  1. So. Punting this out to the general audience to see if anyone has ideas. I'm trying to set up a filter in Gmail to forward emails to Evernote via my Filterize account, which can assign them to different notebooks and maybe carry out different processing as appropriate. (Yes, I could use my Evernote email address, but I can't change the subject line of the forwarded email so all directly-forwarded emails go into my default notebook.) I'm sure I've had this working before, but while I can 'verify' the email address to Gmail by picking up a code (from the resulting note) that they sent there, using the same email address as a filter just doesn't work. At first I thought it was my fault. Then Evernote. Then Filterize; but... I reset my Evernote address and deleted all the filters I had set up to start from scratch. I verified that email sent to my new address does appear as a note. I added that note to my forwarding addresses in Gmail, and was able to receive the code they send out. Then, using the same target email I set up a filter: if Gmail receives a mail from this address, send it to my account; and run that filter against the 1 email already found. Result: Nope. Nuttin'. Nada. No forwarding happens. The same email to the same email address, and it forwards if I do this 'manually' while setting up a filter, but the resulting filter does not work. Tried filtering to my 'other' Gmail account so I could verify any differences in email headers. But that doesn't work either. So this looks like a purely Gmail Filter problem - I can set up a forwarding address, but forwarding by filter no longer works for me. I will check my Gmail settings to see if there's something hinky in here, but if anyone has any ideas or can contribute anything - even that their gmail forwarding works, I'd be very grateful!! Apologies for whinging into your day with my problems! If I find the cure I'll post more... <mutter, mutter, mutter>...
  2. Konichiwa, Evernote Community. Pleased to see you. Let's get into it. Keyboard navigation. What are your favourite hacks and workflows and keyboard shortcuts in Evernote? I am currently seeking the keyboard shortcut to tab around the note space. For example, when I open a new note (^⌥⌘-N) it drops me into the main note taking space. But without touching the trackpad, how to I edit notebook and tags? Inquisitive minds would like to know!
  3. Hi, I have the professional membership of Evernote. Could you restore the function that can search notebook in the "web clipper"? I think it's waste a lot of time to pull down menu when we without that function.
  4. Searches are usually slow, and even freezes the app, when number of notes are very large. It is frustrating and keeps the user waiting. I am using Evernote as a news feed reader. If I want to fire a search, I would most of the time require results say top 10 or top 20 from the most recently created/updated notes. This creates a case for a feature requirement, where search process suspends (and not continue searching exhaustively), after displaying such specified number of results, with a "More.." button at the end. If the user wishes, he can continue to get more results, by clicking the button. It will save time and resources, and make the app responsive.
  5. For the Android App (v.7.9.3) and Windows Desktop platform(v. 6.2.3), I want you to consider adding a "text commenting" feature for a wide range of text-based notes, a feature thus distinct from the appreciated but far too cumbersome Image/PDF Annotation tool. To my knowledge, only Mac users have anything resembling what I suggest. Most assuredly, I appreciate the Evernote team's effort to afford its registered users and/or paying customers similar experiences regardless of operating system. But even if or, more likely, when that happens, users who practice a conversational feedback style will still find Evernote's solution insufficient if it is based on the current annotation tool. While I cannot propose exactly how to incorporate the tool I request, I suspect it can be designed fairly easily, such that all a user would need to do is type a quick command after highlighting a section of text or the entire text and then type his or her comment. A relative newbie to productivity tools as such, I've steadily sung the praises of Evernote, and despite the fee increase, I intend to remain a Premium subscriber. However, there's one shortcoming that only frustrates me more as more time elapses: there is no efficient, precise, and minimally disruptive way to embed additional content in text-based notes. Both as a graduate student and composition instructor, I have relied heavily on this basic word processing function. No doubt, I could add these thoughts, questions, comments, and reflections in the same linear arrangement of the original text. While this would seem to foster conceptual integration and cohesion later in the writing process, such a result is unrealistic and frankly unhelpful at the note-taking and organizational/analytical modes. This apparently seamless transition between the thinking-writing mode and the meta-cognitive modes of reflection and revision serves mostly to undermine them both. So intertwined, there's less opportunity to recognize one perspective as thinking about the other's thinking, and in turn, it's more difficult to reap the benefits of engaging that thinking in a dialogue. Given my multi-project personal and professional uses for Evernote, I had largely abandoned other, similar applications and tools. Now, I've found that my best recourse has been, once again, to rely on two or more writing/note-taking applications. Still, the second or two it takes to acclimate to a new page with totally different content can be--and has been--enough to lose that extemporaneous thought connection. At both ends, there lacks a basic control in Evernote of how comments interact with the note's text; in contrast, an embedded or marginal comment readily connects to text whether with sentence- or word-level precision or with expansive, "big idea" broad strokes, as with end comments, and further, these ends are achievable typically with only one or two gestures or clicks to switch to the meta-thinking mode.
  6. My installation is slowing down and becoming nearly impossible to use, constantly getting "EverNote is unresponsive" when it is just doing a search. Tags are indexed and are much faster in searching, but if you don't start the search with the first character being an exact match, the possible fill options are not displayed and it then becomes a search for the right tag. Since I frequently remember only part of the tag used previously, I want to be able to search for "fragments" of a tag. This would speed up my selection considerably. In particular, nested tags are the only method that I am aware of that enables a hierarchical structure, but it is severely limited by the lack of this ability. This would make the use of nested tags much more usable in providing faster searching and hierarchical depth. Maybe this won't work for everyone, so how about providing the option for the user to decide which search option works best for them? This seems like a simple and straight forward improvement to the products intended purpose.
  7. As a blogger I love love love evernote's ability to let me take notes on the spot, access my previous notes, organize and maintain consistency on all my devices. I don't know about you all but it used to drive me nuts to have to search slide, and search through my apps to open it when I had a brilliant idea, saw something go by I wanted to write down etc. I got this app for my android called 2click. Its SO GREAT. I just choose evernote as my 2click and I can grab my phone and double click whenever I get an idea, see something I want to remember, hear something I need to write down, and evernote opens instantly! Just thought I'd share. Its made my life so much easier. Check it out : http://2clickapp.com/
  8. There should be no " read only " lock on skitch documents. I NEED to add TAGS to my skitch documents or what's the point ?? Tagging is essential to Evernote yet skitch an Evernote product , you can't tag. Either inside skitch or inside Evernote .... I need to be able to add tags !!!! I shouldn't have to save my skitch as a jpeg then upload to add tags. Evernote is about convenience, not being able to tag skitch documents is unreal !!!!!
