeric number>.evernote. Example: p156.evernote. I opened the .evernote file in TextEdit and I can see all my notes there in xml format. I want it shown in my Evernote app and in the right format as before. How do I point my Evernote app to find my local notebooks?
  19. Since the more version 6.0 upgrade on my Mac desktop, I have found Evernote to be dysfunctional! Until this upgrade I would have said that Evernote is my favorite app, but not any longer . . . I am running Mac OS 10.9.5. I read through the forum comments and did find that restarting my desktop helped to see all the "missing" notes, but that is only the beginning of the issues I am experiencing. Currently, I am trying to do nothing more than create a new folder (successful doing that) and then creating a new note in that file! Sounds simple enough, but the "new note" comes up but I am unable to add a title, content, tag - nothing! The page is blank and I can do NOTHING with it. The only option at this point is go back to my notebooks . . . this is bizarre!!!
  20. I just upgraded to version 6 and am not sure that is the problem, but I am unable to nest existing tags beneath a newly created one. Existing tags can be nested with each other just fine. But, if I create a new top level tag and drag an existing tag on top of it, it just snaps back. Am I missing something? Ken
  21. Is it possible to restore local notebooks from a backup to v6.0.x, or should I just downgrade and pretend/wish this version never happened?
  22. Reproducible bug in Mac 6.0.1 running under OS 10.9.5: 1. Create or select any note. 2. Press command-P to print. 3. Press ESC to cancel the print request. 4. The contents of the note's title field have been removed.
  23. Opening note in separate window causes the normal note pane to be empty/blank Quitting Evernote does not fix it, the computer needs to be restarted Screen cap attached of empty note pane
  24. This is what Evernote looks like in the new update: http://imgur.com/SBUgzYZ I cannot edit any of my notes or see their contents. I have tried restarting Evernote multiple times, but with no change. How can I fix this?
  25. I upgraded to Evernote 6 via the app store. I noticed this morning that all of my notes that have pdf's, gif's or jpeg's attached do not show inline. They show up as a partial white box with the same icon as shows up when you choose to view them as attachements. I have downloaded samples and the pdf's all open with preview fine. As a note, this is not happening with any notes I have added since upgrading to 6.0, everything functions correctly. After reading the forums just now, I have downloaded EN directly from the EN page and installed it right over the other version but it has not solved the problem. I am now running EN 6.1 and OSX 10.10.1 Is there any fix for this? Is there any way for me downgrade to the previous version? Thanks for any help.
